The 2012 Bob’s Vertical Challenge is in the books and we have, thanks to FLAIK this year’s results are the most accurate possible for any distance event! These results are OFFICIAL! Bragging rights are yours! Please act accordingly…

Nine teams (36 participants) completed the Vertical Challenge and an additional 13 skiers finished the complete challenge on their own. Congratulations to all of the finishers and everyone else. For those of you who didn’t finish, give it a try next year! For those of you who did, see how much better you can do next year! Until then, happy trails!

This year’s Vertical Challenge was the best ever! Each year the event has gotten bigger and better and this year carried on that tradition. The weather wasn’t as perfect as last year, but that’s a matter of opinion. Some LOVED the snowy, windy weather that greeted each skier and snowboarder as they got off the lifts. But at the end of the day, the event raised a lot of money to benefit Scoutreach of the Trapper Trails Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

This year the Vertical Challenge welcomed FLAIK and the results were amazing! Not only did Flaik accurately track each skier/snowboarder on the hill, it also calculated the number of feet traveled, the speed of each skier and the total amount of feet skied by each team and by the entire group that participated today. Click on the results and you’ll see how the top 10 teams finished!

We hope all that participated in this year’s Vertical Challenge enjoyed their time on the mountain. We know you’ve helped to make a child’s life better. Please tell your friends, family and co-workers to get ready for next year’s Vertical Challenge. Thank you all for your support.

Our Own Super Tuesday…Tomorrow at Snowbasin Ski Resort!

It’s tomorrow, folks! The 5th Annual Bob’s Vertical Challenge happens tomorrow, February 28 at Snowbasin Ski Resort. It’s still not too late to join us for a great day of skiing for a great cause!

Location: Snowbasin Ski Resort, “Old Day Lodge”

Check-in: 7:30 a.m.

Things you’ll need once you arrive (this information available at Check-in):

 *   Schedule

 *   Hold Harmless Agreement (Print, sign, and turn-in during event check-in)

 *   Tracking bracelet information (Flaik)

 *   Location map

 

This year we’ve put together some awesome raffle packages… the more tickets you buy, the more chances you have to win!  Be creative with your team!  There will be prizes for the best team costumes. We had some great team costumes last year—we’re hoping for more of the same this year!

Those of you who have experienced Bob’s Vertical Challenge in the past know what I’m talking about when I say there’s nothing quite like it. What could be better than spending a day at a world-class ski resort with your friends, family and co-workers? And while you’re having fun on the mountain all proceeds go to help children in our community.

If you haven’t already done so, please get a team together and register for this fantastic event. Even if you don’t have a team, please sign up anyway—we’ll take care of you!

One team from last year’s Vertical Challenge utilized a GPS unit and tracked every vertical feet they skied. This gave us an idea.

Introducing FLAIK! Bob’s Vertical Challenge has contracted with Flaik, a company from Boulder, Colorado, to track every team to see exactly how many vertical feet each team skis. Flaik will provide GPS units for each team and team results will be followed in REAL TIME at the Day Lodge. You can know at any time during the event exactly how much your team has skied and how much more you’ve got to do to not only finish the Vertical Challenge, but also see how your team stacks up against everyone else. Of course, you may not want to take a break–that’s okay too! You’ll find out how much your team has skied at the end of the day!

This year you can let everyone know you’ve completed Vertical Challenge!

We are deigning a window decal for everyone who successfully completes the Challenge. Each team that finishes the Vertical Challenge will have ski/snowboarded 100,000 vertical feet in a six-hour period. The decal being designed will let everyone know that you are part of an elite group of people that not only did something amazing on the mountain, but more importantly, did a great thing to help out local kids. All proceeds from Bob’s Vertical Challenge go to Scoutreach of the Boy Scouts of America.

Hopefully the decal tradition will continue and as the event grows, more and more people will recognize the symbol and know what the VC and the skier means.

Also new this year t-shirts showing the Vertical Challenge Logo and a message letting everyone know you’ve completed this year’s Vertical Challenge will be available. The shirt shown is a short-sleeve, but ALL shirts available for purchase will be long-sleeve shirts.
