The Kargil Girl To Release On Netflix

Jahnvi Kapoor's next film, Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, will go straight to a streaming platform just like Amitabh Bachchan's Gulabo Sitabo before it. The biopic of one of the first two Indian women pilots in a combat zone will release on Netflix, it was announced on Tuesday. No release date has been revealed as yet. Janhvi, 23, will play the eponymous Gunjan Saxena who flew a helicopter during the Kargil War. Producer Karan Johar said in a statement on behalf of Dharma Productions, "Gunjan Saxena is a defining film based on a true story about a woman who showed unparalleled courage, and inspiration to many in the coming years. We are excited to partner with Netflix and share this fearless story about following your heart and your dreams with millions around the world."

Shariq Patel, CEO, Zee Studios, said, "Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl is a film we're immensely proud of. It's a film that inspires each one of us to push our own boundaries, step out of our comfort zones, and dare. We are excited that this inspiring story has found a home at Netflix, and I'm sure, it will touch millions of hearts across the world."

A teaser of Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl was released on Tuesday, featuring photos of the real Gunjan Saxena with a voice-over by Janhvi Kapoor who appears in a couple of pictures as well. "Her inspirational journey made history. This is her story. Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl, coming soon on Netflix," wrote Karan Johar on Instagram. Janhvi and other cast memebrs including Angad Bedi and Pankaj Tripathi also shared the teaser, as did Alia Bhatt, Arjun Kapoor, Anushka Sharma and Varun Dhawan. Take a look :

In 1999, Flight Lieutenant Gunjan Saxena and Flight Lieutenant Srividya Rajan operated in the Kargil war zone, flying Cheetah helicopters. Towards the end of the war, NDTV's Vishnu Som and camera person Manvendar Gautam flew with Flt Lt Saxena from Uddhampur airbase; some few years ago, the director of the film, Sharan Sharma reached out to the NDTV team for details, which led to the development of the film.

Co-written by Sharan Sharma and Nikhil Mehrotra, the film also stars Vineet Kumar and Manav Vij.

Sara, who formerly weighed 96 kgs, underwent a massive transformation before entering Bollywood. At an event earlier this year, she opened up about her weight loss journey and said that she almost gave up.
“I remember saying ‘you know what I am going to do it’ and I went to the gym and did 3 crunches with a weighted ball in my hand and I couldn’t do more because I was heavy and I was not fit. I left the gym and came home and said that ‘you know what, I don’t know if I can do this. Maybe I can’t’,” she said, adding, “I woke up the next day and went back to the gym and did 4 crunches and then I did 5 and then I did 6 and I really don’t need to boast but I am down for a crunch challenge right now.”

Bollywood composer-singer Wajid Khan of the popular sibling composer duo- Sajid Wajid is no more. He passed away in the early hours on Monday.

The cause of death has not yet been confirmed, though unconfirmed reports have stated the artiste was suffering from COVID-19. A report in filmibeat.com, on the other hand, stated Wajid had been suffering from a kidney problem over the past few years, and had reportedly been on ventilator after being hospitalised recently.

Sajid-Wajid recently composed songs for Bollywood superstar Salman Khan during the ongoing lockdown, one of which was a number titled “Pyaar karona”, a pop anthem encouraging all to fight the coronavirus. The song released in April was sung by Salman and also featured the actor in the video.

The composer duo also recently composed Salman’s Eid special song, “Bhai bhai”, which talks of communal harmony.

May Allah give strength to the family.. Safe travels bro.. @wajidkhan7 you’ve gone too soon. It’s a huge loss to our fraternity. I’m shocked & broken,” wrote Salim.

Vishal Dadlani wrote on Twitter: “Wajid Khan is gone far too soon. His talent and heart were never appreciated enough. After Sacred Games, Anurag Kashyap is collaborating with Netflix again for a film titled Choked. The trailer of Choked, starring Saiyami Kher in the lead role, was released on Thursday.

According to the official synopsis, “Choked is the story of a hapless bank cashier whose life takes an unexpected turn when she finds a source of unlimited money in her own kitchen.”

Choked marks the first collaboration of Saiyami Kher, Roshan Mathew and Anurag Kashyap. This is the first time that Saiyami Kher and Roshan Mathew are working with Netflix.

Choked also stars Amruta Subhash, Upendra Limaye, Tushar Dalvi, Rajshri Deshpande, Vaishnavi Rp, Uday Nene, Parthveer Shukla, Sanjay Bhatia, Aditya Kumar and Milind Pathak. It will mark Anurag Kashyap's fourth collaboration with Netflix, following Lust Stories, Ghost Stories and Sacred Games.

Pankaj Tripathi is finally bingewatching 'Mirzapur'!

Amid lockdown, acclaimed actor Pankaj Tripathi is finally watching his own show "Mirzapur", where he essayed the role of the deadly gangster Kaleen bhaiyya.

“When you are shooting, you know the storyline and the subplots but you are focussed on your part. I had loved the universe of the show right from the first narration but watching it as an audience, I realised the beauty of binge-watching,” Pankaj said.

He added: "I would wonder why people don't want to savour and watch one episode at a time. But, 'Mirzapur' takes on such a ride and ends each episode at such a point that you feel compelled to go for the next episode."

Pankaj, who essays gangster Kaleen bhaiyya in the show, says he is now realising how well the team has done, while watching the show during the lockdown.

“I knew we had made a special show but now when I finally view it in its entirety, free from the pressure of work, and completely at leisure, I see how well we did. I hope the audience loves our second season even better,” he mentioned.
