Erin, you can't cite the exception to justify the rule. On a rare occasion, someone who shouldn't bowl 300, just may. But, there are 52 of the 88 in the entire Association at just 2 Centers. I don't think all of the better bowlers only bowl there.

If there is so much better training of bowlers today, then I guess all the people in 2 centers have that training, and the others don't. I don't accept that. I know bowlers who bowl in those centers. And, they all say their average is 10-15 pins higher at those centers. It is the center that gives the higher scores, not the bowlers.

And, I really am not comparing scores of today to those of yesteryear. One center just re-opened after a fire and the other is a new center of an older one that closed. All of those 300's are new and after just 2 years. And, mostly by bowlers who bowled on other houses before.

One of the Female Coaches on my Wed team bowls at one of those houses, and she comes right out and says her average is
The deeper you play (typically) the more accurate you have to be. So you have to put accuracy into the equation.

Now if you get further left and your ball doesn't turn the corner enough, then you are a bit too deep. Or you can try targetting closer to get the ball into an ealier roll and therefore turn the corner.

Find a high school football stadium and run up and down the stairs (at a leisurely pace) for about 15 minutes at a time. Your bowling will improve.
or
take two single-ball bowling bags and walk up and down flights of stairs with them. Same deal.
or
put 30 pounds in a backpack and walk about 2 miles.

and don't forget to stretch....

(no kettlebells this time...)
Tonight I went 265-180-240-210--895

The first game was clean. Second game I had 2 nasty splits and couldn't string any strikes. Third game I moved a bit and found the strike line again. One nasty split cost me a 270+ game. Final game was a struggle for most of the game as the left lane had a dry spot off which my ball would bounce into the head pin. Finally moved further left than I ever like to play with my Cell Pearl, but it worked, and I struck in the 9th then 2 more in the 10th to close out my opponent. I took 4 of 5 points from him (3 games + total) and my team took 20 points overall. We're now in 2nd I think.
It's also been about a year since I last bowled at Greenway and I was in the midst of making some changes to my game as well as having a new grip fit, and it was mid-day so I'm not sure what the conditions were really like. The only time before then that I went it seem pretty heavy. I was using my Scorchin Inferno and having to play up the 8 board or so and still coming in light at times, and had to point some of the other balls I had at the pocket.
Thanks for the reply - and I think I am looking for the ball you mention "a ball that arcs all the way down the lane rather than one that skids on the oil and then flips in a sharp snapping hook at the break point." Trouble is it's hard to tell from the "stats" on a ball - i.e. rg, diff rg, etc - which balls fit that category. I'm still in talks with the pro shop I visit but it's in a different town than where I live so it's hard to get over there...

Well I've been bowling with my T-Zone ball for about 5 months now. I'm recently learning that it doesn't fit 100% as it should because my pro-shop drills a ball the way the feel like. I'll be going to a better pro-shop next time. Anyway, soon I'll be purchasing my first reactive. I think I've narrowed it down to the following balls provided I can get them.

Roto-Grip Pluto
Storm Tropical Storm
Brunswick Power Groove Reactive

I bowl #15's.

I've also heard that the Power Groove and the Tropical Storm don't have advanced cores and as such a Pluto would be a better choice.

I have already started to learn to hook the plastic ball so what ball would you you all suggest as a first ball?

-Thanx

Yeah, Bailey's is the nuts, Crosley isn't too bad. Husted's Hazel Dell lanes...I dunno, the lanes we were on kept dropping pins, sometimes the balls didn't return and then, when they did, they had some kind of gunk on them. We're not going back there.

Dennis at the pro shop in Bailey's is the guy to go to for ball questions. Pretty much if I could always bowl at Bailey's, I would. Haven't tried the AMF place, will have to give them a shot sometime.
And if it's a crappy bowler instead...well, it's really bad.

I'll be sure to ask exactly what he changed... I think he said the word "pitch" at some point and I think also he's going to aim the thumb a little further across the palm--but with that last he said it would get me more hook if I could do it but if it didn't work he'd edge it back out some.

I'll try to get more specifics lol.

It's nerve compression in the spine. [/quote]

Dennis, I'm real sorry to hear about your problems.
The unbent approach might look funny, but a 750 is remarkable!

You might try an inversion table for your spine.

I once had an injury - my knee - and so I bought a 6 pound White Dot. I got 2 strikes per game with it, and threw it until it cracked, which only took about 50 games....

Bowling is fun, no matter what. My pal Bob returned to the center after a knee operation, wearing a brace (when the doctor said it was okay). It's in our blood, can't get it out.

Just don't hurt yourself.
I picked mine up last night. Had it drilled pin above ring finger with a weight hole ~ on PAP to go long and release energy hard once it hits friction. I wanted this ball to complement my Virtual Gravity which was drilled for early roll.

I had a chance to throw it before the PBAX league on a somewhat fresh house shot. It was very smooth through the head part of the lane and once it hits dry it makes a hard turn and finishes well hitting the pins hard. I was carrying just about everything that got near the pocket. During the PBAX league (chameleon) I threw it a couple of times during practice, but it didn't feel like it matched well with shot so I put it away and used my VG during league play. After league, I tried the VE again on the same set of lanes during open bowling. It seemed to match up better on the chameleon after it broke down a bit. I was hitting the pocket with it at both the 10 & 13 boards while moving my feet accordingly. It went long and made a turn into the pocket o
