'Jai Ho' Saturday (Day 2) Nett Collection

Jai Ho had a small drop in business on its second day as it grossed around 16.50 crore nett taking its two day business to around 33.50 crore nett. The business was inmost circuits was similar to Friday with mass circuits being down as they did well on Friday.. The multiplex audience has not taken to the film as they did not gain a lot on Saturday despite being low on Friday

The performance at single screens is better but not outstanding. Sunday is a big holiday for Republic Day so the film should show a good jump.

Sunday is the acid test for Jai Ho and the jump has to be huge. Krrish 3 also suffered a bit in its first three days but showed a huge jump on its fourth day which was a national holiday and that is the sort of thing that is needed by Jai Ho to have a chance of being successful. The chances do look slim as Krrish 3 was hit by pre- diwali festivities in its opening few days but there is no such case here. The plus for the film is that Saturday did not fall a lot so it can't be written off yet.

Dhoom 3 8th Day (2nd Friday) Nett Collection

Dhoom 3 continues its dream run as it collected around 10 crore nett as per early estimates on day eight. The collections are little lower than the eighth day of 3 Idiots but that is because it was a national holiday for 3 Idiots on day eight. It is the second highest day eight collections of all time.

The weekend should go on to do record business as there will be a jump in weekend business for Dhoom 3 which was not there for 3 Idiots. The second weekend record is 33 crore approx for 3 Idiots and Dhoom 3 has chances to get near the 40 crore nett mark or even go over depending on Saturday and Sunday growth.

Dhoom 3 has grossed 184 crore nett approx in eight days in its hindi version which is close to the lifetime business of the third highest grosser ever Ek Tha Tiger. The top two are Chennai Express and 3 Idiots.

'Dhoom 3' Fifth Day (Day 5 Tuesday) Nett Collection in India

Aamir Khan's Dhoom 3 had another huge day as it collected in the 20-21 crore nett range as per warly estimates taking its total to around 136 crore nett. The collections on Tursday edged up a little in the metros and other multiplex dominated cities while others stayed the same or dropped a little. The multiplex areas benefited in the evening due to next day being a holiday.

The film is likely to add another 40-45 crore nett over the next two days to have a first week total in the range of 175-180 crore nett which is 25% more than anything else before.

Dhoom 3 is also on course to break the long standing second week records of 3 Idiots. It is these records which have remain unchallenged over the past 4 years although first week records have been broken many times.

Elsewhere the film had record three day collections in practically every market. The IMAX release helped in many territories. The Christmas period is very good in UK and US and the film has a shot at probably one of the hardest records to achieve which is UK lifetime. Dhoom 3 is Still Strong on Its Fourth Day (Monday) at the box office. The collections on Monday are simply unparalleled with huge unseen before numbers. The early collections coming in suggest an 18 crore nett figure and it could even go a little higher.

The film on Monday is competing with the highest non holiday first day totals ever on its fourth day. Whatever the final number comes in at it will be phenomenal.

Box Office: 'Dhoom 3' Collect 200 Crore Mark in 3 Days

Dhoom 3 has set a new benchmark as it has crossed the 200 crore mark for weekend collections worldwide. It is the first film to cross the enviable 200 crore mark. Chennai Express had grossed 160 crore approx in its first three days.

The gross collections in India are around 130 crore and Sunday figures for some markets in overseas are not available yet it is sure to be over 70 crore and could even go over 75 crore. The total should come in the range of $12 million.

The out performance in overseas is even bigger than in India. The India collections are just 9-10% bigger than Chennai Express but overseas collections are 60-65% higher with the film seeing records smashed by huge margins wherever released.

To have box office receipts of 200 crore plus across the world is just extraordinary. The feat is difficult to explain in words but the fact that Dabangg 2 which released exactly one year ago was the first film to hit 100 crore wordwide tells the story as Dhoom 3 has doubled that figure in just 12 months and that too with a holiday in the domestic market.

The unparalleled mark of 500 CRORE worldwide is on for Dhoom 3.

The fourth episode of the season four of ‘Koffee with Karan’ saw a flamboyant Ranveer Singh almost deceiving the host of the show - Karan Johar - with his mighty wit.

Dhoom 3 is set for another huge day on Saturday with fantastic collections all over. There will be a drop as the first day collections were so high that inevitably Saturday morning could not compare to Friday morning but thereafter collections have been on par with Friday. The big multiplexes held collections very strongly on Saturday.

The drop on Saturday will be around 10-15% so the collections should come in at around the 27-28 crore nett region which is a huge number.

The trends on Saturday suggest the film is looking set for a fantastic run with the weekend set to close at record levels for all India collections and with a big midweek holiday on Wednesday the film will close the week with all records totally shattered.

'Big Boss 7' Another FIR Lodged Against Salman Khan

‘Bigg Boss 7’ is already amidst various controversies- from the host Salman Khan being biased towards Tanishaa Mukherji to Sofia Hayat filing a police complaint against Armaan Kohli for an alleged physical assault.

To add on to this, the show is once again in the limelight, thanks to the FIR filed against Salman and the show.

According to a news channel, an FIR was filed against the ‘Dabangg’ star and the makers of the reality show for allegedly insulting Muslim sentiment on the popular show. Th case was booked under section 295 of the Indian Penal Code at Falaknuma police station in the old city of Hyderabad.

According to the Police Commissioner Anurag Sharma, the petitioner mentioned in his complaint that the religious sentiments of Muslims were hurt during the show.

"Before proceeding further with the investigations in the case, we have sought legal opinion with regard to the jurisdiction and culpability," he said.

He also added that the request alleged that the show has hurt the religious sentiments by depicting 'Jannat' (heaven) and 'Jahannum' (hell).

Salman Khan has also been the subject of two other legal controversies- which is a hit and run case in 2002, and the other one is for hunting a black buck.

On the other hand, the show is being blamed for the alleged bias towards Armaan Kohli, as it is said that the actor was not eliminated from the show for the supposed physical assault against Hayat. The audience has also questioned as to why the footage of the scuffle between Hayat and Kohli wasn’t shown to the viewers.

'Dhoom 3' About to Create Opening Day Record

Dhoom 3 (Hindi) is challenging for the opening day record despite releasing on a non holiday. Only two films have got to 30 crore nett on day one and they are Ek The Tiger and Chennai express. Krissh 3 managed a 31 crore nett on its fourth day but all these figures were recorded on national holidays be it Independence Day, Eid or Diwali.

The film can top the 30 crore nett mark or stay below a by a couple od crore depending how the evening shapes. There will be a drop at some multiplexes in cities where it is cold and the last show at single screens will be lower as is always the case in December in parts of UP, Haryana and Punjab.

It is a bit irrelevant whether the record comes or not as just to be up there with films which broke records on holidays is outstanding. No film has yet crossed 20 crore nett on a non holiday and Dhoom 3 is on target for 30 crore nett. Factoring in the holiday factor, the growth in ticket rates and growth in screen counts it is probably the biggest opening in recent times.

Dhoom 3 With Record Breaking Ticket Price

Mumbai: As `Dhoom 3` readies to make its stylised entry at the Indian box office Friday, it seems that it will not just impact audiences visually but financially as well.

If that is not enough, the film is expected to make waves in Pakistan too.

As the film`s release draws closer, the IMAX screens have set their prices at Rs.400-600 for the morning shows and Rs.700-900 for the night shows, according to their official website.

For a family of five, watching "Dhoom 3" could thus mean an expenditure of Rs.4,500, sans any coke and popcorn!

The prices might seem extravagant and uneconomical for a middle class family but advance booking status on the website shows that the seats are filling up fast and have even been sold out at places.

This might be the status for IMAX screens but others are keeping the ticket price affordable. The cost of tickets in multiplexes ranges between Rs.300-Rs.400.

The prices in New Delhi seem to be lesser than those in Mumbai and range between Rs.200-Rs.250, with the exception of a few theatres where the prices have gone upto Rs.500.

Smaller cities like Chandigarh and Jaipur fall in the average price range of Rs.150-Rs.400. However, there are also places like the Gaiety Galaxy theatre in Bandra here where you can enjoy Aamir Khan`s grey character in the action thriller at reasonable rates.

"All the theatres might have been taking advantage of the release of `Dhoom 3`, but we at Gaiety Galaxy have made it a point to not increase the rate. Our ticket prices remain consistent at Rs.70-Rs.90," said Manoj Desai of Gaiety Galaxy.

Desai added that the weekend is already pre-booked and he is expecting an identical pattern in the following week as well.

Produced under the Yash Raj Films (YRF) banner and directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, the film boasts of a starry cast with Aamir in a new avatar - he will be seen as a gymnast.

Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra will reprise their roles of Jai Dixit and Ali from the last two "Dhoom" movies and Katrina Kaif will enhances the glamour quotient as the female lead in the movie, which will be Bollywood`s first film to be released in the IMAX format, a specialised film format.

The 2D film is already being appreciated for the stunts featured in the trailer and especially the bike scenes featuring Aamir.

Trade analyst Amod Mehra predicts that the film will surpass the collections of previous blockbusters.

"Reality check.. Mark my words...`Dhoom 3` will cross Rs.100 crore in the first three days and it will also cross Rs.200 crore in the first seven days," Mehra said in post on Twitter Wednesday.

Raising the bar of pre-release promotions, the makers have also come up with innovative advertisements with tag lines reading - "It`s Dhoom day...Are you bunking college today".

Not only is the film expected to flourish in India, it will also see a release in Pakistan.

'Indian Idol 2' winner Sandeep Acharya dead

"Yes, Sandeep passed away at the Medanta Hospital today. He was suffering from jaundice. We brought him here on Dec 10," Akshay Acharya, Sandeep`s cousin, said.

"Before that he was admitted to a hospital in Bikaner (Rajasthan). He was there for three days after which we brought him to Delhi," he added.

Soon after winning the second season of singing reality show `Indian Idol` in 2006, Sandeep Acharya released his first album `Mere Saath Saara Jahaan`.

"He was supposed to release his new album `O Sanam Tere Bina` mid-December," said Akshay.

Choreographer-filmmaker Farah Khan, who judged the reality show`s second season with music composer Anu Malik and Sonu Nigam, tweeted: "It`s too sad to hear of Sandeep Acharya, winner of `Indian Idol 2` and my favourite, passing away. Such a gentle boy he was. Not his time to go."

Sonu also felt sad after reading about Sandeep`s demise. "Jaundice? Gosh...very sad. The boy was just 29...This year, oh god, is only about deaths I feel. God give his parents some strength," read Sonu`s tweet.

Anchor-actress Mini Mathur, who hosted `Indian Idol 2`, was taken aback with the news. She tweeted: "What a sad, premature goodbye to a talented, ambitious, happy boy. RIP Sandeep Acharya."

Even Sony Entertainment Television expressed their sadness over Sandeep`s passing.

"A big loss for all of us with the shocking demise of `Indian Idol 2` winner Sandeep Acharya. May his soul rest in peace and may God give strength to his family in this extremely difficult time," the channel posted on their Facebook page.

Singer Shreya Ghoshal wished the news about his demise to be untrue.

"Just heard about `Indian Idol` Sandeep Acharya...Shocked. Too young, and a wonderful guy...I still hope this news is untrue," Shreya tweeted.

His body is now being taken to his hometown Bikaner where the last rites will be performed.

Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra slips into the role of a glamorous cabaret dancer named Nandita for Yash Raj Films’ “Gunday”.

“Gunday”, directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and produced by Aditya Chopra, also features Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor. They play the rough-and-tough Bikram and Bala respectively.

While recreating the authenticity of Calcutta (now Kolkata) of the 1970s, Zafar also introduces the audience to the then prevalent world of cabaret dancing via Priyanka’s character.

New Delhi: Director Samir Tewari’s comic caper ‘Mr Joe B Carvalho’ is being touted as a comedy of errors which erupts from the confusion of mistaken identity between a namesake detective and the villain played by Javed Jaffrey. Shakti Kapoor’s presence is meant to add a comic edge to the film. The film’s leading lady is Soha Ali Khan who is playing a ‘Dabanggi’ cop ala Salman Khan.

The trailer is full of comic moments that will leave you asking for more. Arshad Warsi’s screen name, Joe Bhi Carvalho, itself has a comic undertone to it. The name Joe B Carvalho could be read as ‘Jo Bhi Karvalo’ in Hindi language which translates to ‘make me do anything’. Rising on this hidden meaning, there promo features a funny sequence in which Arshad’s character heroically introduces himself to the baddies. The bad man asks “Kaun hai be tu? (Who are you?).” To which Arshad replies, “Joe B Carvalho (Jo Bhi Karvalo – Make me do anything).” The bad man dismissively answers back, “Humein kuch nahi karvana (We don’t want to get anything done).” Embarrassed at the reply, Arshad clarifies his name by saying, “Detective Joe B Carvalho.”
