The melt is on in Winnipeg, Manitoba.  So I ventured out a bit further North to see how the beaches are doing.  I had a lovely walk at Winnipeg Beach and a nice view of Lake Winnipeg; slowly coming back to life after a long winter's rest.

I enjoyed photographing pelicans over the past few years.  Spring,  summer, or fall it provided hours of enjoyment. Watching them shoreside in various Manitoba locations was a real treat.  This pair was short with my Sigma 150-600mm Contemporary. One of my favorite shots from 2021! (click to enlarge)

The snow has finally yielded and the rain begins to wash the streets of winter's debris.  I love the quiet that comes with a late-night photo shoot.

The Floodway is one of my favorite places to park and take in some waterfowl.  A nice little fishing and picnic area as well, when you just want to escape the noise of the city.

We were lucky to have a quick getaway to the Whiteshell recently.  This curious visitor stopped by the shoreline to dine on some fish flies and test the limitations of my dog's leash. The Male Yellow-headed Blackbird. Much more vibrant than their female counterpart as is often the case.  They have white under their wings and are said to be territorial which explains his fascination

Been a while since I got the urge to head out with my camera.  Early morning is a great time to catch animals and insects out and about, feeding and grooming.  I am using a high zoom point and shoot camera for these pictures; I was pretty pleased with the results.
