Bomb-Answer Alters

Gitaxian Probe - Extension

2012-06-07T03:25:00.002-07:00

Sorry to my handful of readers for the break, but here's a simple one where I practiced blending color onto the colors already on the card.

Also tried to smooth out my layers

Next up will be an actual extension on Rampant Growth and/or Explore. Stay Tuned!

Nihil Spellbomb - Bomberman

Ok, first non-land alter, hopefully I don't have to go out and get another one :-/

Done for the night.

His right foot (the shorter one) looks a little smudgy because the paint was drying fast as I was applying it, adding water didn't help too much, so I'm probably going to scrape it off and try and mix that shade again.

Lesson learned: Cannot scrape paint off after a day of drying :(
Oh well, on we go:

Only thing left is fuse and face!

CAN YOU SMELL WHAT THE BOMBERMAN IS COOKIN'?

New things learned:

Permanent Marker applied directly to the card's surface will smudge when matte finish is applied, as you can see in the bottom right, which used to be my 'signature'.

Also, when paint even thinks about starting to dry up, add more paint/water! His right foot still kinda looks clumpy, but that's from me not wanting to color-match to fix it :(

Buy smaller brushes! I was told 2/0 round was good enough, but I've got a 5/0 round that I've been using and even that's too thick sometimes!

Higher-quality paint is thicker and dries faster than low-quality paint. This is neither good nor bad, but seeing as his peach-colored face was done using lower-quality paints, they're not all that bad.

Into the sideboard with you!

Swamp - Simon (Gurren Lagann)

This might be a bit simpler than the previous one, but I'm trying a new technique and getting a feel for it.

Some people said that the last one wasn't legal for tournaments, so now I'm leaving a bit more of the card untouched. Also, just got back from the art store with Black, White, and the 3 primaries in Golden Acrylics. Much, much nicer than my current dime-store colors!

Ready to sleeve up!

Forest - Amaterasu (Okami)

~~Still in progress, but here's a quick rundown of what I'm doing right now...~~ All done!

Took a break for the day here, then continued:

Now the only thing left is some finishing touch, like cherry blossoms or something.

Like so:

Well, now to figure out what's next!
