BOPLA is now offering two new services: soft touch lacquering, and keypads with digital printing.

Soft touch lacquering

Soft touch lacquering is a highly-elastic lacquering on a polyurethane base whose main feature is its leather-like, soft-to-the-touch feel. The lacquer is colourless – coloured softtouch lacquering is not possible, and the actual shade of the component or enclosure creates the colour.

It is important to note that the enclosures or components which are lacquered cannot then be lacquered or printed again. Membrane keypads, front membranes and display screens can only be stuck on if the areas to be glued are not lacquered during the lacquering process, or if a special adhesive layer is used. Also, please note that the lacquered surface is easily scratched, and that it is always important to take into account the slip-resistant effect of the soft touch lacquer during batch processing.

In general, soft touch lacquering can easily be applied to all ABS plastic parts and enclosures. Other applications and materials must be tested at an early stage. However, we can already inform you that soft touch lacquer cannot be applied to anodised aluminium profiles. It is not possible to make a general statement about costs because these are very dependent on the size of the object to be printed – the minimum batch size for a soft touch lacquering is 50 pieces. Please ask for detailed information on the terms and conditions.

Keypads with digital printing

Keypads are often decorated with digital printing when it would be difficult, or even impossible, to produce especially complicated motifs, for example colour gradients or images using a silk screen printing process. Digital printing results in a very high-quality and brilliant image, and is also used for prototype manufacture and for short production runs. Of course, digital printing can be combined with the silk screen printing process.

Both series of enclosures stand out thanks to their standardised clear appearance, making them a large family. This is because of the identical concept of colours and accessories, so customers benefit from high levels of recognition on the market because the end users can easily identify the products.

Alustyle is mainly used for applications in the small and medium-sized segments, Intertego is often used to house products with larger dimensions and 19″ technology. Of course, all Euromas enclosures can be processed in-house by BOPLA in accordance with customers’ wishes. This includes all mechanical work such as drilling, milling, cutting threads, fitting with terminals and PG or metric screwing systems. The basic screening level of BOPLA’s standard metal enclosure is impressive, and the EMC conversion kits and components – available as an optional extra – provide further protection for the standard enclosure.

More and more electronic devices are in use today, and they interact with each other. This means that it is increasingly important to equip enclosures with good levels of EMC protection. The customer who uses the enclosure must not only ensure that the EMC limit values of the final device (transient emissions) are maintained, but also that reliable operation of the device is guaranteed even under difficult operating conditions. It is necessary to have protection against interference from other devices and from the mains network (interference). Reliable EMC protection plays an important part in ensuring that machines function, and this is something which manufacturers of systems, machines and equipment can use as a sales argument for their products.
