John Travolta & Kelly Preston Are Having a Baby!

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Wed, 19 May 2010 08:56:00 +0000

Now here's some incredibly happy news from John Travolta's corner.

Kelly Preston is pregnant, the family announced Tuesday.

"It's impossible to keep a secret...especially one as wonderful as this," reads a message on both Travolta and Preston's websites.

"We want to be the first to share this great news with everyone that we are expecting a new addition to our family."

Travolta and Preston, who have been married since 1991, are also parents to 10-year-old daughter Ella Bleu.

Their son, Jett, died in January 2009 at the age of 16 after suffering a seizure.

The Jett Travolta Foundation was established last year to better the educational, medical and environmental situations for children from a variety of disadvantaged backgrounds.

The couple's surprising announcement comes a day before Star magazine is due to hit newsstands with a cover touting the couple's "Miracle Baby."

Lost Redux: Choice? What Choice? Isn't This Show About Destiny?

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Wed, 19 May 2010 08:52:00 +0000

source: eonline

John Locke has it right. It is hard to let go!

Episodes like tonight's Lost remind us just how much we're going to miss this crazy-awesome series when it ends this Sunday.

Click in only if you've seen tonight's episode, cause there is much to discuss, including the reveal of which co-star punched Michael Emerson in real life...

Henry Ian Cusick, aka Desmond. Apparently one of those punches in the crazy-good parking lot scene (I die!) accidentally made contact, and Michael Emerson got quite the shiner in real life a few weeks back. That black eye was pretty obvious in subsequent island scenes in this episode, which begs the question: Lack of sufficient spackle/concealer or an intentional nod to injuries bleeding between the two worlds, which could also be the case with Jack's recurrent bleeding neck? Hmm…

Jack Is the New Jacob! After raising his hand at Jacob's self-burning (weird!) campfire and volunteering to protect the island, Jack drank the cup, absorbed the knowledge and became "like" Jacob. So now Jack will go on forever as the island protector, right? And that's the end of that? Maybe…I have to say, full disclosure, I do not know the answer (I am keeping myself mostly spoiler free for the finale), but I have doubts about Jack "sticking" as the island guard for a few reasons (see if you agree):

   1. From the very beginning of Lost, we've been told that this series is all about destiny. Not choice.
   2. It seemed that the island chose the past protectors, not the other way around. (Cue Allison Janney's words last week to Jacob: "I see now that it was always you.")
   3. Jacob noted hesitation in Jack's voice when he volunteered, asking "Is that a question?"
   4. Jacob told Jack he would protect the island "as long as you can"—which isn't even a legally binding marriage vow as far as I know.
   5. This is really out there but must be said: Desmond sure has had that look of the protector/Jacob lately: glossy-eyed, blissed-out, calm and plain and brutally honest and knowing exactly what to do. What is up with that?

Ben Is the MIB's Puppet; Widmore Was Jacob's: As Ben and Charles Widmore's long-running rivalry comes to a tragic end tonight—Linus shot him! To try and hurt Penny! You bastard!—we are left wondering what the big Ben v. Widmore pissing match was about all these years. My theory? All along, Ben thought he was talking to Jacob, but it was the MIB wrongfully portraying Jacob. (Ben said tonight: "I was told I could summon the monster. That was before I realized it summoned me.") And Widmore, it seems, was actually talking to the real Jacob. (Tonight he told Ben, "Jacob brought me to the island.".) Both were led to believe they were special. And chosen by Jacob. But perhaps neither were.

Ben Is Reentering the Dark Side: Volunteering to kill whomever MIB wants, ratting out Widmore, shooting Widmore dead… A few days ago, I asked Michael Emerson if Ben would end the series redeemed, and he reiterated that Ben is "preredeemed" by the island, perhaps hinting to the MIB's ruse all these years. And of course, off the island, in the Sideways world, Benjamin is a big old softie, tearing up at Alex's need for a father figure after enjoying a good homecooked meal from Rousseau. (Darlton, I know you already shot and edited the finale, but any chance Ben could end up in the Sideways world, shacking up with Rousseau?)

Kate Was/Is a Candidate: We found out tonight that Jacob crossed her off the list because she's a mother now. Does this mean she's meant to raise Aaron? And does this mean the Kwon that remained on the list was Jin?

Carell, Fey go out on a bad ‘Date Night’

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Fri, 09 Apr 2010 08:26:00 +0000

Steve Carell and Tina Fey are two of the funniest people ever on television, yet their big-screen "Date Night" is a dreary, uninspired waste of their talents

Steve Carell and Tina Fey's night out is not so much a bad date as a sad date.

These are two of the funniest people ever on television, yet their big-screen "Date Night" is a dreary, uninspired waste of their talents — and those of the top-name cast inexplicably appearing in small throwaway roles.

The movie manages the barest glimmers of the droll humor of Carell's "The Office" and the snappy wit of Fey's "30 Rock," and those few moments underscore how barren "Date Night" is the rest of the time.

Carell and Fey have an easy, affectionate rapport as run-down parents looking to renew some romantic sparks with a night out in Manhattan to break their boring routine.

The actors try hard to make it work, but the lowbrow sensibilities of director Shawn Levy (the "Night at the Museum" movies, "Cheaper by the Dozen") leave them tottering through painful verbal exchanges, lame stunts and other dreadfully unfunny hijinks (their pole dance at a strip club is just embarrassing, and like so many of the movie's gags, it drags on a long time).

The sketchy premise in screenwriter Josh Klausner's script casts Carell and Fey as Phil and Claire Foster, tired, ordinary but reasonably content with their cozy New Jersey life with their two kids. Once a week, Phil and Claire have a "date night" — dinner and the same old table talk at the same old local restaurant.

After two of their friends (Mark Ruffalo and Kristen Wiig) announce they're splitting up, the Fosters decide they need a marital booster and head to the city. Swiping a no-show couple's dinner reservation at a trendy Manhattan restaurant, the Fosters are mistaken for blackmailers who stole a flash-drive with incriminating information about some very dangerous criminal types.

Going through the motions
Date night turns into a night on the run for Phil and Claire, who cross paths with a mobster (Ray Liotta), a security expert (Mark Wahlberg), a devoted cop (Taraji P. Henson), a drug dealer and his stripper girlfriend (James Franco and Mila Kunis) and two relentless thugs (Common and Jimmi Simpson).

The filmmakers give these extra hands nothing remotely interesting or amusing to do (ongoing gags about Wahlberg's shirtlessness are so repetitive they become exasperating).

Ruffalo's character says his marriage has become so humdrum that he and his soon-to-be-ex are nothing more than "excellent roommates." That kind of sums up the dynamic between Fey and Carell, a couple of troupers who do try to deliver their drowsy lines as if they were saying funny stuff.

Moving Day at Sandra and Jesse's House?

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Sun, 04 Apr 2010 18:37:00 +0000

Jesse James is in Arizona rehabbing. Sandra Bullock is in Hollywood recovering. That left the coast clear at the estranged couple's former headquarters for some removing.

A moving truck emblazoned with the logo L.A. Delivery Services was photographed Friday at the Seal Beach, Calif., home that James and Bullock had shared until mid-March, when news of his alleged adultery broke, sending the Oscar-winning actress to the (Hollywood) Hills.

Among the items removed, according to photo agency X17, were a couch, a loveseat and several boxes. No immediate word on the truck's destination.

Except for a quick visit to a friend earlier this week, Bullock, 45, has remained in hiding at her home in the Hollywood Hills. But she has hardly been alone. Staffers at her production company have been paying visits all week long, including being on hand to accept a pizza delivery.

James, 40, meanwhile, has checked into a treatment center to save his marriage. His lawyer, Joe Yanny, told the Associated Press earlier this week that "this whole thing has destroyed Jesse's entire universe [and] right now he is a broken man." Yanny added that James "is in love with Sandra" and "the single most important thing to Mr. James and the children is that marriage somehow survive."

James' mother, Carol, has been taking care of his children at the Seal Beach home in his absence. TMZ photographed Carol and James' daughter Sunny carrying boxes out of the home earlier Saturday.

In a brief statement shortly after word of his alleged infidelities broke, James didn't cop to any philandering, but did say, "It's because of my poor judgment that I deserve every bad thing that is coming my way."

Bullock has yet to comment on the mess—and her silence is deafening.

Just a month ago, things were so much better. Take a look back at Sandra and James' good times in our gallery!

Miley Cyrus, Tyler Perry, Titans Don't Really Clash

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Sun, 04 Apr 2010 18:27:00 +0000

Warner Bros. Pictures; Sam Emerson/Touchtone Pictures

On a box-office weekend of far-ranging missions (and ticket prices), the 3D Clash of the Titans scooped up the most money, an estimated $61.4 million, while Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married, Too? ruled as the top-grosser among 2D-only films, with a huge $30.2 million.

The Last Song, Miley Cyrus' first major venture without Hannah Montana, sounded about right: a fourth-place debut, a $16.2 million Friday-Sunday.

Stay tuned from the complete Top 10 standings.

? Clash of the Titans is the third straight 3D movie to top the weekend box office. In fact, in 14 weekends so far this year, a 3D movie has been on top 10 times. The trend is a matter of appeal?and math. 3D ticket prices are simply higher. As your wallet could have told you.

? Titans actually played in slightly more 2D theaters than 3D ones, but it grossed slighlty more at 3D venues than 2D ones, box-office tracker Exhibitor Relations said.

? Titans' debut was big, but not titanic. 300, from the same studio, and sporting the same kind of man-skirts, but without the help of 3D ticket prices, bowed with more than $70 million three years ago.

? Why Did I Get Married, Too? is Perry's second-biggest opener, and his biggest opener without the help of Madea.

? Since opening Wednesday, The Last Song has grossed $25.6 million. All told, that's nowhere near Dear John, to name another Nicholas Sparks-spawned romantic drama, but it's already bigger than Robert Pattinson's Remember Me, to name another star U-turn. Assessed Exhibitor Relations' Jeff Bock in an email: "I'd say that Miley Cyrus' debut?sans her Disney doppelgänger?is right on target as her formidable tween audience follows her into teenage-dom."

? In its second weekend, How to Train Your Dragon ($29.2 million; $92.3 million overall) held well, even as it lost 3D screens, and its No. 1 spot, to Clash of the Titans.

? Despite its tepid start, Hot Tub Time Machine ($8 million; $27.8 million overall) hung in there with a better-than-average second weekend.

? Matt Damon's $100 million or so Green Zone ($1.2 million) is out of the Top 10 after three weekends, and, whoops, only $33.1 million. (Worldwide, the film has grossed a still-not-good $61.2 million, per Box Office Mojo.)

? In its fifth weekend, Johnny Depp's Alice in Wonderland ($8.3 million) broke the $300 million mark.

Here's a complete rundown of the weekend's top-grossing films Friday-Sunday, per estimates compiled by Exhibitor Relations:

1. Clash of the Titans, $61.4 million
2. Why Did I Get Married, Too, $30.2 million
3. How to Train Your Dragon, $29.2 million
4. The Last Song, $16.2 million
5. Alice in Wonderland, $8.3 million
6. Hot Tub Time Machine, $8 million
7. The Bounty Hunter, $6.2 million
8. Diary of a Wimpy Kid, $5.5 million
9. She's Out of My League, $1.5 million
10. Shutter Island, $1.46 million

Russell Brand and Katy Perry seem truly inseparable after spending the past three days constantly at each others sides.

And it seems they are more than happy to show the world just how infatuated they are.

The singer accompanied her boyfriend to his one-man show at the Royal Albert Hall last night, before the couple returned to his north London bachelor pad.

Despite a horde of fans waiting outside the Royal Albert Hall in west London, Russell, skipped signing autographs to emerge from an underground car park.

The 34-year-old then took his new squeeze to the Tinseltown late-night Milkshake bar in Hampstead.

Katy, 25, dressed in a demure red leopard-print dress with opaque tights, lace-up ankle boots with a gold bag, while Russell wore shades, despite the late hour, with his stage outfit of skinny jeans, suede boots and leather jacket.
