Endless Summer . Ombre hair. Beach.

It's basically always summer here, might rain, might not, and that's pretty much the difference. August this year, I dyed my hair (extensions) Ombre. Darker up, and bleached the tips. I googled a bunch of people who dyed their hair like Miley Cyrus, Lauren Conrad, and loads of bloggers and their tutorials helped like my girl ChloeHollywood. Basically buy hair bleach, and keep doing the tips, lower and lower.

So summer time, I went on some psycho diet for bout 3 weeks, lost bout 10lbs / 4.5kg, looked amazing, tummy wasn't tone though so couldn't throw away my coverup. But I still looked great... provided i didnt strip lol. The diet was crazy restricting calories, felt weak, wasn't worth it later cuz I got a bit sick, and i love food soo much so i went from eating like Nichole Richie to my normal pigout!! This day alone at the beach I probably had enough food for two people. Soo..... now in present day I've gained the weight back lol (i literally just ate a lot of cake from Cold Stone).

Was invited to a friends beach house to chil and relax. Was pretty mellow, went with my namesake Michelle, and then her brother Michael stopped by. lol so the three M's: Michelle, Michelle & Michael. Had a lotta fun, stuffed my face, took a ton of pictures, then came home chilled, then slept like a baby.

Let’s bypass the usual pleasantries of me apologizing for me being a horrible blogger, that takes long breaks, we’ve done this a lot, but we know I come back. It’s like that friend that you’re only friends with ‘cause they can soo cool & entertaining that you don’t want to cut them off, though a lot of times you want to smack them.

Sorry to all those who were worried about me. I just became one of those 9-5 people. Well 7.30am is when work starts, and I just stopped doing stuff. I've become boring!!! except for insane days like this when I wonder if I'm actually a TV character.

BUT GUESS WHAT!!!

Today is OCT 4^TH!!! And the last day of work! For my NYSC programme!! I’m soo excited.

And if your still mad I’ll tell you about my crazy day, and you have to forgive me, because I’m still trying to figure it out. It was straight out of a movie!

Soooo… last day of work. I think I’ll run to the government office during my 1-hour lunch break to get my clearance (basically steps to finish the programme by the govt). It’s raining cats and dogs, and I didn’t have a car at the office. So much later, a friend of mine picks me up with her adorable 3 month old. We rush to the government office, which will close soon at 4pm.

Early this moring: little did I know what would be instore for this dress.

So now, I have to change in her car from my lovely red outfit, to my NYSC outfit.

I wear my white shirt on top my red dress, wear my pants underneath my dress, and fold the bottom of my dress into my shirt (PS: if your not in the right outfit and shoes, you can get penalized and maybe no finish the programme).

We get there, it’s a long lengthy process (those who’ve done NYSC know what I mean!! It’s final clearance week). I didn’t get cleared yet. I have to go back tomorrow. So now it’s 28mins till I close work. My friend decides to stop and eat because she’s breast-feeding and says she needs to eat. I’m standing in the government office, freaked out cause it’s my last day of work and I need to get back, and not leave a bad or rude impression.

So I hail a yellow taxi, haggle the price (old old cab, no working ac, it’s now hot outside) there’s traffic. I have to figure out how to change, and take off my pants from underneath my dress without flashing, the cab guy keeps looking back UGH. Finally I get to work. BUT now I have a wardrobe malfunction –wedgie type thing. My dress is stuck and refuses to come down.

So I’m standing outside the gate, I’m stressed, and people are passing making signs for me to pull my dress down. I’m mortified, there are men everywhere, and I don’t want any of my coworkers to see me. I find a female groundnut (peanut) street seller, and beg her to help me with my dress. She says it’s stuck. We stay there for 5 mins, which felt like an eternity. Some random guy started shouting to the lady to just take my clothes off. Let’s ignore that irritant, finally I tell her she has to put her hand up my dress to pull out the inner part of the dress down. Finally! Sweaty, hair: a mess, dress: ok, and not cleared. I rush into work, go to the bathroom and breathe.

Come out, sit for a few minutes, and enjoy the AC. I look calm, they have no idea the craziness I just went through! getting to the government office, at the office, the cab, and my dress. I tell 2 people the story, say my long good byes to amazing coworkers, get gifts, head home, breathe. Wow got placed at the job in December. A year goes by fast!! Can you believe I've been in Nigeria Over a year!!! (Since June 29^th 2011)

Makeup Shopping Expedition (Mostly MAC Haul)

OMG I can't believe i've been in Lagos for almost a year!!!! I left Atlanta, june 28th 2011, and arrived in Lagos june 29th. WOW time flies. So before I moved back I bought a lot of stuff, hoping it would last me a really long time. I bought a bunch of makeup etc since we don't have MAC or Sephora or any of them. We have Sleek, mud, some other ones i've seen but have never tried.

Anyway as time went, so did my makeup. I had only one eyebrow pencil left (and then i lost it, and tried some ghetto horrible things). I've been out of mascara for several months. I have barely any false lashes. I lost my concealer brush.

Basically let's just say Ive been forced to the the "natural" look. So I decided to stock up!!! and stock up enough for another next year. So I wrote my list, bought it, and got my mum to bring it to Nigeria for me. My mum jokes I bought enough makeup to last not one but 2 years... maybe... we'll see :)

It doesn't look that much to me. I still need mascara!! and foundation, I'm almost out (well my foundation will last 4-5 months).

I bought sooooooo much powders. 2 different colors, cause sometimes I get tan, 2 different colors of concealers cause... I get tan. LOL anyways, this is my makeup haul. It's mostly MAC just out of habit. My sis bought me an affordable concealer brush from CVS i think or Target, and i got lashes from Forever 21 ( never tried it before i'm used to Shisem).

ps: Amanda if your reading this, I know my birthday was ages ago, But i'd like Mascara & that new foundation that MAC has :) thanks.

The Cargo (#40) is my FAVORITE powder out of all!!! I wish I didn't buy any thing else! It's amazing!!! prefer it to MAC. Wish I could trade it all for stacks of Cargo powder.

YES i bought about 4 of the same eye brow pencil (name: Spiked)!! I never want to run out again!

WHOA, that's a truck load of makeup!!! Do you know you can get a mac pro card or something and u'd get 30% off.... hmmm #JustSaying like many makeup artists and shopaholics have it. I'm an Igbo girl sha, so best believe I found a great way to pay under that price of almost $500! Anyways didn't get 2 lipsticks so i got the Cargo instead AMEN!!! just the week I sent this list the only Cargo I had fell down in the office and cracked into a million pieces. In the future maybe as I use the products i'll take pics, and say what I used, but... this is now my makeup collection... though I feel i need more stuff.

Don't judge, guys... you never think that you have enough games, like girls never think we have enough clothes or shoes, and in this case... makeup. Ive started enjoying the natural look, and it's a mechanism to not get "hit on" when im moving from office to office (it's not a foolproof plan, but it's probably helped.) hahahaha not that I'm Beyonce or anything, i'd just rather avoid awkward situations.

So ladies & gent. There comes a time in your life when you are seeing someone: be it a few dates, a few months or a few years, then all of a sudden, the relationship comes to an end, BAM! It's Over!

Two feelings: Good Riddance, OR I want you back; you are such an asshole for ending it with me, but I secretly want you back even though I can't confess that to my friends.

I'll admit, Ive been on dates with some people as we all know (who remembers the 12 hr date, ugh), one even lasted 6 months, but let's not talk about it. So there've been a few that when they ended I was filled with anger, and might have wished we didn't end so we could have a perfect future (And just incase any idiot ive ever been on a date with reads this, and thinks it's him: Get Over Yourself, I did!) lol don't mind me, I'm superficially cool with most. Rhema's Beach Birthday Party at Kamp Ikare

So May 5th, got invited to Rhema's beach party. It was at Kamp Ikare. Most private beach houses i've been to in Lagos have been at Ilashe, so to be honest, when I heard Kamp Ikare, I just assumed maybe that's what someone named their beach house at Illashe. Well I was wrong, it's a totally separate beach, a bit further, about 40 minutes by boat (might be shorter but it felt like ages!!).

So we get there and I realize, omg this is the real shit!! It's so insanely pretty! It's beyond amazing. It might be resort, it might not, I could care less, I was just super happy cause it was soooo pretty. Cabana's everywhere, bed type seats, food, pool, amazing looking beach, several floors did you hear FOOD etc.

Ejeme wanted to go see the beach so I went with her & took pictures. I cut my sandals walking in the sand so I also had to walk bear feet. OMG the sand was sooooo hot, and the weather was crazy hot, I ran back into shelter. Luckily I begged this server there to help me buy super glue :) and fixed it.

It was quite mellow at first, people were chilled out, so I took a bunch of pictures. Well 100+ pictures to be specific. I'm only gonna put half on the blog, and the other half in a different gallery :)

Well after all the pictures, Totally weird: like one minute everyone was seated and chilled in clicks of friends being all anti-social, then the next hour everyone was up dancing like it was spring break or Atlanta Freak Nik. It was soo crazy it was soo much fun. A big thanks should probably go to all the champagne, vodka, coffee patron etc. The grilled Chicken & the music got even more amazing. Then it started raining, and I mean pouring cats and dogs! so we did what normal people would do, we kept partying.

i'm tempted to go through youtube and learn how to AZONTO, I'm probably one of the few people in the country that can't fully do the azonto, and i need to hurry before the phase is over.

Oh gosh I'm just going to say it. I turned 27th!! WOW my number's running without me. I remember when I was younger I joking told people that if I turned 27 and I was still single, they had the permission to set me up with ANY GUY: short, tall, fat, skinny, cute, not cute and I would willingly go on the date.

I always said it jokingly knowing that there was no way on earth I'd be unmarried at 27, ha ha ha ha. So now I'm 27. 27 isn't really a desperate age so I'll have to retract that. New Statement: maybe if God forbid I'm single when I turn 34 (in 7 years) I'll take any date, I swear & promise! Considering now I'm 27, still never haven't ever had a boyfriend as we all know, though ive gone on dates... I hope the odds are in my favour. Well if I get to 29.5 I'll have to get proactive: fasting & praying, OH GOSH and i may have to reduce expectations???? OH HECK NO, can't go any lower I hope! Anyways enough about age, Nigerians make you feel super old, and want to keep rechecking & updating your biological clock to make sure it's functioning. *sigh*

I hadn't partied since February cause I gave up various stuff for lent like alcohol, parties etc. Friends though I was beyond boring, but I was perfectly fine staying home or going out and drinking water. Ejeme also hadn't gone partying since January. Well lent's over, Easter's passed. And we planned to over-party and over-rock that night which we did. NYSC Camp Diaries Week 3. (The day we collected our Allowee & CRAZY GIST)

Dec 1st: Week 3 (thursday)

Today is going to be the Mr NYSC & Ms NYSC pageant. Yesterday on wednesday we had Project fame/ Camp idol ( i skipped that).

My favorite part!!! Today they PAID us 19,800 naira Allowance or "Allowee" as some call it ($125)! woot woot!!! The N200 notes make it look huge! (fast forward to the future in real time right now NYSC hasnt paid us since last month, rumors are that they're having cash flow problems, I choose not to believe that and I am patiently waiting to receive my minimum wage of N19,800 from the government)

In line for our money: Geez they had "ghana must go" bags of money!!! (whats the real name of that bag??)

This is a pretty short line by NYSC standards

MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!! MONEY! MONEY! MONEY!!!!!!!! N19,800 or $124.94

they actually give you various allowances while on camp like N1,500 but... this is the big one :) who doesnt like free money no matter the amount?

Was super!!!! tempted to photoshop my picture, but the truth is, heaven help you if you look decent by week 3. I know people who marched under the hot sun, everyday for 3 weeks of camp, and I swear a year later it seems their tans never fully left. I also know people from different batches that got super sick; a lot of people get sick. So I cant complain if I look like this, especially with the heat.

PS: about my last post with manual village, my little sister can't wait to do it, hahahaha and a bunch of people commented asking how on earth people climbed such. To be honest I don't know, I was busy pretending to sign the "Book of life" with a different platoon and didn't wanna get caught (yup that was the picture I took under the canopy in the last post!). HAHA can u imagine me climbing that wall?? U would have to place an Hermes bag, juicy double quarter pounder with cheese burger & a Nigerian Single version of Boris kodjoe up there for me to climb it. Abeg!

Today a bunch of corper are leaving campus, they probably got exeats to go and deposit their cash so they don't "blow it" in mami market and to prevent it from getting stolen.

Grabbed a drink with some friends in Mami Market. Signed my book of life (the later the days passed, the less people in line). and faded with my money!

OMG LET ME GIST YOU!!!! Would you have sex in our gross camp?

*in my gossip voice* SO one faithful morning everyone was called downstairs to be punished. Yes punished!!! Those army people don't play, you better serve your punishment. Guess why!! They caught 3, not 3 people but 3 COUPLES having sex!!! in the courtyard!!! CRAZY HUH! CRAZY! apparently the guys escaped and the ladies were caught. I have no idea if these people knew each other before camp, if they were in 3 different corners, why the same day, and why on earth in the courtyard where both the guys & girls hostels could see them. Cant remember the time it happened like between 10pm - 5am, historical amnseia. But crazy! so everyone got punished. LMAO. typical nigerian school punishments, "Kneel down", "frog jump" etcThese apparently never ever happens, the authorities were furious! Other campers were like "gosh it's just 3 weeks, couldn't they wait just 3 weeks with sex" hahaha I guess not!

NEXT STOP: Graduation/ Passing out Ceremony and hello workforce. During these 3 weeks the government is deciding our primary place of employment and we'll find out on our passing out day.

CAMP DIARIES: DAY 2 - WEEK 2

So as most of you know I'm currently doing my National Youth Service NYSC. And being a great blogger I blogged about it & Ok soo I posted my camp diaries: Day 1 (Camp Diaries Day 1, 31 roommates post). Then being a bad blogger i didn't finish talking about the experience. Soooo..... Im here to tie loose ends since a lot of people have asked about it, and I feel guilty, like in relationships you gotta close old chapters to move forward right?

So now we've had a refresher :) Let's proceed to day 2. I took my cell phone, and actually typed my "camp diaries" in my memopad.

so lets go back in time to November 2010

IYANA IPAJA CAMP (lagos)

Week 1, DAY 2:

Whoops it rained today. lol that's what happens when you live in the tropics. I've given up and deleted my weather channel app, cause it definitely doesn't work for Nigeria. So far the itinerary has been wake up 4.30am, be ready 5am, bla bla bla (for those in camp who don't have an exeat, or those who get there 5am). I just want my uniform!

Crap, I finally got my uniform, but found a way to lose one leg of my white canvas. Great and unlike most people who get random sizes and have to try to trade with strangers for their right size, mine was my perfect size. Having big feet finally came in handy, I was able to get a new pair from a male friend in my group (the guy i used his stapler/ Eddie/ Endurance).

My roommates are really cool (well the 5 out of 31 that I spoke to). Actually I like most people I've spoken to. This feels like pledging a sorority/ fraternity... the process makes you click with a lot of people. flash forward: Im still friends with 3 of the girls from camp and super close to 1, I guess you can actually make friends in camp.

Week 2

People signed the book of life ( tip: the line is crazy long, you go platoon by platoon, people suffer to sign, even if your on exeat you better bring your butt to camp and sign, don't know why it's important, nor do I remember what's on it, but you sha have to sign it. I think later theyll print a book with our info, horrid passport pictures etc, but till then I honestly don't know. THE TIP: last day, passing out, book of life is still open, and there's no one in line, good luck sha if this changes, but if you were never in camp, lucky you)

Tobi, Tomi, Kemka

OH DEAR GOSH!! look at me in that shitty uniform! LOOK AT MY PANTS! DEAR GOSH!! Camp makes me look like a suffer head!!!!!! OMG!!!!!!!!! UGH!!! other pics are worse. I swore to bring my sexy camera for passing out/ grad day, so my REAL beauty can show. LOL.

My pants: Jumpay! Short! whatever you wanna call em. and the buttons wouldnt close well, geez talk about trying not to pull a britney. I had to buy some other pants with a zip. the material of the clothes they give us are beyond cheap. Some people never wash their cuz it shrinks, some buy the material from mami market and sew theirs.
