Well the movie actress thing didn't work out, nor was she interested in doing the dance thing full-time. Her folks put a stop to her partying and coke-snorting ways and made sure Zayed Khan stayed out of the picture, so what's a pretty star-kid to do? Why, get hitched to a reasonably wealthy fella and ride into the ~~arranged~~ love marriage sunset, of course! Oh but don't worry Esha and Zayed will always be each other's ~~dope dealers~~ lobsters. ;-)

Hema Malini and Dharmendra's eldest ~~failed~~ seed got engaged yesterday to Bharat Takhtani, a Bandra-based professional. Apparently the two have been ~~strategically been seen together~~ dating on and off for the past year and a half or so. Dating...rrrrrrright.....

Israeli officials targeted in Delhi bomb blast!

IANS:

A 42-year old Administrative attaché in the Israeli embassy suffered injuries when the car in which she was travelling caught fire due to an explosion in New Delhi on Monday. Three others also suffered splinters injuries in the explosion.

The incident took place at 3.15 pm in the high security zone [my ass!] near the Prime Minister residence at 7-Race Course Road.

The injured official was going to pick her children from school in the US embassy.
According to initial investigations, two motorcycle borne youths tailed the Israeli Embassy vehicle on Aurangzeb Road and allegedly placed "something" in the rear of the car when it stopped at a traffic signal.

An indication that the incident in Delhi could be a part of targeted attacks on Israeli staff came when a Foreign Ministry spokesman said in Jerusalem that there have been incidents in which embassy staff were targetted in Tbilisi and New Delhi.

Delhi Police spokesperson Rajan Bhagat said two Israeli embassy employees were injured in the incident. "We have rushed bomb disposal squad to the spot. We are investigating the cause of fire," he said.

Minutes later, there was an explosion and the Toyota innova bearing number 109-CD-35 went into flames.

Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has confirmed the incident.

Deepika answers Race 2 debacle!

With Ramesh Taurani telling anyone who will hear him about how Deepika Padukone ~~screwed him over~~ left him and his film high and dry, finally we hear Deepika's side of the story:

You have managed to upset the mild-mannered Taurani...

I have tremendous respect for Rameshji and that was never my intention. I feel very bad about opting out of the film, but I have no other option. It was a very hard decision, but I had to make it as the dates kept going back and forth and I have other commitments too that I have to live up to.

Are you aware that he has filed a complaint against you?

Yes. They have asked me for my comments and I will be sending the same shortly.

He alleges that you left the film after the shooting began?

The film has been delayed for one-and-a-half years. I adjusted my dates all this time. And I would still do it, but now those dates are committed to other films. It's a genuine problem. I wasted four months last year that I had kept aside for this film, but now my other films are starting and I can't adjust more.

How could you allot the same dates to different producers?

I haven't. My contract [ A ha! So there was a contract...] with TIPS was till 2011. I still wanted to do 'Race 2' despite the delay, but now my dates are clashing with other films. And much as I want to, there is nothing I can do about it.

Like the Rajinikanth film?

That film was signed long ago. They just chose to make the announcement now. [Bullsh*t!]

Taurani says you refused to even meet him...

I never refused to meet him. I was not in the country, [translation: I had a booty call to answer in LA] so I suggested he meet my managers. That day, I landed at 7am, and I had to shoot for the climax of "Cocktail" at 9am, and I told him that I would meet him after the shoot. But he came over on the sets and I explained my reasons for not being able to do the film.

Also, you agreed to do the film almost two years ago. A lot has changed since. From the styling that was planned, to the kind of films you would want to do at this stage, right?

You know, it is a fantastic role. And I think that any actress would be lucky to do it.

Hasn't a lot changed in the film in the interim? Sanjay Dutt [thanks to Ameesha Patel] and Bipasha Basu have joined the cast when there was no place for them in the original script...

Even I have read about this in the papers. I wasn't told officially.

Though people close to him have already started referring to the actress as bhabhi, the couple is yet to come out in the open. Snoop says the director had a stint with a TV actor too in the past. Interestingly, this director also has a so-called bro in the industry, who also follows in his footsteps. The duo’s affinity to struggling actresses is a known thing but maybe this time the director will turn over a new leaf.

Holy sh*t, WTF was this dress maker thinking? It looks like a Project Runway reject gown where the maker couldn't decide whether it should be draped or a sweetheart neckline, and then tried to cover up the mistakes with tacky metal accents. Not a fan of these Shantanu-Nikhil 1/2 gown, 1/2 sari combos!

Despite the apparel, Kajol "There's more to me than just my uni-brow" Devgn looked fab. Clean and simple make-up paired with the side-swiped hair was fine. Some teeth whiteners would go a long way though....

Jiah Khan went Desi for the night. The anarkali was beautiful.

...wish we could say the same about her makeup. Yikes, she almost looks cartoonish.

Vidya Balan is her signature Sabyasachi. Blah to blahth power.

Priyanka leaving Bollywood?

This comes as no surprise, if true, and I suppose it is to a certain extent. Priyanka Chopra's PR folks seem to be working overtime on their ~~paycheck~~ star. While Fat Lips is off in Berlin schmoozing with SRK fans for the Berlinale Film Festival release of Don 2, stories of Priyanka's ostracizing are only heating up back home.

Gauri's friends have rallied close to their ~~leader~~ pal, and have collectively done their fair share in kicking out Priyanka. Mehr Rampal publicly questions whether Priyanka should or shouldn't be invited to certain dos, Neelam Kothari keeps the SRK/Fat Lips "affair" gossip a hot topic amongst the Bollywood Birkin Brigade, Sussanne Roshan neglects to invite Priyanka to her own film's party, and now even KJo joined in and stated he wouldn't be casting Priyanka in any of his movies in the near future. I'd say "Operation: Trash Labia Face" was a success!

Now we hear stories from Priyanka's ~~PR firm~~ friends, as they state Bollywood has double standards. No sh*t, Sherlock! A certain "friend" of Priyanka's, a fellow actor, who chose to remain anonymous told an Indian daily:

"No one is willing to take on SRK because he is the Bollywood Badshah. So Bollywood's moral brigade is happy to take potshots at Priyanka. If two people are in a relationship, it is their business. It should have no bearing on their professional career. And if the industry is making it their business, then both the married man and his new friend should be meted out the same treatment.''

Hell yeah, we agree with ~~Shahid~~ her anonymous actor friend!

While I feel SRK's lil robot should've been kept in his pants, and Priyanka's lips should've suckled an apple instead; I don't think it's fair to blame the entire matter on her. She's a single, ready to mingle, call me for a tingle -- kind of gal. SRK on the other hand is the one who hails from a happy ~~open~~ marriage...or so we're told. Why the f*ck is he not getting bashed publicly? I guess no one wants to end up like Rapunzel, eh?

As if Priyanka's PR team isn't busy trying to churn out good stuff for their client, now she's got a whole new team in HAH-lee-wood! Priyanka is the first soon-to-be-Bollywood-transplant that's signed up with Creative Artists Agency, the same firm who handle the likes of Clooney, Pitt, Roberts, Witherspoon, etc. Regarding her new team, Fat Lips said in her best faked-out Angrezi accent:

"Yes, I have a completely new team working for me in Los Angeles. Let's see how things go."

And if all this ain't enough, now we hear Priyanka may be attending the Grammy Awards tomorrow night. ~~Kissing Lady Gaga's ass~~ Landing that huge Universal record deal seems to be opening up doors for our lil Ms. Soup Cooler, just as other doors may be closing. We wish her the best!

Taurani VS. Padukone!

Ramesh Taurani is still pissed off at Deepika Padukone for abrubtly walking off the filming of Race 2. The project itself, seemed to take forever, to get on the floors. Once filming finally started, things were looking up. 6 days into the film's first round of shooting one of the leads, Deepika Paudkone, walked off the project altogether.

Deepika and her PR folks claimed scheduling conflicts as the the reason, but we all know that's typical Bollywood bullsh*t. We've heard Deepika didn't mesh well with the film makers and was uncomfortable with some of the über-sexed looks they expected from her.

Ramesh Taurani, the film's producer, went on a media blitz calling Deepika things like "unethical" and "unprofessional." Now, news is out that the producer has filed a complaint with the Cine and TV Artists Association (CINTAA) for breach of contract. A source close to Taurani revealed:

"He did not want to take such an extreme step. He waited for Deepika to change her mind. But she was adamant. She was not interested in doing Race 2 anymore."

According to CINTAA regulations, if an artist declines to answer the summons/complaint filed against him/her, the case gets forwarded to the Federation of Western India Cine Employees, followed by a potential Non-Cooperation Directive, if the FWICE's descision is not adhered to. Sounds like a bunch of bureactic mumbo-jumbo which would probably takes ages to go through in India, so I doubt Deepika would be quaking in her boots.

Nevertheless, Deepika's people say she never entered into a contract with Taurani or the film makers, so the matter of a legal case doesn't arise. Says a source close to Deepika:

"The only paper Taurani had given Deepika mentioned that the film would be completed by September 2011. We are in February 2012. Is it anywhere near completion? No. Then why is Taurani creating such a fuss?"

Uhh...the fuss is over sh*t loads of money, schedules, and other aspects of film making that get effected because Ms. Lanky Skyscraper here decided she didn't like the outfits she had to wear! Moron!

Explaining Deepika's plans for the filed complaint, the source added:

"She will not return to Race 2. She will present her case to CINTAA soon. Both parties will be heard. She will return the signing amount soon. And as for the compensation, she is open to discussions."

I have to wonder if Taurani would take such measures had it been one of the Khans who walked off his project, leaving him in the lurch. I don't see him filing a complaint against SRK, or even Salman Khan. Take the ladies even, I doubt Taurani would do this to Kareena, Katrina, or ARB.

Without comparing this situation to others and wondering "What if?" I don't condone Deepika's actions in this matter, from what little information I've heard. If her reasoning for walking off a project was as shallow as her not getting along with people and/or suddenly having inhibitions about wearing a bikini, she should be sued! Honor your f*cking commitments!

I suspect the real reason(s) have to do with her remuneration and screen time!

The news of Yuvraj Singh's malignant lung tumor hit the wires fast, as it continues to be a hot topic on social networks. Recently, Yuvraj, who's undergoing Oncology treatment in the US, Tweeted a pic of himself sans his curly hair along with a caption reading, "Finally the hair has gone. But #livstrong #yuvstrong." In response to Amul's tender ad featuring Yuvi's condition, the cricketer also Tweeted, "...Amul's new ad is very cute I must say!" Indeed, it is an "aww" worthy ad....

Amitabh Bachchan underwent abdominal surgery in Mumbai, stemming from injuries he suffered back in '82 on the sets of Coolie. It's being reported that Bachchan was under the knife for 3 hours, and now the actor is resting comfortably in a stable condition. Tooty Fruity released an official statement about his Pa post-op, "He is fine now. It was a minor surgery. The pain was due to the accident which took place during the shooting of Coolie in 1982. The pain was always there. The operation was successful and he has been shifted to the normal ward. Doctors are keeping him under observation and if everything is fine, then he will be discharged tomorrow." The surgery took place at Mumbai's Seven Hills Hospital, where the family ~~is known on a first name basis since they've been pumping money into the place~~ had booked comfortable accommodations. We share Mrs. Bachchan's sentiments from the pic!

Imran "Have y'all noticed my new fluff muff?" Khan is bringing out all the stops to promote his next film with Is She or Isn't She: Kareena Kapoor. One of their latest stunts includes driving around in his new ride, a Ferrari. Interesting choice of ride for someone who claims to be so environmentally conscious. Speaking of his new ~~elevated pubic hair~~ facial hair, Imran is growing it for his next flick by Vishal Bhardwaj. The beard, the pierced ears, the cockiness...all prep work for the next film. Yay, I can't wait....oh wait, yes I can. I didn't know Bhardwaj was making Sinbad: The Fugly Sailor...?

Karan Johar is on the defense, Y'all. Rumors have been circulating (most probably by Priyanka's PR folks) that Priyanka Chopra has been cast in Karan Johar's next film, following their hit Agneepath. After poor KJo got his ass chewed out by his fuming BFF Gauri, he's finally putting the rumors to rest. Through his mouth peice, KJo said, "This year Karan has many films lined up none of them feature PC. There's Punit Malhotra's next with Shahid Kapoor, Ayaan Mukerji's film with Deepika Padukone and Ranbir Kapoor, Rensil D Silva's film with Emraan Hashmi, Tarun Mansukhani's Dostana 2 and the film that Ekta Kapoor and Karan are jointly producing which will feature Kareena Kapoor or Kat. Priyanka is not even in the running for any film." Ok, we can all sleep in peace now, thanks for the clarification.

Now that Jr. Money Bags is out of the picture, Deepika Padukone is relying on her old punching bag for support. THIS idiot who seems to be happy to be Deepika's perennial Plan B go-to guy, isn't complaining one bit. Meanwhile other rumors suggest she's been seen hanging out with John Abraham. Yeeck, talk about being stuck between a rock and a *hard* place.... ;-) In other DPad news, now that she's left Race 2 film makers high and dry after shooting began a week ago, they are scrambling to get another A-lister to fill her shoes. Just the other day, we read a whole mind-numbing "article" about how ARB is doing all the new Mommy work on her own, refusing to enlist the help of nannies. Commendable, if true, but as ~~luck~~ reality would have it, the story was nothing more than utter bullsh*t, as we suspected. Abhishek joined his two favorite gals down in Goa to privately celebrate his birthday. ~~Amitabh~~ A source close to the family revealed, "This is Abhishek's first break in months. He's been shooting non-stop and Ash hasn't really left the house since the delivery, except on two occasions (one was Parmeshwar Godrej's party for Oprah Winfrey and the other was for Riteish and Genelia's wedding last week). This is the first time Beti B has been taken out of the city. It was just the three of them, along with the baby's nanny." Doh!

Bollywood stars are on the move! First up, Priyanka Chopra is said to be looking for shiny new flat to purchase. Uh-oh guess the door men at all her 8 Mumbai properties finally figured out she's not the real Mrs. SRK. The actress is said to be house hunting for a home facing the sea in Juhu with a supposed budget of Rs. 25 crore. Looking to get away from his folks' home, Krishna Raj, on Pali Hill, Ranbir Kapoor has also been eyeing a few new apartments in and around Bandra. It's unclear whether the new place will be for Ranbir or his folks, when their current home begins renovations later this year. Katrina Kaif is still house hunting, after her last apartment ~~reminds her too much of Ranbir's late night visits~~ was deemed unlivable. The actress wants a sprawling home in Juhu, with a supposed budget of Rs. 15-20 crore.

Kareena Kapoor's pregnancy rumors only seem to be getting stronger. When she's is not wearing a sheer sari (Filmfare awards, R&G's wedding reception) she been spotted is loose fitting shirts and caught doing the infamous arm cross-overs over her mid-section, causing much speculation and confusion among her fans and non-fans alike. If she is in fact pregnant, hiding the pregnancy until her "public" wedding ceremony makes sense. We can't have her waddling around in Manish Malhotra maternity wear, now can we? Then again, if she is pregnant, why is she wearing sheer sarees which only bring attention to her belly? Maybe this is a bit of her passive-aggressive way of telling the world to f*ck off...? A furious and somewhat incoherent Ayesha "Big bouncy chesticles" Takia took to Twitter recently on behalf of her sister Natasha Takia, who she says was mistreated by an associate of Kingfisher Airlines. Here in her own rambling words is what Ayesha says happened:

"The worst airline,kingfisher!!!shockingly baddddddddddd airport staff behavior at delhi airport with my sister.

This disgustingly behaved kingfisher staff called Vinay podwal just tore my sisters boarding pass n misbehaved with her!!!!Can't believe thisssss!!!I'm in mumbai n I wish I was there rite now 2!soooo angry!!How can this happen!!!

how dare this vinay podwal misbehave with a passenger and tare her boarding pass,it cud b any one of u!!think about it.I will tweet and tell ul the whole story in a bit,2 angry n upset rite now!this just happend!!I wanted u alllllll 2 no!

This director, known for his penchant for making period films, has decided to make another ambitious film but with a contemporary subject. But to make his project historical, he signed a mega star. So far so good. Now news is that this project, although announced a few months ago, won’t see the light of day.

Reason: Although this director’s last two films were duds, corporate houses were still keen to work with him due to his track record (before the two duds) but the budget is playing havoc. The corporate houses are okay with him wanting to make a different movie this time but they want him and his film's star to take a pay cut and reduce the budget as well. But our director is living in the past and is adamant on the remuneration and his extravagant proposal.

Result: This project is unlikely to happen.

Obvi, right!? Love how lil mind-less bits of filmy news is being converted into "blind items"....

The film industry is abuzz [hardly!]with gupshup about this actor who, not so long back, couldn't stop finding faults with everyone around him. After a break-up with his long-term girlfriend and a few more relationships that went kaput thanks to his high-handed behaviour, he finally seems to have learnt his lesson.

Snoop says that this young actor seems to be on a patch up spree. He's at his best behaviour at all times and even takes time out to praise his co-stars and his ex-girlfriends.

The actor in question apparently couldn't see eye-to-eye with the star of his last released film but he seems to be on a patch-up mode with her as well. He's also working with one of his exes, and Snoop says that things are not as heated up as one would expect it to be on the sets. Not bad, considering that this hero cannot keep his opinions to himself. We wonder how the change in him came about though? Has he found himself a new guru or is it that he came to his senses after having fallen flat on his face.

Aw, maybe there's hope for him yet! But then again, when you find yourself unemployed, it's 'bout time to start kissing some ass, right!?

Sridevi went with Sabyasachi for the night. Not sure if it's the pic or a newly taut face a la her recent NY trip, but her face looks funky. WTF is that one the sleeves? Sequined lipstick kisses? Yuck...finally something looks tackier than her husband.

Hot damn, it IS a night of miracles! While Dragon Lady took the night off, Ekta Kapoor made a lovely appearance wearing something other than her satin, tear-soaked bed sheets! .....and then we saw them fug-a-dug shoes! Doh!

It's Sunday, so that means Rajeev Masand gossip time! Here's the juice for this week:

You’d think the classy ones would be above pettiness, but no. Turns out one of Bollywood’s most cultured male stars, an actor of impeccable pedigree, made it very clear to the editorial team of a Bollywood film publication that there was no way he’d show up for their awards ceremony if he wasn’t nominated for an award.

Problem is, the actor had only been in one film last year, and not only was the film a pretentious and boring flop, but his own performance in it hadn’t exactly won him any raves. Still, the team decided they needed as many stars to attend the show as they possibly could, and apparently decided that giving this gentleman a nomination was a reasonable price to pay for his attendance.

As agreed, he made it to the list of nominees. Weeks later, just hours before the big awards show in fact, when representatives from the publication called the star to ensure he was going to turn up and on time, he sprung another unpleasant surprise. He informed them he wasn’t going to attend, as his girlfriend hadn’t been nominated.

The lady in question, a major star herself, had been in more than one hit film last year, but nothing that merited an award or so much as a nomination even. The organisers of the show had taken her attendance for granted, as she regularly accompanies her boyfriend to public events.

In the end, the actor didn’t show up. Neither did his girlfriend, naturally. The organisers felt like idiots. Not only because he hadn’t kept his end of the deal, but because they’d decided to give him the award too. He was the only significant A-lister in that category, and it made sense to get him up on stage. But by the time he informed them he wasn’t coming, it was too late to pick another winner. They had to settle for a no-show when his name was announced. That, and the criticism for giving an award to an actor whose performance clearly didn’t deserve one.

Too bad our Bollywood award shows don't give out the "Most asinine couple of the year" award, they'd be a shoe in for that one!

Sometimes Mr. Masand makes it so blatantly obvious, it's like he's dying to tell us the name(s). But since he's averse to the use of proper nouns in his gossip items, it gives us something to discuss.

The couple being mentioned here is that ugly, seemingly unstoppable force that is Saifeena.

SAK, being one of 'Bollywood's most cultured male stars of impeccable pedigree' only acted in one film last year, Aarakshan, the 'pretentious and boring flop' in which his performance fizzled along with the BO ratings. Hmm...apparently no one gave a sh*t about what I thought, since SAK was the only thing I enjoyed worth watching during that snooze-fest, but I digress...

So SAK threatens a no show for this award show unless he's nominated. Insert 'I Dream of Jeannie' sound clip here, folks. BAM! The Colors Screen awards have SAK as a nominee for Best Supporting Actor, but that wasn't good enough and they were shocked to hear his next ~~command~~ suggestion. Heh heh heh, amateurs!

SAK wants his trophy wife-to-be, Kareena Kapoor to be nominated too! After all, it took every ounce of energy for her to pull out that amazing performance of a bratty rich girl in Bodyguard. She's got acting lineage, y'all! Just when we were blown away by that performance, she pulls out another unbelievable show-stopper playing a brainiac in Ra.One. Um..yeah, I'm so sure! She played a more convincing MD by day, model by night in KI. But hey, if SAK thinks she deserves an award nomination, then an award nomination she shall get! Only, she didn't. So SAK, said "Screw y'all, I'm staying home."

Even though SAK pulled a semi-Cartman, Colors Screen couldn't change the fact that they had already chosen SAK to win the award for his category. Why? He was the only A-lister nominated, and his presence on the stage meant ~~money and ratings~~ Cha-CHING for the organizers. Who cares if Kunal, Neil, Arunoday, and Rajesh Sharma feel like sh*t. But then again this being Bollywood....they never expected to win, did they? ;-)

Film maker Raj Kanwar dies at 53.

Bollywood director Raj Kanwar passed away early Friday morning in Singapore.

Kanwar was responsible for such films as Deewana, Laadla, Jeet, Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega, and Andaaz. He was in Singapore seeking a transplant for his kidney disease, but passed away before the procedure could take place.

According to Mumbai Mirror, here's what went down at the sangeet ceremony:

Wives' club drop out:
Malaika Arora Khan, who arrived dressed in her signature golden bikini top and a navy blue net saree, was snubbed by the star wives present at the do namely, Tanya Deol, Seema Khan, Gauri Khan and Maheep Kapoor. The only people who kept her company was sister Amrita, Aditi Govatrikar and husband Arbaaz. The evening did not get any better, when Malaika was literally saved by an inch from suffering a wardrobe malfunction.

Caught on the wrong foot:
Malaika excited about beginning her dance act lifted her arms and almost gave the audience an eyeful. Thanks to her friends in the audience, what could have been a repeat of Carol Gracias' most memorable walk on the ramp, was neatly averted. Farah Khan Ali, however, did not have such helpful friends. Farah's wardrobe met with its logical outcome when she went on stage to dance.

The unlikely host:
Karan Johar coordinated it. And Shah Rukh Khan lent his voice for the commentary. But the one who organized the entire affair was neither from the D'Souza or the Deshmukh clan. Vashu Bhagnani, whose daughter Honey is soon to be married to Riteish's brother Dheeraj was the man behind the entire event.

The missing act:
Riteish's friends Aftab Shivdasani and Ashish Chaudhari put up a rather entertaining act with life size cutouts of the bride and groom-to-be. However, members of Riteish's boy gang Zayed and Fardeed Khan, who were supposed to shake a leg as well for their friend failed to turn up for the party altogether.

The 'high' light:
Bobby Deol in high spirits was seen sipping soup out of a rather small bowl. But Sanjay Dutt came to the rescue and was heard telling Bobby to 'control'.

Hmm....wives being b*tchy towards each other, wardrobe malfunctions, missing guests, and a drunken one man show...yup, that's a typical Bollywood event, alright.
