Earlier today I was going through a few blog posts on my main blog Extreme John.com when I came across a comment on one of my blog friendship chain posts, the comment was left by the blogger from My Baby Pet. Typically if someone leaves a comment on any of my blogs I will usually visit their blog in return and leave them a comment or at least see what their blog is about, it’s a big part of having a blog in my opinion networking is key.

Anyway, the first blog post I noticed was a Pet Friendship Chain post that was geared off of the friendship chain post I had made a few months back, I never even thought of a Pet Friendship Chain, but it’s a great idea! If you own a blog dedicated to English Bulldogs or a blog that features yours pets you need to get involved in the Pet Friendship chain, it’s a great way to network and more importantly increase your backlinks which can lead to improved Google PR rating and more search engine traffic.

As you know from time to time I will post pictures that are submitted by, well all of you! I always get excited when someone is nice enough to send in English bulldog pictures and English bulldog videos, as anyone that owns an English bulldog knows they all have different personalities and getting to see your bulldogs here is a blast.

My previous update featured pictures of Mustang an 18 month old English bulldog that was submitted by owner Natalie and previous to those cute pictures of Mustang, Linda was nice enough to submit pictures of Ozzie an English bulldog that she rescued from a local bulldog rescue. This update features a bulldog that my family knows very well, these pictures were sent in by James who was nice enough to adopt King Abe from us when Abe could no longer get along with Reagan, our male English bulldog (and Abes brother).

James was on the money when he figured I would like these pictures, he was nice enough to send over four different pictures of Abe doing various things, I decided to post these two first. The bulldog picture above features Abe enjoying a ride in the car, James and Abe spend a ton of time walking and going out on the town and the second picture is of Abe getting his sleep on, of course with a funny bulldog face.

I am loving all of the English bulldog pictures that I am starting to get from all of you this is great, I can never get enough of looking at bulldog pictures and especially videos, they always crack me up. I recently posted guest bulldog pictures of Ozzie, Linda was nice enough to send in the pictures of Ozzie a bulldog Linda and her husband(?) rescued from a local English bulldog rescue.

This week I opened up my email box and found yet another gift of pictures, this time we have pictures submitted by Natalie of her 18 month old English bulldog “Mustang”. Here is what Natalie had to say in her email that included the following two pictures of Mustang.

Mustang has a great stance as you can see by the picture above with his broad strong bulldog shoulders and the cute choppy lips, Mustang also has some very cute wrinkles when he is laid out, and I love his “What chu want?” look that he’s giving the camera.

I was going through a few of my videos when I came across this video of Kennedy our female English Bulldog, or better yet an introduction video of Kennedy when she was a puppy. As you can see in the video I try to keep things pretty calm and never really break from trying to introduce her, even though it might look like she is trying to take my head off.

Every pet needs some exercise and to be honest with you so do most humans, I really only say that to make myself feel better about not getting much exercise myself. Now when it comes to your English bulldog it is important to remember that he/she needs plenty of exercise, even if they look like they just swallowed the neighbors bulldog.

One of the most important things to remember as you plan to walk with your bulldog is to be prepared, you want to [intlink id="49" type="post"]avoid heat stroke[/intlink] which is something that is very common when you combine bulldogs and high temperatures.

Take a bottle of water with you and avoid going for walks that are too long or cause excessive panting, there are plenty of ways to exercise with your english bulldog that are safe and fun, all though as you can see taking your bulldogs for a walk gives you some great views.

Not many of you are probably aware of it but I picked up a new side job recently and man is it a friggin blast, part of my new weekly duties now include position of H.A.W, which stands for Head Ass Wiper. I know the terrible language I use here is way out of line when it comes to discussing English bulldogs, but let’s face it if you were wiping your English bulldogs butt weekly for free you wouldn’t be excited about it either.

My new position only includes the special attention for Kennedy our female bulldog who constantly has the famous English bulldog butt scratch going on, the first few times it was funny… it’s not funny any more.

I guess Kennedy has one of those lovely corkscrew tails that doesn’t allow for the free flow of everything that needs to exit a bulldogs butt, this is where the Pet Wipes that Lisa purchased a while back come in to play. After taking Kennedy to the vet over and over again to have her anal gland cleaned the doctor finally decided to break the news to us and let us know that Kennedy needed a good butt wiping every once and a while to clean around her corkscrew tail.

Now instead of dishing out cash constantly for anal gland cleanings I now wait for Kennedy to start bustin’ a move like she’s doing above, than I bust out the pet wipes and give it the once over. Cleaning Kennedy’s corkscrew tail might not be the most pleasant job in the world, but it’s clear that doing it makes her feel better not to mention if you don’t resolve the issue they can develop soars which will itch even more as they heal.

I know someone else out there that reads my English Bulldog blog has an English bulldog that has a corkscrew tail, take a moment to leave a comment and let us know how you handle the “itchy” situation. I have to admit that I was pleasently surprised when I jumped into the Bonehead Bulldogs email account and actually found a few emails with pictures that some of you were nice enough to email in. To be completley honest I really didn’t expect to see any user submitted English Bulldog pictures or videos for a long time, with that said THANK YOU for making my day!

Now the first email I received was from Linda who was nice enough to send in a link to her website “Random Thoughts of a Bulldog” where she features her English Bulldog “Ozzie”, Linda included the following message in her email.

I found your site while searching through Digg.com.  We just recently adopted an English Bulldog through a local Bulldog Rescue.  His name is Ozzie and he just turned 2 years last week!  He has inspired me to start a blog featuring him.  Please check it out!  I would like you to link up my site to Bonehead!
He is our first Bulldog and we just love him to pieces! Yes we are now hooked on Bulldogs and will probably never have any other breed.

It’s time for another wordless Wednesday around the internet and here in puppy land, or the land we consider English Bulldog land. English Bulldogs are very sensitive to suffering from heat stroke and even death from of exposure to high temperatures in the summer time, keeping your English Bulldog in temperatures above 90 degrees is very dangerous and should be avoided.

In the event that you will have your English Bulldog out in the heat it is important to provide them with shade as well as unlimited amounts of fresh water to drink, and it is also recommended that you continuously cool your bulldog down with water.

Every Bulldog owner understands the excitement of wanting to keep your bulldog with you at all times, however it is more important for the health of your bullie friend that you make safe decisions for both of you.

Warning signs that your English Bulldog is having a heat stroke:

• Vomiting
• Diarrhea
• Muscle Cramping and Shaking
• Weakness and Blank Dazed expression
• Collapse leading up to death
