“Do you deliver to my area?”
Once you enter your zip code, www.bookadumpster.com will instantly search for all the haulers that are set up to service your zip code. If there are no haulers servicing your area the website will notify you of this by displaying the following message under the zip code search box - “Please check back at a later date. We are currently signing up haulers to service this area” if there are haulers that do service your area, you will be asked which Waste Type you require and the process will continue from here.

“Can I get a dumpster for today?”
Due to high demand created by bookadumpster customers our haulers are always busy, meaning they may not be in the office at all times. Because the order is received instantly via email, the haulers need a little notice of your order. You are able to order for next day delivery up until 11pm the night before, but currently we are unable to process same day deliveries.

“Who is my hauler?”
Once your credit card payment is accepted and your order is processed you will be emailed an invoice which will outline your haulers name and contact details.

“Do I have to be at home when the dumpster is delivered?”
No, as long as when you place your order you make note of this in the delivery instruction note, also record a cell phone number for the day of delivery so if the hauler needs to contact you they are able to. Once your credit card payment is accepted and your order is processed you will be emailed an invoice which will outline your haulers name and contact details, we also suggest you call them directly prior to delivery to let them know if you won’t be home.

What is Household Debris?
Light comingle waste from a house hold cleanup. DO NOT PUT: Bricks, concrete, food waste, asbestos, hazardous waste, chemicals, insulation materials, liquids, gas bottles, tires, mattresses, computer monitors or hard drives, or any electrical equipment with plugs.

What is Clean Construction Debris?
Wood, Plaster, Insulation, Styrofoam, Tiles, Shingle, Ceramic Goods, Sheet Rock/Drywall.

What is Clean Concrete?
Concrete ONLY. DO NOT PUT: Anything other than clean concrete in this receptacle. NO bricks, asphalt or ceramics.

What is Stump and Brush?
Tree stumps and branches.

What can I put in my dumpster?
Dumpsters can be used for general waste which is typically anything involved with a general cleanup around the house and property that is neither liquid nor of a hazardous nature.

What can’t go in the dumpster?
Hazardous waste cannot be placed in the dumpster. This includes TV’s, monitors, fridges, paints, solvents, liquids or any asbestos. To dispose of any of these materials you need to contact your local government. They will be able to provide you with a contact who can dispose of anything hazardous or not accepted in your dumpster (i.e. food waste).

How high can I fill the dumpster?
Dumpsters can be filled level to the top, except for the Clean Concrete waste type. This dumpster must not be filled any further than half way due to weight restrictions. (Haulers face prosecution for unsafe or overweight loads).

What if I have two different waste types? Can I mix them?
The only dumpster in which you may mix more than one waste type is the Household Debris dumpster. If you are placing heavy waste in this dumpster there is a weight limit of 250 pounds per 1 cubic yard so you may be charged an extra weight fee if you fill over and above this limit. It is suggested that you order a small dumpster for each waste type you are disposing of rather than just one large one.

A question that has arisen a lot lately is, “Is there a price difference between having the dumpster for a few days to having the dumpster for a week or longer?”.   Answer: Yes.  We allow all our haulers to set their own prices, including the number of rental days allowed for that price.  Once the number of days has been exceeded, there will be an additional daily rental fee calculated into the price. The best way to determine the price differences is to play around with the dates during the booking process.

Another popular question is, “What are the dimensions of the dumpsters?”.  Answer: As we are agents who work on behalf of many different haulers, who all have different dimensions, we are unable to give you the exact dimensions of the dumpster. We do advise holding the curser over the dumpster sizes during the booking process for an indicative idea only.

The National Recycling Coalition predicted that 500 million computers were obsolete by 2007. In Massachusetts alone, 25,000 tons of computers are being disposed, recycled, or placed in storage per year. CRT monitors and TVs contain an average of 4 pounds of lead each. Excessive lead and other toxins pose a problem in landfills because they can leach into groundwater. In combustors, the lead winds up in the ash residue, which is in turn disposed of in landfills. Lead exposure has been linked with learning disabilities, behavioral problems and at very high levels, seizures, coma and even death. CRTs have been banned from Massachusetts solid waste disposal and transfer facilities since April 2000.

When you have unwanted electronics to discard, remember that still useful items can be donated to others. Non-working electronics should be recycled to prevent health and environmental risks. Often, your computer will be reused by a charity or school. Or, it may be taken apart and recycled. The different parts of the computer or television are used in many different ways:

• The glass CRT is either returned to a manufacturer and made into a new CRT, or sent to a smelter where the lead is recovered and recycled
• The plastic housing is ground to smaller pieces and recycled for use in various items such as retaining blocks and pothole mix
• Circuit boards, chips, and other parts can be reused to repair or upgrade older electronics or recycled for their scrap value
• Metal components will be separated and sold for their scrap value

What is Household Hazardous Waste? The unused or leftover portion of any hazardous chemicals or materials. Any leftover household product that is labeled with DANGER, WARNING, TOXIC, CAUTION, POISON, FLAMMABLE, CORROSIVE, or REACTIVE is considered a household hazardous waste.

Examples are: Household Cleaners, Mercury Items (inc. thermometers & thermostats), Motor Oil, Oil Filters, Paint & Stains (latex & oil), Pesticides, Pool Chemicals, Propane, Solvents, Aerosol Cans, Automotive Fluids, Batteries (auto, household, & rechargeable), Computer Monitors, Televisions, Fertilizers and Fluorescent Lights - including tubes and Compact Fluorescent Lights (CFLs).

Unfortunately these items cannot be disposed of in a dumpster so if you have any of this waste to get rid of you should ensure it is disposed of properly at collection sites. This will protect you and your families health, keep water clean and reduce storm water pollution and preserve our environment.

Otherwise the Household Hazardous Waste Transfer Facility is located at the Miramar Landfill entrance on Convoy Street, just north of State Highway 52.

The facility accepts household hazardous waste on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., except holidays. An appointment is required.

It is open to City of San Diego residents only. Call 858-694-7000, Monday-Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. with your list of household hazardous wastes. When visiting the facility, bring proof of City residency such as a picture identification and a recent bill showing your address.
