Not all beers are created equal... Or are they?

When you try that new beer at your local bar or that new restaurant where you're having dinner, do you really know what's in that can or bottle? If you say yes, you are way ahead of most of us. Is it an IPA, a Lager, or an Ale? How much alcohol does it have in it? I for one, need some help in this area. "I Drank What?" is the answer to my prayers, and maybe yours too. Simply type in the partial or full name of the beer you want to try, click on the Find It button, and you will be presented with a list of beers that meet your search criteria. If you like what you see, and decide to try this new beverage, there is an option to tell the world about your new conquest. It couldn't get much easier or better than that.

Oh wait! It can get better than that. "I Drank What?" also comes with a Tipping module so that when you're are done eating and drinking, you can easily calculate a fair tip for your amazing waiter or waitress. A simple tap of the appropriate button, and viola, your tip is calculated at the percentage you selected. Don't like the percentage you picked? No problem. Just choose another percentage and the new tip amount is automatically updated. Click on the "Tipsy Waiter" button, and your tip will be rounded up, click again and it will be rounded down, and click one more time and it will be returned to where you started. No muss, no fuss. You don't have to worry if you calculated correctly. You can even customize the label on the button that gives the biggest tip to what ever you want. For example, if you know the waitress that always gives you excellent service is named Mary, then you can change the label from the default of WOW, to "MARY". How cool is that. You can also change it to the battle cry of your favorite sports team. I am a die hard Ohio State Buckeye fan, so I customized mine to say "Go Buckeyes!".

This app is free and is only available for Android at this time. Check it out in the Google Play Store. I think you'll be glad you did. Don't forget to read your fortune when you're done tipping!

Make it Personal! Its time for Cancer to go...

Last week, my wonderful sister-in-law, Pat Muncy, went to be with our Lord after a long and difficult battle with cancer. Pat was first diagnosed with breast cancer nearly 20 years ago. Treatments drove the disease into remission, but it returned years later in the form of bone cancer. Again, treatments pushed the disease into remission, only for it to return once again last year. This last time, the cancer finally overwhelmed her, and she was no longer able to continue in this world.

Although she was never really free from the disease since she was first diagnosed, Pat was the most positive and uplifting person I have ever known. Pat and her husband Jimmy, have been active participants in the Susan G Komen Ride For The Cure in Virginia for the past several years. Too many of us have lost loved ones to this dreaded disease. In today's world, it seems like every time we turn around, someone has their hand out wanting a donation for something. I usually am not one to solicit donations, but this time it's different. It's personal! Let's end this disease.

Jimmy will be riding without Pat by his side this year, but she will be with him in spirit and smiling down at him from above. Help him make a difference and donate to this worthy cause. Nike Fuel Band - The Power of Persuasion!

Back in August I purchased a Nike Fuel Band after several months of trying to convince myself that it was worth the $150 Nike was charging for it. Actually, I didn't purchase it, but received it from my wife as a birthday gift. I think she was tired of my indecisiveness and decided she would end my misery. So here I am nearly six months later, and 40 pounds lighter. I can't say that the Fuel Band is 100% responsible for my weight loss, but I can tell you that it certainly was a major factor.

If you don't know what a Nike Fuel Band is, it is a sharp looking band that you wear around your wrist the same as you would wear one of those yellow Livestrong bands. The difference is that this one is stylish and does something other than promote your support for a very good cause. The band contains an accelerometer that is synced up with some fancy algorithms that track your movements during the day. Not just how many steps, but the types of movements, the speed of your movements, etc., etc. Your movements are converted to a measure called Nike Fuel points. If you and I both have Fuel Bands, a point that you earn and a point that I earn, will take us both an equal amount of effort. With that being said, if you have a Nike Fuel Band, you can compete against anyone else that has a Nike Fuel band via social media. You can also compete against yourself. You set a goal for yourself that the Fuel Band keeps track of for you. It also keeps track of the points you have earned for the day, the steps you have taken, the calories you have burned, and if you don't care about anything else, it displays the time. The display is LED and is quite sharp.

Here is the rub. If you choose to purchase one of these nifty gadgets, and you are the least bit competitive, you will find yourself doing jumping jacks in your bedroom 10 minutes before bedtime because you are a mere 250 points shy of your goal. There is software you can install on your IPad or IPhone that will sync via bluetooth and keep track of your progress throughout the day. There isn't an Android app yet, but there are promises that one is coming soon. If you meet your goal, you receive awards in the form of a crazy looking character jumping around on your screen in a congratulatory dance.

I have earned 376,547 Nike Fuel points since I got my present. Today I have 2,138 point towards my 3,000 point goal.

I am obsessed with earning points and the reward is it helping me drop pounds. My calculations tell me that my weight loss cost me about $3.75 per pound. Ummmmmmm, I mean it cost my wife. Visit Nike to get your band today. Now, where's that jump rope?

If you use Evernote, you know how powerful it is in capturing everything. Now you can add one more thing to its repertoire. If you use the Android app, "Is Here", you can send locations to your Evernote account for future reference. Simply enter your Evernote email address as the shared preference for your Bcc email address in the "Is Here" app, and that location will automatically go to your Evernote account for safe keeping anytime you do a send. If you set up a new folder called "GPS" in Evernote, your emails will automatically be dropped into that folder. No muss, no fuss. When you go to your "GPS" folder, you can click on the locations you have stored by description. Inside of the note, you will find a link to Google Maps that will bring up the stored location in a map. You can then select "get directions" from the Google application and by right clicking on the location you want to get directions to, the software will give you directions back to your saved location. Reasons to fly on Southwest Airlines

I have to admit, I am a Southwest warrior. I fly Southwest every chance I get even though I could choose from many other airlines. Why am I loyal to Southwest? That's easy! They get it! First of all, they are not in your pocket every time they get a chance. You pay for your ticket and then if you have to change, they don't charge you a fee. Depending on the type of ticket you buy, you might not get your money back, but you can apply your fare to a future flight. My travel plans change from time to time, and because they allow me to make changes, I always look at Southwest first. Second on my list is that they don't stick it to you when you have bags to check. Makes sense to me. When you travel, what difference does it make if the bag you take with you ends up under the plane rather than up above your seat? I'm guessing not much. Why jack your customer around by advertising a good price only to smack them with a few more bucks to bring their bags along? A smart traveler won't stand for this type of shenanigans for very long. With Southwest, there are no sneak attacks. Finally, I fly Southwest because the make flying fun. They make jokes and they always find a way to make you smile. Its bad enough to have to spend your travel time jammed into a sardine can, yet alone have to spend it with a bunch of fuddy duddy's. If you fly Southwest, check your bags, but don't check your sense of humor. You'll need it. So what are you waiting on? Book your next trip on Southwest and Get Your A on!

Today there is a hole in the world of technology. Steve Jobs left this world yesterday for a better place. He also left this world a better place. As I drove to work this morning, while stopped at a traffic light at a busy intersection, I thought how he had probably had an impact on every person in my line of site in some way shape or form. What would our world be like today if he had never been born? I can assure you that it would be vastly different than it is today. May your family find comfort in knowing you are now heaven's chief visionary and free from pain. RIP Steve Jobs!

I've seen lots of posts on how to best use Evernote, but here is one that will make you more productive, save you gas, and keep you out of trouble with your spouse. Who wouldn't want those things? Here is what you need to do. First, create a new notebook in your Evernote account and call it @Shopping. Then select the share button and share your newly created notebook with your spouse. Now you will need to add a new note to your @Shopping notebook and call it Grocery List. Insert a checkbox and enter an item next to the checkbox that you need to get at the grocery. As you think of other items add more checkboxes with the additional items next to them. Have your spouse do the same as he or she thinks of items that you need from the grocery the next time you are there. Finally, when you actually go to the grocery, access Evernote using your smart phone. I personally have the Droid 2 and use the Evernote for Android app. Pull up your Grocery List note, and begin picking off the things that are on your list. As you put them in your cart, just check them off. You will get everything that you listed as well as the things that your spouse listed. Above all, you won't forget the milk.

There you have it. I told you it was simple. Now add a couple of other shopping lists as notes to your @Shopping notebook, and you'll always be prepared when you are our an about. If it happens to be your spouse that is out and about, they can access the appropriate list from the shared folder and pick up a few things as well. When Evernote syncs both of you will be able to see what the other has picked up at the store because all of the items that were purchased will have their checkbox checked.

A quick Google search on the keyword Evernote will return thousands of ideas on how to use this powerful software. They are all great ideas and if you are not careful you can quickly lose your way. Start simple. Setup the following 3 folders:

@Inbox
@Reference
@Journal

Use @Inbox as your default folder. Everything you capture should drop into the default folder first. After you review what is in @Inbox, move it to the @Reference folder. This will be where you will store everything that you might need in the future. Evernote has a powerful search tool that will allow you to find things quickly in your @Reference folder.

Finally, in your @Journal folder create one note and label it Journal. Inside of your one note, space down a couple of rows and enter the current days date. This is where you are going to keep all of your notes for the day. At the end of the day, you are going to insert a horizontal line above the current date. Evernote has a shortcut to enter the horizontal line, CTRL H. The next day you will put the new date above the horizontal line and capture your notes for the day in the white space below the date. Each day you should repeat this process. What you will end up with will be a running journal of all of your daily notes with the most recent day at the top. It is a great tool to go back and write monthly reports from or to use for a review of what work you have been focusing on. Your journal will look something like this:
