Diocletian’s Palace, Split

Traveling north to Split, we will find another city with an even more ancient history. Before we get to the really old stuff, lets talk about Diocletian's Palace.

Diocletian Palace is actually a 30,000 square meter complex that takes up most of Split's old town. The complex was built in the 4th century the Roman emperor Diocletian after he renounced the throne and settling in Split, which was in the Illyrian province of Rome at the time.

Many people still live and work within the complex. You'll find restaurants, shops, and hotels scattered among the numerous ruins and sites such as the Golden Gate, the Temple of Jupiter, and Diocletian's mausoleum.

Ancient Roman City of Salona, Split

It's said that the fortress looked so intimidating that no one every even tried to test it.

Nowadays, people can freely take a stroll inside the massive walls and explore many of the passageways and impressive architecture. You can access the fort by foot on a beach path, but be sure to double check as sometimes it is closed to renovations and the only way into the island is by boat tour.

Pula Arena, Pula

Way up north from our other locations in the city of Pula, we will one of the most preserved Roman amphitheaters you can visit. The Pula arena was built in the 1st century during the reign of Emperor Vespasian who was also responsible for the Colosseum. The arena once held up to 20,000 spectators for various brutal tournaments.

Today we can safely visit the arena and takin just how massive of a structure it really is. You can even see a show here if you're lucky. Shows with much less violence of course! It regularly hosts famous artists from around the world. As well as film festivals and even mainstream pop stars. But if you can't make a show while during your trip, it is still more than worth it to visit Pula and see this incredible arena.

Also, keep in mind that if your application is denied there is no way to appeal that decision.

On the other hand, you can reapply at a later date, unless the case officer that reviews your case puts an exclusion notification on your file. Such instances are, however, rare and only occur with serious convictions, such as drug trafficking, people trafficking, sexual abuse, or terrorism.

Bringing along a nice deck of cards is a must for us. It's probably the easiest thing to pack on this list and arguably the most entertaining. There are card games for kids of all ages that the whole family can enjoy. The Classic Sneaker
If your trip doesn't require dress shoes or any other type of specialty shoe, consider a pair of classic sneakers. This category includes Chuck Taylors from Converse, the Old Skool line from Vans, the Samba Classic from Adidas, the Serrano from Onitsuka Tiger, and various re-issued retro styles from brands such as Puma, Nike, and Reebok.

The beauty of a pair of classic sneakers is that they can be as dressed up or dressed down as you make them. In fact, Converse even markets a line of their Chuck Taylors as wedding sneakers. Also, they don't take up much room in your luggage if you want to bring them along as a secondary pair of shoes.

The Urban Boot

One of the most versatile shoes for traveling is a comfortably worn-in pair of Dr. Martens. The Dr. Martens brand is known for making stylish slip-resistant shoes for men and women since 1901, and a pair of their boots can be worn in a variety of contexts, from semi-formal to casual. If the 1990s taught us nothing else, we learned that "Docs" (as they're called by fans of the brand) could be worn with shorts, jeans, chinos, dresses, and even formal suits.

Since a pair of Docs can take up more space in your luggage than most of the shoes listed here, wear them as you travel and pack a lighter secondary style of shoe. Once you break in a pair of Docs, they'll be more than comfortable enough for travel days.

Docs come in many styles, including classic lace-up boots of varying heights, Chelsea-style boots, Oxford-style low-tops, sandals, tassel loafers, Mary Janes, brogue-style shoes, and slip-ons. The company makes vegan alternatives in many of the styles.

Low-Profile Hiking Shoes

Another popular shoe choice for those traveling light are low-profile hiking shoes. Youheum Son, a minimalism life coach whose YouTube channel "Heal Your Living" inspires viewers to find joy in living more simply, often recommends a barefoot-style shoe as part of an overall goal of being more mindful while walking. Sandal Territory

For some, the measure of a terrific vacation is not having to wash any socks when you get back. But sandals can be useful in other climates and terrains, such as summer in New Mexico or Colorado.

Many retirees are deciding to bring in extra money by doing side jobs or working online. If you retire in another country you may run into not being able to do certain jobs because you are a non-resident and can't do certain jobs. You could easily offend someone as well. For example, in some Asian countries, taking someone's business card and slipping it into your pocket without looking at it can be taken as a slight to that person and their business. So, study up on what you're allowed to do for a job in the country you're considering for retirement, and study up on what offends the citizens and what doesn't to be on the safe side.

Consider a Dress Rehearsal
Instead of just jumping on the plane and settling into your country of choice, why not do a dress rehearsal first? Rent a house and live in the area for at least six months. Study, research, and immerse yourself in the culture of the area. If after six months you're still in love with the country, then start making plans to retire there and live out the rest of your days happily.

These are just a few of the things that you should consider when you're thinking of retiring in another country. While living abroad is great, you need to make sure that you know what you're in for. Essentials When Organizing Your Travel Medical Kit

Accidents happen on a daily basis and as a traveler, you need to be prepared. I don't usually find it anything to worry about but I have found over the years that it certainly helps to be prepared. The first aid kit is one of the most important things to help with that preparation, so it is therefore important to organize one when heading out on the road.

The things we use 99% of the time are painkillers or band-aids/bandages of some sort so adding those to your first aid kit is a great first step. However, It is also really important to be ready for that 1% chance that things may actually get more serious! Especially when you travel with children I find the peace of mind and convenience of having things already on hand is really valuable.

A first aid kit gives you the ability to provide quick medical assistance while professional medical assistance is not yet accessible or even available at all. You can never overestimate the importance of a travel first aid kit, especially during emergency situations. Someone around you may ingest a harmful substance, perhaps your child has an allergic reaction or is bit by a dog. Instead of being just a bystander, you can become an invaluable support to the victim.

Organizing Your Travel Medical Kit

To have peace of mind, you need a medical kit within reach whenever you go on travel. Whether you are an experienced traveler or a beginner backpacker, here’s a handy checklist of things your first aid kit should contain:

Band-aids and gauze pads – These will help treat injuries of any size. Keep a pack of band-aids and gauze pads of several sizes. Otherwise, you may just buy large gauze pads and just cut them down to the size you need in case of any emergency.
Antiseptic – An anti-septic will help prevent infection when cleaning wounds and scrapes. While you may use soap and water to flush out dirt and debris from a wound, antiseptics not only cleanse the wound but also provide pain relief.
Antibiotic Ointment – This can go a long way and can also be used in cuts, wounds, and scrapes to prevent infection.
Analgesic – This is a type of pain reliever that can combat migraines, toothache, and other forms of body ache. Include some ibuprofen and aspirin if analgesic does not work for you.
Antihistamine – if in case you suffer from severe allergies, antihistamines such as Aerius tablets will help combat the negative effects it brings. I also have found them useful for dealing with hives, bee stings, or even scorpion sings like we experienced while living in Costa Rica.
Disinfectant and rubbing alcohol – Alcohol wipes are more ideal when on travel but it’s best to have rubbing alcohol or disinfectant on hand. You can usually pick this up quite easily when landing someplace as well.
Scissors – it should be obvious why you need scissors but they really come handy in case of emergency when you need to cut clothing, adhesive tapes, or any materials needed in emergency situations. But be careful if using only carry on as you won't be able to get scissors through. Only add them if you have checked bags.
Latex Gloves – Using latex gloves is a clean and necessary way to protect yourself against bacteria or other contaminants during emergency situations. I've found them helpful even in a non-medical situation to deal with a whole host of gross things you may want to protect your hands from.
Tweezers – they can be used to remove hangnails, stingers, splinters, and ingrown hairs. I've found you can usually get these on a plane even if you only have carried on.
Instant Cold and Hot Pack – you can apply them on bruises, bumps, and sprains. They sell pretty small ones so having one on hand is great. Sometimes I even carry a small heating pad as personally, they help for a whole bunch of uncomfortable things such as cramps, headaches, etc.

Other things to include in a first aid kit are motion sickness tablets, contraceptive pills, prescription drugs, and general vitamins or supplements. Taking supplements like multivitamins or CBD gummies can greatly improve your chances of staying healthy while traveling in a foreign country.

You can also search for emergency numbers in the country you are visiting to ensure your safety. I usually ask at the front desk when checking into a hotel so I feel less panicked if something goes wrong in the middle of the night!

Thorough research about the common diseases in that area is also helpful to know what you will do in case you feel ill while traveling.

Traveling is fun especially when you know you are safe, and often having a health kit in your bag gives you the assurance that all will be well during your vacation.

Valencia, Spain, more than just beautiful beaches

Spain has long been a highly sought after vacation spot in Europe. There are so many wonderful locations within the small country that you can easily become overwhelmed by which spot to choose for a vacation.

The region of Valencia, located on the Eastern coast, is home to many beautiful beaches and stunning backdrops which make it a lovely destination. I personally love beaches but when on a trip I prefer a spot that has a little more to offer. Valencia fits that bill by providing something for everyone from beauty and relaxation to sports and amazing food!

Beaches
I have to start off by mentioning what is most popular in the region. There is so much more to the area than the beaches but with around 460 km of coastline, you are bound to want to spend some of your vacation in cheeky bikini bottoms or board shorts on a beach. They are glorious and well worth a couple days just exploring and relaxing.

Benidorm and the Costa Blanca are probably your best bet if beaches are your main priority. In both locations, you will discover idyllic coves and crystal clear water perfect for relaxation. Both destination spots can offer culture and thrills as well but are most well known for the stunning coastal scenery.

Thrill-seeking
If you are like us then no trip can be complete without some sort of, scare the heck out of your parents, event. Otherwise known as thrill-seeking! In Valencia, there are several spots this can be accomplished via cave exploration, theme parks, zip lining and so much more.

If you are looking for a spot to go look no further than Terra Mítica, Terra Natura, Mundomar, and Aqualandia theme parks. You can also get your fill of water activities in towns such as Alicante, Dénia, Altea, and Torrevieja which enjoy perfect weather for spending your days in and around the water.

Culture
Any time you spend in Spain will offer cultural experiences. Some places will offer more depth than others. Elche and Alcoi are the types of towns that offer rich cultural and artistic heritage while at the same time offering coastal charm and mountain allure.

Valencia is also where you can enjoy local festivals, which are some of my favorite ways to explore an area. Las Fallas, La Tomatina, and Holy week are wonderful to be a part of and will give you a beautiful glimpse into local heritage.

Food
Valencia is famous for its beaches and coastline but it is also known for its gastronomic culture Some typical dishes you can enjoy are paella, fartons, Spanish omelets, and horchata just to name a few. You will delight in discovering where your Spanish palette lies and you can enjoy these spoils throughout the entire region.

When most people travel, they try to minimize the amount of luggage they take with them. This is a wise approach. Carrying too much baggage is a pain and can work out very expensive. So, it does not make sense to carry anything you do not need. Especially when backpacking.

As a result, most of us tend to stick to packing casual clothes. Typically, this works out well because these types of clothes are perfect for most of the activities you will be doing during your trip. However, every now and again you need to look smart.

Perhaps you get invited to a party. Or, maybe, as a long-term traveler you need to stop off and work somewhere for a few weeks. In both situations, you will want something nicer to wear than a pair of shorts and a tank top. So, what do you pack? How do you get the balance right? You want access to smart clothes without using up too much space in your case. Well, here are a few outfit suggestions to help you to solve that particular conundrum.

A soft pencil skirt
Pencil skirts look great on virtually any woman. If you choose one that is made from a soft fabric like jersey it will pack up nice and tight, without creasing. Lace is another option, especially if you are going to a special event like a wedding while you are away. It can also work for a nice meal out.

Maxi skirts are another great option. They can look really glamorous when worn with a blouse. Smart trousers
Rather than pack two pairs of jeans, why not swap one of them for a pair of smart trousers. A pair of close-fitting chino trousers can look very smart when worn with heels and a crisp white, tailored blouse. The fact they are made from cotton means they are really good for when you are traveling in a hot climate. Natural fabrics allow your skin to breathe and wick moisture away from your body. Low heels
Trainers and flat sandals are great for traveling in. They are super comfortable, but, a pair of low-heels can really lift your look. Kitten heel slingbacks or court shoes look super smart. There is also the option of taking a ferry to Los Cristianos or Santa Cruz, but this is obviously the most time-intensive route.

Once on the island, you will discover a modern network of roadways, as well as a great public transportation system by way of clean, air, conditioned buses and trams to take you to all of the best destinations for trekking. Renting a car is another option and will give you the most flexibility to explore the whole island. It's best to check with them first to see if they have bike racks though.

Thankfully lots of people have already been there before you, including us about 100 times over, and we have put together the best tried and tested tips to help make your flight as comfortable and easy as possible when you have little people in tow.

Best Tips for Parents Flying with Kids

Know Your Airline
First of all, you should take the time to check the regulations with the specific airline you have chosen to use. There are differences between each one concerning things like how many baby items you can take with you, for example, travel cribs and strollers.

If you are going on holiday, it's worth checking with your accommodation as well as many have these hard to travel with items that are available as part of the package or to hire for a nominal fee. If you can navigate the airport without needing them you will save yourself a lot of hassle.

Know the age limits for children requiring their own seat, and when it is acceptable to have the child in the arms of a parent for a whole flight. We oftentimes just look at actual money savings but sometimes the extra couple hundred dollars are worth it to have a little more space to utilize.

All major airlines offer priority boarding as standard to parents with babies, so take advantage of this if it helps. For us, we always wait until the end as our energetic little ones need to run around as long as possible. Try both and do whatever works for you.

Make Things Simple

This is possibly the wrong time to show off your toddler's newfound ability to use the bathroom. Pop your child in pull-ups for the duration and should accidents occur the damage is limited and clean up simple. Do make sure you have spare clothes easily accessible as you never know if they may soil themselves or end up being sick. This is a lesson hard-learned by not being totally prepared. Believe me, it's not just the child that needs extra clothes, consider bringing another top for yourself as well and zip lock bags to contain the soiled items.

Wet wipes, baby detergent, and children's Tylenol are also well-advised to be kept close as you never know when they might be a godsend. Make sure each child has their own bag of goodies to keep them entertained - keep it simple but have a few different things to do as even an hour flight can seem to take forever when you have bored or fractious children.

And don't be afraid to let the kiddos use a tablet or phone, they won't become addicts or turn into couch potatoes in 1 day and it may well save you loads of frustrations.

Understand Compensation Rules
Sadly delays have become a regular part of flight travel, but that is not to say they should become acceptable. A delay of more than three hours can be stressful enough for adults but trying to calm kids and keep them entertained can really ruin the opening of your trip. Under EU rules in this situation, you are entitled to claim compensation, and you really should take up that right once you are back in the country.

The airport should offer you a food and drink voucher which at least means you can distract them for some of the time, and a walk through the airport could mean they are nicely tired when you do finally get to board. However, be sure to claim your compensation to make up for the inconvenience.

If you do miss a flight or have a delay be sure to check out the airport for playgrounds and other entertainment ideas, some airports even have hotel beds and mini amusement parks. You never know unless you inquire. And do not hesitate to make a stink with the airport if it was their mistake. 5 Tips For Looking Your Best While Traveling

When traveling there are countless intangible benefits that you come to realize are happening. I could drone on for days about all the amazing experiences, lessons learned, stunning photography opportunities, and about the overall good times to be had when living life on the road. But as is true for anything in life, nothing is perfect and in traveling you will find no exception.

One of the more difficult aspects is also a somewhat shallow one....looking our best! Because of packing constraints, long overnight train journeys or flights, jet lag, and an overall inability to give a damn at times, looking our best can sometimes be a tall order.

Here are 5 Tips for Looking Your Best While Traveling

Haircare

For those with frizzy and thick hair, it can be quite difficult to maintain, especially while traveling. As far as I can tell you basically have 3 choices. You can cut your hair very short or even shave your head. That option is usually a difficult one for women though so I am going to guess not that many of you want to go that route. Men may go with that for ease.

You can also go with not giving a damn about it. Throw it up in a ponytail, throw a hat on, or just let it be however it is going to be. I have admittedly gone that route many, many times and I suspect you all have at one point or another as well.

If you don't want to do either of those things then really the only choice, especially with crazy hair is to find a great product that works for your particular hair. Something like hair gel, or perhaps a spray, oil, or mousse will help to tame your locks. My personal favorite is anything that helps me travel light and works well with minimal effort. Try and narrow it down to 1 or 2 things and make them work for you!

As a bonus tip if you are going on a short trip try a good dry shampoo. I had never even heard of this until recently but I swear by it now for trips up to a week long. It works wonders on all types of hair and can save valuable space/weight in your luggage.

Clothes
Clothes take up the majority of any suitcase. You obviously want to be as comfortable as you can while still looking great. Be sure to only pack as much as you think you'll need and get comfortable now with the idea of wearing your clothes more than once before washing. It's a whole other world when you have to hand wash things in a sink. They quite quickly pass the sniff test that they may have failed when you were still at home.

The best advice I can give here is to try and pack things that are neutral in color so you can pair them up with multiple items. If you need color then bring some small accessories to add that color splash! Keep it simple and most importantly choose multi-purpose items. There is only so much weight you can carry so make each and every item really count. A couple nice full figure dresses can help if you're looking to have at least one or two professional outfits on your trip.

Makeup

Sorry guys, this one is for the ladies but I assure you it will be short and sweet! My advice for this one is super simple, take out what you normally use and then cut it in half, and then cut that in half again. You won't need a lot and I find some cover-up, mascara, and eyeliner along with a good lipstick or lip gloss are plenty. Less is definitely more as far as makeup while traveling goes. Most of the time we were in humid climates or spending lots of time at the beach and none was warranted at all.

Sleep
Sleep is one of the most important tools we have for looking our best. If you are constantly partying, traveling too fast, jet-lagged, and missing out on sleep your body will show it. Try and get at least 7 hours of sleep a night. Your body will thank you as a good night's sleep can do wonders in regards to detoxing both your body and mind.

Drink Water

One sure way to look and feel terrible is to allow your body and your skin to become dehydrated. Probably the worst I have ever felt traveling was due to a terrible headache brought on by refusing to drink water on a long overland bus journey.

The best advice I can give is to drink water as much as you can, moisturize your skin especially for air travel, and avoid alcohol because it only furthers the dehydration process. All these things will help maintain good skin integrity and keep you looking and feeling your best.

5 Benefits to Staying in an Apartment Instead of a Hotel

After figuring out how to get to your location the next item on the list is typically accommodation. While we were traveling quickly around Asia I found that looking for the right hotel or apartment was the thing that took up the majority of my time. There are just so many options it is hard to decide what to do.

Add in the fact that we have a rather large family, by hotel standards anyway, and deciding on the best spot gets that much more complicated. Depending on what your family dynamic is, what your needs are for your stay, and what the length of your stay is, you may find that an apartment rental is more beneficial than staying in a hotel.

Here are 5 benefits to staying in an apartment instead of a hotel:

Eating In
As a large family, one of our biggest expenses is food. When we stay in a hotel we are forced to eat nearly every meal out at a restaurant. Some places in the world this is no big deal but when you move into Europe, Australia, or the United States the cost can get truly outrageous.

Hotel rooms often include mini-refrigerators and possibly a coffee maker or microwave but that is it. In an apartment, we typically found full kitchens so we could make real meals rather than just snacks. Grocery shopping and cooking rather than eating out can save a load of money freeing it up for more important activities like scuba diving or skiing.

Space
For us, this is hugely important. Staying in a small hotel room gives you very little space to stretch out, organize your things, or really have any privacy at all. With 3 boys it is so helpful to have separated rooms so everyone can do their own thing. I also find that when living a nomadic life staying in an apartment or house gives a little bit more of a "home" feeling, far more than when staying in a one-room hotel.

If staying someplace for a while we have even been able to entertain for dinners and have friends stay with us. This is simply not an option in a hotel room. There just isn't the space to do it!

Cost
You may think fully furnished apartments would be more expensive than a hotel room but we have found the opposite to be true, even before factoring in the food cost savings by eating in. For example, if you plan a trip to London a 2 bedroom flat can be far less expensive than a nice downtown hotel. And if you want you can even split that cost with another family since there will be so much more space.

The same is true all over the world. In both Thailand and Malaysia, we saved a fortune by staying in an apartment and it was more comfortable as well!

If you plan to only stay in an area for a couple of days then the apartment is probably not going to save you money, in fact, it may be more expensive. For travelers staying put for 1-2 weeks or more, there are often times great rates offered for those extended stays. I have had good luck bargaining with hotels as well but never managed to get them a low as an apartment's weekly or monthly rate.

Privacy
Sometimes privacy doesn't matter, especially if you are on a short trip but most of the time it only takes a few days for privacy to become a bigger issue. Parents need some quiet space and children do as well. Oftentimes we would get 2 hotel rooms rather than just 1 but an apartment is so much more comfortable and private.

It's nice internally to have more privacy as well as when you want to sit outside and just relax. It gets very old to hear children bickering or to have to get fully dressed before heading out the door to grab a coffee. In a house or apartment, you can make your own and enjoy the privacy that having your own yard or balcony can provide. Even the nicest hotels cannot offer this same level of privacy.

Local Exposure
I don't know about you but for us, one of the things we love most about travel is getting to see how locals live. When you stay in a hotel it is typically in tourist row and the experience is nothing at all like it is for locals.

Granted most apartments we stay in are also slightly different standards that locals tend to live in but usually, they are located in a local neighborhood and we are able to immerse ourselves in the culture by living like locals and among neighbors. It just feels a bit more authentic!

There you have it; the case for apartment stays instead of hotel stays! It's not for everyone but under certain circumstances, it is a far more valuable experience. I love staying in hotels as well for certain reasons but overall the better value and experience is in staying in an apartment.

Your kids might be excited to get inside and you’ve told them it will just be a minute, only to discover you have a 45-minute line up in the hot sun to exchange your voucher for real entry tickets! Plan ahead when visiting attractions and check that the service sells you real tickets to avoid the longest hour of your life with whiney kids!

2. Carry Snacks

Yep – seems obvious! But if you’re not prepared you can discover there are no more granola bars or apples in your bag just when you’ve been informed that the bus journey is actually 3 hours longer than promised and you won’t be making stops to buy food! Little tummies can’t hold as much as an adult tummy and kids need regular top-ups.

Make sure everyone has at least a bottle of water and that you have a stash of snacks for those emergency situations. A squashed flat bag of dried fruit or crushed biscuits from the recesses of your day pack is better than nothing at all.

3. Know Where The Toilets Are

Kids often don’t need to go to the toilet until OH MY GOD I NEED TO GO NOOOOOOWWWW MUM!! Keep an eye out for bathroom stops and encourage your kids to use them, just in case! I’d suggest a small packet of tissues tucked into your bag too.

4. Know your kid’s sleep needs

If your kids are like mine they will fit in with whatever routine your family is in that week. Seeing events that are once-in-a-lifetime sights might mean your kids have to stay up later than they are used to. Plan to let them sleep in the next day rather than having a busy outing planned so you can all enjoy the event without worrying about the fall-out the next day.

Sometimes in all the craziness of travel, it can be difficult to get a good night's sleep, but it may not be the only reason. An at-home cortisol test can help you determine if there is a physical reason you kid may be having a hard time sleeping at night and you can't figure out why.

5. Take Some Time to Relax on Your Trip

It's safe to say we all need a little time to decompress, but some kids may need it a little more often. Long travel days and sightseeing can really take a toll on everyone. Planning an off day here and there where everyone can recharge and be energized for the exciting adventures to come!

Joshua Tree National Park, California

Joshua Tree National park is probably the most unique of the parks in this article. Located in the middle of the Colorado and Mojave desert Joshua Tree is one of the few really dry places where camping can be very enjoyable.

There are plenty of great hikes in Joshua Tree, but what makes this park so cool is the landscape. Super dry desert with wild rock formations all around you. In fact, most of the campgrounds in the park are surrounded by these natural playgrounds as I like to call them. Keep an eye on the weather if you plan on camping in Joshua Tree during the summer as it can get extremely hot!

Acadia National Park, Maine

As summer is coming to an end, maybe you want to go camping in the winter? No problem! Acadia National Park features campgrounds that are open all year round with certain restrictions. You can enjoy this 17-million acre forest and the 6,000 lakes and ponds within it all year round. If you plan on camping in Acadia in the winter make sure you're prepared for the cold! As it can get as cold as 10F/-21C.

If you plan to camp during prime time, it’s suggested that you make a reservation at a lot of these campgrounds because of how popular the area is. Surrounding the area, you’ll find stunning lighthouses, beautiful nature, wildlife creatures, and great seafood.

Yosemite National Park, California

I’m sure this is a name that you are familiar with. Yosemite National Park has been protected since 1864 and is known for having some of the most beautiful scenery in the whole country. In this 1,200 square mile park, you can enjoy meadows, sequoias, the wilderness areas, and deep valleys with stunning cliff faces.

Camping is extremely popular in this park. There are three areas that offer camping with multiple different campgrounds in each area. These all have their own opening and closing date as well as what is allowed in the park and what isn’t in terms of travel and sleep. Most campgrounds allow RV’s, so if that’s how you’re traveling, you’ll be in luck.

You can also find many campsites deeper in the park if you plan on a multiday hike like climbing Half Dome. You may require a permit though so be sure to research beforehand.

Ozark National Forest, Arkansas

Arkansas has a gorgeous landscape that is often overlooked. In the Ozark National Forest alone you have access to nine beaches, thousands of acres of lakes and streams, and 400 miles of hiking trails. Ozark National Forest is a place to get out and experience nature at its finest.

There are over 20 developed campgrounds in the area. Plenty of options for tent or RV camping. Keep in mind, some of the campsites may still be closed due to COVID, however, many are starting to open up again now.

The Adirondack Park, New York

The Adirondack Park is one of the largest national parks in the United States. It’s bigger than the Everglades, Glacier, Grand Canyon, and Yellowstone National parks combined. It has an area of 6 million acres and half of it has been constitutionally protected by the forest preserve to remain forever wild.
