The forester on release is warned that failure to clear the fly tipped rubbish immediately at his own cost is an offence. He complains and is arrested for environmental pollution, breach of the peace and invoiced £12,000 plus VAT for safe disposal costs by a regulated government contractor.

Your assignment: How many times is the logger going to have to be arrested and fined before he realizes that he is never going to make £20 profit by hard work, give up, sign onto the dole and live off the state for the rest of his life?

The Government borrows more money to pay more to the bankers as bonuses are not cheap. The parliamentarians feel they are missing out and claim the difference on expenses and allowances.

A human rights case that deserved a hearing

David Cameron has very good reasons for wanting to reform the European Court of Human Rights.

David Cameron wants British courts to have the last word

David Cameron’s speech in Strasbourg yesterday, outlining proposals for reforming the European Court of Human Rights, has been met with a predictably hostile reaction from those who see no reason to fix this flawed institution. Yet what is he proposing that is so controversial? The Prime Minister’s most far-reaching suggestion is that rulings by Parliament, and by British courts, should not be superseded by the ECHR. He wants to apply the principle of subsidiarity – that final decisions should be made nationally, not by what he called “a court of fourth instance”.

This might be problematic if British judges were in the habit of handing down rulings that harm human rights. But they aren’t. Indeed, the principal architects of the European Convention on Human Rights, 60 years ago, were British jurists drawing on precedents enshrined in common law and statute over many centuries. As Mr Cameron said, the rule of law is a golden thread that runs through our history, and drove the struggle against tyranny in two world wars.

Unlike many of the 47 members of the Council of Europe, which oversees the ECHR, the UK has no need to apologise for its human rights record. And yet to raise legitimate questions about the way the Court interprets the Convention is to risk being cast as an opponent of basic liberties. This is absurd. Some reforms of the Court’s procedures to filter out trivial claims are essential to reduce its workload and the backlog of cases. But the key issue is whether perfectly reasonable decisions taken by the British courts are to be blocked, as with the attempted deportation to Jordan of the Islamist preacher Abu Qatada. Even though he is deemed a threat to national security, and the UK’s highest court has approved his deportation, the ECHR says he cannot be removed, despite Jordanian guarantees that he will not be ill treated.

Christine Sharples has joined enforcement firm Rossendales as compliance manager.
Sharples has joined the firm from the Ministry of Justice (MoJ), where she was best known to the enforcement industry for her tenure as head of the criminal enforcement team.
Since 2004, Sharples worked at the MoJ headquarters on the enforcement of court fines and confiscation orders in the Magistrates Courts.

This was followed by a secondment to the policy team which implemented the Tribunals Courts and Enforcement (TCE) Act 2007, where she headed the bailiff fees review.
Sharples has spent her entire working life at the MoJ and its previous incarnations as the department for Constitutional Affairs and, before that, the Lord Chancellor’s department. She has also worked on the department’s behalf in crown and county courts.
“I am delighted to be continuing my career within the enforcement industry and particularly with such a prestigious firm as Rossendales,” Sharples said. “It will be a different experience working with government departments from the other side of the table, but one I am looking forward to.”
Julie Green-Jones, chairman of Rossendales, added: “I have personally worked with Christine for many years on the TCE Act and have a great respect for her work ethic, her integrity and her knowledge and understanding of the enforcement profession.”

So the worm has turned. Not only was Ms Sharples the principle conduit for the victims into the poorly named Ministry of Justice, she was secretly negotiating her future with the same industry that has to date not been made accountable for the murder of a former Veteran, Andy Miller.

What, why, where and when did this public servant take her forty pieces of silver and move into the cesspit with a billion pound industry that is accountable to no-one except themselves?

Can we expect outrage from MP's? Wait and see. I doubt very much if any of them will even reply to missives of despair from victims of a viscous and nefarious industry.

What can be said without contradiction or equivocation is that it highlights the possibility of duplicity within the very offices of the MoJ if their main spokeswoman whilst heading the conversation with the innocent victims of abuse and illegality, simultaneously negotiated a lucrative future for herself in the very industry she was charged with regulating. Can we expect universal outrage from a profession that gave near sanctuary to their own colleagues and opposition members who were stripping the nation of it very moral fibre? We will watch and renew the struggle for JUSTICE, even if it has become so debased within society.

TOWN hall chiefs today unveiled savings of £10.6m in next year’s budget – with 75 jobs set to be axed from the council.
The brunt of the savings – £5.8m – will be found in social services with tighter controls on eligibility for adult social care and a review of care packages for people with learning difficulties.
Increased charges will also be introduced for some adult care services.
But £2m is also being slashed from back office costs and almost £1m is being saved by slimming down the senior management structure.
A total revenue budget of £144.2m is being proposed, but council leader Coun Simon Blackburn has pledged to freeze the council tax for the second year and said compulsory redundancies would only be considered as a “last resort”.
Blackpool’s grant from Government has been cut by 6.3 per cent this year to £81m, a reduction of £5.4m.

Former RBS boss Fred Goodwin stripped of knighthood

Sir Fred was in charge of RBS in the run-up to its near collapse in 2008.

Former Royal Bank of Scotland boss Fred Goodwin has had his knighthood removed.

Mr Goodwin, who was heavily criticised over his role in the bank's near-collapse in 2008, was given the honour by the Labour government in 2004.

The Queen cancelled and annulled the title following Whitehall advice.

In the past, only convicted criminals or people struck off of professional bodies have had knighthoods taken away. But the government said Mr Goodwin was an "exceptional case".

Fred Goodwin is today the scapegoat, the pariah and the victim of a political foxhunt that destroys the entire ethos of public life in Britain. Not a single recrimination against those who 'lauded' Fred with his titles and elevation into near sainthood as he did his bit to ruin reputations and financial institutions galore. But what of the weak and ineffectual jobsworths who lapped at his Lordships feet as he proved that British politics and politician as “not fit for purpose”!?

Perhaps if Fred had turned over his overloaded pensions to the poor and needy, the baying hounds probably would have left him to his opulent obscurity.

The new game is afoot. As the political parasites and their mouthpieces slap each other on their hunched and semi-literate backs, not a one will admit to the responsibility of escalating this incompetent man to an office he was totally unfit to hold.

Talk about getting Browned Off. Another Labour masterplan not thought through with the common man having to bail out political sufferage.

No conviction, no evidence of criminal activity unlike the worthless politicians who praised Sir Fred to the heights. The system is rotten but nowhere near as rotten as those who scrutinise the wrongdoers. "Want a second house on the taxpayer, Guv?"

Lancashire Constabulary holding a special interactive web chat to discuss the importance of staying safe online on Safer Internet Day (Tuesday 7 February).

It is the ninth year of the annual ‘Insafe’ campaign, which is celebrated in over 65 countries to recognise the importance of the internet, how to get the most out of it and how to use it safely and responsibly. This year the campaign is centred on the theme ‘connecting generations and educating each other’ and as such Lancashire Constabulary is asking young and old to come together to ‘discover the digital world together…safely.’

Young people are often more very comfortable with the internet, but they may not be quite as savvy when it comes to online safety. The police are asking parents, carers and teachers to work with young people to advise them about how to protect themselves while on the internet, and youngsters can then return the favour by sharing their knowledge too.

Safer internet tips for adults -

Make sure your firewall and anti-virus software is up to date.
Use different passwords for different sites.
Use secure and official sites (look for the padlock sign) when making purchases on-line.
Keep back up copies and print outs of on-line documents.
Do not disclose bank details as proof or age or identity.
Don’t reveal personal details to people you meet, or who contact you, on-line.

Safer internet tips for children and young people

Never give out personal details to online friends if you do not know them offline.
Remember people online may not be who they say they are – use caution when chatting to people who you do not already know.
Never arrange to meet up with strangers without an adult present who you trust.
Think carefully about the information and pictures you post on your profiles. Once published online, anyone can change or share these images of you.
Don’t open files from people you do not know – they may contain viruses which could damage your computer.
If you feel uncomfortable about anything that happens online tell an adult.

AGENCY URGES VETERANS TO HAVE THEIR SAY ON SUPPORT SERVICES

The Service Personnel and Veterans Agency (SPVA) is appealing to veterans to have their say about the services it delivers. The Agency’s launched online, with a hard copy sent to over 7,000 veterans, from 9 January 2012.

SPVA, part of the Ministry of Defence, provides vital support services for HM Armed Forces and the veterans community. These include pensions and compensation for injury/disablement or death due to Service, Armed Forces occupational pensions, the regional Veterans Welfare Service, the Veterans-UK helpline and the issue of all medals for Service dating back to WWII. SPVA is looking for feedback from those who have contacted the Agency or used its services during the past year, to find out what they were happy with and what should be improved in the future.

The purchase of Shadow Business Secretary Chuka Umunna’s mother’s house was financed via a Jersey-based trust which helps ‘high net worth’ individuals to ‘plan for and mitigate tax liabilities’.

Mr Umunna has attacked City fat cats who live by different rules to ‘ordinary taxpayers’.

He grilled Barclays boss Bob Diamond over the bank’s subsidiary companies in Jersey, which he described as ‘a well-known tax haven’, and described the payment of tax as an ‘obligation to society’.

Patricia Umunna is a partner at law firm Winckworth Sherwood, and specialises in ‘advising clients on all aspects of finance and funding’.

The Royal Navy is proud of its new fleet of Type 45 destroyers. Having initially named the first two ships HMS Daring and HMS Dauntless, the Naming Committee has, after intensive pressure from Brussels, renamed them HMS Cautious and HMS Prudence. The next five ships are to be named HMS Empathy, HMS Circumspect, HMS Nervous, HMS Timorous and HMS Apologist. Costing £850 million each, they meet the needs of the 21st century and comply with the very latest employment, health and safety, and human rights laws.

The new user-friendly crow's nest comes equipped with wheelchair access. Live ammunition has been replaced with paintballs to reduce the risk of anyone getting hurt and to cut down on the number of compensation claims. Stress counsellors and lawyers will be on duty 24 hours a day and each ship will have its own industrial tribunal. The crew ratio will be 50/50 men and women, balanced in accordance with the latest Home Office directives on race, gender, sexual preference and disability.
