Hi Everyone,

This weekend is the Champions of Champions finals, we have a representative playing in the last sixteen, but despite our interest the slowness of putting the results on the EIBA website is simply awful.

It was last updated at 2pm Saturday end of quarter finals, the finals are being played and we have no ider who managed to get through.

Expect officials are still at the free lunch!!

No wonder we are in a rapidly declining sport.

WORLD'S MOST ADVANCED BOWLS READY FOR PLAY

The world‘s newest and most advanced lawn bowls manufacturer, Sydney based Australian owned AeroBowls recently received official World Bowls certification.

AeroBowls are manufactured at a state of the art plant in Rosebery, Sydney and are part of the high profile Comfitpro group, a manufacturer and distributor of a wide range of market leading bowls accessories and clothing.

AeroBowls is in the process of launching three models of bowls types on the Australian market and has plans to be a major exporter of bowls once production has been ramped up.

AeroBowls Chief Executive Officer Walter Jacobs, together with AeroBowls Administrative Director Sharon Jacobs and AeroBowls Chief Operating Officer Rod Heaton said in a joint statement today: “We are delighted at the passing of this important milestone in our journey to bring a new level of technology and performance to the game we all love so much.

“The advanced technology we have brought to the manufacturing process -which is already used in biomedical, defence and aerospace industries around the world - means for the first time in the history of the game bowlers can purchase a set of bowls secure in the knowledge that every bowl in their set will be identical in trajectory.

“This is a fundamental guarantee of AeroBowls.

“It’s a major breakthrough for the game and represents a technological‘catch-up’ compared to many sports.

“Sports equipment has evolved rapidly over the past two to three decades through the application of new materials and new advanced manufacturing processes, whether it be golf, tennis, football, sailing or cricket, to name a few.

“Our own personal experience as bowlers combined with a long and close association with bowlers at every level, made us aware of the shortcomings of traditional bowls and fed our desire to make the perfect bowl.

“We have been heartened by the support for the endeavour by elite bowlers in many countries who shared our interest in making a better bowl.

“AeroBowls is committed to remaining at the forefront of the sport and to a philosophy that ensures that all bowlers, regardless of their level of expertise, will have access to the same bowl. We do not and will not make special one-off sets for the professionals,” they said.

AeroBowls will be available in leading bowls outlets in Australia from March 2012. A New Zealand release date is yet to be confirmed.

Our Problem is the Colored Caps that my Club has now got as part of the uniform,
We all have to wear the same color but the only sort made are peaked caps which give you hardly any protection from the sun, its all right for the front of the face but the ears sides etc are very exposed to the sun, and the number of Bowlers with neck ear cancer is rising,
But the County insist we can only bowl if everyone is wearing the same Colored Peaked Caps.

This rule is Rubbish have a Look at this Photo this is what we need girls.

Have also put this Photo on Members Pictures

This was posted on one of the Aussie Forums that I belong to. I reproduce it here verbatim, haven't read it all yet, just flicked thru but it looks good, particularly in my view the article on marking around pages 66-67.

http://www.insidebowls.com/index.php

Here is a new online bowls magazine that is now up and running. 1st Edition is here.
It has articles from all states with the top writers from the varying states.

Greg Kelly has an article or so on QLD too
John Bevin our South Australian Bowls writer here has 4 articles or so in the first issue 1 on Dave Stockham, the recent Asia Pacific event at Lockleys and Holdfast Bay, the reopened Penola Bowling club in our states south east after being damaged by a Cyclone in 2010 as well. All in my view are very good articles that John has written here.
David Allen the Victorian editor who was responsible for the Bowls In Focus magazine up till late last year is the Editor of this new online magazine.
In my belief this has got together some of the best bowls writers and promoters as well as knowledgeable players going around.
Have a read sometime folks as i am sure they would love any positive feedback that you are prepared to give them as i know some do pop in here at times to look at this place.
Meet the Team

Graham Davies - Publisher and Bowls Tragic

Web design guru Graham Davies is a self-confessed bowls tragic – he can’t get enough of sport’s most-level playing field.

The Victorian-based business whiz had cosseted the idea of creating a reader-friendly on-line magazine dedicated to his beloved sport for years, and devised the perfect application after seeing an on-line magazine concept that had been developed in France, then adding his own refinements.

“I had kept it under wraps until recently when I read that David Allen had decided to retire on the Bowls Victoria website. I’ve been enjoying his work for more than a decade and immediately contacted him. David raised the bowls journalism bar in Australia and around the world years ago, and I convinced him that he was the man to take coverage of the sport to its most exciting phase yet.”

David Allen - Editor in Chief

Australia’s most experienced and respected bowls writer for more than twenty years, David Allen has provided his unique perspective of the sport at five Commonwealth Games, six World Championships and countless blue ribbon events during his career.

An award-winning sports journalist, he brings a lifetime of expertise and knowledge to the editor-in-chief position at Inside Bowls. David spent two years as bowls editor of the Murdoch-owned Sports Weekly, then eight years as publishing editor of Jack High.

In 2000 he was headhunted to create Draw Shot, a dedicated magazine for Victoria’s lady bowlers before launching Bowls In Focus, widely regarded as the sport’s foremost publication in 2004. David will spearhead the Inside Bowls team of writers and photographers to dispense the finest coverage of the sport ever seen, from the grassroots of the game to its dizziest heights.
The powers that be in Cornwall have now decided that our ladies pairs county competition should go back to the way it was
Last year the pairs were played on a play by date where bowlers gave three dates and arranged their own games,
Now its back to playing this competition all on one day which means anyone who works has to take time off work to play,

There are big changes this year in the way the Ladies County Johns teams play they are going to play their games same as the men I believe it six games in all every weekend over June July
Its not a knockout competition in their first round etc I have heard an awful lot of behind the back talk about what is going to happen if a county starts to lose games and they have no chance of winning it costs a player at least twenty five pounds to attend these games and some girls feel that the top bowlers will pull out with excuses when they realize they have no chance of winning,
Its going to be an interesting year girls
