Event Title: Forever Buffs 5K Race

Date: Sunday, April 11, 2010

Time: Check in is at 7:00 am. The race starts at 8:00 am.

Location: 2000 Colorado Ave, Boulder, CO. The race begins at the entrance to the Duane Physics Building, CU Boulder Campus -across the street from the Buffalo statue by Folsom Field. The race will end on the Duane Lawn.

Cost: $20.00

Francis Bok, Author of Escape From Slavery, will speak about his former experiences as a slave in Sudan on Monday March 22nd, 2010 at 7 pm at West Side Books on 32nd and Julian in Northwest Denver. Come and meet Francis and hear his gripping tale of escaping slavery in Sudan and coming to America.

Francis will also be speaking at Slavery Past and Present, sponsored by the Colorado Coalition for Genocide Awareness and Action on Wednesday, March 24th, 2010 at 7 pm at Lindsey Auditorium, Room 281, Sturm Hall, 2000 East Ashbury Ave, University of Denver

Sudan Genocide Response Team-Mon Feb 1st

The Sudan Genocide Response Team at Congregation Har HaShem will meet Monday, February 1st at 6:30 pm. All are welcome. They will be discussing the upcoming “Stride to End Genocide” (a run in Boulder) sponsored by STAND (Students Taking Action Now in Darfur) at CU Boulder. Mark your calendars. The race/run will take place April 11th.

Additionally, there will be silent auction items to lavish your loved one (or yourself!) with spa days, massages, creams, lotions potions, art work, jewelry, evenings out, dinners…all sorts of goodies! All the proceeds go to support the work of CSI in their efforts to free slaves and alleviate sickness and suffering in Sudan.
With us will be Pastor Heidi McGinness, Director of Outreach and Development for CSI and recipient of 2010 Martin Luther King Humanitarian Award to give us an eyewitness account of the genocide occuring in Sudan. We will ply you with champagne, wine and Valentine’s goodies (some will be gluten free!), and you will hear stories of liberation and hope, deepening your understanding of the crisis in Sudan. A $20 contribution at the door will be requested. “Change the World It just takes cents” TM is an experiential, meaningful, non-partisan middle/high school service learning process and movement, which empowers youth. Through informed global awareness and action, youth lead, speak out and raise funds to educate Darfuri youth at home and abroad.

The Forum attracts growing numbers of students. The 2009 Forum entitled “For the Children”, hosted 950 students. This year, students will address … “And Justice For ALL.” They will also meet and learn from social activists, victims and survivors of genocide, and law professionals.

Please join The Sudan Genocide Response Team on January 17th at 6 PM for a showing of the world acclaimed film War Child. An award-winning documentary, directed by C. Karim Chrobog, chronicles the tumultuous, shocking, inspiring, and ultimately hopeful odyssey of Emmanuel Jal. A former child soldier of Sudan’s brutal civil war, he is now an emerging international hip hop star sharing a message of peace for his war-torn land and beloved Africa. All proceeds from this screening will go to the Goodwoman Fund for the education of Boulder’s Sudanese “Lost Girls”.

Colorado’s own Sudanese war child, Mario Lokidicho, will address the audience about his trip to South Sudan to take medical supplies and essentials to his Didinga people. All proceeds from this screening will go to this relief effort.
