Back by popular demand, Friday Night Lights returns to Kierland Golf Club at the Westin Kierland Resort & Spa. Starting this October, the Resort’s FUN team will partner with Kierland Golf Club to offer Friday night fun for all ages including golf games, SNAG® golf for kids, 20-minute clinics with the course pros, a nine-hole glow putt course, music and even beverage cart service right on the driving range.

“At Kierland Golf Club, we think learning golf and playing golf should be about having fun – and who better than the Resort’s FUN Team to help create a great evening for golfers and non-golfers of all ages,” said Nancy Dickens, the Resort’s director of Golf.

The Blue Agave plant has long-been revered for the tequilas produced from the distillation of the Agave piña, the pineapple-shaped heart of the plant. Now, in combination with lime, it is proving its use as a cleansing and aromatic natural astringent and skin conditioner.

On the Spa’s menu is the new Salted Lime & Tequila Body Glow, a custom-blended aromatherapy and desert salt mixture into which the therapist adds tequila. The therapeutic exfoliating blend is applied to the body and then rinsed under the soothing Vichy shower resulting in silky smooth skin that is refreshed and glowing.

The Tequila Lime Refresh Facial features a citrus-based cleansing, toning with a Lime Refresh Tonique incorporating tequila, and an AHA Fruit Pulp and Pineapple Peel followed by a masque and moisturizer leaving the skin looking and feeling rejuvenated and brightened. A new Tequila Lime Revive Massage and Salted Lime & Tequila manicure and pedicure also are available.

First, to be called tequila it must be produced in Mexico and Tequila Herradura is one of the oldest and most respected producers of tequila (since 1870). Herradura is the only tequila approved by the FDA to claim “all natural” and the first 100 percent agave tequila ever to be imported into the United States.

The process to produce this spectacular tequila starts with the Weber Blue Agave, a succulent plant related to the lily. It takes about 17 pounds of agave to produce one liter of tequila. Only the agave heart is used which can weigh anywhere from 80 to 200 pounds. The heart, or pinas, is stripped of its leaves by the harvester, who is called a jimador, and cooked in clay ovens to convert the starches to sugars. From here the fermentation starts and lasts up to 96 hours for a more full-flavored tequila. With Herradura, only natural yeasts are used in the process giving the tequila an unmatched flavor. Distilled not once, but twice, to preserve only the best of the alcohol, it then is aged in new oak barrels for taste, color and smoothness. The use of reverse osmosis water helps to maintain the purity of the tequila’s aroma and flavor. Each double barrel Reposado is tasted, approved, and authenticated by the master distiller.

Whether you enjoy it with lime and salt, sipped in a snifter, or in one of our new cocktails – the Cucumber-dura, Herradura Passion and a Strawberry Jalapeno Margarita- we are confident you will you will enjoy this premium tequila.

Honored to be the only Arizona location to acquire a bottle, The Scotch Library is now offering the Balvenie 50 to our selection of over 200 single malt and blended Scotch whiskies.

Only 85 bottles of the Balvenie 50 were produced and only ten bottles will be sent to the United States. Bottled from cask 5576, a European oak sherry hogshead, the Balvenie 50 is described as a wonderfully fragrant and floral whisky, which is velvety sweet with a beautifully balanced combination of sweet citrus notes and gentle hints of honey, spice and oak.

The Balvenie 50 has joined The Scotch Library’s more than 200 selections of single malt and blended Scotch whiskies, which includes the exclusive Glenfiddich 50 Single Malt and Royal Salute 62 Royal Salute 62 Gun Salute. The Scotch Library is open from 5 -9 p.m. nightly.

For those who wish to further improve their understanding of Scotch, the Resort hosts “An Evening of Scotches” at 6 p.m. each Friday at the Library’s Ambassador’s Table. In addition to sampling three selections of Scotch, guests will have the opportunity to learn about differences between the labels, unique aspects of the various whisky regions of Scotland, and various ways to drink Scotch. Following the recent introduction of golf bikes to its unique fleet of golf vehicles, which includes Segways and climate-controlled golf carts, Kierland Golf Club now also offers GolfBoards, easy-to-ride electric boards that allow players to “surf” the golf course in a manner similar to water surfing, snowboarding or skateboarding.

Named “Best New Product” at the 2014 PGA Merchandise Show, GolfBoards feature four-wheel-drive, posi-traction mobility that provides traction on even steep hills and allows golfers to traverse the course more quickly and easily, reducing the time it takes to get from one shot to the next.

The GolfBoard’s stability handle provides storage space for clubs as well as controls for speed, but as with snowboarding or surfing, the rider uses body motion to guide the GolfBoard’s steering.

ProFIT Golf is managed by our master club fitter BJ Gray. BJ has over 15 years experience custom fitting all of the major manufacturers. He has worked with a wide variety of golfers from beginners to professional golfers and professional athletes. BJ has numerous accomplishments in the industry including: Ping Regional Fitter of the Year (2006 & 2013), Titleist top 100 club fitters and Mizuno top 100 club fitters. BJ’s expertise will allow you to be precisely fitted by his understanding and interpretation of the stats produced by our Flight Scope launch monitor during your fitting.

ProFIT Assessment

Before: We will utilize the technology of our doppler radar based Flight Scope launch monitor to check club head speed, ball speed, launch angle, spin rate, and accuracy. Your stats will be recorded and sent to the rest of our team.

After: After your instruction and Fore-Max workouts are complete, we will again test all of the stats we did before you started. We will find out how much faster you swing the club, how much further you hit the ball, and how much more accurate you are! We will also check your driver to make sure it “fits” your new swing.
