That's perfectly reasonable. Between my first and second season, I jumped from 154 to 171. I'm up to about 181ish now. So yeah, definately reasonable.

As for my earlier comments about your swing, I only ment that the weight difference may and will mess with your consistentcy. I know when I would switch from my 16 pound ball to my 15 pound ball, it would mess with me a bit. Now I only use one ball weight to get over that.
There are a few other balls that are similar
next best thing would be a low hooking urethane.

A friend of mine had to move down in weight so he gave me a couple of his old balls. One is a white dot so I don't need any advice on that, but one is a Track Mean Machine. The websites I've visited say the ball is a particle pearl best for heavy oil. I'm wondering what anyone's personal experiences with this ball are. It never was good for my friend because of his style, but it is drilled for mine. Just wondering the best conditions for this ball.
I see I sparked a little controversy. I really didn't mean to. I was hoping someone might understand I was just having some fun with a situation I run into quite (too) often.

My little ones (8 and 10) love bowling. Not many kids don't. They were on the JR league last summer, and there's a lot of kids that I'd worry about competing against here. So, no. I'm not against little ones in the alley, bowling. The point I was trying to highlight is a cultural one. Bowling alleys are now being used as a substitute for Chuck e cheese. You can't even walk from the doors to the desk without having to negotiate dropped cake and pizza on the floor, not to mention the over-protective parents, constsntly hovering over their young, pouring more kool-aid in their sippy cups. The little ones out on the approaches during these barbaric gatherings have no parents to guide or coach them. It's just mass chaos.

I'm not saying how I was brought up was right, but I didn't get to bowl unt
The pattern used is a 40 ft house pattern. It matches up better on heavier patterns than my Cell due to the fact that it is so heavy rolling for me in the back of the lane. As far as comparing to the rest of the companies, all I can tell you is that the Mutant is already my top selling ball in my shop and no one has been dissappointed. You can look back a few weeks in the Pro Shop Forum and you will find the review I gave.
Well the weekly torture...I mean bowling session is over. I had another roller coaster type night. The specifics are here. The scores were 165, 212 and 176 for a 553 series. The past two weeks have been close to average first and last games with the bigger score in the middle game that boost the total.

The first game highlight was going 2 for 3 on washout leaves. It was a better pin bounce away from being 3 for 3. Of course the low light was the terrible shot making. Second game I got went on a roll with 6 in a row and a 9 count to finish the game. Last game I just got lost on the right lane. I never felt like I made a good shot on that lane to try to make a proper adjustment but I felt great on the left lane not missing once in that game. I had to play different lines on each lane. We only won 1 out of 4 points, the second game. The rest of my team rolled sub 450 sets, but one at least is averaging in the mid
If you like the storm line, you can do like I did pick a tropical up for cheap for the real dry, and keep the Fast the same in case the oil is a bit heavier.

The house I bowl at starts med light oil and transitions down to dry. So I start with the fast and then usually by the 8th frame of second game switch to the tropical.
Yessir! I know this topic was covered in great detail in the BOWLER'S LOUNGE, but I'm very fascinated right now.

You see, I bought a Copperhead a couple months ago to try and get myself playing more in the middle in the soup. Every now and then they really can pour it on. However, my results have been less than desireable. I've been feeling like my thumb's hanging on release, killing my rev potential. I finally caught up with my driller today and explained my problem. I thought he was going to change the thumb pitch for me. That's what I felt my problem was. Instead he digs his bionic arm (wrist guard) out and tells me to put it on. Sheesh... THAT was the last thing I wanted to do. I already wear a cheap Ebonite brace (you know, the kind you pick up for 15 or 20 bucks that stops at the knuckles) so didn't want to get used to another contraption that disguises my arm from the eblow down.

"Just try it for a while while I drill someone's ball and see if you can't come out of your b
well, the 'slide' part is ok now, but the brakes on these things are a bit much.

still have to use my old shoes, old ones seem 'flatter', new shoes seem to have me going down hill, the heel part is taller, and i end up stopping way too soon.

any ideas on smoothing out the heel? not sure if i should hit it with some sand paper or what??
yet another work week is over. we've been painfully slow and it's killin me. as an auto tech, i get paid on what i fix, and if there's nothing to fix, my pay check takes a hit. hope things pick up, but we are in the 'slow season'.

upside, wife and i are going to go see Lynyrd Skynyrd tomorrow night, should be a good show.

my daughter made her HS bowling team, and has started out with a 100avg., she gripes about it, but i told her she has to start somewhere, cool part is, she's open bowled with us in the past for fun, but now seems to have the desire to get better at it. so now my whole family is bowling at some point in the week!
there is a pro bowler inthe league whouses his rogue Cell almost exclusivly there and that is at the end of the night. So im assuming there is pretty heavy oil. Now i don't know if this is accurate or not.
Most pros have more revs and speed, plus they are used to playing further inside where on tha house shot, there is more oil. But they have the revs to get the ball to come back from in there. So while noticing what's being used on the lanes is a great idea and important you also have to realize if that bowler has a similar style that you do.

Just seeing the oil on the ball isn't always an indicator of how much oil is out there. Rather it does show you that you have a fresh shot and it can also show you where the oil is and isn't. If you cannot get the ball to come back and you see the oil on it, then you'll probably have to move further outside for now until the lanes transition a bit. Then you'll find yourself back at your comfort place.

I'm with CoachJim on this. My dad always told me the less boards you cover the better chance you have of leaving something easier to pick up. Not always though haha but i don't play a down an in shot and i leave some weird looking splits sometimes.
