Summary:

Dade's summer just but, he has to enjoy it while it lasts because in a few month's he'll be going away to Fairmont College in Michigan. Dade's summer has been pretty bad so far. His boyfriend Pablo, treats him really bad and is pretty much a jerk and desperately denies who he truly is. Dade spends countless night feeling lonely and confessing to his ceiling all his true feelings and that he is gay. Dade never comes across as pitiful or miserable but, instead he knows that there are still better things out there for him. Things start to brighten up as Dade meets and falls in love with the mysterious Alex Kincaid. Alex is Dade's first real boyfriend and he finally experiences true love and true happiness. Dade also becomes friend's with his neighbors niece named Lucy, who is a lesbian but, she pushes Dade to be himself. He experiences many other things like sex, weed, etc. He struggles with his parents marriage and also his mom sickness. Dade learns many valuable lessons throughout his whole summer. In the final days of his summer, a bad tragedy happens which effects him in a huge way but, he learns to move past it and that everything is temporary. The world is vast and meant for wandering.

I feel this book is not just for homosexuals and is a great example for teens dealing with things and are stuck and basically dealing with what life throws at them. It's a really touching book and has an interesting perspective. Overall, it's an amazing book.

Book Review #3

Genre: Young Adult Fiction

Summary:

The Perks of Being a Wallflower is a story that involves a freshman boy named Charlie who is a wallflower. A wallflower is basically someone who is really shy and who feels shy and awkward at a party. Charlie is really intelligent and he goes on a journey throughout the book of discovering himself and high school troubles. He talks about his struggles throughout the book by writing letters to someone with no age, name or gender and seems to understand Charlie even though, he never writes back. Charlie encounters the same struggles many high school students would go through. He experiences how to make friends, having a crush, high school parties, family tensions, his sexuality, drugs, etc. He mainly deals with the struggle of his best friend Michael suicide. The letters explain and show his day to day emotions, feelings and experiences. He manages his depression with the help of his teacher who recognize how intelligent Charlie really is, and his friends Sam and Patrick. Towards the end he starts getting flashbacks of his Aunt Helen death. He soon becomes overwhelmed and reveals a tragedy that happened to him. He finishes the story by describing himself "feeling infinite" and says "In that moment, I swear we were infinite."

I feel this book touches so many wonderful subjects and things happening in our society everyday and I love the way the author puts it into context. It's honestly one of my favorite books of all time. I related to this book in many ways.

I recommend this book to anyone who likes young adult fiction or stories with unique perspectives.

Summary:
The Bad Beginning begins badly with the three Baudelaire children, Violet, Klaus and Sunny. Unlike, other books where it gets better it just gets worse. It all starts at the beach when they get the news from Mr.Poe that their parents, house and belongings have all been destroyed in a house fire. If the children thought that was bad they were wrong because they are then forced to live and work for their miserable, greedy, repulsive, distant cousin Count Olaf. At first, it doesn't seem to be as bad but then Count Olaf starts treating them more like servants and workers then like children. They slowly realized that their entire family fortunes are in trouble as Count Olaf deviously plans to trick them into getting it. As the story goes on, Sunny ends up being a hostage and it's up to Violet to save her. They didn't understand why or how they ended up so unfortunate and sadly it was only the beginning.

I feel this book was really interesting in many ways. It was also a fun book even though they were so unfortunate. I really enjoyed it. I feel like it addresses how sometimes how there are so many unfortunate events in our lives that we don't understand.
