It was another thrilling night of boxing inside the famed BB King Blues Club and Grill in New York City.

Middleweight contender Andy Lee (30-2-, 21 KO's) needed just 1:27 seconds to dispose of Darryl Cunningham (28-5, 11 KO's) in the main event.

Lee, a 28-year-old southpaw, hurt Cunningham with a thunderous right hook-straight left combination approximately forty seconds into the bout. At that point, Lee connected with a barrage of piercing punches until Cunningham slipped to the canvas in the corner. Referee Benjy Esteves immediately halted the action.

Rose Stuns Parsley

Louis Rose (7-1, 2 KO's) shocked the crowd in attendance when he unanimously outpointed Brooklyn's Delen Parsley (10-1, 3 KO's) in an eight-round super middleweight contest. Rose received tallies of 77-74 and 76-75 twice.

Parsley, 25, utilized a piston-like jab to keep Rose from applying any pressure in round one. By round two, Rose began to close the distance.

In round four, Parsley started to land more punches behind his lightning-quick left jab until Rose charged forward with a swift four-punch combination, sending the Brooklynite to the canvas for a few seconds.

During round five, Rose efficiently timed Parsley with overhand rights when Parsley abandoned the jab for brief periods.

By the sixth round, Parsley exhibited minor swelling under both eyes. However, for the majority of the minutes in each round, Parsley appeared to be consistently outboxing Rose easily with his left jab.

In rounds seven and eight, Parsley used his superior lateral movement and cracking hand speed to create the impression he amassed additional rounds in the bank. On the official scorecards, however, that would not be the case, as Parsley sustained his first professional defeat.

Russ Outpoints Jordan

Super middleweight prospect Lamar Russ (13-0, 7 KO's) stayed unbeaten, capturing an eight-round unanimous decision in an action-filled match-up with Rochester, New York's Russell Jordan (15-10, 10 KO's). Score totals were 79-73 twice and 78-74.

Russ, 26, connected early in the first round with a series of crisp left hooks.

Russ broke through Jordan's defensive guard in the second round, peppering him with multiple shots off his steady left jab.

After Jordan, a slick southpaw, briefly stunned Russ with a well-timed straight left in the third, Russ started to unleash a storm of punches with Jordan's back against the ropes. Both fighters were gassed as the round ended.

Jordan nullified Russ' attack in the fourth round by increasing his use of angles and feints.

In the fifth round, Jordan bloodied Russ' nose. Russ lacked consistency with his left jab, which enabled Jordan to fire and land a wide range of punches.

Jordan anticipated Russ' assault better in round six, but fouled him low with a left uppercut.

Russ displayed a higher work rate in round seven, ripping off a series of straight rights that dazed Jordan.

Jordan exhibited a durable chin, although he almost got knocked out in the eighth and final round. Russ hurt Jordan with a succession of left hooks, pounding Jordan as he lay on the ropes. Shortly thereafter, a flush right-hand shot from Russ seemed to leave Jordan out on his feet. The bell may have saved Jordan from being knocked unconscious.

Other Bouts

Heavyweight Tor Hamer (20-2, 13 KO's) ended Maurenzo Smith's (11-6-2, 8 KO's) night with a big left hook at 1:31 of round three. Hamer did a terrific job mixing up his shots throughout the fight, thoroughly assaulting Smith. Hamer started with rock-solid body shots, and subsequently pounced his head.

Neuky Santelises (5-0, 4 KO's) used his devastating left hook, along with an untiring onslaught of punches to annihilate Aaron Chavez (3-3-1) in lightweight contest. Official time of the knockout was 2:15 of round one.

In a cruiserweight battle, Jay Rodriguez (0-0-1) and Andre Ward (1-1-3, 1 KO) fought to a four-round majority draw. Official score totals were 38-38 twice and 39-37 in favor of Ward. Both fighters threw and landed wide punches during the course of the fight, while sporting inept defense.

Junior lightweight Elizier Agosto (2-2, 2 KO's) ruined Angel Suarez' pro debut with a destructive second-round knockout.

In a close, highly competitive first round, Suarez landed the cleaner, more punishing blows. Yet, Agosto's right-hand shot caught Suarez, momentarily staggering him in round two. When Suarez got his balance back, he unleashed many severe body shots, including one that landed on Agosto low. Following a furious exchange, Agosto discharged a sneaky right uppercut, flattening Suarez instantly. Suarez attempted to sit up, but leaned back down. Time of the knockout was 2:59.

Louis Cruz (3-0, 2 KO's) effortlessly outclassed Michael Carreras (0-3) via scores of 40-36 twice and 39-37 in a welterweight battle.

After a spiritless first round, Cruz tagged Carreras with a speedy, counter-left hook in round two.

While trading shots in round three, Cruz accidentally hit Carreras below the belt.

During round four, Carreras snapped Cruz' head back with a stiff left jab. Cruz absorbed it, and rocked Carreras with a double jab - straight right combination in the closing moments of the fight.

Floyd Mayweather, Jr. (44-0, 26 KO's) retained the WBC Welterweight title, outpointing Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero (31-2-1, 18 KO's) 117-111 on all three official scorecards.

Guerrero matched Mayweather's hand speed early in the fight, especially in the first round. Whenever Mayweather threw a punch, Guerrero fired back immediately, forcing the undefeated pound-for-pound king to make adjustments. As the fight went on, Mayweather brilliantly modified his game plan.

While Mayweather, 36, struggled offensively in round two, he still managed to slip Guerrero's punches with ease. He started to land some lead right-hand shots, but Guerrero was right in his face.

Guerrero, a southpaw, kept touching Mayweather with his right jab in the third round. In the last two minutes, however, Mayweather started to find his rhythm.

Aside from being trapped in the corner shortly in round four, Mayweather used his distinguished boxing ability and superior reflexes to attain the upper hand.

Mayweather's offense really began to click in round five, as he repeatedly struck Guerrero with his acclaimed lead right-hands.

Guerrero's punch output dramatically dropped by the sixth round, as Mayweather discovered his comfort zone.

When round eight rolled around, Mayweather could not miss with his punches. Mayweather's lead right hand was breaking through Guerrero's defensive guard smoothly.

Guerrero came on in the ninth round, but Mayweather's craftiness made him hesitant to release his punches.

As a result, Mayweather cruised in the championship rounds en route to victory.

Mares TKO's Ponce De Leon

Abner Mares (26-0-1, 14 KO's) picked up the WBC Featherweight title, stopping a durable Daniel Ponce De Leon (44-5, 35 KO's) at 2:20 seconds of the ninth round.

After both fighters released countless power shots the first two rounds, Mares feinted with a right and caught Ponce De Leon flush with a swift left hook to the face, flooring the champ with five seconds left in round two.

Mares, clearly illustrating the superiority in hand speed, relentlessly attacked Ponce De Leon's body in the beginning of round three.

Mares continued to beat Ponce De Leon to the punch in round four, as Ponce De Leon tirelessly charged forward.

Employing his exceptional ring generalship, Mares dictated the pace in rounds five and six. In spite of this, Ponce De Leon kept pressuring Mares.

Ponce De Leon struck Mares low in round seven with a left uppercut, and was warned from referee Jay Nady to keep his punches up. After that, Mares traded his right crosses with Ponce De Leon's straight left-hand shots the remainder of the round.

Mares exerted a lot of energy in round eight, while Ponce De Leon patiently timed him with overhand lefts. Mares showed an abrasion under his right eye, and on his right shoulder following the end of the round.

In the ninth round, Mares tagged Ponce De Leon with a sweeping overhand right, dropping him on his back instantly. Ponce De Leon, displaying massive swelling on his left cheek, was met immediately with a large volume of punches in the corner after rising to his feet from the knockdown. Feeling Ponce De Leon consumed too many clean punches, referee Jay Nady stopped the contest without delay.

Santa Cruz Impressive Again

Leo Santa Cruz (24-0-1, 14 KO's) obtained the vacant USBA Junior Featherweight title, stopping a courageous Alexander Munoz (36-5, 28 KO's) in the fifth round. Time of the stoppage was 1:05.

Santa Cruz, a high volume puncher, temporarily staggered Munoz with a right cross-left hook combination to the head in the middle of round one.

Both men exchanged blow-for-blow at a heated pace in the second round, although Santa Cruz displayed the leverage in power. Munoz slowed toward the end of the round.

In the third round, Santa Cruz peppered Munoz with a multitude of shots to the body and head. With fifteen seconds to go in the round, Munoz collapsed from the accumulation of punishing blows he absorbed from Santa Cruz, but rose to his feet before referee Vic Drakulich reached the count of ten.

Santa Cruz continued his heavy assault in round four, almost dropping Munoz again just before the bell rang. Munoz appeared ready to quit on his stool after the round concluded.

A minute into the fifth round, Santa Cruz sent Munoz sprawling into the ropes and onto the canvas after connecting with a hard left hook to the head. Referee Vic Drakulich had seen enough and halted the bout.

Love Wins Debatable Split Decision

J'Leon Love (16-0, 8 KO's) won via ten-round split decision over Philadelphia's Gabriel Rosado (21-7, 13 KO's), claiming the vacant NABF Middleweight title. The official scores were 95-94 in favor of Rosado, while Love received tallies of 95-94 and an astonishing 97-92 scorecard.

Both Rosado and Love tried to establish control of the fight by throwing their left jabs in the first round. Love exhibited the edge in hand speed.

Love, 25, got his punches off before Rosado in round two, but Rosado nailed him with a flush right cross to close the round.

Rosado gained confidence in round three, backing Love up with the jab. With under a minute to go in the round, Rosado caught Love again with a timely right-hand shot to the chin.

In the beginning of the fourth round, both fighters connected with rights to the body. Rosado struck Love repeatedly with right crosses to the head.

Working behind a steady left jab, Love controlled the action in round five. Rosado, 27, displayed minor swelling under his right eye as the round concluded.

In a close sixth round, Love unleashed more combinations as Rosado furiously pressed the action. All of a sudden, Rosado landed a powerful right-hand shot that sent Love to the canvas with six seconds left in the round. It was the first time Love was floored in his professional career.

Love regained his composure at the start of round seven. Yet, Rosado got the better of the exchanges at the midway point, connecting once again with the overhand right.

Love and Rosado brawled toe-to-toe in the eighth round. After Love dropped his mouthpiece, he briefly stunned Rosado with a clean right cross.

Love exhibited a sturdy chin after Rosado hammered him with right hands in succession during the ninth round.

In a closely contested tenth round, Rosado landed the cleaner punches, striking Love with straight rights.

Arias Outpoints Livingston

22-year-old Luis Arias (5-0, 3 KO's) captured a six-round majority decision victory against Donyil Livingston, 28, (8-3-1, 4 KO's) in a highly competitive super middleweight contest. Official scores were 58-56, 58-55 and 57-57.

Both men unleashed vicious bombs early in round one. However, Arias displayed the edge in power.

In round two, Livingston utilized his left jab effectively. Late in the round, Arias caught Livingston with a series of overhand rights and rock-solid body shots, dramatically slowing down Livingston's assault.

With a minute left in round three, Livingston connected with a wide left hook, followed by a flush right hand to the head that momentarily stunned Arias.

Arias answered in round four, landing a brutal right uppercut as Livingston's back was against the ropes. Moments later, Arias scored with consecutive left hooks to the body.

The two battled fiercely in close quarters throughout the fifth round.

Despite absorbing some grueling punches during the course of the bout, Livingston closed very strong, backing up Arias late in the sixth round.

Jack Shines Versus Gbenga

Light heavyweight prospect Badou Jack, 29, improved his professional record to (14-0, 10 KO's) by stopping Michael Gbenga (13-8, 13 KO's) with a well-timed, right uppercut to the body in the third round. Time of the stoppage was 2:26.

After a slow-paced opening round, Jack landed a short, crisp right cross to Gbenga's jaw in the early moments of round two. Gbenga, 34, was pushing his punches all fight, leaving himself vulnerable to Jack's
counter shots.

Bellows Remains Unbeaten

Lanell Bellows (4-0-1, 4 KO's) kept his undefeated record intact, stopping Matt Garretson (2-1, 1 KO) in the fourth round.

Judah v Garcia Near Brawl

Donaire vs. Rigondeaux - Saturday, April 13th

From Left to Right: Trainer Mario Morales, Ivan Redkach and Manager Edward Gumashyan

Over the last decade, fighters hailing from Ukraine have burst onto the boxing scene, accruing noteworthy professional careers. Most notably are the Klitschko brothers - Vitali and younger brother Wladimir. Vitali Klitschko is the current WBC Heavyweight champion, while Wladimir Klitschko presently holds the WBA, IBF, WBO, IBO and Ring Magazine Heavyweight titles. However, there are many others, including super middleweight Vitali Tsypko, light middleweight Andrey Tsurkan, one-time WBA World Bantamweight champion Volodymyr Sydorenko, and his twin brother, light flyweight Valeriy Sydorenko, previous WBA Welterweight champion Viacheslav Senchenko, once WBO Junior Middleweight champion Sergiy Dzinziruk, and former WBA Light Welterweight champion Andriy Kotelnik. With all the aforementioned fighters at age thirty-five or older, boxing is thirsting for some new blood from Ukraine. Ivan "Junito" Redkach, a 26-year-old lightweight phenom, has punched his way to the top of the list.

Redkach was born in Shotska, Ukraine, a city with a population of approximately 85,500 in the north eastern part of the country, and home to the famed Ukrainian football team Impuls Shotska. Redkach is a fearless and relentless natural-born southpaw, who possesses deadly power in both hands. As an amateur, Redkach amassed a stellar record of 260 wins with only 40 losses, and was named as an alternate for his native country during the 2008 Beijing Olympics. So far as a professional, Redkach's record stands at a heart-stopping 14-0, 12 KO's with six of his knockouts occurring in the first round.

Redkach was turned on to the sport when his cousin, Yuri Liberov, took him to a boxing gym at the very young age of six.

"I broke my nose in sparring and it made me want to do it more," said Redkach. "I wanted to go back and improve my skills."

Along his journey, Redkach met his manager Edward Gumashyan, who has
worked with numerous Ukrainian and Russian fighters through the years. Gumashyan helped bring Redkach to the United States. Now, Redkach
resides and trains in Los Angeles, California.

"We like training in the warm, sunny weather," explained Gumashyan. "We also get better sparring on the west coast."

Redkach is a highly versatile athlete. He increases his
strength and conditioning through track and field activities, and
includes playing soccer as part of his training regimen. He also demonstrates
an adept ability to absorb a solid punch, which is something that cannot
be taught in any gym.

In preparation for his most recent victory, a first-round stoppage of
Sergio Rivera inside New York City's acclaimed Roseland Ballroom,
Redkach sparred a multitude of rounds with IBF Lightweight champion
Miguel Vazquez, and unbeaten Russian lightweight contender Denis
Shafikov.

Redkach's head trainer, Mario Morales, has been diligently working in
the gym with Redkach on improving combination punching and defense.

"We
want to utilize a variety of combinations, but the key is knowing when
to unleash them," described Morales. "I want him to double-up his right
jab, and be tricky with his right hooks and right uppercuts."

Today, Redkach recognizes his style was better suited for the professional
ranks. Yet, he believes his amateur pedigree makes him unconquerable.

Gumashyan is quite pleased with his young prizefighter's progress at the present time.

"His
maturity from his amateur days is probably the greatest resource in his
arsenal," acknowledged Gumashyan.

Not to say that other promising boxers are not dedicating themselves
properly to secure affluent careers, but Redkach exhibits a unique
desire to be successful that is seen vividly through his lionhearted approach
in the ring. He greatly admires the fighting styles of Fernando
Vargas, Miguel Cotto and the late Edwin Valero.

Where does Redkach's endless appetite for glory emanate?

"I was born with it," boasted Redkach. "I want to win a world title at 135 lbs. Then, I want every big name at 140 lbs."

Redkach added, "I'll take any fight they put in front of me!"

Gumashyan commented, "Whoever Lou Dibella wants us to
fight, we'll always be more than ready."

Redkach's ambition and propensity to reach the sport's apex appear firmly within his grasp in due time, and doing so will crown him Ukraine's next boxing virtuoso.

Broadway Boxing Results

In the main event, Ivan "Junito" Redkach (14-0, 12 KO's) continued to climb up the lightweight rankings, ousting Sergio Rivera (27-11-2, 17 KO's) at 2:06 of round one. Redkach, 26, utilized a bone-crushing right jab, along with smashing right hooks and straight lefts to discard Rivera. Rivera, 31, could not compete with the superior power and hand speed Redkach displayed. A pulverizing overhand left sent Rivera to one knee in the corner on a delayed reaction. Rivera stood up at the referee's count of nine, but was in no shape to proceed. This fight marked Redkach's fourth in a row at Manhattan's famed Roseland Ballroom.

22-year-old Travis Peterkin (7-0, 4 KO's) scored a third-round technical knockout against an extremely durable Thomas Turner (3-3, 2 KO's) in an exciting light heavyweight bout. Peterkin battered the 25-year-old from Caldwell, Idaho for the entire three minutes of the first round.

Turner was dazed several times in round two, suffering a bloody nose and massive swelling on the right side of his face. However, Peterkin could not knock him off his feet. Although Turner was eating a ton of leather, he stood his ground, throwing bombs right back at Peterkin.

Peterkin, a southpaw, blistered Turner with straight lefts in succession during round three. Finally, Peterkin's punches wore down Turner, as he discharged countless right hooks and left crosses until the contest was halted. It was Peterkin's third consecutive fight at the Roseland Ballroom.

Thomas Dulorme (17-1, 13 KO's) returned to the ring with a superb first-round knockout win over Eddie Brooks (9-4, 3 KO's) in a light welterweight showdown. Dulorme, 23, missed with a big left hook in the early moments, but delivered a crushing right-hand shot seconds later to Brooks' jaw. Brooks, 28, fell instantly to the canvas and was seriously hurt. Time of the knockout was 1:35.

This was Dulorme's first fight since sustaining his only loss at the hands of Carlos Abregu via TKO 7. It was the second time Brooks was kayoed in his professional career.

Brooklyn's Keisher McLeod-Wells (6-2, 1 KO) captured a six-round unanimous decision over Jacqueline Park (1-1) by scores of 59-55 and 58-56 twice in a super flyweight bout. After a lackluster couple rounds, the action picked up in round three when Park stepped up her aggression and landed a booming right cross.

Park continued to charge forward in rounds four and five, although round six clearly belonged to McLeod-Wells. As Park relentlessly pursued the knockout, McLeod-Wells bombarded her with sharp right crosses in close distance en route to victory.

Light middleweight Patrick Day (2-0, 2 KO's) forced Dominique Foster (2-2-1) to quit on his stool after just one round. Day hammered Foster with a succession of thunderous overhand rights for the duration of the contest. Previously, Foster had won two straight.

Manhattan's Louis Cruz (2-0, 2 KO's) upped his record, knocking out Desmond Brock (3-2, 2 KO's) at 1:12 of round three in a light welterweight match-up.

Brock had a great deal of trouble getting his punches off before Cruz, and sustained a minor cut on the corner of his right eye in round one.

Cruz, a former New York Golden Gloves champion, executed well behind his timely left jab, striking his rugged opponent frequently in the second round.

As both fighters unleashed fierce left hooks in the third round, Cruz's punch landed and left Brock on his back until the referee's count of six. After Brock rose to his feet, his legs were too shaky to continue the fight.

Super featherweight prospect Neuky Santelises (4-0, 3 KO's) of Washington Heights, New York needed just :46 seconds to defeat Denis Madriz (0-1-1) of San Francisco, California. After tagging Madriz with a rock-solid overhand right in the opening seconds, Santelises followed up with a barrage of punches that sent him staggering to the ropes. Santelises never let Madriz free, peppering him with a series of hooks and crosses until the bout was quickly halted.

Broadway Boxing Results

Dibella Entertainment's "Broadway Boxing" series featured another highly competitive fight card at the famed BB King Blues Club and Grill on an awfully cold night in New York City.

The main event spotlighted two exciting super bantamweights. Luis Rosa (12-0, 6 KO's) remained unbeaten, capturing a close eight-round unanimous decision over Derrick Wilson (9-4-2, 3 KO's). Official score totals were 77-75 twice and a peculiar 80-72 tally.

Rosa, a 21-year-old who resides in New Haven Connecticut, came out in round one throwing lightning-quick flurries. Wilson, 24, fought furiously during the exchanges, although Rosa's power shots had greater effect.

In round two, Rosa's punch output dipped slightly, enabling Wilson to land some thunderous shots. Wilson began to find his range and get into a rhythm.

Wilson looked very lively in the third round, beating Rosa to the punch using his adept reflexes. When Rosa moved into close quarters, he hammered Wilson in the body with some distinct left hooks.

Wilson seemed to land the cleaner, more effective punches in the middle rounds. Yet, Rosa relentlessly pressured him. When Wilson threw his left jab, it really neutralized Rosa's attack. He then was able to catch Rosa with combinations behind it. Both men showed durable chins and adequate stamina.

In the seventh and eighth rounds, Rosa continued to apply pressure, attempting to strike Wilson with well-timed counter punches. Wilson kept on throwing his left jab and using lateral movement. There were several occasions where both boxers traded brutal shots in close range until the final bell.

In the co-main event, light middleweight Yuri Foreman (29-2, 8 KO's) bounced back from a two-fight losing streak, winning a six-round unanimous decision versus Brandon Baue (12-9, 10 KO's). All three judges scored the bout 60-54.

Foreman, 32, excessively circled the ring exerting wasteful energy in the early rounds, but settled down around the fifth and sixth rounds. Nevertheless, Foreman displayed excellent footwork with a consistent left jab. Baue, 26, had a great deal of trouble closing the gap. Foreman steadily unleashed a myriad of punches at the right time en route to his first victory since 2009 against Daniel Santos. It was Foreman's first bout since suffering a defeat to Pawel Wolak on March 12, 2011.

26-year-old middleweight prospect Lamar Russ (12-0, 7 KO's) continued his winning ways, taking a unanimous decision against tenacious Jose Medina (17-12-1, 7 KO's) in a grueling fight. Official score totals were 78-74 twice and 77-75.

Russ exhibited exceptional balance and swift hands versus Medina, who was immensely determined. Medina, 29, does not possess the natural talent of Russ, but made up for it with his heart and courage from the opening bell.

As Russ showed the anticipated quicker reflexes in the beginning rounds, Medina tirelessly kept on trading with him. In round three, Russ tagged Medina with many rock-solid left hooks to the body. Yet, Medina absorbed the punches and pressed forward.

In the fourth round, Medina caught Russ with a precise right uppercut, backing him into the ropes.

Demonstrating an increased energy level, Medina landed countless overhand rights early in round five, briefly staggering Russ. Medina carried the momentum with him into round six, repeatedly hitting Russ where he found openings in his defensive guard.

During rounds seven and eight, Russ went back to utilizing his superior lateral movement and steady left jab. When Russ fought in the middle of the ring and threw punches off the jab, he was controlling the action.

Brooklyn's Heather Hardy (4-0) won via four-round unanimous decision versus Peggy Maerz (2-3-1) in a super bantamweight slugfest. Official scores were 40-36 and 39-37 twice.

Hardy, 30, came out aggressively, winging wild bombs at Maerz' head. Then, Hardy employed her jab to close distance as Maerz retreated.

In round two, Hardy let loose many wide shots, which enabled Maerz to connect with straight right-hand punches. Both fighters sustained swelling to their left cheeks after the third round had erupted into a brawl.

By round four, Hardy dispensed an array of damaging punches and was timing Maerz quite easily.

After the contest, Hardy became the first female fighter to ink a contract with Dibella Entertainment.

Light middleweight Delen Parsley (10-0, 3 KO's) registered his first knockout victory in seven fights when Tyrone Selders (8-5, 6 KO's) failed to answer the bell for round three. Parsley, 25, floored Selders at the bell in round one with a sharp, well-timed right cross. Parsley brought an onslaught of punches throughout round two that proved to be too much for Selders to overcome.

Skender Halili (8-0, 8 KO's) maintained his perfect record, defeating Roberto Crespo (4-3) via sixth-round TKO in a light middleweight bout.

The bout was a war from start to finish. Crespo managed to drop Halili with a timely right cross in round two. Halili answered by flooring Crespo with a short left uppercut late in round four. After that, Halili put Crespo on the canvas again with a cracking left hook.

In round six, Halili sent Crespo stumbling into the ropes and onto the canvas with a swift left uppercut. Time of the stoppage was 2:40.

Light heavyweight Patrick Day (1-0, 1 KO) won his pro debut, stopping Zachariah Kelley (1-2, 1 KO) at :59 of round one with a devastating overhand right.

Heavyweight Eugene Russell (1-0, 1 KO) won his pro debut, flooring Granson Clark (1-2, 1 KO) at 2:59 of round one with a barrage of deadly punches after dictating the pace throughout the short contest.

Super featherweight Neuky Santelises (3-0, 2 KO's) quickly ended the fight against Juan Javier Guerrero (0-1-1) at :22 in round two with a smashing overhand right cross, leaving Guerrero motionless for a brief period.

Dibella Entertainment's "Broadway Boxing" series returned to Manhattan's Roseland Ballroom Wednesday night, raising money for the victims of Hurricane Sandy. All proceeds from the show were donated to the American Red Cross. It was a thrilling card with many rising prospects and contenders showcasing their skills.

The main event featured light heavyweight contender Will Rosinsky (17-2, 9 KO's) versus Otis Griffin (24-11-2, 10 KO's). Rosinsky, 27, outpointed Griffin, 35, in a close affair via ten-round unanimous decision by official scores of 97-93 and 96-94 twice on the three ringside judges' scorecards. The bout was Rosinsky's first since dropping a ten-round unanimous decision to Kelly Pavlik earlier this year. The defeat was Griffin's fifth in his last six bouts.

Rosinsky used superior lateral movement to stay away from the taller and stronger Griffin for most of the fight, although he failed to put many combinations together in succession.

In the co-main event, Brooklyn's Gabriel "Tito" Bracero (21-1, 4 KO's) stopped Johnnie Edwards (15-6-1, 8 KO's) in the fourth round of a junior welterweight contest. Official time of the stoppage was 2:48.

Bracero, 31, sustained a minor cut alongside his left eye in round one, but managed to send Edwards, 33, into the ropes with a sharp left hook shortly thereafter. Referee Eddie Cotton halted the action in the fourth round after Bracero scored with a left jab to Edwards' face. The body language of Edwards suggested he took a thumb to his right eye.

The most exhilarating bout of the evening featured rising lightweight prospect Ivan Redkach (13-0, 11 KO's) squaring off against Brooklyn's Edward Valdez (11-9-2, 8 KO's). Redkach, a 26-year-old southpaw from the Ukraine now making his home in Los Angeles, CA, won an eight-round unanimous decision by scores of 79-73 and 78-74 twice. Entering the fight with Redkach, Valdez, 34, had won eight of nine bouts, including six straight.

Valdez easily proved to be Redkach's toughest opponent to date. Redkach held a tremendous edge in power and hand speed, although he could not faze Valdez. In the opening round, Redkach struck Valdez with many blistering shots. Yet, Valdez found a home for his overhand right, striking Redkach frequently after he finished his combinations.

In the second round, Valdez ate numerous crisp left crosses and right hooks to the body from Redkach. Valdez remained undeterred, continuing to seek openings in Redkach's defensive guard.

After an explosive round two, Redkach took a small step back in round three. Valdez momentarily stunned Redkach in the corner with flush right-hand shot. Redkach absorbed the punch and survived the onslaught that followed.

Redkach opened the fourth round as the aggressor, relentlessly stalking Valdez. Despite getting peppered with a multitude of punches from different angles by Redkach, Valdez was still connecting with his overhand right. No matter what Redkach did, he could not shake Valdez. Yet, Valdez displayed some swelling under his right eye toward the end of the round.

Valdez briefly stunned Redkach again in close quarters during round five near the corner.

In a highly-competitive sixth round, Redkach began to beat Valdez to the punch. At this time, Valdez sported a slight abrasion above his right eyebrow.

While Valdez demonstrated a sturdy chin, Redkach tattooed him with sweltering punches in round seven, leaving him with massive swelling below his left eye.

Redkach got a little wreckless in the eighth round, winging shots from a variety of angles and leaving himself open for sharp counter-punches. Instead of attempting to systematically break Valdez down, Redkach tried too hard for the knockout against a seasoned journeyman.

Redkach exhibited a ton of talent, and should be able to benefit in other future bouts from his ring experience against Valdez.

Other Action

Welterweight contender Ionut Ion (30-2, 17 KO's) stopped Franklin Gonzalez (15-12, 10 KO's) at :11 of the fifth round with a left cross to the body. Ion, a 31-year-old southpaw, got his punches off first, repeatedly hitting Gonzalez with a series of right hooks and left crosses to the body during the course of the fight.

Travis "The Notorious" Peterkin (6-0, 3 KO's) captured a four-round unanimous decision versus Eddie Tigs (1-5-2, 1 KO) in light heavyweight match-up. Peterkin received scores of 40-35 on all scorecards. Peterkin, a southpaw from Brooklyn, NY, sent Tigs sprawling into the ropes with a counter left cross to the jaw in round three.

In a scintillating junior welterweight showdown, Mikkel Lespierre (1-0-1, 1 KO) and Cornelius Whitlock (0-0-1) battled to a four-round, unanimous draw. All three ringside judges scored the bout 37-37.

Lespierre, a tall southpaw fighting out of Brooklyn, NY, walked Whitlock down in round one.

A right hook-left cross combination snapped Whitlock's head back in the second round, as Lespierre's fans erupted in the audience.

After visibly dropping two rounds to the hometown fighter, Whitlock stormed back into the fight, catching Lespierre off guard with a clean right-hand shot. Lespierre recovered from the flash knockdown, but Whitlock caught him again with another vicious right-hand punch near the end of the round that sent Lespierre swiftly to the canvas.

Following the consecutive knockdowns in round three, Lespierre had enough energy left to stay away from Whitlock in round four. Whitlock did not capitalize on his opportunity from the previous round, appearing gassed himself.

Junior middleweight Akima Stocks improved her record to 5-0, 3 KO's, defeating Marva Dash (0-2) 40-36 on all scorecards in the only female bout of the evening.

Heavyweight Jarrell "Big Baby" Miller (4-0, 4 KO's) kept his perfect record intact, stopping Tyrone Gibson (1-4, 1 KO) with a savage right uppercut at 1:25 of the second round.

Junior lightweight Danny Calzada (5-6-2, 1 KO) upset Allan Benitez (7-2, 1 KO) via six-round unanimous decision. Official score totals read 60-54 and 59-55 twice. Calzada, 22-years-old from New Mexico, landed countless, well-timed right hands off the left jab. Calzada moved efficiently around the ring, while Benitez, a 21-year-old from Texas, seemingly took too much time looking for counter-punches, especially his left hook.

Junior welterweight prospect Maurice Hooker upped his record to 7-0-1, 5 KO's, winning a four-round unanimous decision against Cameron Kreal (2-4-2). Official scores were tallied at 40-34 twice and 39-35.

Hooker, 23, who is very rangy and statuesque, threw whipping punches off a timely left jab and floored Kreal with a concrete right cross in the third round.

Austin "No Doubt" Trout (26-0, 14 KO's) retained his WBA World Light Middleweight title, capturing a twelve-round unanimous decision versus Miguel Cotto (37-4, 30 KO's). Official scores were 119-109 and 117-111 twice. It was Trout's fourth successful defense of his title since defeating Rigoberto Alvarez via twelve-round unanimous decision in 2011. The defeat was Cotto's first (7-1, 4 KO's) at Madison Square Garden.

Trout, a 27-year-old southpaw from Las Cruces, New Mexico, performed sensationally behind a consistent right jab. Cotto, 32, who started his professional career as a junior welterweight, had a tremendous amount of trouble dealing with the naturally bigger Trout.

In the first round, Cotto attacked Trout's body efficiently, although Trout's maneuvering confused the Puerto Rican warrior.

Trout began to settle in round two, beating Cotto to the punch with sharp combinations.

Cotto stepped up his assault in round three, smothering Trout's shots and applying constant pressure.

During round four, Cotto continued to work diligently. Yet, it was apparent Trout presented an crucial edge in hand speed.

Trout struck Cotto with a hard low blow in round five. Cotto bounced back from the low, straight left and kept fighting at a high level.

In round six, Trout methodically backed Cotto up using his size advantage, along with a busy right jab.

The seventh round became the turning point of the fight. Trout really controlled the ebb and flow, while Cotto's punch output slightly decreased. Trout also created more angles, keeping Cotto off-balance.

As Cotto came on in round nine, Trout hit him with another low blow, although it appeared to land on the belt line. From this point, Trout's punches caused additional swelling to Cotto's face.

Trout tagged Cotto with a sharp left uppercut in the eleventh round, momentarily slowing the challenger. Cotto's plan of suppressing Trout's offense did not have the anticipated results due to the champion's size. Cotto's punches simply did not have the same effect on a bigger man.

Cotto fought valiantly in the twelfth round, but Trout had him in danger whenever he threw multiple punches.

Cotto gave a tremendous effort given the size disadvantage he encountered, in conjunction with facing a superior ring technician.

Jayson Velez (20-0, 15 KO's) put on a brilliant performance, dismantling Salvador Sanchez II (30-5-3, 18 KO's) in just three rounds in a featherweight match-up. Prior to the fight, Sanchez, 27, was never kayoed, and had amassed an 11-fight win streak.

Making his second appearance at Madison Square Garden, the 24-year old Velez owned a decisive edge in hand speed. Velez was very fluid with his punches, hammering Sanchez repeatedly with crisp combinations. Early in round two, Velez wobbled Sanchez after landing a left hook, followed by two right crosses in succession. Near the end of the round, Velez floored Sanchez after connecting with a vicious left uppercut to the head.

Ten seconds into round three, Velez put Sanchez on the canvas with a scintillating right uppercut. After landing another overhand right, referee Harvey Dock stopped the fight. Time of the stoppage was :38.

Velez is tentatively scheduled to face Mexico's hard-hitting Daniel Ponce De Leon (44-4, 35 KO's) next for De Leon's WBC Featherweight championship.

Danny "The Miracle Man" Jacobs (24-1, 21 KO's) forced Chris "The Irish Ghost" Fitzpatrick (15-3, 6 KO's) to quit on his stool after five, one-sided rounds in a middleweight contest. Jacobs has now accumulated four straight victories since being TKO'd in five rounds by Dmitry Pirog in 2010. On the other hand, Fitzpatrick has dropped three of his last four bouts.

Jacobs, 25, started very slowly, but picked up the pace quickly in round three after an accidental headbutt left Fitzpatrick with a wide gash on top of his head. Seeing Fitzpatrick bleeding, Jacobs overwhelmed him with a barrage of swift combinations. Fitzpatrick stayed in Jacobs' face, although he could not compete with the Brooklyn fighter's arsenal.

In round five, Jacobs continued with his onslaught, peppering Fitzpatrick with sweeping right-hand shots and deadly left hooks to the head and body.

Jacobs is targeting February 9, 2013 as his next appearance in the ring. It is a phenomenon that Jacobs is even walking, let alone boxing. 19 months ago, Jacobs suffered from thoracic spinal cancer and was paralyzed from the waist down. Following six hours of surgery to remove a gigantic tumor that wrapped around his spinal column, as well as completing extensive physical therapy, Jacobs is back and ready to claim a world title.

Paul "The Pittsburgh Kid" Spadafora (47-0-1, 19 KO's) won his second fight this year, securing a ten-round unanimous decision against rugged Solomon Egberime (22-4-1, 11 KO's) in a welterweight battle. Spadafora won by scores of 98-91, 97-94 and 100-90.

Spadafora, 37, utilized terrific feints and worked behind a reliable right jab to dictate the pace of the fight. At times, Egberime landed some firm right-hand shots. Yet, Spadafora's peerless reflexes allowed him to roll with Egberime's punches to avoid the full effect.

Both men battled blow-for-blow in round four. Spadafora remained poised, and ripped off a series of methodical combinations. Spadafora's right jab really made it difficult for the 34-year-old to get into a groove.

Although Spadafora was decisively putting rounds in the bank, Egberime undoubtedly made him work.

In the eighth and ninth rounds, Spadafora's punch volume dropped and Egberime took full advantage, connecting with blistering right-hand shots to the body and head. Spadafora acquired a small cut under his right eye. However, Spadafora stepped up the pace in round ten, nailing Egberime with an accumulation of punishing shots off the right jab to close the show strong.

With the victory, Spadafora may have cemented a clash against Brooklyn's Paul Malignaggi for Malignaggi's WBA World Welterweight title in the near future.

In the co-main event, lightweight Monty Meza-Clay (34-3, 21 KO's) defeated Emmanuel Lucero (26-13-1, 14 KO's) by an eight-round, unanimous decision in their second meeting via scores of 77-75 twice and 80-72. Lucero has now lost seven fights in a row. Previously, Meza-Clay captured an eight-round, majority decision versus Lucero on July 14, 2012.

Meza-Clay, 31, and Lucero, 34, battled in close quarters, striking each other with brutal body shots the entire fight. Both fighters displayed similar styles, which enabled them to engage in a fan-friendly slugfest.

Peter Oluoch (12-6-2, 6 KO's), 34, of Nairobi, Kenya, handed Jake "The Bull" Giuriceo, 27, of Youngstown, Ohio, (16-2-1, 3 KO's) his second consecutive loss, winning a five-round, split decision in a highly-competitive, junior welterweight showdown.

Oluoch's stiff left jab, along with a distinct height and reach advantage kept Giuriceo off-balance in the first two rounds. Giuriceo attempted to close the distance, but ate many punches in his effort doing so because he lacked a steady jab. However, Giuriceo began to find his rhythm in round three, unleashing a higher punch output.

In round four, Oluoch successfully connected with countless, flush right crosses to Giuriceo's head.

During the early moments of the fifth round, Oluoch discharged a vicious right uppercut, snapping Giuriceo's head back. Giuriceo continued to employ a relentless attack, but Oluoch was much more consistent finding the target.

At the end of the round, the ringside physician deemed Giuriceo unable to continue due to a cut sustained from an accidental clash of heads. Official scores were 49-46 and 48-47 in favor of Oluoch, and 48-47 for Giuriceo.

Morgan "Big Chief" Fitch (8-0, 4 KO's) remained unbeaten, stopping Cameron Allen (4-12, 2 KO's) in the first round of a super middleweight contest. Fitch, 29, hit Allen with a paralyzing left hook to the liver. Time of the stoppage was 2:28. Originally from Louisiana, Fitch now resides in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

In a welterweight match-up, Bill Hutchinson, 23, (5-1-2, 3 KO's) stopped Jose Caraballo (5-5, 1 KO) at :39 of the second round. After landing numerous left hooks to Caraballo's head in round one, Hutchinson dropped him with a powerful overhand right. Moments later, Hutchinson landed a rock-solid, overhand right that sent Caraballo sprawling to the floor as the bell rang ending round one. Caraballo did not last much longer. Hutchinson struck Caraballo with an overwhelming right cross-left hook combination, prompting the referee to halt the action.

Joey "The Hitman" Holt (1-0, 1 KO) scored a first-round knockout in his professional debut against Alan Moore in a light middleweight contest (3-18, 2 KO's). Holt, who is also an MMA fighter, floored Moore three times, as the bout was halted due to the 3-knockdown rule in West Virginia.

Spadafora vs. Egberime Weigh-In

Matchmaker Joe Quiambao put together another exciting card for Dibella Entertainment last night at Manhattan's historic Roseland Ballroom.

The main event featured rising light heavyweight contender "Irish" Seanie Monaghan (15-0, 10 KO's), who flattened George Armenta (14-10, 11 KO's) in the third round with a crushing right-hand shot.

Monaghan, 30, controlled the pace from the beginning behind a steady left jab. Just as the bell sounded to end round two, Monaghan connected with an overhand right that put Armenta swiftly on the canvas.

After Monaghan landed a right-left combination, Armenta began to throw a right hand when Monaghan stepped forward and struck him with a short right cross. Armenta could not beat the ten count. The knockout blow looked similar to Mike Tyson smashing Frans Botha in the fifth round of their epic heavyweight contest in 1999.

South African super middleweight Thomas Oosthuizen (20-0-1, 13 KO's) kept his unbeaten record intact, winning the IBO Super Middleweight championship via twelve-round unanimous decision versus Rowland Bryant (16-2, 11 KO's). Official scores were 118-110 and 117-111 twice.

Oosthuizen, a southpaw, dominated the fight when he landed combinations off his double jab. When he didn't double up on the jab, Bryant successfully connected with thunderous shots, especially overhand rights. Bryant pressed the action, as Oosthuizen utilized his superior lateral movement. Both men displayed a sturdy chin, giving fans an excellent co-main event. The fight was closer than the official scores indicated.

Junior featherweight Heather "The Heat" Hardy won her professional debut against Mikayla Nebel (0-3) in a slugfest. Hardy survived a scare in round one when she was floored by a flush overhand right. Hardy recovered quickly and finished the round strong. In the final round, Nebel appeared gassed while Hardy kept unleashing bombs. All three judges scored the fight 38-37 in favor of Hardy.

Other Bouts

Brooklyn's Boyd Melson (8-1, 3 KO's) earned a hard fought, six-round unanimous decision versus Khalik Memminger (6-9-3, 3 KO's) in a junior middleweight bout. Melson tallied 59-55 on all three official scorecards.

Floriano Pagliara (13-4-2, 6 KO's) battled Willie Villanueva (10-4-0, 2 KO's) to a six-round, split-decision draw in a back and forth lightweight match. Official scores were 57-57, 58-56 for Pagliara and 58-56 for Villanueva.

Surprisingly, Pagliara was the aggressor and Villanueva used more efficient lateral movement. In the first round, Pagliara did not employ his left jab much. Villanueva closed the fourth round with a vicious body shot, as Pagliara lay against the ropes. During the fifth round, Villanueva hammered Pagliara with a crisp right cross-left hook combination to the head. Pagliara continually got tagged with clean right-hand shots and had trouble fighting on the inside. Both men exhibited bloody faces when the final bell sounded.

Junior welterweight Zachary Ochoa improved to (2-0, 2 KO's), stopping Cody Osbourne (0-3) with a lightning-quick left jab in round one. Official time of the stoppage was :42.

Jersey City's Jonathan Cepeda (12-0, 11 KO's) stopped Orphius Waite (7-5-2, 5 KO's) at 1:42 of round one in a super middleweight match-up. Cepeda knocked Waite down with a savage right-hand blow. Then, a left hook sent Waite stumbling into the ropes and onto the canvas. After rising to his feet a second time, Cepeda nailed him with a rock-solid, right cross-left hook combination and the bout was immediately halted.

In a crowd-pleasing, junior welterweight bout, Allan Benitez (7-1, 1 KO) won a six-round, unanimous decision against veteran Osnel Charles (9-4-1, 1 KO). Official scores were 59-55 twice and 58-56. Both fighters landed solid punches throughout the fight, but neither man severely hurt the other. Benitez is trained by the well-known Robert Garcia.

Martinez vs. Chavez Jr. Heats Up In The Big Apple

Today, at the Edison Ballroom in New York City, Sergio "Maravilla" Martinez (49-2-2, 28 KO's) and undefeated WBC Middleweight titleholder Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr. (46-0-1, 32 KO's) continued their media tour, building up their highly anticipated September 15th showdown scheduled at the historic Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. Martinez, 37, brings a 5-fight winning streak into the contest, while the 26-year-old Chavez, Jr. is coming off his most impressive professional win, a seventh-round stoppage against Andy Lee.

Lou Dibella, C.E.O. of Dibella Entertainment and promoter of Martinez, expressed his feelings about this fan-friendly, mega-fight occurring in a little more than two months.

"It took a half-hour to make the deal," declared Dibella. "If you decide to give the fans what they deserve, it's not rocket science. This is the best fight you can make in the middleweight division."

"We're happy to confirm the fight," stated Martinez' longtime trainer Pablo Sarmiento through translator Sampson Lewkowicz. "I don't know his (Chavez) plan, but he will have a major problem confronting Sergio. We're going to shut his big mouth and bring the title back to the right champion."

Fernando Beltran, President of Zanfer Promotions and member of Chavez' entourage, believes both men are clearly the two best middleweights in the world at the present time.

"On September 15th, the public is the winner of this fight," exclaimed Beltran.

Later, Beltran labeled Martinez a "clown" and Lou Dibella swiftly responded.

"We'll be the ones smiling after the 15th," said Dibella.

The legendary Julio Cesar Chavez, who turned 50-years-old today, also voiced his opinion on his son's opponent.

"I don't like his style," claimed Chavez Sr. "He's a runner. He (Martinez) talks a lot of bullshit and he'll have to eat his words on September 15th."

Before he gave his thoughts on Chavez Jr., Martinez noted he is dedicating this fight to Monique McClain, who he befriended after learning she was being harassed in school for her skin color and having a different hairstyle.

Then, he turned his attention to Chavez Jr.

"He finally said yes and won't run like a chicken," boasted Martinez.

After that, Chavez Jr. stepped up to the podium and mocked Martinez' style.

"I want to prove I am the best middleweight in the world," acknowledged Chavez. "Martinez has been dancing (a reference to Martinez appearing on Dancing with the Stars in Argentina). His only way to beat me is dancing. I think he found his real profession as a ballerina."

Chavez Jr. added, "I am glad he found another profession. After September 15th, he'll need to find something to do. I promise I will beat Martinez and it will be a great fight!"

("Irish" Seanie Monaghan sporting his new WBC Continental Americas Light Heavyweight Title)

The anticipation of a slugfest turns fans voracious, and "Irish" Seanie Monaghan (14-0, 9 KO's) satisfied his hometown fans at the Roseland Ballroom in New York City, delivering a TKO at 2:30 of round eight against durable Romaro "The Saint" Johnson (11-7-1, 6 KO's), claiming the WBC Continental Americas Light Heavyweight title.

"He was a tough guy," Monaghan explained. "I sparred over forty rounds to prepare for him."

During the last thirty seconds of the opening round, Monaghan pummeled Johnson with five unanswered body shots that set the tone for the rest of the fight.

Monaghan, 30, showcased an improved defense. Connecting with a solid overhand right in round two, he slid to his right after he made contact to avoid a counter-punch.

In round three, Monaghan threw and landed a furious barrage of punches to the body and head, leaving the veteran Johnson briefly stunned. Monaghan searched for openings and found the target without difficulty.

Johnson took many punishing blows, especially in round six, although he never went down. After a succession of precise combination punching from Monaghan, Johnson started to display wobbly legs.

In round eight, Johnson walked straight into a vicious right uppercut by Monaghan and was badly hurt. Monaghan jumped on the opportunity in front of him, connecting with a rock-solid left hook to Johnson's face. He followed up with numerous punches to the body and head, prompting veteran referee Eddie Cotton to halt the action.

Welterweights

In the co-main event of the evening, Puerto Rican sensation Thomas Dulorme, 22, (15-0, 12 KO's) thrilled fans once again with his crowd-pleasing style, winning by TKO after the completion of the seventh round against an extremely tough Alberto Herrera (8-7-1, 5 KO's).

Dulorme possesses deadly punching power with both hands, as a resilient Herrera discovered after the opening bell. Dulorme was able to strike Herrera repeatedly with lead right hands and crisp, devastating left hooks that looked awfully comparable to another Puerto Rican legend - Felix "Tito" Trinidad.

By the fourth round, Herrera's face appeared inflamed from the leather let loose by Dulorme. Still, Herrera persisted to apply pressure, but could not match Dulorme's proficient hand speed and exceptional coordination.

Dulorme is an outstanding raw talent, although he needs to add a sturdy left jab to his arsenal in order to launch his career to the next level. Right now, Dulorme walks toward his opponents a little too often without setting up a steady left jab, but has gotten away with it early in his professional career due to his extraordinary, natural talent.

Light Heavyweights

Ozone Park's Will Rosinsky (16-1, 9 KO's) soundly defeated Aaron Pryor, Jr. (16-6, 11 KO's) via eight-round unanimous decision. Rosinsky received scores of 78-74 and 79-73 twice from the official ringside judges.

Rosinsky, 27, battered Pryor, 33, throughout the fight with a relentless, violent body attack. Pryor did not have the power to keep Rosinsky from imposing his will. Pryor was in excellent physical condition to absorb Rosinsky's colossal assault, but the only success he exhibited was temporarily catching Rosinsky near the ropes when he was at a safe distance, employing his height and reach advantage.

Junior Welterweights

(Trainer Tommy Gallagher with Gabriel Bracero)

Gabriel "Tito" Bracero (19-1, 3 KO's) won an eight-round unanimous decision versus Jermaine "Thunder" White (17-5, 9 KO's). Official scores were 80-71, 79-72 and 77-74.

In the first round, Bracero, 31, sustained a small cut on the corner of his left eye resulting from a clash of heads. After that, Bracero connected with a clean, overhand right mid-round.

During round two, there was a second clash of heads. Now, Bracero had blood gushing down from his left cheek. However, Bracero maintained his composure, and continued to throw and land accurate punches behind a well-timed left jab. After the round, swelling emerged under White's right eye.

(Jermaine White waiting for the bout to continue while Bracero's cuts were being examined by the ringside physician)

White, who fought in a crouching, conventional stance, was deducted one point from referee Harvey Dock after a third clash of heads left Bracero with a cut on his forehead. Bracero closed the round strong, connecting with a sweeping left hook to White's head.

(Ringside doctor examines Gabriel Bracero)

In the fourth round, Bracero staggered White with a short right-cross and followed it with a powerful left hook that sent White into the ropes.

Both fighters fought fiercely in a highly competitive round five. Still, White was clearly losing to Bracero, who was dictating the bout with his superior lateral movement.

White began to fatigue in round six, and started to unleash slapping punches in the clinches.

Bracero used tricky angles to set up a crisp, right-hand shot that momentarily stopped White in his tracks during round eight.

Bracero addressed the headbutts briefly after the contest.

"The headbutts had no effect at all on my performance tonight," exclaimed Bracero.

Heavyweights

Sonya Lamonakis (6-0-2, 1 KO) and Tiffany Woodard (4-6-3, 3 KO's) battled to a six-round draw. Official scores were 58-56 for Lamonakis, 58-56 for Woodard and 57-57 even. It was the third meeting between the two combatants. Lamonakis won via six-round unanimous decision in their first encounter, and captured a six-round majority decision in their second one.

Lamonakis utilized numerous lead right hands to Woodard's head and left hooks to her body, but lacked the consistent left jab she displayed in their first two bouts.

"I couldn't reach her with the jab tonight," stated Lamonakis. "I started to catch her with big shots, so I just kept throwing."

Junior Lightweights

Brooklyn's Floriano Pagliara (13-4-1, 7 KO's) outpointed Rynell Griffin (6-10-2, 2 KO's) over six, one-sided rounds. All three ringside judges scored the bout 59-55 in favor of Pagliara.

Griffin sustained a minor cut near his right eye, and was stunned when Pagliara tagged him with a flush left hook to the head in the fifth round.

Junior Welterweights

Junior welterweight prospect Ivan Redkach, 26, (11-0, 10 KO's) stopped Dedrick Bell, 28, (7-15, 5 KO's) at 1:55 of round one. The victory marked the Ukrainian's fourth professional knockout in the first round.

Living The Dream Has Its Challenges

By: Michael Gerard Seiler

Jason "Houdini" Lundgren arrived in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1998 from a small town in the Pacific Northwest - homeless. Carrying a duffel bag on his shoulder with a meager $5 in his pocket, Jason wandered outside the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino. He noticed a major boxing card was taking place there that night. People dressed elegantly were getting out of their limousines and heading inside to witness an entertaining night of prizefighting at the famed boxing venue. At the time, Jason did not know when or where he would receive his next meal, but he had many dreams and hope, envisioning one day to be one of those chic individuals exiting the limousines and entering the front doors of the illustrious hotel. Little did he know at the time this would lead to a career in the promotional world of boxing.

"I didn't know anyone when I got to Las Vegas," said Lundgren. "I wanted to be just like all those pretty people getting out of the pretty limos. I just kept dreaming."

Prior to his arrival in Las Vegas, however, Jason hitchhiked for six days down to Mesa, Arizona. He attended Dobson High School for his senior year, although he did not graduate. Instead, he elected to attend the Phoenix Job Corps, acquiring his GED while studying sales.

During his stay in Arizona, Jason met a woman that radically changed his life. Diane Onofrio, Urban Outreach’s Program Director in Tempe, Arizona, met Jason approximately fifteen years ago when she was just a staff member. When their paths crossed, she really believed Jason could turn his life around, and he sensed her devotion toward him.

“The most inspiring thing Diane did for me was give me her time,” admitted Lundgren. “She gave me the inspiration to be somebody and to assist others in need.”

Some of Jason’s most difficult hardships occurred on the streets in Central City East, an area in downtown Los Angeles, California also known as Skid Row. Living outside the Midnight Mission due to full capacity, Jason was number 579 to receive one piece of bread, one hot dog and a cup of water through homeless feeding.

After watching the movie "The Perfect Storm", Jason became deeply inspired to turn into a commercial fisherman. His friends thought he was crazy for thinking about fishing living in the desert. Nevertheless, Jason started to dream and took action to get there. Within six months, Jason emerged as a Bering Sea Fisherman among the big processing vessels on the Amaknak Island, which is better known as Dutch Harbor in Unalaska, Alaska. He was contracted to work 4 months each year for two consecutive years.

Following his stint as a commercial fisherman, Jason attended classes in 2002 at the College of Southern Nevada. During one of his classes, Jason decided on developing his own small business. Eventually, Jason dropped out of college and established himself as a fine salesman, selling high-priced knives and swords. After a brief period, Jason was bored being a salesman and wanted to venture into another industry.

In 2007, Jason applied at Bell Limousine, following the vision he owned when he first reached Nevada. The company was contracted to drive Miss America and Miss Universe together to the grand opening of Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. Owner Brent Bell and General Manager Breck Opecka gave Jason the assignment.

“There I was driving all the pretty people,” exclaimed Lundgren. “I actually dreamt about being a limo driver and applied. I kept taking action.”

By the end of the night, Jason was driving home George Maloof, Jr., owner of the Sacramento Kings and minority owner of the Palms Resort Casino.

“The ride for him was free because my company had a contract for the grand opening,” stated Lundgren. “Still, he tipped me $300 for a 15-minute, 8-mile ride. I was so grateful.”

News travels fast in the limousine industry. Jason was much admired after working the night of Planet Hollywood’s grand opening. Subsequently, he received a phone call from their front desk requesting his services. Next, Jason found himself driving Robert Earl, who was the brains behind the formation of Planet Hollywood, as well as high-profile actor Jason Statham. Statham is best known for his roles in “The Transporter” movies.

“Planet Hollywood has been absolutely magical for me,” boasted Lundgren. “Here I was totally living my dream.”

Along his journey, Jason met Marshall Enzer at a gathering of mutual friends. Enzer has worked the corner as a cutman for numerous world champion boxers, including Michael Nunn, Gabriel and Rafael Ruelas, Hasim Rahman, Joel Casamayor, Yuriorkis Gamboa, Zab Judah and countless others. Enzer befriended Jason and introduced him to Javier Zendejas.

Javier Zendejas, along with Jose Garcia, were part of the ring entourage and personal staff of former IBF & WBA Light Middleweight champion, “Ferocious” Fernando Vargas. Zendejas and Garcia became very close with Lundgren, teaching him the business of boxing. One day, Jason was recommended for a job on Vargas’ personal staff as a security guard. He jumped at the opportunity.

“I was truly honored to be included and welcomed to their team,” declared Lundgren. “To this day, I consider Javier and Jose my hermanos.”

In early 2009, Vargas promoted a boxing/MMA event in Primm, Nevada under his company, Vargas Entertainment Promotions. On the way to Buffalo Bill’s Casino, Vargas elected to display his clothing line outside the entrance, but was worried it would not get done. Could Vargas’ merchandise get set up in time for the show?

Lundgren commented, “I have it all under control. Don’t you worry about anything. I’ll take care of it.”

“Dang Houdini,” Vargas shouted. The nickname stuck with Jason ever since their car ride in the desert.

Marshall Enzer (far left), Fernando Vargas (Middle), Jason Lundgren (far right)

Through the years, Jason established a solid friendship with former WBA Super Featherweight and WBC Light Welterweight world boxing champion Roger Mayweather, who is widely recognized at this time as the head trainer of his undefeated nephew, Floyd Mayweather, Jr.

“Roger Mayweather is a walking encyclopedia and has taught me so much about the history of the sport,” explained Lundgren.

Jason also made strong acquaintances with three-time world kickboxing champion Yoel Judah. Yoel is the father and trainer of former undisputed world welterweight boxing champion, Zab “Super” Judah.

“Yoel has given me tremendous insight on the business end of things from all of his years involved in boxing,” noted Lundgren.

Jason Lundgren (far left), Roger Mayweather (middle), Yoel Judah (far right)

Additionally, Vargas promoted a card on November 6, 2009 at the Palms Resort Casino featuring Zab Judah, Joel Casamayor and Ron Johnson.

Cruiserweight Ronald “The American Dream” Johnson, who sports an 11-1, 3 KO’s professional record, encouraged Jason to dream big in life and gave him a job as a Site Coordinator for his promotional company, American Dream Presents. Johnson founded the company with his childhood friend “Awesome” Aaron Williams (21-3-1, 14 KO’s), also a professional boxer in the cruiserweight division.

“Johnson gave me the confidence to dream bigger than I ever had,” said Lundgren. “He told me that if you can dream it, you can do it. And that there’s no limit to what one can dream.”

Today, Lundgren is a co-founder with Ron Johnson of Dream Vegas, an organization created to assist homeless youth and help make their dreams come true. He repeatedly gives motivational speeches, retelling his story to convince younger people to never give up hope.

“I lived homeless on and off my whole life,” revealed Lundgren. “I am a true survivor. I want to carry the message of hope and facilitate people’s dreams. I learned to hope and dream, and it brought me to where I am right now. I want to give back to the homeless youth. The I-HELP program in Tempe, Arizona, the Homebase Youth Services in Phoenix, Arizona and the Shannon West Homeless Youth Center in Las Vegas, Nevada all comforted me. Now, I want to show that I have faith in these teens. They have the rest of their lives to become whatever they want in life.”

All one has to do is keep dreaming, and a little 'magic' always helps.

By: Michael Gerard Seiler

Floyd Mayweather, Jr. (43-0, 26 KO's) and Miguel Cotto (37-3, 30 KO's) put on a brilliant fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada this past Saturday night. Despite the official scorecards having Mayweather winning with wide margins of 118-110 and 117-111 twice from ringside judges Robert Hoyle, Dave Moretti and Patricia Morse Jarman respectively, the bout was highly competitive. Cotto turned out to be the stiffest challenge Mayweather has encountered as a 16-year professional. Cotto struck Mayweather with several grueling punches, giving boxing's pound-for-pound king a bloody nose during the fight and leaving him with some minor swelling on his face after it concluded. If Manny Pacquiao defeats Timothy Bradley on June 9th, a bout against Mayweather still seems extremely unlikely. Maybe, Mayweather and Cotto should battle again? Perhaps at the "World's Most Famous Arena" - Madison Square Garden in late 2012 or early 2013?

Floyd Mayweather expressed an interest in fighting five more bouts before his career is over. Mayweather has become an elite HBO pay-per-view fighter, which according to him means it takes at least 6 months to build a fight to the general public. At 35-years-old, it is rather difficult to imagine Mayweather entering the squared circle five more times. Before Mayweather can return to action, however, he has to overcome his next obstacle, an 87-day jail sentence beginning on June 1st.

Mayweather pleaded no-contest to a reduced domestic violence charge, and no-contest on two harassment charges for supposedly assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Josie Harris, while two of their children were present. Originally, Mayweather faced a maximum 34-year jail term. Mayweather received a 3-day credit and three months were suspended on a 6-month sentence by Nevada judge Melissa Saragosa.

Joe Louis, Rocky Marciano, "Sugar" Ray Robinson, Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier, Jerry Quarry, George Foreman, Ken Norton, Roberto Duran, Ken Buchanan, Carlos Monzon and countless others have exchanged blows inside New York's famed Madison Square Garden at some point in their outstanding careers. 1964 Ring Magazine Fighter of the Year and hall of famer Emile Griffith, a 3-time welterweight world champion and 2-time middleweight world champion, holds the record for most fights in Madison Square Garden with 28. So far, Mayweather is unmistakably the finest boxer of this early 21st century. Yet, he has never laced up the gloves in the 18,200-seat mecca of boxing, a place Miguel Cotto has never tasted defeat. It would be a tremendous test for Mayweather to conquer Cotto in front of a zealous Puerto Rican fan base in the United States’ #1 media market.

Mayweather is no stranger to fighting in someone's hometown in a PPV blockbuster. In his HBO PPV debut on June 25, 2005, Mayweather annihilated the late Arturo "Thunder" Gatti in six brutal rounds in Atlantic City, NJ. While Cotto may have come up short on the official scorecards, he pushed Mayweather on Cinco de Mayo closer to the brink of defeat than anyone else had done beforehand. Previously, Mayweather wanted Cotto to fight at a weight comfortable for him. Now that Mayweather has won, why not increase the interest for a second fight by having Cotto fight in front of his fans in a prestigious building where he maintains an unbeaten streak? Fighting a rematch in the intense and demanding aura of Madison Square Garden contains extra spice after a spirited first fight.

Timing is everything. Aside from a confrontation with Manny Pacquiao, what other match-up for Floyd Mayweather presents a superior alternative financially and tactically than battling Miguel Cotto again? After all, Cotto was the next best option behind Pacquiao for Mayweather in the first place, and both men already staged an exceptional performance.

Mayweather fought more offensive than usual, claiming he wanted to give the fans what they wanted to see. "I was going for the knockout tonight," stated Mayweather at the post-fight press conference. "I was trying to break him down." Mayweather hurt Cotto in round twelve and clearly won the last three rounds, but he failed in his attempt to kayo the Puerto Rican warrior in a hard-hitting battle. Can Mayweather knockout Cotto? Maybe, Cotto was so strategically aggressive that Mayweather had no other choice but to adapt and fight the way he did?

Both fighters would likely make slight adjustments the second time around. Mayweather would probably attempt to strike Cotto's body frequently, whereas Cotto can increase his punch output behind an active left jab, a punch that he surprisingly landed repeatedly on Mayweather's face.

If Mayweather and Cotto face-off another time in the near future without either one campaigning against someone else, the first fight will stay fresh in everyone's mind. Fighting Cotto once more would obviously guarantee Mayweather another massive payday versus a fighter he previously defeated, as it promises to be another economically-wise decision for "Team Mayweather". Plus, Cotto can attain another huge paycheck that he rightfully deserves for all of his accomplishments compiled in the sport.

Mayweather accumulated $32 million plus a percentage of the PPV buys, and Cotto took home $8 million and a share of the PPV revenue too. Who else can Mayweather and Cotto fight besides each other for a second time to amass a similar payday? The answer is no one.

Taking into account the effort Cotto put forth, it is somewhat difficult to envision Mayweather moving any higher in weight to challenge WBC Diamond belt holder Sergio "Maravilla" Martinez (49-2-2, 28 KO’s), who has been flattening middleweights. Martinez is willing to accept 20% of the purse and drop from 160 lbs. to 150 lbs. for an encounter with Mayweather. Unfortunately for Martinez, he is not well-known to the casual sports fan, and his deadly mixture of size and skill make him a high-risk and low financial reward for Mayweather.

England's Amir Khan (26-2, 18 KO’s) wants to move up to welterweight, and has articulated an interest in a Mayweather bout. First, Khan needs to win his big rematch with Lamont Peterson on May 19th for consideration. Even with a potential win over Peterson, Khan does not seem to be a viable option for Mayweather at the moment. Although Khan has shined at times in his professional career, he has also had some lackluster showings. Also, Khan is still not a mammoth draw in the United States. Khan displays flaws in his defense, including a soft chin Mayweather could totally expose.

Mexico's WBC Junior Middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, 21, (40-0-1, 29 KO’s) owns a colossal following, but he has not yet reached the level of experience necessary to be deemed a reasonable threat at dethroning Mayweather.

Another possible candidate to fight Mayweather could be Andre Berto. Both have the same advisor in Al Haymon. However, unless Berto demonstrates better combination punching and improves his porous defense versus Victor Ortiz on June 23rd, he stands almost no shot at landing a Mayweather bout. Berto's fan base is way too small, and he does not possess a crowd-pleasing style. Mayweather versus Berto does not make economic sense, nor does it seem to be an intriguing contest. If Ortiz should defeat Berto again, hardly anyone wants to see him in a rematch with Mayweather.

It will not be astonishing if Mayweather and Cotto have a second showdown in next to no time. "Team Mayweather" can sell it, Cotto will certainly take it, the fans will definitely buy it, and it unquestionably makes for another exciting night of combat. It's the most practical, money-making fight on the table for both boxers. In the end, Mayweather and Cotto are called prizefighters for a reason.

Floyd Mayweather vs. Miguel Cotto Post-Fight Press Conference

Roger Mayweather: "Down the stretch it will be a mismatch; The victory marked Martinez' 4th consecutive win by stoppage.

Martinez, 37, got off to a quick start using his unorthodox right jab to tag Macklin, 29, in the first half of the round. But, Macklin came on in the second half of the round, as he utilized many feints and slick upper body movement to get close to Martinez.

Martinez connected with cleaner punches in round two, as Macklin's pressure was not as effective. Later in the round, Martinez sent Macklin staggering into the ropes, although the punch struck Macklin when he was off-balance.

Sergio stayed one step ahead of Macklin during round three, however, Macklin was closing the distance between them. Macklin was not connecting with hard blows, but he kept touching Martinez, letting him know he was right there.

Macklin landed a solid right cross in the fourth round. Martinez immediately countered with a sharp left uppercut, but Macklin showed a durable chin. As the round was coming to an end, Macklin blasted a hard right-hand shot through the Argentinian's southpaw guard.

Macklin really came on intensely in the fifth round, exhibiting terrific elusiveness. Martinez began to look slightly one-dimensional. Macklin's pressure started to throw Martinez off his game.

After a similar sixth round, the fight heated up in the seventh. The Irish fans erupted after Macklin connected with a glancing right-hand shot that left Martinez off-balance. To prevent himself from falling entirely on the canvas, a stunned Martinez reached out with his right glove to touch the mat, resulting in a knockdown being scored. After Martinez returned to his feet, he hit Macklin with a ferocious left cross to the body. From there, both fighters exchanged blow-for-blow the rest of the round, as the New York City crowd rose from their seats to applaud the action.

As Martinez did in previous fights versus Kelly Pavlik, Sergiy Dzinziruk and Darren Barker, he turned it up a notch as true champions do in the later rounds. Martinez began to pot-shot Macklin, and he landed a massive overhand left as the challenger was briefly trapped in the corner. Macklin slid away quickly, and Martinez could not land another similar blow.

Macklin could not get into close quarters in the ninth round. Martinez threw and landed multiple punches, hurting Macklin in the last minute with a right hook to the head.

Martinez whacked Macklin twice with left cross-right hook combinations in the beginning of the tenth round. Then, Martinez sent Macklin backward with a stinging right jab in the closing minutes of the round.

Martinez was now back in his groove in round eleven. All of a sudden, Martinez unleashed a thunderous left-hand shot that sent Macklin crashing to the canvas and almost through the bottom ring rope. Macklin never saw the punch coming. Martinez did a masterful job of using angles to disguise the "big shot". Macklin got up with approximately ten seconds left in the round. Martinez instantly smothered Macklin, sending him down for a second time before time expired after striking him with a brutal left cross. Macklin beat the ten count and retreated to his corner. In the corner, Macklin could not get up off his stool. Referee Eddie Cotton informed Martinez the bout was over, and Martinez jumped up in elation, raising his hands and parading around the ring in victory.

Matthew Macklin fought with an unbelievable amount of intensity. His eyes had fire burning in them as he stalked the Argentinian champion throughout the bout. He left every bit of energy, ounce of sweat and drop of blood in the "World's Famous Arena" last night. Macklin put on an absolutely remarkable performance in defeat.

That being said, Sergio Martinez showed the difference between a good fighter and an elite fighter Saturday night. He has continuously closed the show against high-caliber opposition, and his most recent accomplishment is no different. Martinez is clamoring for a mega-fight, and could further enhance his image if he gets one. But, who is going to step up to the plate next to challenge Martinez? It may be unfair to point out because they campaign as welterweights, but regardless of the amount of money Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and Manny Pacquiao could potentially make in a fight versus Martinez, and as intriguing as it is for fight fans and media to contemplate, both of them would be wise to avoid the middleweight champion.

Rodriguez Outpoints George

Edwin Rodriguez (21-0, 14 KO's) defeated Don George (22-2-1, 19 KO's) via ten-round unanimous decision by official scores of 96-94, 99-91 and 97-93 in an entertaining super middleweight fight.

Rodriguez, 26, started round one dictating the pace and tempo by employing his long left jab and superior lateral movement. George, 27, landed a well-timed right-hand shot over Rodriguez' jab, but failed to get into close quarters in the opening minutes.

In round three, George connected with a clean overhand right, but Rodriguez responded quickly, thrashing George with a series of overhand rights.

During the fourth round, Rodriguez trapped George in the corner and unleashed a swift combination. It became relatively clear Rodriguez was much more fluid with his punch output. Yet, George applied unyielding pressure, but fought too much in a straight-up stance. Rodriguez showcased the talent to inflict additional damage on George, but he failed to let his hands go more frequently when he had the opportunity.

In the fifth round, George began backing up Rodriguez with a steady left jab. Rodriguez gave the impression he was being too careful placing his shots.

Rodriguez nailed George with a powerful right cross to the body with thirty seconds left in round six. Rodriguez always put himself in a good position after landing his punches. George kept pressuring him, although Rodriguez did a better job counter-punching in round six than round five.

Rodriguez stepped up his work rate and made some tactical adjustments in the seventh round to ensure he got his punches off before George. Despite constant pressure from George, Rodriguez never slowed down.

With fifteen seconds left in round nine, George hurt Rodriguez with a shot that landed behind his left ear.

Then, George went into another gear in the tenth round, applying continuous pressure and winging wild shots at Rodriguez. Rodriguez, who undoubtedly was the more technically sound fighter, never faltered and carried on circling around the ring easily due to his matchless conditioning until the final bell sounded.

Abdusalamov Stops Pettaway

Magomed Abdusalamov (14-0, 14 KO's) maintained a perfect record, stopping previously unbeaten heavyweight Jason Pettaway (11-1, 8 KO's) via TKO in round four. Official time of the stoppage was 1:20. The ringside physician brought a close to the fight after Pettaway was floored in the fourth round. The 30-year-old Russian-born Abdusalamov was a 2005 and 2006 Russian amateur champion in the super heavyweight division.

Monaghan Continues To Progress, Decisions Watkins

Sean Monaghan (13-0, 8 KO's) kept his undefeated record intact, winning a one-sided, six-round unanimous decision versus Eric Watkins (6-2, 3 KO's) in a light heavyweight bout. Official scores were 60-54 and 59-55 twice.

Monaghan, 30, hurt Watkins several times in the first round with a succession of vicious left hooks to the head and body following Watkins unloading his punches at a furious pace in the first minute of action.

Monaghan continued his ambush in round three, connecting with a punishing, flush right-hand shot that snapped Watkins' head back with ten seconds left in the round.

Watkins lacked the "pop" in his punch to keep Monaghan from closing distance during the course of the fight. Yet, he showed great bravery and tremendous valor through the exchanges, surviving primarily using respectable lateral movement.

Ota Turns It On Late, TKO's King

Charlie Ota (20-1-1, 14 KO's) scored a notable seventh-round TKO thirty-five seconds into round seven, defeating a determined Gundrick King (16-8, 11 KO's) in a fierce junior middleweight clash.

In the first round, Ota displayed quicker reflexes as he felt King out by utilizing a light left jab.

King, a southpaw, connected with a series of hard, straight left-hand shots in round three.

During round four, King backed Ota up against the ropes, hammering away at his ribcage. Despite King getting his punches off first for the majority of the round, Ota connected with a crushing right-hand shot toward the end of the round.

In round five, Ota increased his punch output, striking King with a barrage of punches from various angles.

Ota sent King backward into the ropes after connecting with a pulverizing right-hand shot to his face in the sixth round. Subsequently, both guys engaged in a heated exchange. Once again, a devastating right-hand shot from Ota momentarily staggered King.

Early in round seven, Ota pummeled King in his own corner with an onslaught of crisp punches, prompting referee Arthur Mercante, Jr. to halt the bout.

McNickles Takes Narrow Decision

In a spirited junior welterweight bout, Carl McNickles (8-3, 6 KO's) won via six-round majority decision versus durable New Jersey native Danny McDermott (9-4-2, 4 KO's). McNickles triumphed by scores of 57-55 twice with one scorecard even at 56-56. McNickles, 27, was able to land clean overhand rights repeatedly to McDermott's head throughout the contest. McDermott, 32, charged forward relentlessly, breaking through McNickles' defensive guard often with a series of body shots. However, McNickles used better lateral movement, connecting at a higher rate with his power shots.

Rooney Makes Quick Work Of Shuff

Kevin Rooney, Jr. (4-1, 2 KO) improved his professional record, stopping Anthony Shuff (0-2) at 1:30 of round one in a middleweight contest. Rooney, 27, struck Shuff effortlessly with a series of overhand rights until Shuff retreated to his corner, and indicated to referee Arthur Mercante, Jr. that he did not want to continue fighting.
