Anyways..here’s a fun way to do the exercise in water.

Get into shoulder-deep or over-your-head water, whichever you’re more comfortable in. Whatever floats your boat.

Straighten your knees and alternate lifting your right and left legs toward the water’s surface. It will resemble a kicking motion without bending your knee. You will feel your hip muscles working, if done correctly.

Do this exercise 10 times. Return to original position.

Of course, consult with your medical care professional before doing any new exercise to prevent injury.

Enjoy!

Many websites, including blogs, have a section on product reviews. Many turn to these product reviews before deciding if the product is worth their hard earned money. Do an online search for product reviews and a listing of sites appear. How do you decide? Here’s some insight that may help you…

Some of the product reviews are paid for. And, the job posting will state that the writer does not need to have any experience with the product. Just follow the word count and do some research into the product, and write the review.

This is true. How do I know? First-hand experience, that’s how. Many a writing assignments have been sent my way with just those descriptions I mentioned in the previous paragraph.

So…before opening your pocketbook and relying upon those online product reviews..think first. What good is a product review if it is written by someone who has never even seen the product, let alone use it?

Some of my readers contacted me and asked about my tkr flexibility so long after my surgery. I inadvertently didn’t mention that in my 4-year post-tkr update. So….(thanks for asking, btw…short for by the way..)

My tkr flexibility is averaging 95, which is about the same as it was before my knee replacement. I have no concerns with this issue since it’s so nice to walk without pain and, besides, I couldn’t bend my real knee that well.

There’s excessive scar tissue around my tkr area, causing the inflexibility. Again, that’s no concern to me since it’s been accumulating for over 35 years.

I have noticed that my opposite-side knee is crunching. I’ve been told I have mild osteoarthritis in the knee. Again, I’m not that concerned since my “good” knee has been accommodating my body weight because of my “poor” knee for a long time.

There are times when I notice my opposite-side hip is letting me know it needs relaxing due to my leg length discrepancy. That’s life. A little icing and relaxing never hurt anyone.

Hope this helps others going through the same thing.

Hello my favorite readers! I’ve had some readers ask me lately how everything is going after my tkr, so I thought I’d update. Plus, it’s coming up to the 4-year post surgery date.

Everything is fine:
No revisions or adjustments have been needed
No complications
No excessive pain (woohoo!!!)
No excessive clicking
No feelings of misalignment.
I am what’s considered a success story.

I attribute it to doing my post-tkr recuperation program as directed, exercising regularly and eating a healthy meal plan.

I enjoy exercising and feeling my muscles and body move.

I enjoy eating a plain, unadulterated meal plan full of fruits, veggies, lean protein and whole grains. Moderation is the key, in my opinion.

I am not on any medications.

I maintain the proper body weight, which decreases pressure on my tkr leg and skeletal system in general.

Sleeping is not an issue, as it was during the tkr recuperation process. I’ve written before about going for a solid 8 months without sleeping more than 2 hours at a time due to excessive pain. It seems to be a common issue among total knee replacement patients.

Don’t get me wrong. There are times when my tkr area hurts due to exercising too much. (My mistake)

The damaged nerve (caused from a previous bone spur) that runs from my lower spine to ankle still hurts every now and then. I have written about the nerve damage in previous posts.

Sometimes my tkr does make a clicking sound, but that is rare.

If anyone reading this is considering a total knee replacement, I would highly recommend it if you have exhausted all other options.
Hoping this helps others going through the same thing. Does anyone else have stories to share?

With so much information available anymore, sometimes it can appear confusing what to believe. I, personally, do not believe at all the “healthy food” that ties into ConAgra food manufacturers. There is something fishy about suddenly seeing all this “whole grain” info found on what used to be known as sugary cereals, don’t you think? I don’t care if the first ingredient is whole grain….it’s still sugar nonsense. “Cap’n Crunch” is now “healthy”? Spare me…And, you know friggin’ well that the cereal manufacturer receiving the “good heart” endorsement is paying for it, don’t you? The way our food supply is being taken over by sponsorship is sickening. My blood pressure is rising…so I’ll end this rant and go on to the next.

Anyways, I just got done reading an article in a “healthy living publication” about new research findings stating that sitting up straight in your chair is bad for you. Do you believe that?? It turns out that a study INVOLVING 22 PEOPLE states that using good posture actually puts too much strain on the lower back. The solution? Slouch down into your chair. And, of course, you had to purchase the book full of these newfound facts in order to get more information. Spare me….how stupid do they think we are?

Good posture rules in so many ways there’s not enough room to write them all down here. And, anyone (dr., medical pro or book publisher) who doesn’t believe that and is trying to convince you otherwise…is just trying to make a buck off of your gullibility. Don’t ever think that bad posture is good for you. Never, never, never. Going through college one learns to avoid using the words “never” and “always” since there are usually exceptions. In this case, there isn’t. So, I’ll say it again…”never, never, never”.

I’m tired of it. Keep your nonsensible “new research findings” to yourself. There’s a new one everyday. Money is hard enough to come by and if you think for a second that I’m spending it on your stupidity….think again…

End of two-part rant….
