Aishwarya is Hopping Mad, Demands Apology

Bachchan parivar is stated as the first family of the B-wood. And they are anxiously waiting for the arrival of the juniormost Bachchan, who would make Big B even more ‘grand’. Several times there have been rumors that their bahu Aish has conceived, so much so, that now the family had even stopped responding to the so-called news.

But recently, a Mumbai daily, Mumbai Mirror reported that the 37 year old Miss World is being pressurized by Big B to have a baby boy. Further, the news also stated that the actress is not able to have a child right now because she is suffering with contracting tuberculosis of stomach.

Now the entire Bachchan family is out in the media demanding a print apology from the newspaper for this violation of their privacy. Mr. Bachchan has written to the editor of the newspaper and has also posted the same on his blog: “it is an utter disrepute to journalism.” The family seems to be in no mood to let go off the culprits!

Filmfare Awards 2010 Winners

The 55th Filmfare Awards 2010 were recently organized at the Yash Raj Studios in Mumbai. The show was an out and out laugh riot with phenomenol comparing by Saif Ali Khan and SRK. The audiences rejoiced at the spectacular star studded night.

‘Firaaq’ bagged the critics’ award for best movie in the popular section while ‘3 Idiots’ rolled out all the rest. Amitabh Bachchan has set a milestone by winning the best actor trophy for his film ‘Paa’ at the age of 68 and was lauded with a standing ovation. For the same movie, Vidya Balan was excited to get the best actress trophy.

Khayyam and Shashi Kapoor graced the stage as they lifted the lifetime achievement titles.

Kavita Seth and Rekha Bhrdwaj shared the best singer female award for their songs, Iktara from Wake Up Sid and Genda Phool from Delhi 6, respectively. Ayan Mukerji and Zoya Akhtar have won the best debut awards.

All in all, the films that remained the talk of the hour were ‘3 Idiots’, ‘Dev D’, ‘Delhi 6’, ‘Wanted’, ‘Love Aaj Kal’, ‘Kaminey’ and ‘Paa’.

Bollywood Celebrates the Festival of Colors

Holi is one of the primary festivals of India. B-wood enjoyed a gala splash of colors this year with each star having special plans for the HOLIday.

Arshad Warsi was spotted at the music release of his upcoming release ‘Hum, Tum Aur Ghost.’ After the show, he expressed his desire to go home and enjoy the high of bhang with his family and friends.

Amrita Rao likes to play it safe. She says, “I only play with natural and herbal colors. I also enjoy the prayer that is done a day before the festival.” In order to plan her day in a special way, she wears special colors on this festival.

Dino Morea got nostalgic and recollected his wonderful childhood days. Bigg Boss winner Pravesh Rana used this opportunity to get away from Mumbai. He went to his hometown Meerut after a long time. Tarun Mansukhani likes it in a rather traditional manner – playing colors with the friends and family and then having a lazy lunch.

Priyanka Chopra missed out the festival as she was shooting in the US. Rapper Hard Kaur was in Mumbai, missing her family and said that she would go out for a simple dinner with her friends.

Saif talks about Race 2

Race, directed by Abbas Mustan, was surely a remarkable film in B-wood that all the movie buffs would always recollect. Its music, glamour and suspense elements were so impressive that now the makers of the film are planning a sequel of the same.

Race 2 would be the third production of Saif Ali Khan’s home production. After ‘Love Aajkal’ he is now working for his second home release ‘Agent Vinod.’ Needless to say, Padmashree Saif is really excited for this project. He says, “I am just waiting for the film to go on floor now.”

The film is expected to be a comic thriller with some great music, glitz and glamour. Another surprise for the viewers is that this new producer of the film has replaced Bipasha in favor of his girl friend Kareena Kapoor.

He is also sure that he would repeat the director duo Abbas-Mustan to take over ‘Race 2.’

Deepika Padukone is becoming the flavor of the season with hits releasing one after another. Though her latest flick Farhan Ahktar’s ‘Karthink Calling Karthik’ has not struck the right chord, she has managed to give a great performance once again.

Now she has appeared on the cover of the 50th issue of Maxim Magazine in a sizzling black dress. The issue also has a special interview of the sexy, young actress where she talks about her favorite movies and shares her childhood’s special moments.

She recollects, “I have always been surrounded by men, earlier when I used to play badminton and then in my modeling days.”

The issue also has some brilliantly shot pictures of the lady in black. This issue of Maxim is a visual treat for men everywhere.

Priyanka Chopra for Greenathon Campaign

After winning a national award for the film ‘Fashion,’ Priyanka Chopra is enjoying a real high in the media. She is now the brand ambassador of NDTV Toyota Greenathon II. Under this campaign, Red Dot Productions are making an animated video that stars Priyanka herself.

The video is called ‘Hawaaien Patte Pani’ and is written by veteran lyricist Gulzar. Music is composed by the magical trio of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy. It focuses on ways to wave water and soil, and reduce pollution.

In the video, Priyanka is trying to work out means to save a barren land. She notices a little sapling growing from a little creek. She hands it over to a little girl who passes it on to the carefree youngsters. Slowly and steadily everything becomes green and happy once again.

Commenting on her new venture, Priyanka said, “Shooting for an animation was great fun. I had to imagine everything standing in front of a chrome screen. We have tried to make the video fun and connect with people at the same time.”

This video would premier on NDTV India and NDTV Profit channels. The first time when this campaign was held it focused on using solar light. It was able to raise Rs. 20 million that were used to provide electricity to 55 villages across the country.

Pankaj Kapur makes Directorial Debut with son Shahid

Three times national award winner, veteran stage and commercial actor, Pankaj Kapoor is now all set to make his first ever directorial attempt. This film titled ‘Mausam’ stars Shahid Kapur, his son. It went on floors in the end of January this year and is expected to be completed by July. Along with home country India, the film is planned to be shot at several international locations like Australia, UK, Italy and Spain.

‘Mausam’ is a romantic film where the actor is pursuing his love interest. To cast opposite Shahid, Pankaj was determined to select an actress who was beautiful and could act well too. Some internal sources report that Pankaj wanted to introduce a new face in the flick, but Shahid refused to work with a newcomer. Apparently he was enthusiastic to approach Katrina Kaif.

However, Pankaj auditioned many budding new faces from with in the film fraternity like Narmada (Govinda’s daughter), Sonakshi (Shatrughan Sinha’s daughter) and actress Shazahn Padamsee. Finally he has zeroed down to Sonam Kapoor and the two have started shooting as well.

Pankaj proudly talks about his son and says, “I am sure Shahid would surprise the audiences with this flick.”

Coming to Pankaj Kapoor, the actor, he would next come on the silver screen in Bhavana Talwar’s ‘Awasthi.’ The two had earlier worked together in the film ‘Dharm.’

A Starry Starry Night at DNA After Hrs Style Awards

One award function after another, the starlets of Bollywood continue to sprinkle glitz and glamour on the red carpet. After Hrs Style Awards, followed back to back by DNA had all the style and elegance that you can imagine, with several big Bollywood stars gracing the occasion.

But all these stars borrow their style statement from the top shot fashion designers of the industry. On the red carpet as well, these designers spilled out some style secrets. For instance, Aki Narula said zebra prints and large bags teemed with vantage style coin purse is the talk of the town. Surily Goel added that green is the color of the season.

Sabyasachi Mukherjee admires handmade organic fabrics in natural hues like mushroom, beige, inidigo, khaki, etc.

The stage sizzled with spell binding performances by many actors but the most praised couple was of Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor. The show would be aired on Zee Café soon.

Vidya Balan has a New Address

Vidya Balan, who has been criticized for her clothing and style for a long time now, is suddenly now the flavor of the season with her stellar roles like Krishna in ‘Ishqiya’ and a confident single mother in ‘Paa.’ As her career seems to come up in full swing now, she has pampered herself by buying a plush new flat in Khar. Internal sources state that she was interested in getting one in Bandra too.

Her new address is Anand Apartments. She has now become a neighbor to Kareena Kapoor. It is interesting to mention here that most of the actresses connect their fortune to a new address. Earlier, Kareena Kapoor and Karisma Kapoor bought new flats in the initial peaks of their careers. Rani Mukherjee, too, moved in to her new home at the time of ‘Dil Bole Hadippa.’

Let’s hope Vidya holds on her new found success and her new home proves to be lucky for her!

Movie Review: Karthik Calling Karthik

Farhan Akhtar has made his third appearance on the silver screen with ‘Karthik Calling Karthik’ (KCK). The writer-director of the film is Vijay Lalwani and this is his debutante attempt. KCK has come out as a nice film but the story does not seem to be effective enough. The film was promoted as a modern contemporary thriller teemed with romance. But the film fails to focus on either of the two.

The story shows Farhan as Karthik, a middle-class under-confident young man who works in a construction company. He is in love with Shonali Mukherjee played by Deepika Padukone who is a bubbly, easygoing and happy go lucky architect in the same firm. Karthik is treated as a ‘nobody’ in the office by his boss as well colleagues but he never had the guts to fight it out. He has written exactly 1317 mails to his lady love but he could never forward them.

As the story unfolds, we see that he easily succumbs to pressures because of some incident that took place in his childhood. However, his life changes with one phone call that is made by Karthik himself, something like talking to your inner conscience. Soon, this caller becomes his friend, philosopher and guide who spoon feeds him everything. He calls up every morning at 5 a.m. everyday and suggests solutions and actions for the day ahead.

As is the norm of hindi cinema, Karthik’s life completely changes and he turns into the ‘conventional’ hero of Bollywood. Smart, Suave, suited and booted, a confident professional with a beautiful girlfriend. Things start to rupture down when he tells Shonali about these phone calls. After this, the caller guides him all wrong things and he ruins all that he had earned. The film is then about how he gains back all that he has lost.

The music scores set by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy are average, but they fail to impress as it seems the songs are used without any particular need. The film manages to touch your heart a bit, but the impact is not as much as expected. Farhan does justice to his role and so does Deepika. The supporting artists as well are good enough for their respective roles. The story too has a punch, but somehow it doesn’t fit well.

All in all, it is not a bad flick to watch but you can give it a miss.

Personally, I would give the movie 2 stars – One because of the hard work that went into creating the movie and the second because my girl friend finds Deepika Padukone very very hot.
