Track your weekly miles or time spent moving on our form and return it to the library.

Use the link to track or pick up a paper version at the library. The form can also be found on our Facebook page.

(For every 15 minutes or 1 mile of physical activity, we will add a length of string to our wall.)

The strings will be used to track your activity. Get your forms in every Thursday, no later than 5 PM and we will update the wall from 2-5 PM. If you would like to put the string up yourself, stop by during the allotted time. Otherwise, the librarians will log the string for you.

NEW goodies have landed at the BRPL! We’ve just rolled out two fun kits for our mini bookworms: Phonics #1 and Phonics #2.

These kits come with book boxes featuring some of our beloved characters like Pete the Cat, The Berenstain Bears and Little Critters’ and a Phonics game to help those newbie readers level up their skills!

But wait, there’s more! We’ve tossed in the word-building game, Word for Word, to our collection! Perfect for 2-4 players, ages 7 and up, it’s a blast to boost vocab while having a ball!

Kits and games are up for grabs with any adult library card—just make sure it’s free of lost or overdue items. You can borrow them for a week. Swing by the library to discover even more treasures waiting for you!

Set off on an exciting exploration of the intersection between technology and creativity with Bowman Regional Public Library’s innovative endeavor — the Free Public 3D Printing Pilot Program! 

This pilot program will run from December 2024 to April 2025, or until we reach the $500.00 filament milestone. 

Submitting Your 3D Printing Request is Easy!

Fill out the 3D Printing Pilot online form with your basic details, provide a link to a Creative Commons-licensed 3D file from websites like Thingiverse or Printables, agree to our program’s terms and conditions, and hit submit! 

Once your 3D prints are ready, swing by the BRPL to pick them up. We will kindly ask you to complete a brief survey upon pick-up. Your feedback is invaluable, helping us shape the future of our 3D printing services.

Program Guidelines

This program is all about unleashing your creativity while adhering to a few simple guidelines: 

• Printing is limited to non-commercial and educational purposes. 
• Adult Library Cards only, please.
• Only 3D files with Creative Commons licenses from approved websites will be accepted. 
• Each patron can request up to 3 prints during the pilot period. 
• No weapons, projectiles, or NSFW content will be printed—let’s keep it friendly! 
• We reserve the right to limit and alter designs/prints to ensure the best experience for everyone. 
• Prints will be delivered with supports still intact, giving you a glimpse into the printing process. 
• All prints will be produced with the filament color currently loaded in the printer. 
• A single print is defined as any printing job that can fit on the print bed and can be completed in one continuous run. Print jobs that require separate printing sessions will count as multiple prints. 
• We will be using PLA filament. 3D printing files that are intended for other 3D printing materials types may be rejected.

Looking to find a quiet space to connect with fellow book lovers? The Bowman Regional Silent Book club might be what you’re looking for. This meetup at the Bowman Regional Public Library offers the perfect opportunity to share your passion for reading in a welcoming and inspiring environment.

There are no assigned readings for this event; simply bring along your current book and enjoy an hour of silent reading with others. The event kicks off with a half hour of light refreshments to help you settle in.

Following this, you’ll have an hour dedicated to silent reading. Finally, the last half hour is flexible—continue reading, explore the library’s offerings, socialize with other attendees, or check out some handpicked recommendations from the library staff.

The project will transform a gravel-covered drainage ditch behind the Library’s building into the Library’s backyard Green Space, where children can experience nature-themed story times, STEAM activities, pollinator and outdoor reading gardens, and library users will find a safe and welcoming place to interact with their community.

The Green Space isn’t simply a garden; it’s a multisensory learning environment with planted spaces, an arched gazebo for musical performances and community events, nooks for quiet reading, and spaces designed for users of a variety of ages to interact with one another and library resources. It uses an underutilized, and unattractive space, and transforms it to a welcoming, playful, and useful area that expands Library services beyond their four walls and allows the Library to offer a wider variety of programs and services to the people of our region, and those traveling from Mount Rushmore to the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library. 

The project also solves several long-standing problems: the poor drainage of the Library’s parking and poor lighting of the Library’s exterior. During a rain event, the library’s parking lot fills with water due, in part, to the passive overland drainage from neighboring buildings and parking lots. The Library building has residential grade gutters, not nearly adequate for its 6,200 square foot footprint. In the winter, the poor drainage creates a Library parking lot that ices up. This inhibits the elderly and those with small children from using the Library during winter months. The back of the building is illuminated by a single light, leftover from the days when the building housed the Red Owl Grocery Store.

The Green Space will be a successful public outdoor space for our area, not only providing a pleasing environment to relax and connect, but also to serve a variety of functions. It will create a social, comfortable, and accessible space right off our city’s Main street that will serve to support community members whether they are accessing library resources, meeting over coffee, shopping, or using city services. It will be welcoming to visitors, and it will expand the abilities of the Bowman Regional Public Library to serve our community, partner with other community organizations, and create a stronger sense of community. The Green Space will be a place our region can be proud of.
