DIY Flower Crown

Summer is fast approaching (despite the snow) and one of the hottest trends for the past few years are flower crowns. Usually worn in the festival scene but not limited to. Here is a quick an easy way to make a flower crown this Summer!

You will need: False flowers (dealz €1.50, Henry Street), A head band (The one I used us a flat clear one I got in Beads and Bling for €1.75. You can get cheaper ones just make sure they are not thin and rounded as this will make it difficult to stick your flowers on.), Glue, Scissors and then Rhinestones, Sequins, Beads etc to decorate.

Next you will need to remove the plastic parts of your flowers. This makes them easier to stick.

Then you will have seperated layers of petals like so.

Layer them on top of each other and pierce them with a flat backed stud like so.

If you dont have studs like this you can use toothed studs like these or glue the petals together seperatly and fix with a gem, sequin, button or anything you like. Just use plenty of glue.

Glue your first flower to the band buy the back of the flat stud and some surrounding fabric. Balance it against something and allow to dry before proceeding to the next flower.

Repeat until all flowers are glued.

Now you have a natural looking flower crown. You can stop here if you choose.

I however am a glits monster and have to make everything shiny. I merely glued rhinestones onto the petals of the flowers, again one flower at a time and leaving it to dry.

Just had a brief encounter in the hospital. Nothing major. Hence no tutorials!

My first successful bake!

I try to bake. A lot. But I never get a good result. Cupcakes that taste like fish bread (yeh that happenned) and I burn EVERYTHING!

Today I successfully baked ALL BY MYSELF and they turned out edible!

The trick is to watch them and check on them regularly and not ignore them and go watch Come dine with me. who knew?

So the other night I wore a red dress and people kept commenting "Oh you look really nice! Usually Red heads cant wear red!"

This is me in my red dress and red hair!

So I compiled a gallery of other red heads in red.

Custom Phone Case

You will need: a phone case, all purpose glue, pliars, studs, rhinestones and anything else you want to decorate the case with (make sure it is flat backed)

I had to use a liars to turn in the spokes on my studs as they are designed to pierce into clothes.

So they are folded into themselves like so.

Then just start gluing on your studs and gems. These studs are from Euro2 which are all over the country and they come with glue on the backs. Packets are €1.

The studs are studs taken out of an old belt.

And voila!

DIY Earmuffs from a slipper!

You will need: An old slipper (clean), A hair band, fluff, scissors, glue and decoration if you like.

Cut your fabroc so that it is flat (ie not a slipper). Draw 4 circles on your fabric. I used a Nutella lid... mmm.

Also cut off the fur trin from the top of your boot.

Here is what you should have.

Glue 3/4 of your circles edge and place 2 circles together. Repeat with the last 2 circle.

You should have 2 circles like this, like pouches.

Stuff your pouches with fluff. (I got my fluff from an old teddy bear. R.I.P. Hansel)

Cover the end of your hair band in glue and insert into the pouch. Glue up the open part.

Here I glued the fur from the rim of my boot to the band.

Let stand to dry. Before completely dry put on your muffs and make sure they cover your ears. Don't do this until muffs are semi dry or you'll get glue in your hair.

Decorate how you wish, I decorated mine with these bows from Mei Flower.

Leave to dry and wear!

Look at me! I'm feckin delighted with my new muffs!

(So much innuendo in this piece)

DIY Charm Bracelet/ Matching up Brass.

So I found these beautiful brass charms in a little bead shop beside Georges Street Arcade, Dublin.

They were only 50c each and Iv always wanted a charm bracelet about my love of dress making!

But I couldnt find a brace link bracelet :( I could only find gold, silver and bronze. The brass ones I did find were too green looking and none matched the charms.

So I teamed the charms with a blue leather strap necklace and folded it over.

To make this! It's so cute! I was making it as a temporary measure but I might keep my charms on this blue band.

DIY Candy Bouquet

You will need: A bucket (mine is a santa bucket because it's CHRISTMAS!!!), foam block, bars, sweets and lollipops, electrical tape...

And skewers!

Cut your foam block to size and place in the bucket.

Attatch all candy to your skewers with electrical tape...

... and stick into the foam.

Heres what it looks like from the back, naht very pretty. OH well.

And the final product! IT LOOKS LIKE FLOWERS!!!

So there you have it! DIY candy bouquet! Enjoy!

River Island Eyelashes Knock Offs

So I saw these eyelashes in River Island and thought they were fab!

Until I checked the price tag. €14 for eyelashes? I dont know about normal people but my lashes usually last half the night and end up being peeled off and either thrown on the dance floor or stuck to my past out mate.

So here is how to make your own. Mine cost me €1.50

You will need: Eyelashes (mine are from Pennys), glue, glitter stars (I found these in Dealz in a glitter set, Im sure they have them in craft shops and other €stores) and a tweezers depending on your level of patience.

1. Initially I tried to attatch each star individually with the tweezers, I lost my patience and gave up.

So the real steps:

1. cover the lashes in glue, do not put glue up near the line of where the lashes stick to your lid (like I did, because of this the lashes wouldnt stick and I had to remove stars from the rim)

2. Scatter the stars on a surface and mop them up using the eyelashs.

3. Leave to dry.

Here is the end result.

These lashes have stars too close to the lid. I had to remove stars from the lid so that the lashes would stick.

They worked really well once I fixed them and were so flamboyant!

And best of all cost €1.50 to make.

A/W 2012 Trend 2: Collars

You will need: An old ugly shirt (sorry Mom), scissors, pliers, a button and studs. I got these studs from an old belt. You can buy them only or take them off an old piece of clothing. They are very difficult to find at good value in Irish shops.

It's very simple, stick the studs in the collar and close using a pliers.

I didn't like the generic white plastic button that comes with most shirts so I rummaged in my collection for a nicer one.

Make sure the button fits through the hole... Of coarse I didn't and had to start again.

Autumnal Trend 1: DIY Glitter Heels

Glitter heels are a fall staple this year, seen on the catwalk and high street, there's no escaping it!

Personally I'm thrilled. I love sparkly things, especially coming up to Christmas!

So here is how to make your own sparkle heels if you don't fancy fishing out for Miu Miu's.

You will need:

Heels, glue (I used fabric glue as my heels have a suede finish) and glitter.

Mix together your glue and glitter to make a paste.

Then brush it on your heels with a paint brush. try and make it as even as possible. Thin layers are recommended as if it clumps together too much it looks messy.

Don't worry, the glue dries clear!

Allow the heel to dry before applying your second layer.

You will need about 3 layers all together.

Voila! It dries clear! YAY!
Tidy up the edges with the edge of a knife or something thatl scrape away the stray glue and glitter.
In hind sight I should have used tape to mark it off.
OH WELL.

Lego Jewlery DIY

Here are some earrings and a bracelet I made from lego pieces. I have rings to make too but I ran out of super glue. Basically super glue a 2x2 piece to a ring base.

You will need: Lego piece. Use cheap ones from a euro store. These have thinner plastic. You will not be able to pierce through real lego pieces. Alighter, A large needle or safety pin, pliers, earring hooks and jump rings.

By being super careful and not suing me, use the lighter to heat the needle. when needle is hot enough pierce a hole in your lego piece near the edge.

Using your pliers, open an earring hook, thread it through the hole and close the catch.

For the bracelet, thread jump rigs through and link them up. At the end add a clasp.

Hallween Candy Necklace DIY

As a kid the best part of Halloween is going house to house trick or treating. CANDY! so heres a little tutorial on an idea I had to make candy necklaces. I'm sure they would be a big hit with trick or treaters and cost very little to make. all you need is time.

Gather your supplies: Candy, in this photo there are ribbons but i preferred how the chains looked with pipe cleaners, and reinforcement labels.

Punch a hole ineach side of the wrapper and reinforce with a ring label.

Twist an extra long pipecleaner like so or get 2 red and 2 blue and join them together by twisting the ends together.

Thread the candy through and you have your necklaces! I also threaded on beads.

Glitter Masks DIY

I love masquerade masks but they are so expensive to buy and the cheap ones look... well... cheap.

I found these mask templates in Mr.Price in the Blanchards Town shopping centre for only 79c.

they are sturdy heavy duty masks with elastic and all!

Bargain!

Then all you need is glitter, feathers and any other sory of decoration you like, some glue and a small brush to spread the glue

Cover the mask in glue where you want your first glitter colour to go. Then cover in glitter.

Do this on paper or a lid as glitter goes everywhere and you can save most of it this way and reuse it.

Do the same with the pink glitter on the ears and nose. These have to be a bit more tidy than the base colour. Im a mess so it's not tidy at all.

Look at me! I'm a cat!

To me it didnt really look like a cat so I gave him so whiskers and some flashy eyes!

To make the whiskers I used copper wire which is about €8 in beads and bling Dublin. Dont go buying it just for this project. Use something else like pipe-cleaners or something.

Get a big dress makers pin or something sharp and pierce 4 holes in the mask.

Thread the wire through and tape the back with electrical tape to hold in place.

I also added some fake eyelashes. These I got in pennies for €1.50. I had actually worn them on a night out previous (ewww) and didnt lose them. SUCCESS!

I lined the eyes with black paint.

wear this mask with heavy black eye makeup underneath so that your eyes pop from behind the mask. Here I have no make up on and my eyes are lost.

This is the other mask I bought.

I glued on feathers and glitter and sequins.

And here is is!

So don't spend a bomb on a masquerade mask this Halloween. Make one yourself! Head to Blanchards town Shopping center and buy some supplies! These cost approx. €3 to make. Probably less.

Inner termoil and a craftsters morality.

Howdy Yall,

So last night I started fiddling around with craft wire and tried to make my own version of those lovely birds nest rings I see on etsy all the time. I purposely didnt look up a tutorial as I hope to sell them in local craft fairs. So I messed about, got a half decent result and now am making them in their dozens!

Thats the first three I made and I'm pretty happy as to how they turnned out. I researched prices on etsy.com and the average price they sell for is €15... I dont think I can exploit people like that. They cost less than €2 to make! But I dont want to undermine the integrity of my fellow craftsters.

Oh, what to do?

Last minute/ Drunk Batman mask

It's almost Halloween!

I love Halloween but some people do not share my enthusiasm and dont start planning and gathering their material for their costume early May. Infact most leave it to the last minute and some dont dress up at all (GASP!) because they ran out of time.

FEAR NOT! Here is a tutorial for those of you running out of the house to Coppers and forgot that Halloween is fancy dress.

Step 1: Get Drunk.

In the true spirit of Halloween I had a few vinos before starting this tutorial.

Step 2: Gather your materials.

You will need; Cardboard, glue, scissors, black fabric and ribbon. Or anything to tie the mask (shoelaces?)

Step 3: Make a drunken attempt at a template

This is literally how rough an image I used.

Step 4: Cut out the cardboard template, cover in glue, place the ribbons at the edges and then place your black fabric on top of the gluey cardboard and ribbon edges.

Step 5: wait for the glue to dry and have another drink.

Step 6. Cut off excess material.

Step 7: Put on your mask paired with a batman tshirt or a plain black one and you are ready for Coppers! Half hammered and dressed up. No dry shite taunts this year!

Then if a girl doesnt steal it or you dont break it trying to tie it around your waist using your cock as a nose, give it to your younger sibling.

*Be careful when drunk and using scissors.

* No children were forced into underage drinking or going to Coppers for the sake of this tutorial.

Fabric Markers are key!

Here is my review on the fabric markers you can buy in TopShop for €10.

I bought a plain white polyester and cotton tank top and some plain white shoes in Pennys. The top was €3 and the shoes were €4.

It was very difficult writing on the top. I had to stretch it out as far as I could which made the top all stretched looking. The markers bled into each other and it didnt look very good (as you can see).

However, they worked wonderfully on the shoes! The shoes were canvas and a harder fabric and were really easy to draw on.

People stop me in the street and ask me where I bought them and never believe I was bored on the bus and just started doodling.

So with these markers, and any other markers, I'd suggest sticking to things like shoes, bags, maybe blazers? Things of thicker fabric. Im going to test out bed sheets next once I redecorate my room!

These markers are available from most Topshop stores and are only €10. A great investment!

Even if just to keep yourself occupied on long bus journeys :)

The Big Knit! Innocent and AgeAction

Innocent and Age Action have come together to help elderly people stay well and warm this winter.

For all bottles with a hat that is sold, Innocent donate 25c to Age Action.

So get knitting! Hats must be in before Nov 30th.
