Also, thank you all for so many of the ideas you shared. I feel chock full of inspiration and have already gotten started working on a few of the designs you suggested!

I’m not sure that I’ve ever showed you my work space. And, if I have, it has probably changed a whole lot since the last time I did. Well, this is it. It is a whole wall in my living room. It is where I store and pack and ship all of my shirts.

I do all the dyeing in a special washer that hooks up to my kitchen sink.

While I do have dreams of a dedicated studio space, I sort of like how my little operation fits into our lives right now. How there are bits and pieces of all the making spread through our home. How this small business of mine is so completely integrated into our home and our family life.

For now, it is perfect.

All weekends should be four-days long…don’t you think? Lucky for us the next one is three days. I’m already looking forward to it to ease our transition into a slightly different routine and schedule around here.

I love the process of thinking about the idea, figuring out how I want it to look and how I’m going to make it work.

I love sketching it out until it is just right.

I love transferring it to the linoleum and carving away the negative space.

I love printing it onto a shirt for the first time, seeing it all come together.

And this little dinosaur with the city skyline behind was just perfect. He came together quickly and I am so so pleased with the result.

The whole coming-up-with-something-new thing is so much my favorite that I am finding myself with a bit of a stash of shirts with some of my earlier designs and some old(er) color combinations that I’m looking to unload.

And now I’ve got the perfect solution. (Thanks for the idea, Andrea)

Not too shabby a day, I say.

And for all the mamas reading here, I hope your day was lovely as well.

I make stuff. A whole lot of stuff. Yarn. Yogurt. Shirts. Mittens. Hats. Bread. The list goes on and on.

The truth is, I like to make stuff. But even more than liking to make stuff, I like to learn how to make stuff.

And last week I was bitten by the bug. The I-want-to-learn-to-make-something-new bug. And so I did. I made cheese.

Fresh, delicious, ricotta cheese.

And it was simple. Super simple. So simple that I’ll do it again. And I’ll probably learn to make more cheeses. Because, why not? Right?

The instructions I read were right, the cheese was divine served warm with a drizzle of honey.

But it wasn’t too shabby with dinner either.

Warm noodles. Fresh tomatoes. Thinly sliced basil. And fresh, homemade ricotta cheese.

Simple.

Next up, mozzarella.

After that, it’s anyones guess!

We bought the beans, 25 pounds of pintos, for the boys’ construction themed birthday bash. It was a definite hit at the party and for quiet mornings. This time Xander was able to get in on the action.

Two boys. Twenty-five pounds of pinto beans. An hour of peaceful play.

Lovely!

So, there’s been a bit of techno-wrangling. Some successful, some not so. I’m sure many of you have noticed.

Anyways, the new digs are over at my own brand-new-shiny domain.

I’ll talk more, in the coming days, about the move and what it means. In the meantime, try to ignore the dust that is still settling while I am still unpacking boxes.

I just can’t get away from vehicles. No matter how hard I try.
