It's no secret that the Perth Fashion Festival is one of my favourite events of the year. Photographing the collections and previewing Perth's Fashion scene is a privilege I look forward to for months before the festival! I always seem to walk away though with 5 memory cards full of runway photos and no photos of me! These pictures were taken by L of Peanut Moonbeam Knickers throughout the festival. She even got a snap of my Ellery pumps which I almost broke my neck in on the cobbled paths of Northbridge... all part of the PFF charm!

BREAKFAST WITH BLONDE SUBURBIA

This morning I started the day with eggs, toast, avocado and Blonde Suburbia! Total babe Kim and I headed to The Secret Garden Cafe on Murray street to talk blogs (and indulge our breakfast cravings of course). I also got to show off my new hair... it came out a little bit more purple than I was expecting but I definitely needed a change!

The Secret Garden Cafe is gorgeous and catching up with Kim again was deeeeeelightful. We stopped in at Sass and Bide and Kookai after brekkie for some sneaky sale shopping too - the perfect start to the day!

UNDERWATER

I had a semi-shitty start to the week this week, but in true turning-lemons-into-lemonade-style I decided to head to Hillarys today with my cousins for a day of Aqwa and ice cream! The photo of my little cousin Lily and I was taken just as a huge shark swam right over the top of us... we were a little surprised!

A MAKEOVER AT LAFOI BOUTIQUE

Yesterday I popped into Betty Sugar's Carillion City boutique for a mini makeover! Betty did my makeup in-store using Savoir Faire products (which are stocked at LaFoi) and treated me to the five star customer service that shoppers can expect from the boutique.

SHOPPING WITH DEMPSEY STEWART

What could be better than going shopping with a fashion expert? Dempsey Stewart has worn Louis Vuitton, Chloe, Marc Jacobs, Vivienne Westwood and pretty much every other label you can think of, so when it comes to clothes - she knows her stuff! Searching for the perfect casual shorts and nude-coloured heels today, we ended up in Leederville - scouring the racks of Atlas Divine, Harry and Gretel and Varga Girl.

Dempsey walked away with a pair of Ksubi denim cut-offs and killer heels! With the thrill of a successful shopping trip, we spent the rest of the afternoon wandering down Oxford street admiring street art and fashion!

One of the best things about Perth, and Australia, are the beaches. We are so lucky to have some of the most beautiful beaches right on our doorsteps! Taking full advantage of that this week, we packed up our pooch and headed two hours down south for some camping, swimming, kayaking and scuba diving with our friends!

There is nothing quite like watching the sun set over the beach with a strawberry cider in your hand...

AN AUSSIE CHRISTMAS

Christmas is verrrrry different in Australia compared to the powdered snow and winter chill of the traditional 'white Christmas'. Our day was spent eating way too much food, with a brief stop at the beach to try and escape the scorching heat. Dempsey is home for Christmas this year so we had a great day drinking frozen cocktails and catching up.

I'm enjoying this break so much already, I hope you are all relaxing and enjoying the holidays! Thank you all so much for supporting the blog throughout the year, I am lucky to have such amazing readers. Merry Christmas to all of you!

Each year Christmas itself seems to get more chilled while the lead up to Christmas gets more hectic! Work parties, present buying, cooking and family in town makes for a pretty busy couple of weeks! This year Dempsey is home and I am so excited for Christmas.

Demps and I went last minute present buying in Fremantle last night, complete with beers at Little Creatures and giant cones of ice cream! ...of course I forgot my camera!!

With sites like Pinterest and countless blogs on the Internet, my laptop tends to be my inspiration control centre. While it is convenient and personal, there is no substitute for print media. Lately I have been gathering all the magazines that inspire me such as Stray and Fallen, and have been critically evaluating what it is about them that draws me in. Many nights have been spent with magazine on lap and style reference book in hand!

With exciting projects coming up in the (hopefully) not too distant future, there is a lot to think about! Watch this space!!

RACEWEAR: SUNSHINE AND DAYDREAMS

When I stumbled upon Melbourne based demi-couture label Sunshine and Daydreams, I just had to have one of these beautiful hand made head-pieces! It arrived beautifully packaged and even more lovely than I had imagined. Although Melbourne cup has been and gone, the biggest racing day of the year is still to come in Perth. Perth cup is happening on New Years Eve this year and is a great excuse to make a day of it!

One of my biggest (fashion) problems is that I am useless with my hair, which means that I can never find a nice way to wear clip-in fascinators. These head-pieces are perfect because they simultaneously style your hair and add that extra special something. It's safe to say I'm in love!

It seemed fitting to photography my new head-piece with my partner in crime and namesake Bonnie! She had a foal two weeks ago, but never turns down a modelling job!

Perth's newest retail gem officially opened last night with an invite only launch party hosted by Perth Fashion Festival. The store has taken the place of the Spring Boutique pop up shop in Carillion City, with a modern face lift and an edgy feel. Perth Interior design students completed the entire fit out including a custom shop counter which is simply amazing! Hatch is worth visiting for anyone who is looking for great locally-made pieces or is simply interested in DIY interior design!

Fashion editor of the STM, Claire Davies, made a sneaky purchase on the night!

Karen Cheng and Pippa McManus made an appearance - Pippa's amazing fashion illustrations are on sale in store at Hatch!

Live modelling in the shop window gave guests an insight into how to style the pieces in store.

Lydia and Lara, designers behind emerging WA label Zhivago celebrated the opening of the store which is peppered with Zhivago's edgy yet elegant pieces.

Hatch stocks clothing from labels Little Gracie, Butcher and the Crow, Catini, Zsadar, Zhivago and Danielle Caputi among others, as well as accessories by labels such as Sewellery and Generics, and even original fashion illustrations by the lovely Pippa Mcmanus! Every label is WA based and those listed are only the tip of the iceberg!

Run by PFF in conjunction with Carillion City, Hatch is more than just a trendy store stocking lust-worthy fashion - it's a head start for so many WA creatives who have put so much time and effort into producing unique and local fashion. Many pieces in store have been hand made by the designer and represent hours and hours of hard work! I couldn't be more proud of Perth for providing such a great outlet for these designers to stock their pieces - and right in the heart of the CBD!

If you get a chance to head down to Hatch, I would definitely recommend it.

URBAN OUTFITTERS - IT'S LIKE SHOPPING INSIDE THE INTERNET!

I have a slightly embarrassing confession to make... until my trip to New York, I always thought that Urban Outfitters was exclusively an online store - like Asos. So you can imagine my surprise when I stumbled upon the three storey mega store on 5th Avenue! It genuinely felt like I was walking around the virtual shopping isles of the Internet, stocking up my cart...

I ended up buying a Cheap Monday rain jacket, MiniMarket dress and recycled vintage Levis shorts! I went straight back to the hotel, changed into my new Minimarket dress and headed off to Anna Sheffield's studio (go, go, go!).

I'm absolutely obsessed with the latest campaign and collection from ELLERY! There is not a single piece that I am not coveting! The print these season is French Renaissance meets alternative chic and is the perfect juxtaposition between classic style and modern tailoring. My favourite piece is definitely the leather belt and structured top with feature pockets - simple amazing!

One of the downsides of loving photography is that I never seem to get any photos of myself - I'm always too busy photographing everyone else! Luckily, going to New York with seven other Fashion Bloggers meant there was no end of photos! So here's a little glimpse of NYFW from somebody else's perspective... it has made me realise how often I drink coffee and check my phone... too much?

SHOPPING IN PERTH THIS WEEK...

The opening of two exciting new stores in Perth this week has broadened the horizons of Perth retail. Hatch, a PFF initiative, officially opened yesterday in Carillion City and stocks some of Perth's best independent designers. On top of this, MyCatwalk.com has opened a physical stand-alone boutique in Cottesloe. The store will feature pieces from Australian designers as well as coveted international labels such as Theyskens' Theory and Acne!

Hatch is set to become the Mecca of WA fashion, providing a retail outlet for independent labels such as Little Gracie, Zhivago, Zsadar, Tindale, Daniella Caputi, Ange Lang and many more.

The MyCatwalk.com boutique allows shoppers to transcend the online shopping cart - with the ability to browse in person and try clothing on!

There are a couple of special shopping events going on in Perth this week as well. Betty Sugar is hosting a fundraising shopping night at her Carillion City pop-up shop. The event raises money for the Breast Cancer Foundation, and information can be found HERE.

Amazing WA jewelery label Totomoto is also hosting an event on the 8th of December, where shoppers can enjoy a drink while they meet the designer and shop the new season collection! More details about this event can be found HERE.
