The Chocolate Hills placed Bohol on the tourist map long before the beautiful white beaches of the island became major tourist destinations. The most famous and signature tourist attraction of Bohol, it is a prime tourist destination in the Philippines. This is because the Chocolate Hills are incomparable and is one of the country's most spectacular sceneries. Philippine President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, who admits that she is the No. 1 tourist of Bohol for having visited the province so many times, said: "Bohol is a major tourist province. The fame of the Chocolate Hills is not only known in the country but worldwide." The national government has chosen the Chocolate Hills as one of its "flagship tourist destinations".

Of the 1,247 hills, two have been developed into resorts for tourism. The original resort is located in Carmen, Bohol located in Barangay Buenos Aires, only a few minutes drive from downtown Carmen. The resort in Carmen is called Chocolate Hills Complex. The more recent one in Sagbayan is called Sagbayan Peak.

The original viewing station of the Chocolate Hills is a government-owned and operated resort called "Chocolate Hills Complex" located in Carmen, Bohol, about 55 kilometres (34 mi) from Tagbilaran City[21] and about 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) from the town proper of Carmen, Bohol.

The Chocolate Hills Complex has a restaurant, hostel with swimming pool and an observation deck where one could view and even count the hills at the view deck 210 feet (64 m) above the ground. There are a total of 214 steps leading to the observation or view deck. Here one can view the landscape that is covered with more than a thousand Chocolate Hills. The Chocolate Hills Complex is composed of two hills developed into a resort. An observation deck on the higher hill offers a 360-degree panorama of the surrounding area.

The other way to view the Chocolate Hills is at "Sagbayan Peak", a mountain resort in Sagbayan town, about 75 kilometres (47 mi) northwest of Tagbilaran City. Viewing is made from the deck of an elevated ridge that provides an unobstructed view of the Chocolate Hills as well as the sea off Cebu City. This is only 18 kilometres (11 mi) from the Chocolate Hills complex in neighboring Carmen town.

Sagbayan Peak is a 5-hectare (12-acre) mountaintop resort and recreation center. Its viewing deck offers a 360-degree perspective of the Chocolate Hills plus the blue sea that separates Bohol and Cebu. The peak now has a restaurant and a children’s park with Bugs Bunny, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and various other Toontown figures. Aside from the function hall and viewing deck, a hotel, swimming pool, driving range, a butterfly dome and a tarsier sanctuary are planned. A 100-hectare (250-acre) golf course is also planned.

Patria Aurora Roa, tourism director for Central Visayas, was happy to see the latest addition to Bohol's tourist attractions. This was echoed by Bohol Governor Erico Aumentado, who said: "The Sagbayan Peak is a welcome note for Bohol tourism."
Bohol is derived from the word Bo-ho or Bo-ol.The island was the seat of the first international treaty of peace and unity between the native king Datu Sikatuna, and Spanish conquistador, Miguel López de Legazpi, on March 16, 1565 through a blood compact alliance known today by many Filipinos as the Sandugo.
Loboc is a 5th class municipality in the province of Bohol, Philippines 24 km away from Tagbilaran City, the provincial capital of Bohol.

Loboc is known for its floating restaurants

along the scenic and winding Loay-Loboc River. Tourists also come to see the tarsier, a small nocturnal animal with large eyes. It is one of the world's smallest primates. Unfortunately, the tarsiers here are kept in an inadequate cage, and better be observed in the Tarsier Sanctuary in Corella.

Portions of the St. Peter Parish Church Complex (specifically parts of what is now the Convento or Priests' Residence) are thought to be the oldest standing ecclesiastical structures in Bohol Province. The Loboc Children's Choir has won numerous competitions both local and international, most notably festival competition in Barcelona, Spain, entitled "Europe and its Songs", on September 17–21, 2003.

Sagbayan

Sagbayan is a 5th class municipality in the province of Bohol, Philippines.
This small town have many natural attraction yet to be discovered but its main attraction is Sagbayan Peak, which is an observation platform and children's playground overlooking a scenic valley akin to Carmen's Chocolate Hills. Chocolate Hills on the other hand covers three small towns namely Carmen, Sagbayan, and Batuan. Sagbayan Peak is nestled on 5 hectars mountain-top. This resort and recreation center boasts of a massive but spectacular viewing deck. An attraction by itself. This viewing deck affords a 360 degree view of the world famous Chocolate Hills as well as the Island of Cebu across the sea that separates from Bohol.

At night, the view is even more spectacular.

Carmen

The Chocolate Hills Complex is the main destination for best viewing of the Chocolate Hills. It is located in Barangay Buenos Aires, Carmen, Bohol. The complex is composed of two chocolate hills developed years and years ago and transformed into a complex complete with cemented road going up, restaurant, conference room, swimming pool, activity area with water fountain, 200+ steps with covered deck rest stops along the way and metal railing to aide your climb way up to the 360 degress Observation Deck, Virgin Mary Grotto, beautiful and tall pine trees to shade the steps. The Chocolate Hills Complex also developed new building structures with different accommodations to cater to visitors that wish to stay overnight in the middle of the Chocolate Hills.

Tagbilaran City

Tagbilaran is the capital city of Bohol. It is the principal gateway to Bohol since it has both seaport and airport and is known to be the City of Friendship.

Tagbilaran’s airport serves the entire province of Bohol through Cebu Pacific, Philippine Airlines, Airphil Express, and Zest Airways across the country for around 1 hour and 15 minutes. Tagbilaran’s port takes Cebu-Bohol route through fastcraft ferry ride or ship and to some major cities in Mindanao. Tagbilaran’s land transportation consists of tricycles, multicabs, jeepneys, buses, taxis, and vans for hire which is popularly known as vhire. Tricycles usually ply just around the city while multicabs and jeepneys takes the longer routes. Vhires and taxis and the cheaper buses are usually used for out-of-town travel.

Tagbilaran is your start-off point to Bohol's attraction namely the world's famous Chocolate Hills, white sandy beaches, diving spots, heritage sites and historical landmarks. Home to several hotels, resorts, and restaurants and has recently become a venue for national conventions.
Bohol Island is located in the Central Visayas region which belongs to the Visayas island group [Region VII] of the Republic of the Philippines. With numerous surrounding islets the island is considered to be the tenth largest island of the Philippines which would be a strategic place for adventure.

Bohol in fact is one of the country's leading travel destinations due to its exceptional natural features and historical landmarks. Beautiful white sand on its tropical beaches meets the rolling terrain of haycock hills which is famously called The Chocolate Hills. Should you chose Bohol to be your itinerary then you’ll never miss the thrill for imagine how many beaches there would be in a 73 islets Island plus, how about a 1,776 conical and nearly symmetrical ocean of hills? And if you have in your class discussed and studied in your books about the smallest primate in the world don’t forget to ask your mom and dad for it’s your opportunity to go watch and touch them live. From natural features to historical landmarks you will find them around the place which can be dated back to 16th century buildings like churches and military posts and garrisons. Bohol is the seat of the first international treaty of peace and unity between the native king and the Spanish conquistador. That was the earliest significant contact of the island with Spain that is ever occurred 1565.

So, if you want to unwind or have some fun sitting in the sand our shores are open and welcome you. And if you are the geologist type, I’m sure you’ll find yourself out with the hills of Chocolate. What if you’re a zoologist type? I’m sure you’ll get to know more about tarsier at hand. Historian type! You will never miss one of the most important things in the country’s history for we will guide you to our historical landmarks.

Wow, welcome to Bohol Island.
The people of Bohol are said to be the descendants of the last group of inhabitants who settled in the Philippines called pintados or “tattooed ones.” Boholanos already had a culture of their own as evidenced by the artifacts dug at Mansasa, Tagbilaran, and in Dauis and Panglao.

Bohol is derived from the word Bo-ho or Bo-ol. The island was the seat of the first international treaty of peace and unity between the native king Datu Sikatuna, and Spanish conquistador, Miguel López de Legazpi, on March 16, 1565 through a blood compact alliance known today by many Filipinos as the Sandugo.
The earliest significant contact of the island with Spain occurred in 1565. In that year on March 25 (March 16 in the Julian Calendar), a Spanish explorer named Miguel López de Legazpi arrived in Bohol to look for spices and gold. After convincing the native chieftains that they were not Portuguese (who raided the islands of Mactan in 1521), he made a peace pact with Datu Sikatuna. This pact was signified with a blood compact between the two men. This event, called the Sandugo ("one blood"), is celebrated in Bohol every year during the Sandugo Festival. The Sandugo or blood compact is also depicted on Bohol's provincial flag and the Bohol provincial seal .
Two significant revolts occurred in Bohol during the Spanish Era. One was the Tamblot Uprising in 1621, which was led by Tamblot, a babaylan or native priest. The other was the famous Dagohoy Rebellion, considered the longest in Philippine history. This rebellion was led by Francisco Dagohoy, also known as Francisco Sendrijas, from 1744 to 1829.

Politically, Bohol was administered as a residencia of Cebu. It became a separate politico-military province on July 22, 1854 together with Siquijor. A census in 1879 found Bohol with a population of 253,103 distributed among 34 municipalities.
Because of the Spanish colonial period, several municipalities in Bohol have names of towns in Spain like Getafe. This municipality is sister city with the Spanish city of the same name. In Getafe, a street is named Isla de Bohol (Island of Bohol), a unique name for a street in Spain.
