There are a whole host of reasons why you should choose Border Scaffolding for your scaffolding in Worcestershire. Find out more about us here.

We want our customers to know they are in safe hands with Border Scaffolding. That’s why after gaining our new accreditations earlier this year we didn’t stop there! We’ve now ensured that all of our staff are CRB checked.

What Does This Mean?

The Criminal Records Bureau check – which is now known as the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) – is an official government process which ascertains if an employee has been the subject of any criminal proceedings which may result in a criminal record.

All of our employees have now gone through this process meaning that we can now tell you with confidence that you can rely on the Border Scaffolding workforce to complete your job for you. We work on any number of commercial projects, including schools and residential homes, and therefore making sure our staff are trustworthy, upstanding citizens is of paramount importance to us.

So, What Else?

The CRB checks are just the latest in a whole host of qualifications and accreditations we have taken part in to ensure our scaffolding service stands head and shoulders above the rest. Other endeavours include:

Members of the Construction Industry Training Board

Construction Skills Certification Scheme qualified

SAFEcontractor accredited

The Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme (CHAS) qualified

Convinced yet? If you would like to find out more about our scaffold towers and scaffolding in Worcestershire and throughout the West Midlands, feel free to browse the website or get in touch with us today

This latest news article from the guys at Border Scaffolding takes a look a look at safety on scaffolds and how you can avoid any injuries or incidents.

Working on any form of scaffolding is dangerous. A lot of workers get very bad injuries every year in scaffolding accidents. Everyone who works on scaffolding should be properly trained to avoid any accidents. Common hazards surrounding scaffolding include:

•	Falls from elevation, this is due to a lack of fall protection on site.

•	Collapse of scaffold. This is commonly caused by instability or overloading.

•	Being struck by falling tools or debris. As scaffolding is used to work on many tall buildings, loose tools coming down from a great height is extremely dangerous to the public and co-workers.

All of these situations can be avoided by using simple safety tips. At Border Scaffolding we understand the dangers of working with scaffolding so we have put together a list of vital do’s and don’ts.

Do

•	Make sure a safety official has inspected the scaffold before use.

•	Display warning signs to let people know about dangerous areas.

•	Wear a hard hat. This will protect you at all times.

•	Wear sturdy shoes with nonslip soles. This will mean you will always be balanced and avoid any nasty slips. Always move around slowly and carefully.

•	Keep your eyes open. Look out for co-workers as well as members of the public.

•	Always use common sense when working on any scaffold.

Don’t

•	Take any risks.

•	Overload the scaffold.

•	Leave materials or tools on the platform at the end of the day.

We believe that safety comes first with scaffolding. If you would like any extra information on scaffolding safety then contact us today. The dedicated staff at Border Scaffolding are always willing to help and answer any questions.

Following us receiving two new accreditations in recent months, we at Border Scaffolding thought it would be useful to run through exactly what they mean.

In October 2012 and January this year, we at Border Scaffolding were immensely proud to gain two new accreditations, the first seeing us become SAFEcontractor approved before we then became CHAS accredited at the start of this year. In the scaffolding industry, maintaining the highest levels of health and safety are of paramount importance, which is why we are so pleased to have these accreditations to our name as they both focus around the best practices in terms of health and safety.

To give you a better understanding of exactly what these two accreditations mean, read on as we explore them both in a little more detail;

SAFEcontractor- The Health and Safety Assessment Scheme

Recognised as the leading pre-qualification health and safety assessment scheme, the SAFEcontractor assessment scheme was set up to promote high standards of health and safety and continue to comply with the set industry guidelines for the foreseeable future.

By becoming a SAFEcontractor, we are showcasing to all of our clients, both new and old, that we take the health and safety of all those working for us incredibly seriously in every project we embark on. This demonstration of our competence in this field should fill you with the confidence that we can and always will complete every project to the very highest standard, abiding by all industry guidelines in the process.

CHAS- The Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme

This accreditation was set up in 1997 with the aim of improving the standard of health and safety across Britain in addition to reducing the duplicated safety application procedures that were the norm previously. Holding this accreditation shows that we comply with all of the important parts of the Health and Safety law, again demonstrating to our valued customers the important stance we take on this area of our business.

With an annual assessment, we and the many other contractors who hold this accreditation will be regularly tested to ensure we continue to meet the guidelines in place and remain CHAS registered.

If you would like any further information on these accreditations or any of the other accreditations we hold, or wish to enquire about a scaffolding project you would like us to complete, get in touch with us today on one of the numbers local to you that can be found at the top of the page.

To Whom It May Concern,

During over the last few weeks I have had a team of your operatives working on my site to erect scaffolding in order that painting of our chemical tanks and cleaning of the face of our warehouse can be carried out. The Border Scaffold team was lead by a Mr Steve Millwood.

This e-mail is one of thanks and appreciation at the way your team conducted themselves. The job was not a small or straight forward job by any means and while the work was going on my team had to still function to meet the needs of our drivers and customers.

I must admit that when the work first started I thought that there would be issues on a daily basis what with FLT traffic and trailer traffic still in operation around the scaffolded areas. I am pleased to say this was not the case as Steve and his team worked with my team and myself in order to cause the least disruption to my operation as was possible. In fact there was hardly an incident where the operation had to stop for the scaffolders to do their work and visa versa and when this needed to happen it was only for a short period.

Please relay my thanks to Steve and his team for ensuring a quick and efficient scaffold erection and for conducting themselves in such a manner that reflected great professionalism and customer relations.

Finally, Health and Safety on a depot such as this is of the highest standards and Steve and his team consistently abided by all the site rules set out during their safety induction.

With thanks and regards,

Warren Byrne
Depot Manager
