I received this wonderful email from Courtney all the way from Independence Kentucky ! Its a long way for me because I live all the way over in Sydney Australia :)

Thank you so much for the online snowman tutorial. My boyfriend agreed to matching sweaters as long as I made them and the snowman added the perfect touch! I even made a nice bow-tie (using your tutorial for a bow) for my dog so he could join in the festivities as well. I have come a long way in my crocheting abilities because if your FABULOUS videos!

Dedication, Passion and hard work

People say they want to be like me one day.
All it takes is dedication, passion and lots of hard work. Success does not come over night, more like over 2 years hahahha

-You need to be dedicated to your job, yes its is my full time job that allows me to work from home. You need to put in many hours of hard work, answer emails and questions and not just upload videos

-Passion is very important !!! If you are not passionate and in love with what you do you will not last long and give up easy

- Hard work ..... LOTS OF IT - hundreds of emails and questions everyday, self promotion, creating new tutorials, editing and uploading

Believe in yourself - For me this took time, I new i was good at crochet, but was i good at teaching others? I knew people were telling me everyday via comments. but "I" had to believe it and it wasn't until someone asked me one day (only 12 months ago) 'what do you do for a job?' I replied 'I teach crochet online'.. I got the weirdest look and then didn't tell anyone for a while hahaha
But then I thought , No I do teach people how to crochet and that is my job :) I love it and I want to tell the world about it. So now I hold my head high and I am so proud and LOVE EVERY SECOND of my job
Is it a job if you love it so much ??

New Crochet Video Tutorial and Pattern Review - Victorian Step

My beautiful friend Laura from The Crochet Case designed the Victorian Step exclusively for bobwilson123 viewers. I am very excited about this pattern. The Victorian Step is a very versatile pattern because the patterns are created using ‘multiples of’ you can create an afghan for baby or for a king size bed!

I have created a video tutorial to teach you how to make the Victorian Step and with practice and patience you will complete it in no time at all. The pattern works up fast and the colour changes make it fun to make.

You can make it with a minimum of 2 colours (you could use one but it will not have the same effect) and as you can see form the photo 4 colours look fantastic

The layout of the pattern is very user friendly and with basic pattern reading skills easy to understand. I would recomend this pattern for someone wanting to learn to read a pattern. The novelties of row designs in Bargello Crochet are the pixelated effect of chevrons and the ability to create waves, peaks and valleys of varying heights and widths.

Bargello Crochet looks more complicated than it really is; using only basic stitches allowing the beginner to challenge their new skill or the more experienced to play with something new. Once you have the initial few rows made, the rest is easy-peasy! As soon as you get the hang of the pattern stitch, you won’t even need to look at the pattern.
After the foundation row you will repeat row 2 for the entire pattern

A look back on 2012 - WOW what a year :)

WOW what a fantastic year :)

With over 23 million lifetime views on my YouTube Channel and 18 million just in 2012 it has been the most busiest and most successful year so far. I have gained over 40,000 subscribers WHAT !! O.M.Goodness these numbers are making my head spin. Little ol me ?? Really ?? Some days I have to step back and say WOW I did this ?

I have made so many new wonderful friends and heard hundreds of crochet stories. I have helped save lives through crochet. Helped with suicide and depression. Help family raise money to help pay the bills, save for Xmas pressies and make them feel good about themselves.
Tears are welling in my eyes as I type this and I am so proud of what I have achieved. I am so passionate and dedicated to teaching others crochet that I have to force my self to go to bed :)

Every day bobwilson123 headquarters receives over 300 emails and messages filled with love and support

Thank you to my army of helpers thought out the year. Amanda, Laura, Olgaa, Cassiopia and Monica, it would not be possible with put your dedication and support xx

My thought's and being honest

Hi !
I am not really sure how to start this blog post :)
I never thought that I would be teaching anyone let alone 1000's of people to crochet. It started with one video and 3 years later there are over 400 .. I even shock my self when I look at the stats of my videos. Who would have ever thought that more than 27,000 people would ever care or want to hear what I have to say. I am so blessed to have such a dedicated fan base. No i really am, it is a dream to teach what I love (very addicted to) to any one that will listen. Everyone is so supportive and I can "feel" the support of each and every one of you
Now on to why I started this blog post ....
I would LOVE to make 'bobwilson123' my full time job, at the moment I personally put in 50 plus hours a week to keep it running smoothly, but the pay really sucks hahahahaha To keep me from going back to work full time at a REAL job - yes I have bills too, No fancy car or posh house here :) I have decided to have advertising on my blog, YouTube channel and I am thinking about my Facebook page. I do not want you to think that I am going all commercial and forcing you to use certain products, its not like that at all, its just a way for me to keep bobwilson123 FREE to the consumer - that's you :) I have all my videos and written patterns free for your pleasure. I also have a TEAM and when I say team of ladies we really are a team :) Amanda, Olgaa, Cassie, Laura and Monica help me keep things running smoothly... you didn't think i did EVERYTHING my self did you hehehe I might be good but I'm not Superwoman :) Between my ladies they put in over 35 hours a month.... between us that's a grand total of 235 hours a month !!! EEkk!!
So I hope you understand why I need to have advertising on my various pages, I really do love what I do and love to connect with all of you. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope you are having a great week

CROCHET BASIC BEANIE – HALF DOUBLE CROCHET

Supplies needed:

-Yarn of your choice

-Crochet hook (use hook size according to yarn choice)

-Tapestry needle

-Stitch marker

Stitch abbreviations used in this pattern:

CH – Chain

SC - Single crochet

HDC – Half double crochet

SL ST – Slip stitch

ST – Stitch

Note: Hat is worked in the round and not by joining after each row.

To start, attach a slip knot to your hook.
CH-5, SL ST into first CH to make a ring.

Round 1: CH-2, 6 HDC into the ring, DO NOT JOIN,

{note: if you find that 6 HDC is too tight, you can use 12 HDC, it won’t make a difference to the pattern, it will just make your hat flat at the top instead of pointy}

INSERT STITCH MARKER HERE,
Round- 2:work 2 HDC into first HDC, now 2 HDC in each stitch around until you reach the stitch marker, (12 HDC) move stitch marker up,

Round 3: *1 HDC into next stitch, 2 HDC into the next stitch* Repeat from * to * around until you reach your stitch marker. Ending with 2 HDC in same stitch (ALWAYS on an increase round). Move your stitch marker up.

Round 4: *1 HDC into next 2 stitches, 2 HDC into the next stitch* Repeat from * to * around until you reach your stitch marker. Ending with 2 HDC Move your stitch marker up.

Round 5: *1 HDC into next 3 stitches, 2 HDC into the next stitch* Repeat from * to * around until you reach your stitch marker. Ending with 2 HDC Move your stitch marker up

Round 6: *1 HDC into next 4 stitches, 2 HDC into the next stitch* Repeat from * to * around until you reach your stitch marker. Ending with 2 HDC Move your stitch marker up

NOTE: You will continue to increase each row until you have the size desired for your hat. -DEPENDING ON HOW BIG YOU NEED YOUR HAT WILL DEPEND ON HOW MANY INCREASE ROWS YOU NEED. YOU WILL KEEP INCREASING UNTIL THE HAT CIRCUMFERENCE IS ½ INCH/2CM SMALLER THAN THE CIRCUMFERENCE OF THE HEAD YOU ARE MAKING IT FOR

If you are using worsted weight 4ply yarn you will need a different amount of rows. The following is for 8ply/DK yarn and a 4mm hook

Baby size would be around 8 rounds.
Example: *1 HDC into next 6 stitches, 2 HDC into the next stitch * Repeat from * to * around until you reach your stitch marker. Ending with 2 HDC

For a regular adult hat with a 4mm hook it is around 10 rounds.
Example: Round 10: *1 HDC into next 9 stitches, 2 HDC into the next stitch* Repeat from * to * around until you reach your stitch marker. Ending with 2 HDC

Once your hat is big enough to fit the crown of your head or for the person you are making it for, you will stop with the increase rounds.

TO FINISH YOUR HAT

-Move stitch marker up,

1 HDC in each stitch around. Continue to move your stitch marker up with each round until your hat is the desired length.
In last stitch, SC and then SL ST across the next 2 stitches for a nice finish. Fasten off and sew in tail on inside of hat to hide.
Make sure to sew in tail from beginning of round 1.

Our Yarn Exhibiton at Trainworks

FOr the last 6 month the Crochet and Knitting group that I am the President of have been working very hard on completeing a yarn exhibition to be held at our local steam train museum. Stram trains and yarn dont mix I hear you say ! We were approched by the museum to create items that told the storys of the trains and also to add a bit of 'colour and fun' to the stuffy olf museum - their words not mine

DC - double crochet

Ch - Chain

Sl St - Slip Stitch

Rnd - round

Beginning at the top

Ch 12” (30.5 cms long). You can make it smaller or bigger, it’s entirely up to you.

Untwist your ch with flat side facing you, join with a sl st to form a ring.

Rnd 1: Ch 3, 1 DC in each ch around, join top of ch 3 with a sl st.

Repeat Rnd 1 until your bag is approximately 19 inches (50 cms) long. You can make your one shorter or longer. Changing colors as you desire.

When you’ve reached your desired length, cut yarn and fasten off. Weave in ends.

To add elastic:

Turn bottom of bag inside out, and with your large eyed needle or crochet hook thread the elastic through the back loops of DC stitches, Gather up the elastic so the hole is large enough to put your hand in and take out a bag but not so large that the bags will fall out. Cut the elastic, leaving an extra 1” (or 2.5 cms) for a tail. tie a knot and bury your ends in the back of your work.

Chain Tie Draw String. – Used to hang the bag up

Make a chain 78 inches (2 meters) long. Cut yarn, fasten off. Using the tapestry needle or crochet hook, weave in and out of top of first row of DC all the way around. Put both ends together and tie a knot.

Your bag bag is complete and ready for use
