This one is a hardcover book that focuses on collecting vintage compacts and other beauty accessories. My lovely wife happens to collect these, so I have some insight into whats out there. This book focuses mostly in early 20th century pieces, as that was a heyday for these items. The 1920s and 1930s are an especially great time. This book gives ton of great info and full color pictures of everything from compacts to lipsticks and powders. This is a great reference guide to have on what types of items are out there. Its quite educational and a great read.

My wife and I actually collect this, but honestly our collection is limited to only about a dozen pieces, because they're rather expensive when we do come across them. This book not only helped us to learn a lot of the history that we didn't know around what was made when and why, but helped us to identify a TON more pieces that are out there that we didn't even know existed! Its a doubled-edged sword in that way, I suppose, but now I'm just more determined than ever to track 'em all down! The book is very well layed out with hundreds of full color images and great info. We highly recommend this one.

I wish more of Schiffer's great guides were this scale! This one is a must-have for any Trek fan.

Our Take: This funny new book is a retrospective of Barbie's main squeeze, Ken! I have a little bit more love for Ken after Michael Keaton's hilarious portrayl in Toy Story 3. This book is supposed to be tongue and cheek quotes from "Ken" himself. I honestly think its best just for the look back at the various Ken dolls through the ages. Its a great reference guide. This one is a tons of fun and would make a great Xmas gift.

Our Take: Beyblade is a very popular cartoon and toyline amongst grade schoolers. My son wakes up early to watch it and Pokemon before school each day, for that matter. About the Book: A rare glimpse not only into the life of a professional wrestler, but the life of a gay man in a straight world, this tragic memoir is told in Chris Kanyon’s own words, with the help of journalist Ryan Clark. One of the most popular wrestlers of the late 1990s, Kanyon kept his personal life private from his fans until finally revealing his biggest secret in 2004: he was gay. Going through the various roles that Kanyon played, both in the ring and out of it, as well as his battle with manic depression, this book explores the factors that led to his suicide in 2010. In his voice and the way he wanted it told, these are Kanyon’s last words about his experience rising through the ranks to the top of the professional wrestling world while keeping his sexuality hidden.

Our Take: I remember watching WCW in the late 1990s. I was a wrestling fan as a kid and I got back into it in 1997 for the whole NWO thing. Kanyon was a b-class wrestler. He never got the big event battles, but he was a solid player and a great wrestler with a good ring persona. I didn't learn til later, as most fans did, that he was gay. That was quite a shock to the wrestling fans I imagine, since they're so pumped on the testostrone-laced environment of wrestling. I thought it was brave and fantastic that he had the courage to come out. He later committed suicide in 2010, since he was bipolar. This book is in-depth, honest and touching. It is not only the best biography that I have read on a wrestler, it is one of the best biographies I had read ever...period.
