Aamir khan Talaash Movie leaked

Aamir Khan has produced a new movie likely to release on June ‘Talaash’ movie’s first look poster has leaked on the net. Many speculate that the poster is in fact the first look of the Reema Kagti movie to release in 2012. Aamir Khan playing a role of cop. The production house is claiming that the leaked poster isn't the 'Talaash' one but someone put out a morphed version. A few others claim that 'Talaash' may not even are the final title of the movie, and just a working title. One wonders what the real ‘Talaash’ would be like. One is reminded of Shah Rukh Khan's “Chhammak Chhallo” song that also leaked on the Internet. The incident miffed the actor who fiercely condemned the act.

Meanwhile, Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao have named their newborn son Azad Rao Khan after scholar and freedom fighter Maulana Abul Kalam Azad who was also Aamir's great granduncle! Aamir says on Facebook: "Hey guys… we have finally chosen a name for our baby boy... Azad Rao Khan.” Aamir says that the final choice was left to Kiran and she is a great admirer of late Maulana Azad. Aamir-Kiran's son was born December 1st, 2011, through IVF to a surrogate mother at a private clinic in Mumbai. The couple resorted to IVF due to medical complications. This is Kiran's first baby, but Aamir has a son, Junaid, and a daughter, Ira, from his first wife Reena.

Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan have been working in Krish 2. Their personal rapport is likely to extend to a professional level as well. King Khan has been offered a role in the Roshans' home production Krrish 2.

Says a source, "Shah Rukh and Hrithik are the best of pals in the industry today. It was but natural for Roshan Sr to etch a role in his son's flick for his buddy as well. SRK's character in the film will have shades of gray to it."

Adds the source, "The Roshans have already sounded Khan off about having him in their project. And he has told them that he can be available only after the release of his production Ra.One."

The sequel to Rakesh Roshan's 2006 flick has been in the pipeline for a while. After the debacle of Kites and Guzaarish, papa Roshan has taken it upon himself to ensure that his son's career gets back on track.

And considering that Koi Mil Gaya and Krrish did well at the B-O, it is time Duggu wore his superhero cape to create magic again on screen.

Buzz is that Deepika Padukone has been finalised for Krissh 2.

Roshan Sr however maintains, "We have not yet finalised the cast for Krrish 2. We are still working on the script after which I will begin casting. Presently I am out of the country."

The last time SRK and Hrithik came together on screen was in Karan Johar's Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001).

Shahrukh khan very special Rating 4.5/5 If Ra One was disappointed the audience. Shahrukh Khan consequently launched with Don 2. Though the movie has dull and a weak story, but the enigmatic presence of SRK fills the void. Priyanka Chopra around, Don 2 promises strongly. It is slick and racy. Farhan Akhtar may have disappointed you as a director, but SRK steps in to make it an engrossing affair. The film doesn't have any surprises, twists or turns. It is ends up as a predictable one. But the richness and glossy feel makes it count. StorySince it is a sequel, the movie begins from the climax of the first set. Don (SRK) is spotted in Thailand. He surrenders to cop Roma (Priyanka Chopra) and is sent to a Malaysian prison. He breaks the jail and successes to escape in a daredevil way with Vardhan ( Boman Irani). They now plan to rob the Germans of their currency plates. There the Don makes smart moves. Ever since the first buzz of Mausam hit the news, it fast became one of the most-awaited films of 2011. Mausam brings with it two very promising firsts: A first-time director in the critically acclaimed actor Pankaj Kapur and a fresh new jodi in Kapur’s son Shahid Kapoor and star-daughter Sonam Kapoor. The intrigue and anticipation surrounding the film increased with the thought of the father and son duo jointly working on the same project for the first time. Over the past few months prior to release the movie has been caught up in a number of controversies. However, now that Mausam has finally hit the theaters, does it prove to be worth the wait?

Mausam’s story has been branded as and is a story about love that spans across a number of continents, years and, perhaps most importantly, through different seasons. Starting off in 1992, the film begins with Harry’s (Shahid) story. Harry is a young village boy residing in Mallukot and has a fascination with speed and trains. He is living his youth with his accompanying friends. When a neighbour’s (Supriya Pathak) niece, Aayat (Sonam) is forced to come and stay with her aunt from Kashmir as a matter of safety, Harry falls in love at first sight. The two share some sweet and heart-felt moments with one another before Aayat and her family are forced to move to Mumbai. Harry is left heartbroken but he is also seen to receive a letter about his entry into the army. What follows is a story whereby the two lovers meet at various intervals every few years in different places and under different circumstances.
It would be wrong to say that Mausam is your average, run-of-the-mill Bollywood love story. It is very much a movie which stands for everything Bollywood signifies about, minus the taaza masala. The first half of the movie is centred on the life of Harry and Aayat and their Mallukot activities, including the wedding of Harry’s sister and also the visit of Aayat’s refugee father. It can be said that this part of the film is probably the most watchable and this is because of the portrayal of innocence, mischief and sweet obsession that the two protagonists’ share with one another.
You’re reminded of a love story which could very easily have fit perfectly in the years it was set in and proved to be a huge success at the box office. However, hold your horses. The second half of the movie is a huge disappointment and doesn’t follow on as promisingly as the first half yearns for it to. Fate brings the two characters together a number of times but as each meeting happens, the plot becomes less and less realistic. Fate is thought to instigate these meetings but even fate wouldn’t work its wonder that many times.

Performance-wise, Shahid Kapoor is perhaps the films sole saviour. Arguably, the actor holds the whole movie on his own shoulders. Kapoor plays the role of a Harry with such perfection that you’re left feeling somewhat sad that the movie doesn’t quite live up to his immensely praiseworthy rendition. Sonam Kapoor as Aayat is believable but doesn’t quite seem to strike an uncritical chord. It’s difficult to pinpoint the reason for this but could possibly be because this is the first time she has tackled this kind of character in this sort of movie.

Pankaj Kapur, in his directorial debut, has given the kinds of settings and locations in Mausam which have huge significance in the “seasonal” look the movie needed. As Kapur has also written the movie, his understanding and vision seem to go a long way and this can be seen in the overall feel of the movie and the intricacies he has sought to show in each of his characters, both individually and in the relationships they have with each other. Overall, Kapur has achieved a very accomplished effort in his first movie and it is yet to be seen whether we will see this talent of his at the forefront again.
With Mausam, you are made to travel from Mallukot to Scotland and from Switzerland to Ahmedabad and you take with you Harry’s and Aayat’s pyaar. The biggest and most important aspect of Mausam is that the love story within should have been seen to resonate and it would have if it hadn’t been complicated with the various periods the two have to spend apart. It is this and the number of times that the two come together which gets tedious about makes what should have been a simple story unnecessarily long-winded.
If, like most Bollywood fans, you love a good love story then Mausam (minus the seasons) will make you want to fall in love again. However, if what you’re after is a story which you could list for years to come as one of the most touching love stories given by Indian cinema, I’m sorry to say that Mausam doesn’t quite hit the spot. Although a strong and impactful love story, the movie sadly seems to get lost in its own fate.

Mere Brother Ki Dulhan is out and I will say that it is rather unfortunate for the film to be out when there is another film Bodyguard that is still going strong at the box office. There is no comparison between Imran Khan and Salman Khan and the film would have done rather well if it’s launch was delayed a little bit.

Imran Khan and Katrina Kaif make a great jodi and the duo should have swept the audiences of their feet in otherwise case. But with Salman Khan’s film Bodyguard still a favorite and rather fresh- just a week has passed since its launch- the competition is going to be one sided.

Bodyguard has collected more than 110 crores at the box office and industry insiders say that it is going to shatter all the previous box office records in the days to come.

Mere Brother Ki Dulhan is about a very confused guy Imran Khan who is awestruck by the girl who is going to be his brother’s bride or bhabi. Though the brother too hasn’t actually met the girl for any considerable time and just chatted on net for a few minute, Imran knew the girl for quite some time.

Imran and Katrina besides Ali Zafar are impressive in the film. Nevertheless, I am not sure if the film will be able to impress the audience when a film like Bodyguard is going strong at the box office.

Bachchan turned producer during his temporary retirement period, setting up Amitabh Bachchan Corporation, Ltd. (A.B.C.L.) in 1996, with the vision of becoming a 10 billion rupees (approx 250 million $US) premier entertainment company by the year 2000. ABCL's strategy was to introduce products and services covering the entire section of the India's entertainment industry. Its operations were mainstream commercial film production and distribution, audio cassettes and video discs, production and marketing of television software, celebrity and event management. Soon after the company was launched in 1996, the first film was produced by the company. Tere Mere Sapne failed to do well at the box office but launched the careers of actors such as Arshad Warsi and South films star Simran. ABCL produced a few other films, none of which did well.

In 1997, Bachchan attempted to make his acting comeback with the film Mrityudaata, produced by ABCL. Though Mrityudaata attempted to reprise Bachchan's earlier success as an action hero, the film was a failure both financially and critically. ABCL was the main sponsor of the 1996 Miss World beauty pageant, Bangalore but lost millions. The fiasco and the consequent legal battles surrounding ABCL and various entities after the event, coupled with the fact that ABCL was reported to have overpaid most of its top level managers, eventually led to its financial and operational collapse in 1997. The company went into administration and was later declared a failed company by Indian Industries board. The Bombay high court, in April 1999, restrained Bachchan from selling off his Bombay bungalow 'Prateeksha' and two flats till the pending loan recovery cases of Canara Bank were disposed of. Bachchan had, however, pleaded that he had mortgaged his bungalow to Sahara India Finance for raising funds for his company.[28]

Bachchan attempted to revive his acting career and had average success with Bade Miyan Chote Miyan (1998),[27] and received positive reviews for Sooryavansham (1999)[29] but other films such as Lal Baadshah (1999) and Hindustan Ki Kasam (1999) were box office failures.
Television career

In the year 2000, Bachchan stepped up to host India's adaptation of the British television game show, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? entitled, Kaun Banega Crorepati. As it did in most other countries where it was adopted, the program found immediate success. Canara Bank withdrew its law suit against Bachchan in November 2000. Bachchan hosted KBC till November 2005, and its success set the stage for his return to film popularity. In 2009 Oscar winning movie Slumdog Millionaire in the first question of Who Wants to be a Millionaire? contest "Amitabh Bachchan" was the correct answer to the question "Who was the star of Zanjeer? Feroz Abbas Khan performed as Amitabh Bachchan in a scene in the movie while Anil Kapoor performed as the host of the contest. Bachchan hosted the third season of the reality show Bigg Boss in 2009.[30]
Return to prominence: 2000–present

In 2000, Amitabh Bachchan appeared in Yash Chopra's box-office hit, Mohabbatein, directed by Aditya Chopra. He played a stern, older figure that rivalled the character of Shahrukh Khan. His role won him his third Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award. Other hits followed, with Bachchan appearing as an older family patriarch in Ek Rishtaa: The Bond of Love (2001), Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001) and Baghban (2003). As an actor, he continued to perform in a range of characters, receiving critical praise for his performances in Aks (2001), Aankhen (2002), Khakee (2004) and Dev (2004). One project that did particularly well for Bachchan was Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Black (2005). The film starred Bachchan as an aging teacher of a deaf-blind girl and followed their relationship. His performance was unanimously praised by critics and audiences and won him his second National Film Award for Best Actor and fourth Filmfare Best Actor Award. Taking advantage of this resurgence, Amitabh began endorsing a variety of products and services, appearing in many television and billboard advertisements. In 2005 and 2006, he starred with his son Abhishek in the hit films Bunty Aur Babli (2005), the Godfather tribute Sarkar (2005), and Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna (2006). All of them were successful at the box office.[31][32] His later releases in 2006 and early 2007 were Baabul (2006),[33] Eklavya and Nishabd (2007), which failed to do well at the box office but his performances in each of them were praised by critics.[34]

In May 2007, two of his films Cheeni Kum and the multi-starrer Shootout at Lokhandwala were released. Shootout at Lokhandwala did very well at the box office and was declared a hit in India, while Cheeni Kum picked up after a slow start and was declared an overall average hit.[35] A remake of his biggest hit, Sholay (1975), entitled Ram Gopal Varma Ki Aag, released in August of that same year and proved to be a major commercial failure in addition to its poor critical reception.[35] The year also marked Bachchan's first appearance in an English-language film, Rituparno Ghosh's The Last Lear. The film premiered at the 2007 Toronto International Film Festival on 9 September 2007. He received positive reviews from critics who hailed his performance as his best ever since Black.[36] Bachchan was slated to play a supporting role in his first international film, Shantaram, directed by Mira Nair and starring Hollywood actor Johnny Depp in the lead. The film was due to begin filming in February 2008 but due to the writer's strike, was pushed to September 2008.[37] The film is currently "shelved" indefinitely.[38] Vivek Sharma's Bhoothnath, in which he plays the title role as a ghost, was released on 9 May 2008. Sarkar Raj, the sequel of the 2005 film Sarkar, released in June 2008 and received a positive response at the box-office. His latest movie was Paa, which released at the end of 2009. Paa was a highly anticipated project as it saw him playing his own son Abhishek's Progeria-affected 13-year-old son, and it opened to favourable reviews, particularly towards Bachchan's performance. It won him his third National Film Award for Best Actor and fifth Filmfare Best Actor Award. In 2010, he debuted in Malayalam film through Kandahar, directed by Major Ravi and co-starring Mohanlal.[39] The film was based on the hijacking incident of the Indian Airlines Flight 814.[40] Bachchan did not receive any remuneration for this film.[41]

Health

2005 hospitalisation

n November 2005, Amitabh Bachchan was admitted to Lilavati Hospital's ICU once more, to undergo surgery for diverticulitis of the small intestine.[42] This occurred after Bachchan complained of pains in his abdomen some days prior. During the period and that following his recovery, most of his projects were put on hold, including the television show he was in the process of hosting, Kaun Banega Crorepati. Amitabh returned to work in March 2006.[43]
Voice

Bachchan is known for his deep, baritone voice. He has been a narrator, a playback singer and presenter for numerous programmes. Renowned film director Satyajit Ray was so impressed with Bachchan's voice, that he decided to use his voice as commentary in Shatranj Ke Khiladi since he could not find a suitable role for him.[44] In 2005, Bachchan has lent his voice to the Oscar-winning French documentary March of the Penguins, directed by Luc Jacquet.[45]
Controversies and criticism
Barabanki land case

In the runup to the Uttar Pradesh state assembly elections, 2007, Bachchan made a film extolling the virtues of the Mulayam Singh government. His Samajwadi Party was routed, and Mayawati came to power.

On 2 June 2007 a Faizabad court ruled that he had legally acquired agricultural land designated specifically for landless Dalit farmers.[46] It was speculated that he might be investigated on related charges of forgery, as he has allegedly claimed he was a farmer.[47] On 19 July 2007, after the scandal broke out, Bachchan surrendered the land acquired in Barabanki in Uttar Pradesh and Pune. He wrote to the chief minister of Maharashtra, Vilasrao Deshmukh, to donate the lands that were allegedly acquired illegally in Pune.[48] However, the Lucknow Court has put a stay on the land donation and said that the status quo on the land be maintained.

On 12 October 2007, Bachchan abandoned his claim in respect of the land at Daulatpur village in Barabanki district.[49] On 11 December 2007, the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court gave a clean chit to Bachchan in a case pertaining to alleged fraudulent allotment of government land to him in Barabanki district. A single Lucknow bench of Justice said there was no finding that the actor "himself committed any fraud or manipulated any surreptitious entry in the revenue records".[50][51]

After receiving a positive verdict in Barabanki case, Amitabh Bachchan intimated to Maharashtra government that he did not wish to surrender his land in Maval tehsil of Pune district.[52]

Raj Thackeray's criticism

In January 2008 at political rallies, Raj Thackeray, the chief of Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, targeted Amitabh Bachchan, asserting that the actor was "more inclined" towards his native state than Maharashtra. He expressed his disapproval of Amitabh's inaugurating a girls' school named after his daughter-in-law, actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, at Barabanki in Uttar Pradesh, rather than in Maharashtra.[53] According to media reports, Raj's censure of Amitabh, whom he admires, stemmed out of his disappointment of not being invited to Amitabh's son Abhishek's marriage to Aishwarya, despite invitations to his estranged uncle Bal and cousin Uddhav.[54][55]

Responding to Raj's accusations, the actor's wife, SP MP Jaya Bachchan, said that the Bachchans were willing to start a school in Mumbai, provided the MNS leader donated the land to build it. She told the media, "I heard that Raj Thackeray owns huge properties in Maharashtra, in Mumbai—Kohinoor Mills. If he is willing to donate land, we can start a school in the name of Aishwarya here."[56] Raj responded to it saying, "Jaya bachchan claims she does not know me then how come she knows how much property I own?". Amitabh abstained from commenting on the issue. However, he apologized to Raj for controversial remarks from Jaya in some other incidence. "[57]

Bal Thackeray refuted the allegations, stating, "Amitabh Bachchan is an open-minded person, he has great love for Maharashtra, and this is evident on many occasions. The actor has often said that Maharashtra and specially Mumbai has given him great fame and affection. He has also said that what he is today is because of the love people have given him. The people of Mumbai have always acknowledged him as an artiste. It was utter foolishness to make these parochial allegations against him. Amitabh is a global superstar. People all over the world respect him. This cannot be forgotten by anyone. Amitabh should ignore these silly accusations and concentrate on his acting."[58]

On 23 March 2008, more than a month and half after Raj's remarks, Amitabh finally spoke out in an interview to a local tabloid saying, "Random charges are random; they do not deserve the kind of attention you wish me to give."[59] Later, on 28 March at a press conference for the International Indian Film Academy, when asked what his take was on the anti-migrant issue, Amitabh said that it is one's fundamental right to live anywhere in the country and the constitution entitles so.[60] He also stated that he was not affected by Raj's comments.[61]

Apart from National Film Awards, Filmfare Awards and other competitive awards which Bachchan won for his performances throughout the years, he has been awarded several honours for his achievements in the Indian film industry. In 1991, he became the first artist to receive the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award, which was established in the name of Raj Kapoor. Bachchan was crowned as Superstar of the Millennium in 2000 at the Filmfare Awards. The Government of India awarded him with the Padma Shri in 1984 and the Padma Bhushan in 2001. France's highest civilian honour, the Knight of the Legion of Honour, was conferred upon him by the French Government in 2007, for his "exceptional career in the world of cinema and beyond".

In 1999, Bachchan was voted the Greatest Star of stage or screen of the Millennium by BBC online poll where he defeated many Hollywood legends.[63] In 2001, he was honoured with the Actor of the Century award at the Alexandria International Film Festival in Egypt in recognition of his contribution to the world of cinema.Many other honours for his achievements were conferred upon him at several International Film Festivals, including the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2010 Asian Film Awards.[65]

In June 2000, he became the first living Asian to have been immortalised in wax at London's prestigious Madame Tussauds Wax Museum. Another statue was installed at New York [67] and Hong Kong in 2009.
In 2003, he was conferred with the Honorary Citizenship of the French town of Deauville.[69] He was honoured with an Honorary Doctorate by the Jhansi University in 2004,[70] the Delhi University in 2006,[71] the De Montfort University in Leicester, UK in 2006,[72] the University Brandan Foster by the Leeds Metropolitan University in Yorkshire in 2007.[73] Another an Honorary Doctorate was conferred by the Queensland University of Technology in Australia in 2009. But he turns down the honour as mark of protest to racial attacks on Indian students.[74]

Bachchan is married to actress Jaya Bhaduri. They have two children, Shweta Nanda and Abhishek Bachchan. Abhishek is also an actor and is married to actress Aishwarya Rai.

He was born in 1942 in Allahabad, as Amitabh Harivansh Srivastav to Dr.Harivansh Rai Bachchan and Teji Bachchan. His father was a well known poet. Bachchan was his pen name. Bachchan’s unconventional looks – dark, lean, and standing tall at 6’2” - worked against him when it came to acting roles. But his deep voice, a trademark, held him in good stead with offers to work on narration and background commentary.

1969 to 1979

In 1969, Bachchan made his debut with Saat Hindustani, which won him the National Film Award for Best Newcomer. After this came movies like Reshma Aur Shera, Parwana, and Anand in 1971. He made a huge impact with his performance in Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s Anand alongside Rajesh Khanna as a despondent doctor, winning the Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award. In 1972, he appeared in movies like Sanjog, Bansi Birju, Ek Nazar, and also narrated Bawarchi.

His identity as the ‘angry young man’ took off in 1973 when he starred in movies like Zanjeer, Abhimaan, and Namak Haraam. Vijay went on to become a regular onscreen name. In Zanjeer, he played an honest cop implicated by false charges and thirsting for revenge. In Abhimaan, he was a struggling singer while his wife, played by Jaya Bhaduri, makes it big firing up his insecurities. He came together with Rajesh Khanna again in Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s Namak Haraam, which won him the Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award.

In 1974 he made brief appearances in Kunwara Baap and Dost. Roti Kapda Aur Makhaan raked in a lot of moolah. He played the lead in Majboor, a dying man who gets a new lease of life and a prison sentence to get out of. In 1975, his movies like the comedy Chupke Chupke with Dharmendra, Sharmila Tagore and Jaya Bacchan, and the romantic drama Mili with Jaya and Ashok Kumar did well. However it was Deewar and Sholay that made a lasting impact on Bollywood. His performance in Deewar was intense while Ramesh Sippy’s Sholay was not only a big earner but is one of BBC’s Top 25 Must See Bollywood Movies.

In the 1976 film Kabhie Kabhie, he plays the role of a lovelorn poet Amit. Amar Akbar Anthony, released in 1977, showed Bachchan as the endearing Anthony Gonsalves, winning him his first Filmfare Best Actor Award. A string of hits marked 1978 with the release of Kasme Vaade, Trishul, Don, and Muqaddar Ka Sikander. It was Don that won him the Filmfare Best Actor Award out of the three movies for which he was nominated. In 1979, he starred in Mr.Natwarlal and also tried his hand for the first time in playback singing in this movie with the song Mere Paas Aao.

1980 to 1990

The early eighties saw the release of Dostana, Shaan, Laawaris (popular for the song Mere Angene Mein, Tumhara Kya Kaam Hai that AB sang), Silsila with Jaya Bhaduri and his rumoured lover Rekha. He played a double role in Satte Pe Satta and Namak Halaal. These movies enjoyed large scale popularity as did Bachchan. This was evident when he met with a fatal injury during the making of his 1982 movie, Coolie. Practically the entire nation prayed for his recovery which came after a year when he completed the movie and it was released with a change in script so that his character Iqbal, who was supposed to die, survives. In 1984, his role as Vicky Kapoor, an alcoholic in Sharaabi was also well-received.

Bollywood started taking a backseat post 1984 due to his illness. This made him look towards politics. It was well known that Bachchan enjoyed a close association with the Gandhi family having grown up with Rajiv Gandhi. He won the Allahabad’s Lok Sabha seat with a high margin of 68%. His stint in politics was marred when he was accused in the Bofors scandal and was later proved innocent. He later deflected to friend Amar Singh’s Samajwadi Party.
He ventured back into Bollywood with Shahenshah in 1988 and Toofan in 1989. Agneepath, released in 1990, won him a National Film Award for Best Actor.

1991 to 1999

Hum in 1991 did well. His much hyped last movie before retirement was Khuda Gawah with Sridevi, in 1992. Bachchan went on to start Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Ltd that was to produce and distribute movies and music. Tere Mere Sapne, which was its first production, was an average performer while its later productions all failed dismally like Mrityudaatha which starred Bachchan. The company collapsed and Bachchan reverted back to acting but without much success in movies like Major Saab, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, and Sooryavansham. ABCL also released his album Aby Baby that was popular for the number ‘Eer Bir Phatte’.

2000-2008

The year 2000 salvaged his situation and he went on to reclaim his superstar status. In Mohabattein, he starred with King Khan, as the dogmatic Narayan Shankar and won the Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award.

He also hosted Kaun Banega Crorepathi, the Indian version of Who Wants to be a Millionaire?, that is known to be one of the most popular television shows in Indian television history. This was at a time when most movie stars saw television as a step back in their career but Bachchan changed that perception.

In 2001, he won the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Performance for Aks and was nominated for Filmfare Best Supporting Actor for his role as Yashchand Raichand in Karan Johar’s Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. Kaante (2002) was the remake of Reservoir Dogs. This was followed by Boom, Baghban, Khakee, Aetbaar, Rudraksh, and Lakshya.

And if anyone thought he was riding on his early success, he removed all doubts of that with his widely acclaimed portrayal of Debraj Sahai in Black (2005) that received international recognition and plenty of awards. The role won him the National Award for Best Actor, Filmfare Best Actor Award, and the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Performance. The same year in the comedy Bunty Aur Babli, he starred with his son Abhishek for the first time and followed it up with Sarkar as Subash Nagre, a ‘godfather’ of sorts.

In 2006, he played Sexy Sam, in another Karan Johar’s mega-starrer, Kabhie Alvida Na Kehna. Ram Gopal Verma’s Nishabdh that was out in 2007 saw him enamoured with his daughter’s friend Jia. Cheeni Kum had him romancing a much younger woman played by Tabu. The Last Lear in which he brought to life the veteran theater actor Harish Mishra was appreciated.

His fans saw him in different avatars in 2008, with Bhoothnath where he was a ghost; the sequel Sarkar Raj, that starred his son Abhishek and bahu Aishwarya Rai; God Tussi Great Ho where he was God himself.

2009
He had a fleeting appearance in Delhi 6 in the first part of 2009. He played Genius the Genie in Aladin. The movie was an average success. He proved why he was a superstar yet again with his performance in Paa. He was seen as Auro, a thirteen year old child afflicted by Progeria which causes him to age rapidly. His son, Abhishek, played his father in this movie.

He completed his education from Uttar Pradesh and moved to Bombay to find work as a film star, in vain though, as film-makers preferred someone with a fairer skin, and he was not quite fair enough. In 1996, he released an album called "Aby Baby". This album was released under ABCL and featured songs like "Eer Bir Phatte" and remixes of his songs from his early movies "O Saathi Re" and "Kabhi Kabhi". "Eer Bir Phatte" was inspired by one of his famous dialogues in his movie _Adalat (1976/I)_.

In 1984, he was honored by the Indian government with the Padma Shri Award for his outstanding contribution to the Hindi film industry.

He is the only actor who achieved at least one hit every year for 15 consecutive years - from 1972 in Bombay to Goa (1972) to 1986 in Aakhree Raasta (1986).

He has played double and triple roles in a number of films. Although Amitabh Bachchan's Immaan Dharam (1977) proved to be a disaster, the producer went ahead and announced Asmaan with Dharmendra, Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha, with Mohan Kumar in the director's seat. Salim-Javed, who had penned the script of Immaan Dharam, were scripting Asmaan as well. However, the film was shelved subsequently.

Rakesh Kumar, who had directed Khoon Pasina (1977), Mr. Natwarlal (1979), Do Aur Do Paanch (1980) and Yaarana (1981), had turned producer and announced Charlie, with Amitabh Bachchan enacting the title role. Padmini Kolhapure had been cast opposite the Big B. However, the project never got made.

Amitabh Bachchan and Dilip Kumar were seen on screen for the first time in Ramesh Sippy's Shakti (1982). But much before Shakti happened, Eagle Films had signed Dilip Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan and Amjad Khan for their new project, which was to be directed by Yash Chopra. Early work: 1969–1972

Bachchan made his film debut in 1969 as a voice narrator in Mrinal Sen's National Award winning film Bhuvan Shome. Thereafter he got his first acting role as one of the seven protagonists in Saat Hindustani, a film directed by Khwaja Ahmad Abbas and featuring Utpal Dutt, Madhu and Jalal Agha. Though the film was not a financial success, Bachchan won his first National Film Award for Best Newcomer.[8]

Anand (1971) followed, where he starred alongside Rajesh Khanna. Bachchan's role as a doctor with a cynical view of life garned him his first Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award. Amitabh then played his first negative role as an infatuated lover-turned-murderer in Parwaana (1971). This was followed by several films including Reshma Aur Shera (1971). During this time, he made a guest appearance in the film Guddi which starred his future wife Jaya Bhaduri. He narrated part of the film Bawarchi. In 1972, he made an appearance in the road action comedy Bombay to Goa, directed by S. Ramanathan.

Rise to stardom: 1973–1983

Director Prakash Mehra cast him in the leading role for the film Zanjeer (1973) as Inspector Vijay Khanna. The film was a sharp contrast to the romantically themed films that had generally preceded it and established Amitabh in a new persona—the "angry young man" of Bollywood cinema,.[2] He earned a Filmfare Nomination for Best Actor. 1973 was also the year he married Jaya and around this time they appeared in several films together, not only in Zanjeer but in films such as Abhimaan which followed and was released only a month after their marriage. Later, Bachchan played the role of Vikram in the film Namak Haraam, a social drama directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee and scripted by Biresh Chatterjee addressing themes of friendship. His supporting role won him his second Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award.

In 1974, Bachchan made several guest appearances in films such as Kunwara Baap and Dost, before playing a supporting role in Roti Kapda Aur Makaan. The film, directed and written by Manoj Kumar, addressed themes of honesty in the face of oppression and financial and emotional hardship. Bachchan then played the leading role in film Majboor, released on 6 December 1974, which was a remake of the Hollywood film Zigzag. The film was only a moderate success at the box office.[9] In 1975, he starred in a variety of film genres from the comedy Chupke Chupke, the crime drama Faraar to the romantic drama Mili. 1975 was the year when he appeared in two films which are regarded as important in Hindi cinematic history. He starred in the Yash Chopra directed film Deewar, opposite Shashi Kapoor, Nirupa Roy, and Neetu Singh, which earned him a Filmfare Nomination for Best Actor. The film became a major hit at the box office in 1975, ranking in at number 4.[10] Indiatimes Movies ranks Deewaar amongst the Top 25 Must See Bollywood Films.[11] Released on 15 August 1975 was Sholay (meaning flames), which became the highest grossing film of all time in India, earning INR 2,36,45,00,000 equivalent to US$ 60 million, after adjusting for inflation.[12] Bachchan played the role of Jaidev. In 1999, BBC India declared it the "Film of the Millennium" and like Deewar, has been cited by Indiatimes movies as amongst the Top 25 Must See Bollywood Films.[11] In that same year, the judges of the 50th annual Filmfare awards awarded it with the special distinction award called Filmfare Best Film of 50 Years.

Bachchan starred in comedies such as Chupke Chupke (1975) and Amar Akbar Anthony (1977) and in films such as Kabhie Kabhie (1976). In 1976, he was once again cast by director Yash Chopra in his second film, Kabhi Kabhie, a romantic tale in which Bachchan starred as a young poet named Amit Malhotra who falls deeply in love with a beautiful young girl named Pooja played by actress Rakhee Gulzar. The film saw him again nominated for the Filmfare Best Actor Award. In 1977, he won his first Filmfare Best Actor Award for his performance in Amar Akbar Anthony where he played the third lead opposite Vinod Khanna and Rishi Kapoor as Anthony Gonsalves. In 1978 he starred in all four of the highest grossing films of India in that year.[13] He once again resumed double roles in films such as Kasme Vaade as Amit and Shankar and Don playing the characters of Don, a leader of an underworld gang and his look alike Vijay. His performance won him his second Filmfare Best Actor Award. He also performed in Trishul and Muqaddar Ka Sikander which both earned him further Filmfare Best Actor nominations. He was billed a "one-man industry" by the French director François Truffaut.[14]

In 1979, for the first time, Amitabh was required to use his singing voice for the film Mr. Natwarlal in which he starred alongside Rekha. His performance in the film saw him nominated for both the Filmfare Best Actor Award and the Filmfare Best Male Playback Awards. In 1979, he also received Best Actor nomination for Kaala Patthar (1979) and then went on to be nominated again in 1980 for the Raj Khosla directed film Dostana, in which he starred opposite Shatrughan Sinha and Zeenat Aman. Dostana proved to be the top grossing film of 1980.[15] In 1981, he starred in Yash Chopra's melodrama film Silsila, where he starred alongside his wife Jaya and rumoured lover Rekha. Other films of this period include Ram Balram (1980), Shaan (1980), Lawaaris (1981), and Shakti (1982) which pitted him against legendary actor Dilip Kumar.[16]
1982 injury while filming Coolie

On 26 July 1982, while filming Coolie in the University Campus in Bangalore, Bachchan suffered a near fatal intestinal injury during the filming of a fight scene with co-actor Puneet Issar.[17] Bachchan was performing his own stunts in the film and one scene required him to fall onto a table and then on the ground. However as he jumped towards the table, the corner of the table struck his abdomen, resulting in a splenic rupture from which he lost a significant amount of blood. He required an emergency splenectomy and remained critically ill in hospital for many months, at times close to death. The public response included prayers in temples and offers to sacrifice limbs to save him, while later, there were long queues of well-wishing fans outside the hospital where he was recuperating.[18] Nevertheless, he spent many months recovering and resumed filming later that year after a long period of recuperation. The film was released in 1983, and partly due to the huge publicity of Bachchan's accident, the film was a box office success.[19]

The director, Manmohan Desai, altered the ending of Coolie after Bachchan's accident. Bachchan's character was originally intended to have been killed off but after the change of script, the character lived in the end. It would have been inappropriate, said Desai, for the man who had just fended off death in real life to be killed on screen. Also, in the released film the footage of the fight scene is frozen at the critical moment, and a caption appears onscreen marking this as the instant of the actor's injury and the ensuing publicity of the accident.[18]

Later, he was diagnosed with Myasthenia gravis. His illness made him feel weak both mentally and physically and he decided to quit films and venture into politics. At this time he became pessimistic, expressing concern with how a new film would be received. Before every release he would negatively state, "Yeh film to flop hogi!" ("This film will flop").[20]
Politics: 1984–87

In 1984, Bachchan took a break from acting and briefly entered politics in support of long-time family friend, Rajiv Gandhi. He contested Allahabad's seat of 8th Lok Sabha against H. N. Bahuguna, former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and won by the one of the highest victory margins in general election history (68.2% of the vote).[21] His political career, however, was short-lived: he resigned after three years, calling politics a cesspool. The resignation followed the implication of Bachchan and his brother in the "Bofors scandal" by a newspaper, which he vowed to take to court. Bachchan was eventually found not guilty of involvement in the ordeal.[22]

His old friend, Amar Singh, helped him during a financial crisis due to the failure of his company ABCL. Therefore Bachchan started to support Amar Singh's political party, the Samajwadi party. Jaya Bachchan joined the Samajwadi Party and became a Rajya Sabha member.[23] Bachchan has continued to do favors for the Samajwadi party, including advertisements and political campaigns. These activities have recently gotten him into trouble again in the Indian courts for false claims after a previous incident of submission of legal papers by him, stating that he is a farmer.[24]

A 15 year press ban against Bachchan was imposed during his peak acting years by Stardust and some of the other film magazines. In his own defense, Bachchan claimed to have banned the press from entering his sets until late 1989.[25]
Slump and retirement: 1988–1992

In 1988, Bachchan returned to films, playing the title role in Shahenshah, which was a box office success due to the hype of Bachchan's comeback.[26] After the success of his comeback film however, his star power began to wane as all of his subsequent films failed at the box office. The 1991 hit film, Hum, for which he won his third Filmfare Best Actor Award, looked like it might reverse this trend, but the momentum was short-lived as his string of box office failures continued. Notably, despite the lack of hits, it was during this period that Bachchan won his first National Film Award for Best Actor, for his performance as a Mafia don in the 1990 film Agneepath. These years would be the last he would be seen on screen for some time. After the release of Khuda Gawah in 1992, Bachchan went into semi-retirement for five years. In 1994, one of his delayed films Insaniyat was released but was also a box office failure.[27]

He will get his personal bodyguard, Shera, to launch the theatrical trailer of his bumper Eid release.

In fact, Salman wants related stories only Shera to be in the spotlight while introducing the much-awaited theatrical trailer of his action-packed extravaganza. So, the superstar is unlikely to be present at the launch today (in fact, he hasn’t confirmed his attendance yet). Shera is expected to take the media through the first look and address them on Salman’s behalf.

“It’s a very symbolic gesture. After all, Shera has been Salman’s bodyguard for several years now. Also, it fits in with the film’s line of communication perfectly,” says Priti Shahani of Reliance Pictures, Bodyguard’s co-producer. “All of us, including Salman, discussed the idea and he is very comfortable with it.”

Shera is, of course, excited and overwhelmed to get such a platform. “I will call it the destiny of the relationship that Shera has nurtured with Salman over the years,” says Shahani about Shera, who has been with the superstar for almost a decade now.

Earlier this year, Salman had turned down an offer of Rs 7 crore to wear a security company’s uniform in the film, opting instead for Shera's brand. Several security agencies had approached him to use their uniforms, thereby giving them a huge publicity push, but the actor only wanted to wear the uniform of his own trusted bodyguard's company.
With Bodyguard, Salman returns to the big screen on Eid again. For the past three years, Salman has had a festive release, and all of them have been box office hits. This film will aim to follow up the success of Wanted (2009) and Dabangg (2010).

Bodyguard is an upcoming bollywood romantic, action, comedy movie. It is directed by Siddique. Lead roles are done by Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor. It is scheduled for release on Eid, at 31 August, 2011.

Murder 2 (2011) Music Review

The first instalment of Murder rode high on its musical quotient. As director Mohit Suri brings us the film's second outing, Murder 2, with Emraan Hashmi and Jacqueline Fernandes in the lead roles, all eyes, or ears, perhaps, are on the film's soundtrack, to see whether the film matches up to the original in anyway. With three sets of composers, Harshit Saxena, Sangeet and Siddharth Haldipur and Mithoon, making contributions to the album, it waits to be seen how this multi-pronged musical effort pans out.

The first track on the album is hale dil, which sees reality show vocalist Harshit Saxena moonlight as a composer. The track carries a straightforward pop sound, though built around a catchy melody. Overdosing on Saxena's autotuned vocals for the most part, the number moves ahead with a set of choral harmonies and bears a strong resemblance to the sound of the first Murder soundtrack, especially when Dominique Cerejo's background vocals kick in towards the end. The heavily synthesised original is upstaged by its later acoustic version though, which opens with some very appealing stringwork from Kalyan Barua. Though the track isn't really an acoustic edit, with some very audible electric guitar bits towards the middle, the version has a very interesting, alt-rock rock sound that gives it a captivating feel.

The second track on the album is probably the pick of the set, with Sunidhi Chauhan stepping up to the mic on aa zara. The number, composed and arranged by Sangeet and Siddharth Haldipur, has a menacing theme to its melody and has a very climactic sort of feel, which makes the filmmaker's decision to use it in the film's promos understandable. Sunidhi uses her vocal instrument to full effect here, perfecting the almost Bond-esque sort of singing here. The track is remixed in a version called aa zara (reloaded), where Kiran Kamath rekits the number in a beat-heavy, synth-based edit that clubs and discotheques will find easy to pick up.

Composer Mithoon contributes the lyrics and music, both, to aye khuda. He is also on vocals here, along with Kshitij Tarey and Saim Bhat. The track's middle-eastern feel has a very perceptible Atif Aslam hangover, though it doesn't quite manage the same sort of appeal that the Pakistani singer has. The number's arrangement is rather predictable, the muezzin type background vocals taking centrestage for dramatic effect that never quite takes form. The track's remix by Kiran Kamath goes synth-crazy, loaded up with beats to make it dance-floor friendly.

Mithoon's second entry on the soundtrack is phir mohabbat, a slow track penned by Sayeed Quadri, where the composer recruits Mohd. Irfan, Arijit and Saim Bhat on vocal duties. The track, arranged around some simple string lines, has a quiet sound, and is rather low-key compared to the rest of the stuff here. Unfortunately, though, this contemplative track doesn't really hit the mark, and doesn't offer up anything significantly memorable.

The final original number on the album is the fast-paced tujhko bhulaana, composed by Sangeet and Siddharth Haldipur. The former also takes on the vocals, in a duet with Roshni Baptist. The out-and-out dance number goes big with the syth-rock sound, with Sangeet's vocals backed up by Sukriti and Prakriti Kakar on backing chorus. The track features some interesting guitarwork from Abhilash Phukan, with programmed percussion to keep him company. Still, though the track has a 'loud' sort of melody, an ascending sound, it doesn't quite take off and fails to make a mark.

Overall, the Murder 2 soundtrack is quite a disappointment, especially in light of the fact that the first outing for the film was such a musical success, with few tracks, like aa zara and hale dil, worth remembering here. Perhaps the fault lies with the film's makers, who choose to go with multiple composers for a single album, taking away any chances of the film's soundtrack having a unifying theme. Perhaps, then, Murder 2 makes for a perfect example of how too many cooks spoil the broth...?

Murder 2 (2011) Movie Review

If there ever was a song that could make one murderous, it has to be bheege hont tere, from the original Murder. Given how popular the number became on its release and the way radio stations played it on loop then, the Kunal Ganjawala number could make anyone homicidal. It is appropriate, then, that in Murder 2, the insane serial killer at hand hums and sings the song each time he's going to his 'job'.

While the original Murder', helmed by Anurag Basu, was a taut thriller that remixed the plot of the Richard Gere-Diane Lane starrer Unfaithful for desi audiences, Mohit Suri's meandering sequel is a film so disconnected from anything of the original, that it could have been passed off under any other name. In fact, while the original kept its thrills and twists coming till the end, Murder 2 simply can't hold its secrets to its chest.

The plot here, penned by Mahesh Bhatt, seems mildly inspired by Ted Levine's 'Buffalo Bill' act from Jonathan Demme's Silence Of The Lambs. But where that one had a genius-level performance from Anthony Hopkins as the deadly Hannibal Lecter, Murder 2 just has a scowling Emraan Hashmi to fill in, as a vigilante ex-cop, Arjun, whose chief activity seems to be acting smug and scowling at churches. While he keeps talking about being somehow wronged by God, what wrong he has suffered, we'll never know. Fortunately, the film's few chills come from the brilliant Prashant Narayanan, who steps into the role of the menacing, transgender serial killer, Dheeraj Pandey, who gets off on viciously butchering call girls that he keeps hiring out, the last of whom, Reshma, is still alive and whom, Arjun is determined to save.

In the midst, there is also an angle with Priya, played by Jacqueline Fernandez, a model and complete hottie, who has been involved with Arjun physically for years, and is madly in love with, though he simply doesn't want to settle down. Apart from bringing in the 'erotic' in this 'erotic thriller', one has no idea what this story track is here for.

The problem with Murder 2 is that there is simply no suspense in this thriller, the titular 'murderer' being revealed within the first half itself. While Prashant plays up his deranged killer role to maximum gain, the frequent breaks in the narrative to accommodate the various angles of the story make Murder 2 a dragging affair, especially in the second half.

Emraan Hashmi, with all the acting skills of a whiteboard, plays Arjun with his standard smart Alec charm. Though he is effective in a few scenes, like the one where he rages at Dheeraj in the lock-up, for the most part, one simply can't shake off the feeling of déjà vu, having seen him carry on with the same act in quite a few of his other films. One has to wonder then, whether this is a problem with his characterisation or simply the way he plays it.

Prashant Narayanan, on the other hand, makes the most of his deadly turn as Dheeraj, playing up the insanity to a perfect degree, especially in scenes like his interrogation by the police, once he's caught. One hopes that this role brings the talented actor wider acclaim than he's used to.

Apart from Emraan and Prashant, most others here are bit players. Jacqueline Fernandez wallows in an ill-defined role, though, thankfully, she doesn't make quite a hash of it. The former beauty queen brings a superb level of oomph to the film, though there's little else there for her. Sudhanshu Pandey as Arjun's cop friend is okay. Sulagna Panigrahi plays Reshma, screaming her way through the role of Pandey's victim.

The film's cinematography, by Ravi Walia, shows a few interesting flashes, in heightening the scares in the initial moments of the film, but finds little more in terms of creativity for the rest of the film. The film's score is similar, with a few good turns from Mithoon and the Haldipur brothers, Sangeet and Siddharth, here and there, though this is hardly stuff that can match up to Anu Malik's soundtrack for the original Murder.

Murder 2 ultimately comes off as an attempt by the Bhatt camp to simply hold onto the Murder brand that they created. An ill-planned attempt, one might add. Add a few more thrills to this affair and it could have been a contender for the title, but as it stands now, Murder 2 is simply a hash of a good film from Mohit Suri, one that simply can't focus on what might hold the audiences' attention.

No Problem Movie Review

The latest film starring a whole lot of Bollywood stars in No problem is a big farce directed by Anees Bazmee. The man has really gone bankrupt with ideas, so nonsensical is the story that even a third grade student can come up with something intelligent and funny. One wonders the reason behind making this film, if it is meant to make people laugh, the gags fall flat, must try hard to tickle thy self as the plot goes for a toss and returns in the final scenes only to be dismantled and deconstructed.

Sanjay Dutt looks as if he has done a favour to Bazmee by acting in this so called comic caper, Anil Kapoor should have continued watching his Slum Dog Millionair DVD and shouldn't have come out of retirement. Sushmita Sen who plays the role of Anil Kapoor's wife, suffering from a split personality over does every scene and every expression and when she is doing nothing, she ends up looking like an over dressed Christmas tree, throwing sickles, hammers and what you have at her unsuspecting and tolerating hubby.

Kangana Ranaut has seemingly put on some weight, tries doing a Barbie with her false eye lashes and a fringe, Neetu Singh in her ghastly short costumes tries some stunts, all in all a big group of actors make a mockery of themselves. Try not looking for a story as there is none but you do understand that there are a few people trying to rob diamonds, there are cops trying to nab them. The setting is in Durban, and all the jokers meet up with a Gorilla who does the impossible and the diamonds landing in a fishes tummy.

No Problem has no soul, no structure, bad music but lovely cinematography. Do yourself a favour by plugging your ears and getting some sound sleep this biting winter.

Pamela Anderson entered the Bigg Boss house on Tuesday night looking aged and haggard. A slinky, strappy blouse and a very Bollywoodish white chiffon sari were very much in place, but the 43- year- old couldn’t quite turn on the heat as she did a decade ago with her trademark red swimsuit on Baywatch. Pamela appears on Bigg Boss season 4 for just three episodes.

She is a sort of ‘ item number’ on the show, which seems desperate right now to beat the TRPs of rival reality show Kaun Banega Crorepati 4. After all, the Amitabh Bachchcan- helmed KBC , aired in the same primetime slot on a rival channel, has been enjoying TRPs close to 4.7 while Bigg Boss 4 ratings have failed to cross 3.7 so far.

Pamela was reportedly paid close to Rs. 9 crore for the three days she will be seen in the Bigg Boss house. However, for all the hype generated on her arrival, her participation seems like a clear case Hollywood dumping a ‘ has- been’ celeb on Indian audiences.

On Tuesday’s episode, Pamela didn’t look like she is interested in creating any fireworks that can top what Dolly Bindra has already created on the show. She went about grinning self- consciously and striking namaste poses as she was introduced to the housemates. And she tried picking up some basic tips on spoken Hindi.

However, fans of the show expecting a bikini sizzle from Pamela will be disappointed. Among preconditions she has reportedly laid down is one stating that she won’t wear a bikini on Bigg Boss 4. Instead, she wants to present an ethnic image. So, she entered the house wearing a chiffon sari with baadla work, designed by Ashley Rebello.

On Tuesday’s episode, Pamela could not do much to hide her wrinkles, which showed more prominently once she removed her make-up after settling down in the house.
