here's the steps involved in order to keep Cinema set up with reasonably optimal settings every time:

To set up your render settings and scene:

1) File->New...
2) Render->Render Settings

a. General->Name (give any name you want for this preset).
b. Save->Depth set to 32 Bit/Channel
c. Antialiasing->Filter set to Sinc
d. Effects->Post Effect->Color Correction, set Gamma to 1.8/2.2
e. Effects->Post Effect->Sharpen Filter, set Strength to 10%
f. Options->Ray Depth, reduce to 6, Shadow Depth reduce to 6 (speed increase).
g. Save Menu (in render settings window, not Save Tab), Save->Save Render Preset

3) File->Save As... save in Cinema4D application directory as "new.c4d"

To set up your materials and lights:

1) Create a new material (Materials Manager File->New Material), then in the attributes manager...

a. Illumination->Model set to Blinn
b. Click on Color Tab again
c. Attributes Manager Menu : Edit->Set As Default, click Yes to confirm

2) Create a new light (Objects->Scene->Light)

a. Details->Contrast set to -50%
b. Details->Falloff set to Inverse Square (optional)
c. General->Shadow set to Shadow Maps (soft)
d. Shadow->Absolute Bias, uncheck
e. General->Shadow set to Area
f. Shadow->Accuracy set to 50% (speed up!)
g. Shadow->Maximum samples set to 64 (speed up!)
h. General->Shadow set to off
i. Attributes Manager Menu : Edit->Set As Default, click yes to confirm

And that's it. Now every time you create a new material it will be using Blinn as default, every time you create a new light it will have inverse square falloff and a better contrast, and every time you create a new scene it will have the sharper and unclamped AA, gamma correction and sharpen enabled by default, and hopefully this should help you improve the overall quality of the renderings you create.

Similarly to this you may wish to reduce the "delta" setting in several of Cinemas shaders by default and again use a "Set as Default" to store the sharpened up shaders so that next time you use them in your bump channel you will end up with suitably crisp bump maps

i created a plushie toy a few years ago and believe it or not have sold alot of them. I now have the oportunity to create them in vinyl or plastic and sell them. i have the model made. It definately needs tweaking. and although the model will be hand painted i want to creat the 3d image to reflect the original plushie i made for the packaging I am creating. thank you for looking

So I pay for my wife's car insurance and my name and hers are on the title. She lets her 18 yr old kid drive the car all the time to school and work. My concern is that the kid is not insured under us or on her own. Wife says is ok and I say its not. I also pay for gas for wife to drive not her kid who has two jobs and lives on her own...this causes fights because I dont agree! Am I being unreasonable?

New puppet purchase

It's been a while since I have posted, not sure what route I want to go with this blog. I still want to make puppets and I have so many hobbies, but funds are low and life is getting hectic.

I found this guy at a local thrift shop. He is very well made, but for only $4.95 I couldnt resist buying him. The Company that actually sells these puppes is called Sunny Puppets, so check the link out if yu are looking to buy a puppet instead of making one they are originally $39.95. Each comes with a detachable arm rod. The few puppets I have made I always wanted to make them full bodied and this has given me a better idea on how to accomplish this task. Now to save some money and collect the items I need so I can create more new puppets for my collection.

While in Colorado Springs I was fortunate to meet a great group of friends, once I get some pictures I may post them here. One guy I will never forget is Jun, we decided to get a tattoo while we where there and found a place called Tatttoo America ran by a Vet named Bob. I got my kids names done in Japanese lettering and Jun got himself a geko in his arm. Maybe when he grows big and strong it will turn into a dragon like he had designed. Ha-Ha! Just wanted to share some pictures.

While I was in Colorado Springs I had a great opportunity to meet new and interesting people. One guy at times greeted us with " What's up? Also while I was there one of the guys decided to go to a Hot Wing restaurant and try and take on the challenge they offer. I have been out of town for the last 6 weeks and before I left I had made one final puppet. Although I didn't have time to post it before I left, I had to get it on line the minute I had a chance after I arrived. Hope you like him.

He is a glorified sock puppet who resembles a snake. I tailored him after a used car sales man we had in colorado springs. He kept saying that he was prior military and that military takes care of military. At the time my wife was pregnant with our second child and he sold us this "reliable minivan". He keeps saying that military always takes care of military. Two days later the Van caught on fire in the middle of the highway. So you can see the resemblance on why I chose a snake looking character. He wears a button up shit and a tie and has his silver earing and rings, to look like he has money. He is a fast talker 30 year old, who is separated from the military due to a medical condition. Maybe he was separated from the military due to his tounge?

Technical: There where no deviations to the pattern, this is my second Glorified Sock Puppet Pattern, but the first one that has been completed. I used everything the pattern stated and did not deviate in any way. I found his clothes in a thrift shop and his rings came from a party store. His earing we had in an old jewrly box and decided to use them since no one here would wear them. His eyes are small ping pong balls and the black in his eyes where cut from some moving eyes I bought at michaels. - Carlos

Puppet Television

With it's first episode "Chino's Arrivals", it gives puppet fans something new to watch on the internet. The material is not really kid friendly. There are many profane words used through the episode. I did enjoy the show, but would not let my children watch it. I am not knocking it in any way, there is no rule that all puppet shows should be for children, I only mention it if you are a parent to make sure you know what you are letting your children watch before hand. All in all good 1st episode, and it is to be continued. Check them out and you decide.

My Truck, washed and rims cleaned, plus I removed the topper it had on. (The bed topper is for sale BTW) It does have a lot of work to be done on it. it has a lot of rust on the bottom and the driver side door, where the hinge is at is rusted so its hard to open and close the door.

It is a pretty truck, I had received a PDF file with some truck views I opened it up in photoshop and made a new line drawing so I can start working on a paint scheme. I think I will leave it orange, but I will paint the top white and leave the rest orange. I plan on having a Puertorrican flag painted on the top of the roof like the General Lee, but all this after I get the rust removed. I also want t o lower it half way from where it is now and add Gull wing Doors.
