My relatives are still living with us for a moment after their house has been wiped out by Typhoon Washi last December. While they are in our house, I always witness how the Lord blessed them with lots of help coming from friends and relatives. Almost every week, there are relief goods coming and from canned goods, clothes, plain baby beddings, bed sheets and many others. Everything small thing that they need are being met by God step by step. They are still waiting for a house of their own and I know it will come at the right time.

Pink Friday: My Pink Kipling Bag

I usually bring along a big bag with me, but whenever I go out and buy something, I usually bring my pink Kipling bag. I like this bag because it is small but it can hold up to 3 wallets. It also has lots of pockets to organize your things. It is also very easy to get cash if ever you I need to buy or pay something.

While shopping at SM on their 3 day sale event, I didn't bring anything but only this bag. I enjoyed shopping and but it took me 2 hours to pay waiting in a long queue. I took a small chair to sit on so I won't get tired of waiting.

Despite the rise of big malls and superstores, convenience stores are still emerging these days. Just recently, there is a newly opened convenience store near our place. Whenever supermarkets are already close, I got a chance to buy some groceries and toiletries on this nearby convenience store because it is open 24 hours. From the name itself, it really provides convenience to the customer because you will easily get what you want without standing and waiting in a long queue. Added to that, it also a convenient place to stay because most of the time it serves as a snack bar or a coffee shop for most people.

More often, it is located to a nearby gas station or alongside busy roads or other transportation hubs. Convenient stores nowadays are becoming very modern with its concepts and designs. It also has modern facilities and equipment including branded computers and Honeywell Barcode Scanner. Concerning prices, convenience stores are usually more expensive to regular superstores or supermarkets but it is just worth the price because you can save a lot of your time without waiting in cashier lines.

Cigarette Smoking is Dangerous to Your Health

This caution statement that says “Cigarette Smoking is Dangerous to Your Health” is often read in most cigarette packets and I’m sure smokers are well informed about it. Despite the government’s warning, smokers are still into smoking. Some would even buy those branded cigars like cao cigars and many others. Medical experts even remind everyone that if you don’t quit smoking, you will have bad breath, respiratory problems and heart diseases. So, I guess it is better to think and act now before it’s too late.

Love for Guitars

My husband is a guitarist. He started playing the guitar when he was 10 years old and since then he has never left his love for guitars. Every time we go out, he never fails to visit a music store just to update himself of the latest guitars and gadgets. He also enjoys window shopping on online music shops like guitar-world and ends up being satisfied just by looking at the photos.

He had a Fender strat guitar and after a year he bought another Ibanez guitar. Another year he bought another guitar and his latest guitar was an acoustic guitar from Yamaha. I couldn’t understand why he has to buy guitars year after year, where in fact it is still the same guitar. But later on he explained to me that some music can be well played with a specific kind of guitar. He already had 7 guitars, which include 4 electric guitars, 1 bass guitar and 2 acoustic guitars. He wanted to own a Les Paul Gibson guitar (his dream guitar) but it would cost a year’s salary to have it.

One of the cutest stuff on earth are baby stuff. Well, I have been a fan of those cute, tiny little thing. It should be the softest among the soft! You can also play with the design. Choosing a calm color can give your baby comfort and ease. Changing baby bedding between daytime and nighttime is crucial. You should keep it clean all the time thus, a different bedding at nighttime can be smart since she can puke or mess around with the beddings at daytime. Comfort and cleanliness is very crucial for babies, so you should be providing them with it at all times!

I have mentioned in my previous post that we had a Hawaiian Theme Birthday for my cousin in our house. One of the foods we prepared is sliced Butter Cake placed in cupcake holders. To make it more attractive to children, we put umbrella decors to match the birthday theme. The kids find it very nice and they requested to put a cake with umbrella on their plates.

The Hawaiian Theme Birthday

My cousin Zane celebrated her 4th birthday last April 17 and since it is summer here in the Philippines we decided to have a Hawaiian theme birthday party. It was just a simple celebration with cousins and some friends. We had limited budget so everything was personalized. I was the one who made her grass skirt, the sun flower headband and the decorations, while her mom prepared the food and other stuff for the party. Visitors came in their floral outfits and they enjoyed the simple celebration. It would have been nice if we have patio furniture sets for the party but like I said, it was just a simple party prepared to make the celebrant happy.

This is my cousin Zboy proudly showing his awards. Their teacher didn't inform us about his awards but just informed us to join the Commencement Exercises last March 29, 2012. When we were there at the program, we were surprised to read the name of Zboy as the Gold Awardee in Grade 1. He also got other awards like Best in Reading, Best in Spelling, President's Award and I forgot the other two awards. All in all he got 6 awards.

Enjoying the Summer

My niece and my little cousins had fun yesterday because they were swimming on a kiddie pool. They were on the pool for almost 2 hours and they didn’t want to stop. They suggested to have a picnic activity next time, but I guess I will still have to set up some Polywood Tables or buy a kiddie tent for them to enjoy the picnic. Other activities on their plans include craft making, baking, treasure hunting, and many others. I hope these kids will surely enjoy their summer class break.

What Happened to my Canon Powershot A70?

My first ever digital camera was my Canon Powershot A70. Actually, it was my husband’s camera but since I am into blogging he gave it to me. It’s a bit bulky compared to the recent digital cameras nowadays but I’m quite satisfied with the pictures I got out of this camera. However, I can no longer use it starting last June because it won’t “turn on”. The batteries doesn’t last an hour so I bought new set of batteries. But still it didn’t worked. I thought of buying an original canon batteries but my husband told me that it has nothing to do with the batteries. I also wished to have it repaired, but my husband suggested to just buy a new one.

Remembering My Graduation Day

It's the month of March and it's the culmination of classes here in the Philippines. I have a friend who will be graduating this 24th and I have cousin who will also be graduating this 28th. March is a busy month for the graduating students but at the same time, it's the month of excitement because they have finally finished their studies and will eventually enter a new phase of their life. While thinking about Graduation programs, I was reminded how happy I was when I graduated. It was a day of great joy. My heart was filled with gratefulness to God. I was truly grateful to all the people have been used by God to help me finish my studies. Graduation programs are the best times to thank our parents, friends and classmates.

To the Class of 2012, Congratulations!

A Teacher's Responsibility

Being a teacher to little kids is a big responsibility. I play the role of a second parent to the little ones that are dependent on what I impart to them. I always make sure that I teach them right values and good conduct, so that when they grow up, they will become responsible and law-abiding and God-fearing citizens. I also encourage the little children to always follow their dreams and aim for high. I tell them that someday, one of them will become doctors and nurses that wear immaculate and clean nursing scrubs, or they will become teachers like me or a policeman to fight crime or maybe become the next president of the country. My role is never that easy, I should also be a model to them, otherwise, I am pretty useless being a teacher.

Keeping the Kitchen Clean

The kitchen is one of the most flexible rooms in the house. It is used to prepare meals and it can also serve as a dining area especially if you have a small house. Moreover, it is also used to store foods and other household items.

As what I have learned in my high school lesson, the kitchen should be the cleanest part of the house because it is where foods are stored and prepared. However, I have problems with making my kitchen clean and tidy because it’s very small and I have lots of stuff stored in it. Experts would say that a well designed kitchen has minimal clutter and has maximum efficiency. The problem is I can always see a messy kitchen every now and then.

Because of the problem on keeping the kitchen tidy, my husband decided to install additional ready to assemble kitchen cabinets for our kitchen. In this way, some of the things and tools we have in the kitchen will be stored and kept in those cabinets. Moreover, I also need to discard all unnecessary stuff in the kitchen. I guess I will have to dispose all those gadgets or appliances that just simply add space and are not anymore usable. I will also have to regularly remove rotten veggies and etc on the fridge and clean it more often. Well, I hope I will be consistent on my plan to keep my kitchen clean. How about you? Do you find it hard to keep your kitchen clean?

Playing Sack Race

Sack Race is a fun outdoor games for kids and adults. This is fun to do during beach parties, birthday parties and other events. In this game you will need to use a sack and chairs.

How to play this game?

Group the kids/adults into two. If you have a big crowd you can divide the group into 3. The number of participants or members in the group depends on the number of people who wants to join the game. However, you need to maintain a manageable number of members so it will be easy for you to identify who wins the game.
Have the group stand in line or form in line and each group a sack. For adult participants, it is best to use a big size sack so they can easily move around as they play.
Put a chair in front of the group at least 10 meters distance away from them. The chair will serve as their point of reference.
Have the first person in line to get inside the sack. Wait for the "GO" signal to be given. Then the participants will hop towards the reference point or the chairs when the referee signals a "GO".
The first group who will be able to finish ahead of the others will be declared the winner.

Very easy isn't it? So go ahead, try this fun game in your parties and you will surely have fun.

This is me and my sister in law Cookie. This photo was taken at Mallberry Suites Hotel in one of our blogging events. While waiting for the other bloggers to come, we chose to wait at the lounge and sat on their beautiful chaise lounge chair. The waiting time was never boring because we enjoyed our time talking, taking pictures and getting to know other bloggers. We were very happy to see faces behind the blogs and get to know some tips from other bloggers. After a few minutes, the event organizer called us and we headed on to our meeting venue.

On Cars and Auto Parts

A few weeks ago, one of our cars has been damaged and until now its still haven’t fixed because there’s a specific auto part that needs to be purchased. My husband visited a number of auto shops in the city but he found none. Some auto shops told him that the auto part has to be purchased to its dealer. Feeling desperate about the situation, I tried to find the auto part online. While browsing online, I was bumped into Auto 7, an automotive parts company. It’s a trusted company and they have been in the business for 57 years. Although I don’t have much knowledge about carts and their auto parts, I got stuck in that site and read about Auto7 electric fuel pump reviews. I told my husband that I found a site where he can buy the auto parts that he needs for our car. However, I realized they only sells original equipment parts for Hyundai, Kia and GM- Daewoo vehicles. Sigh… I hope they sell original equipments for Honda.

High School Classmates

This photo was taken 16 years ago. It's pretty obvious because our faces look so funny then. One of my classmate reacted when she saw this photo on Facebook because she don't like her face. LOL!

I am blessed to have these friends. We met occasionally especially on special events like birthdays and we already made a commitment to meet every December. It was this last December that we were not able to meet because of Typhoon Sendong.

Some of my high classmates were already working abroad, so whenever we have gatherings you can't expect a perfect attendance. But we are hoping that we will be complete in our next get together this coming December.

Stair Railings for All Buildings

When you are going to be building a new home there are a lot of factors you need to look into. One thing that sometimes can be overlooked is the stair railings. Sometimes a really nice staircase will be put together but the railings are overlooked until the end of the project. This can cause some unwanted extra work. The stair railings usually fit nicely into the newel post. If you have your post first and not your railing you will have to find a railing that fits with your post. Some stair railings will fit in with any type of building, no matter what kind it is. These are usually the more common sold online designs. If you really want to make a statement you can do that with your staircase. So just remember to be creative and choose high quality stair parts.

It's a blessing to have Zane (my 3 year old cousin) to live with us in our house. Their house has been wiped out by the flood due to Typhoon Sendong(Washi) and they are living with us for the mean time. She's my playmate and my constant companion in the house. She loves to play, read stories, eat and dance with me. One afternoon, I asked her to wear some nice clothes coz, I'm going to take a picture of her. She was so excited and I was surprised to see her wearing boots and a blouse and skirt. I fixed her hair, put on some accessories and she was very eager to pose in front of the camera. This little girl is such a darling!

The question on how to plan a funeral is definitely one of the strangest questions one will ever ask. Why is it strange? Because not very many people would be open to planning funerals. This is but natural because people have an understandable fear for death. But planning something that will definitely come is invaluable, and for those who are open to the idea, they are one step ahead to the rest of the world. One person, a medical practitioner, was known to have prepared and planned his funeral well ahead of time. This was unknown to his loved ones, but not from his secretary who was instrumental in making it happen. The funeral plan was only revealed when the doctor finally died. He planned every little detail, from the money to pay for his coffin and his funeral services, to the people who will give his eulogy during the funeral services. In a nutshell, its something that we all must think about. Just like getting an insurance or health care, planning a funeral ahead can actually ease the burdens of those who are in grief.

Gifts for Moms on Mother's Day

I know it’s too early for me to be talking about Mother’s Day but I am now thinking about it because I am the one who is in charge in the preparation for the tokens for the moms in our church. I wanted the mothers to feel special on Mother’s Day, that is why I want to prepare a gift that will be useful for them in their daily activities. Recently, I’ve seen some affordable gift baskets in beauty shops and I find it a practical gift for the moms because they can use it in the bathroom or when they do their usual beauty regimen. I was also planning on preparing floral bouquets or floral baskets so they will truly feel special on Mother's Day. Since, I still have a few more months left to prepare, I hope I can come up with a very special gift for the mothers in our church.
