It might have been a glum year for Indian cinema at Oscars 2015 with no movie representation from the country, but that didnt stop Bollywood celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra and Shekhar Kapur from rooting for their favourite films and lauding the winners.
The 87th Academy Awards ceremony was held in Los Angeles Sunday night and Bollywood stars soon took to Twitter to share their excitement.

BOLLYWOOD'S VERSION OF THE HOLLYWOOD-INSPIRED GOLDEN RASPBERRY AWARDS WILL HONOUR THE WORST BOLLYWOOD FILMS THAT RELEASED IN 2014

Filmmaker Sajid Khan's film Humshakals is leading the nominations at the 7th Annual Golden Kela Awards with five nominations, while Prabhu Deva's Action Jackson has bagged four nods.

The awards, which are the Indian version of the Hollywood-inspired Golden Raspberry Awards, will honour the worst Bollywood films that released in 2014.

Humshakals, which starred Saif Ali Khan, Riteish Deshmukh, Bipasha Basu, Ram Kapoor, Tamannaah Bhatia and Esha Gupta in pivotal roles, has been nominated in the categories of Worst Film, Worst Director and Worst Actor, Most Atrocious Lyrics and for the Baawra Ho Gaya Hai Ke Award.

Action Jackson, starring Ajay Devgn and Sonakshi Sinha, has also received nods for Worst Film, Worst Director, Worst Actor and Worst Actress.

The other movies in the Worst Film category are Salman Khan's Kick, Hrithik Roshan's Bang Bang and Shah Rukh Khan's Happy New Year.

Saif and Ajay are competing for the Worst Actor crown against Arjun Kapoor (Gunday), Salman Khan (Kick) and Rani Mukerji (Mardaani).

In the Worst Actress category, the contenders are Katrina Kaif (Bang Bang!), Sonam Kapoor (for all her movies in 2014), Tamannah Bhatia (Entertainment), Jacqueline Fernandes (Kick) and Sonakshi (Action Jackson, Lingaa and Holiday).

Vying for the Golden Kela for Worst director are Sajid Khan (Humshakals), Prabhu Deva (Action Jackson), Rohit Shetty (Singham Returns), Sajid Nadiadwala (Kick), Sohail Khan (Jai Ho) and Siddharth Anand (Bang Bang!).

2014's hit numbers like Sunny Sunny (Yaariyan), Yaar Na Miley (Kick), Baby Doll (Ragini MMS 2), Galliyan (Ek Villain) and Tu Meri (Bang Bang!) have received nods for Most Irritating Song.

The persons nominated in the Most Atrocious Lyrics category include, Sameer for Caller Tune (Humshakals), Shabbir Ahmed for Ice Cream (The Xpose), Yo Yo Honey Singh for Sunny Sunny (Yaariyan), Vishal Dadlani for Tu Meri (Bang Bang!) and Mayur Puri for Johnny Johnny (Entertainment).

The Worst Debutant category includes the likes of Tiger Shroff (Heropanti), The Xpose Girls (The Xpose), Mishti and Kartik Tiwari (Kaanchi), the whole cast and crew of Yaariyan and Daisy Shah (Jai Ho).

The contenders for the Baawra Ho Gaya Hai Ke Award are Raj and DK (Happy Ending), Abhishek Sharma (The Shaukeens), Nawazuddin Siddiqui (Kick), Ram Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan (Humshakals) and Shashanka Ghosh (Khoobsurat).

The Most Pointless Remake/Sequel category includes films like Shaadi Ke Side Effects, Ragini MMS 2, Singham Returns, Bang Bang!, Khoobsurat, The Shaukeens, Bhoothnath Returns and Hate Story 2.

Actors Sonam Kapoor, Jackie Bhagnani, Himesh Reshammiya, Subhash Ghai, Ayushman Khurana and Yami Gautam have been nominated for the Why Are You Still Trying Award.

The 7th Annual Golden Kela Awards ceremony will take place here at the India Habitat Centre on March 14.

Roy made a business of 3.76 crores on 5th Day i.e. 1st Tuesday at the Domestic Box Office. The movie, which was released around Valentine’s Day is the highest opening day grosser of 2015 with 10.40 crores on its first day. Despite India Vs Pakistan match on Sunday afternoon, the evening shows saw a big jump and the weekend summed upto 28.68 crores which has made it the second biggest weekend grosser of 2015 after Akshay Kumar’s Baby. Roy stands at a Domestic total of 36.09 crores.

Roy that was made in the moderate budget of 30 crores with additional 10 crores for P & A, has garnered 36.09 crores in five days and already earned 35 crores through music, overseas rights and satellite rights. The movie which was made in a modest budget as already recovered its cost of making.

With the film still in cinemas, India box office collection with Home Video, internet and terrestrial rights the film which are yet to monetized will make the film a definite profit for the producers.

Hindi film celebrities in Bollywood took to social media on Valentine's Day, spreading their own messages of love to their fans and the public on social media.

Bollywood film stars promoted messages of peace, love, and happiness on Twitter last Feb. 14 to commemorate Valentine's Day in India.

Several celebrities from India's Bollywood took Twitter by storm, posting messages of love for their partners, fans, and the public, while others, like director, Shirish Kunder and composer, Vishal Dadlani made fun of the Hindu Mahasabha's guiding moral principle of marrying off couples expressing any form of affection.

Urging followers to spread love, happiness and peace, the younger generation of stars from Alia Bhatt to Sidharth Malhotra wished everyone a happy heart's day. Even the older actors like Priyanka Chopra and Anupam Kher jumped on the bandwagon to commemorate the occasion on the micro-blogging site.

Messages included urging followers to "have a large heart" despite a "very small degree of hope," loving spouses and partners everyday and not just Valentine's Day, showing respect for loved ones and self, sharing and spreading the love, and even a shoutout of emotion expressing affection for Italian actress, Monica Belucci.

Among the tweets included censure and criticism for nationalist political party, Hindu Mahasabha after protests across India erupted following the organization's detention and forced marriages upon couples celebrating Valentine's Day with expressions of affection.

"Fall in Love, Not in Line," were printed on placards carried by over 150 protesters outside the Hindu Mahasabha's offices in New Delhi in dissent over their moral policing.

"Took my dog out for a walk. Hindu Mahasabha got us married. Need your blessings. Happy Valentine's Day!" filmmaker, Shirish Kunder taunted on his Twitter account.

Another film director, Punit Malhotra, expressed his displeasure over Hindu Mahasabha's moral crackdown on India's young couples.

"Don't really believe in it... But Happy Valentine's Day :) And special love to all the goons who trouble youngsters celebrating this day :)"

There are reports that Salman Khan has a found himself a new role as a script writer for the sequel to his 2013 blockbuster 'Kick'.

Entitled 'Devil', the story idea for the sequel came from Salman.

But will Salman cast Jacqueline?

During the promotion of her latest release 'Roy', the actress said she has no clue if 'Kick' sequel has been conceptualised, reports NDTV.

Aamir starrer PK creates history - crosses 300 cr mark

Amid controversies surrounding the film, Aamir khan starrer and Rajkumar hirani directed movie "PK" has broken all bollywood box office records. The movie crossed the 300cr mark in the domestic market.
The movie is also set to cross the 600cr mark worldwide.

After making 3 Idiots in 2009 it took five years for Rajkumar Hirani to find the right story to make a come back. Clearly he was making sure he only lives up to the sky high expectations and raises the bar once again.

The flick pierces a thought into our wits that would remain there for long. We all believe in God and yes there is no question of undermining its power. However, there is a strong condemnation over its presence, which earlier Bollywood movies have made but most of them have been at receiving end.
Here Rajkumar Hirani takes similar subject and treats it in a satirical and amusing mode. Without dissecting the issue, the director effortlessly gives an outcome, which none of us would have ever thought of!

It starts with Jaggu (Anushka Sharma) a journalist student in Bruges, Belguim who after completing her studies comes back to her hometown in India. Here she meets PK (Aamir Khan) who has his own weird techniques to deal with things in society. He is a never seen before any human being and his style of dressing becomes a humorous point of accentuation, his manner of seeing the world is a matter of concern. There are many such unanswered questions by PK which initially become a butt of jokes but on a major scenario it’s debatable.
This catches Jaggu’s attention and she along with PK goes on to find the answers to these peculiar questions. Who is PK, what is his puzzle and why Jaggu finds it interesting? Find it all in this Rajkumar Hirani directorial.

Do watch out for Ranbir Kapoor - a little icing on a cake so appetizing that it will have you clamouring for more.

At a running time of almost three hours PK entertains you every minute and brings in surprises one after the other.

All the credit for this goes to the captain of the ship, the genius filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani who has raised the bar once again. PK is an absolute must watch film and watch it before your friends tell you all the surprise elements in detail.

Sibling rivalry is a common thing that happens in most households. Rajinikanth’s daughters Aishwarya Dhanush and Soundarya Ashwin Rajinikanth are also going through the same situation but will it help or simply create unnecessary ripples in a calm situation, remains to be seen. Both Aishwarya and Soundarya wish to release their directorial debut films 3 and Kochadaiyaan respectively on the same date. While competition is always healthy and keeps you on your toes, is it really necessary in this case, we wonder. But in all this, wethinks the real tussle will be between Rajinikanth and his son-in-law Dhanush. The Superstar has always ruled the roost at the box office. So, will the Kolaveri di star’s sudden popularity create a dent in Rajinikanth’s success? There’s ideally a slim chance for that to happen but one can never be too sure. Due to Rajinikanth’s mass appeal, Kochadaiyaan will be dubbed in Hindi while the worldwide popularity of Kolaveri di has compelled the makers of the film 3 to make a Hindi dub of their film as well. In an interview Dhanush confirms, “Yes, I am planning to dub 3 in Hindi and release it along with the Tamil version.”

While Dhanush’s 3 is on the finishing line, some romantic scenes are pending for Rajinikanth’s Kochadaiyaan. If both films still happen to release on the same date, there’s no doubt they will eat into each other’s profits. So we hope that the sisters take a step down from their rivalry and give it a serious thought. But the bigger dilemma is for the audience. Should they watch Rajinikanth’s Kochadaiyaan or Dhanush’s 3? While we are still making up our mind, do tell us which film you plan to watch first.

Ever since he broke up with Bipasha Basu, John Abraham has been in the news for his impending marriage plans to a banker named Priya Runchul. Even though the B-town hunk is said to have split with Bipasha because of his refusal to get married, his close friends say that he has been quite gung-ho about walking down the aisle with Priya. Strange as it may sound, John has never confirmed or denied this piece of information. And even as people were discussing his impending wedding plans, a piece of news that came in last night has surprised one and all. Social networking sites have been abuzz with talk that John has already tied the knot with his girlfriend at a secret ceremony in Los Angeles, USA two weeks ago since Priya’s family is based there. The actor, who had also spent his birthday with Priya and her family, is said to have kept even his close friends from Bollywood away from the hush-hush wedding. After spending nearly an hour at the Bachchans Juhu residence Jalsa, Oprah Winfrey, one of the most influential personalities in the world, came up with a name for Abhi-Ash’s newborn. Oprah has a befitting name for the baby – Princess! Abhishek and Aishwarya Bachchan’s bitiya is more than two months old now but she’s yet to have a naming ceremony. Though Bachchans have already finalised a name which begins with ‘Aa’, they haven’t made any official declaration yet. Amitabh stated recently that it is because astrologically it is an inauspicious time to make an announcement. But Beti B has been given a new name by Oprah now so that should suffice till she gets an official one. Oprah is on a maiden visit to India and rushed at the Bachchans house in Mumbai straight after landing in the city. She was keen to see Aishwarya and her new baby which has been a topic of discussion even in Hollywood!

The Bachchan family’s association with Oprah goes back a long way. Aishwarya had appeared on Oprah’s famous talk show as the most beautiful woman on the planet. And after tying the ceremonial knot with Abhishek, the hot couple once again made their starry presence felt on the same show. Now we are waiting to see if Abhishek and Aishwarya appear yet again, this time on Oprah’s new show, with their little Princess. Will the Next Chapter start with the starry Bachchan trio? Who knows!

Rascals Movie Review

Oh dear. Where to begin with the film, Rascals. Sometimes the level that our writers go to recreate a hit can be baffling. Ok, so we have the amazingly talented Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Dutt as the Rascalsin question. And yes you are expected to leave your brain at home but this is nowhere near what you would expect from them or director David Dhawan. This is one of those films that regardless of what or whom you see on screen, your brain and possibly your whole being will object. Expecting a comprehensive story would be naive but it isn’t too much to ask for some funny and innovative proceedings, is it? Apparently so.

So if you are prepared to take the plunge after seeing the trailer, there really isn’t much more to it. Bhagat Bhosle [Ajay Devgn] and Chetan Chohan [Sanjay Dutt] are your typical con men that incidentally pull one of the same guy, Anthony Gonsalves [Arjun Rampal] on the same day. To escape him, they both fly out to Bangkok where they meet. Now instead of becoming comrades, the two become instant rivals as they try to out-con each other for the major prize. To marry the rich, well-settled and beautiful multimillion dollar heiress, Khushi [Kangna Ranaut] for her money. Unfortunately for us, what was supposed to be a gag fest of one-upmanship turns into a lame excuse to recreate some classic slapstick comedy that Dhawan had created in the past.

Literally the only thing is pleasing to the eyes is the cinematography by Vikas Sivaraman and the initial reels of cartoons. And that’s about it. Right from when the two leading men are introduced and the location of Bangkok is established, it comes crashing down like a pack of cards. Seriously speaking Ajay and Sanjay have their hearts in the right place but neither stood a chance up against the ridiculous writing. Ajay’s blind major act may have been plausible enough to accept but what the writers were thinking when they wrote Sanjay’s “social worker/swamiji” type act, it beyond this writer. Arjun Rampal is also sincere in his attempt and while he is probably one of the more serious characters in the film, he doesn’t get much to do. Kangna has the role of being the ditsy billionaire that flaunts her assets [pun intended]. Not really a role that requires in depth acting or precision. But even then, she hams more than SPAM. Lisa Haydon has an amazing figure and clearly that was all that was required for her “role” of Dolly. Satish Kaushik is back on screen after a while but it is sad to see him wasted. Chunkey Pandey really needs to get better roles.

Yet no matter how much the actor’s try, when you are stuck with shoddy writing, saving the film is next to impossible. But the disappointment isn’t just in the writing. Music by Vishal-Shekhar isn’t a title card you would expect for Rascals when you walk out of the film. ‘Shake It Saiyyan’ may linger the charts a little longer but pretty much every song is forgotten by the time it’s over. The forgettable film’s editor Nitin Rokade may be talent as an editor and while you wish… nay, beg he had used his scissors more often; you can’t blame him since his material wasn’t the best. Fine, David, you want us to forget about logic and just watch the film for what it is. But this is ridiculous even by your standards! I mean the twists in the film are so obvious, you could see them at the beginning of the film. [Well sort of, but you catch my drift.]

So while Sanjay Dutt Productions in conjunction with Rupali Aum Entertainment and Venus Worldwide Entertainment, may have had the right intentions, but the audience won’t be conned by Rascals.

Bollywood actress Celina Jaitly got a raw job with her latest film Thank You but Celina is putting on a fearless front. She was cast opposing Sunil Shetty.
