Manny Pacquiao defends his WBO Welterweight title at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas next month against the unbeaten Timothy Bradley in one of the most eagerly awaited fights of the year.

There has been great debate in recent times as to who is the best pound-for-pound fighter on the planet with most pundits and fight fans arguing about the respective merits of Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather who fights Miguel Cotto in Vegas later in the week.

All fight fans want to see the two get it on but Mayweather sensationally accused the “Paq Man” of taking drugs at a recent press conference, having made similar remarks back in 2009. Pacquiao has always strenuously denied the accusations but one wonders if the pair will ever meet in the ring especially when you consider Mayweather is due to start a 90-day prison sentence after the Cotto fight for attacking his ex-girlfriend.

That said money talks and if Pacquiao disposes of Bradley the clamouring for what might easily be the richest fight in history will reach fever pitch; but first the Paq Man must take care of the dangerous Bradley a fight you can see exclusively live on Primetime next month.

Anyone with a record of 28-0 must be respected but we at BetVictor make eight-division World Champion and boxing legend Pacquiao our 1/6 favourite with a draw 28/1 and a shock win for Bradley at 9/2.

That said the confident Bradley recently stated that he expects “an easy fight” suggesting the Filipino’s powers are very much on the wane; even that most ardent of Paq Man supporters trainer Freddie Roach could not have described his latest wins against Sugar Shane Mosley and Juan Manuel Marquez as impressive. Roach has gone on record as saying he wants (and expects) a knock out at the MGM and the Fighter of the Decade for the 2000s recently broke the nose of a Russian sparring partner.

The noises coming out of the camp suggest we will see a rejuvenated Filipino in June, but his critics will say we have heard it all before and we at BetVictor are betting 7/4 for Pacquiao to win by a KO or TKO and suggest it is more likely to be a war of attrition won on points by the Paq Man at 10/11.

Bradley is 6/1 with BetVictor (www.primetimelive.co.uk/betvictor) to win at the hands of the judges and 9/1 to stop the Champion; Pacquiao was almost down against the journeyman Antonio Margarito when the pair fought a couple of years ago but does Bradley have the firepower to hurt the Champ?

It promises to be a cracking contest; hope Floyd will be watching!

You can check out the latest odds at www.primetimelive.co.uk/betvictor

You can order the card for only £14.95 by calling 08712004444*, visiting www.primetimelive.co.uk or Virgin Media customers can purchase using the ‘On Demand’ menu.
Customers on Sky must register the first time they use Primetime and once registered can purchase using the ‘box office’ menu.

Two-time world champion Randall “The Knock-out King” Bailey, arguably the biggest pound-for-pound single puncher in boxing, finally gets an opportunity to exorcise years of demon-like frustrations on June 9, when he takes on unbeaten Mike Jones for the vacant International Boxing Federation (“IBF”) Welterweight Championship, in the 12-round co-feature on the Manny Pacquiao-Timothy Bradley pay-per-view card, live from MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

For years, Bailey (42-7, 36 KOs) has been considered too much of a risk for some of today’s brightest stars. Awesome, one-punch knockout ability will do just that to a fighter’s reputation like Bailey’s. Ask Jackson Isei Bonsu and Frankie Figueroa, two of Bailey’s 36 knockout victims, who were literally out cold before they hit the mat, after getting chin-checked by a powerful Randall right.

“Randall Bailey has been frustrated most of his career,” his longtime manager Si Stern said. “He is unquestionably the strongest puncher in the world today and, I know this may sound crazy to some, maybe in boxing history. Just look at his knockout record. He’s been shunned by a lot of top fighters out there today. Why? They know Randall can take them out with one punch. History tells us that dangerous punchers like Randall have always been avoided.

“Jones (IBF #1) didn’t want to fight Randall (IBF #2), either. The IBF pushed the issue and said that Jones had to fight Randall or he’d lose his world title shot. Once he wins the world title again – he was too young when he was world champion – he knows the money will follow and that’s what has kept Randall going. He has no fear of Mayweather, Pacquiao or any of the other top welterweights. Randall knows that he can knock out any of them because of his power. Mayweather doesn’t want to fight Randall, who loves stand-up fighters like Pacquiao. His past problems have been against opponents who hit and run. Guys who stand and fight have never been a problem for Randall.”

The 37-year-old Bailey, now promoted by DiBella Entertainment, made his pro debut in 1996, when Jones was sweet sixteen. Randall won his first 21 pro fights, all by knockouts, including his World Boxing Organization (“WBO”) light welterweight title-winning performance against Carlos Gonzalez in 1999, followed by two successful title defenses against Hector Lopez and Rocky Martinez. In 2002, Bailey stopped Demetrio Ceballos in the third round to become the Interim World Boxing Association (“WBA”) Light Welterweight Champion.

After losing his IBF 140-pound title shot in 2009 to Juan Urango, Bailey moved up in weight to welterweight, and he is unbeaten in four fights in that division with three victories, including the Bonsu knockout in their IBF title eliminator, and a no decision.

“I pleaded with him to get out of the 140-pound division,” Stern note. “He walks around at 154 pounds, so making weight is no longer a struggle for him at welterweight. I bet he’s within a few pounds of making weight for the Jones fight right now, working out in Florida with his trainer, John David Jackson. Jones has never fought anybody like Randall Bailey; he will knock out Jones.”

Five of Bailey’s seven career losses have been to world champions: Urango, Miguel Cotto, Ener Julio, and Diosbelys Hurtado. Randall has defeated three world champions: Gonzalez, Corley, and Juan Polo Perez.

Like fine wine, Randall Bailey keeps getting better with age, something Stern believes Jones will discover June 9, probably at the end of single, concussive punch.

Highly rated American Heavyweight SETH MITCHELL takes on Chazz Witherspoon on April 28 at the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.

Mitchell currently boasts 24 wins with no defeats and 1 draw – 18 wins were by KO. Witherspoon currently boasts 30 wins and only 2 losses, with 22 wins by KO.

One thing is for sure, be ready for a knockout one way or another, both of these guys are big hitters and both will come to fight.

Mitchell spoke to Fight News to share his excitement at the fight on Saturday:

“It’s great to have this fight. It’s one I’ve wanted for awhile. I left it in the hands of my promoters and manager and they got it done.”

“[Witherspoon] does everything well and he will come to fight, I just think I’ll bring too much to the table on the 28th.”

Mitchell is widely regarded as America’s next World Heavyweight Champion and despite most of his fights ending early on, it by no means looks like he would struggle going the distance, Mitchell looks in incredible shape.

IBF Super-middleweight Champion LUCIAN BUTE is preparing for a hostile reception when he takes on Super Six Series Finalist Carl “Cobra” Froch in Nottingham on May 26.

Bute has been criticised previously for only fighting in his adopted Canada and recently for the first time in his homeland of Romania, however Bute is keen to prove he can deliver results in any environment – Even when the fans are against him.

The champion is preparing for his first big test in hostile territory as he is set to fight in front of thousands of Froch fans and is making every preparation possible to ensure victory.

Bute told RingTV: “While training, we recreate the atmosphere of what we expect to hear at the Capital FM Arena of Nottingham.

“I can’t hear the bell and I can’t even hear my coach talking to me.

“On May 26, I will be ready to face not only Carl Froch but also the hostile atmosphere of Froch’s fans,” said Bute.

“My team takes me out of my comfort zone every training session. In the coming weeks I will work extra at the gym and during sparring.

“I am training for a 12 round war so I am sure to have all the energy required to fight Carl Froch in his hometown.”

Bute is defending his title for the 10th time and has a further point to prove as he was omitted from the Super Six Series which featured most of the top fighters in the Super-Middleweight division.

Carl Froch openly stated that in his opinion Bute didn’t deserve a place in the Super Six and Bute is determined to make Froch regret those words on May 26.

Senchenko vs. Malignaggi, presented by Union Boxing Promotion, is being distributed in the United States by Integrated Sports Media for live viewing at 1:00 PM/ET – 10:00 AM/PT on both cable and satellite pay-per-view via iN Demand, DIRECTV, DISH Network and Avail-TVNfor a suggested retail price of only $29.95. The Apr. 29th card will also be available via on-line PPV at www.gofightlive.tv.

“I think it’s great because American fans don’t always get an opportunity like this to see fights held overseas,” said Malignaggi, who arrived in the Ukraine today from his training camp in Milan. “This is a high-level fight and not expensive pay-per-view. My fans will be able to watch.

“This is a good style match-up. Fans will see what Paulie Malignaggi has left and if Senchenko is for real. No matter which way you look at it, fans can get together as a group to watch, or order it individually at home. Boxing fans want to see world title fights and this one they’ll see me beat Senchenko.”

ADONIS “SUPERMAN” STEVENSON defeated Uruguayan Noe Gonzalez on Friday and claims he is ready to take on any super-middleweight in the World.

The up and coming fighter is trained by legendary Hall of Fame trainer Emmanuel Steward and increased his career record to 18 wins with only 1 defeat.

Stevenson retained his NABA, NABO and IBF Intercontinental belts and added the WBC Silver belt previously held by Gonzalez.

The power puncher from Canada unleashed a flurry of shots that forced the referee to step in and halt the contest with only 1:40 gone in the second round.

Adonis was fighting only for the second time since pairing up with Emmanuel Steward, making it two stoppages in a row, with the first of their fights being a first round KO of Jesus Gonzales for the vacant IBF Inter-Continental super middleweight title.

“Superman” is already ranked #2 by the IBF, #7 by both the WBA and WBO, and ninth by the WBC – however is likely to replace Gonzalez as #2 in the WBC following his win.

Adonis has the likes of Bute, Groves, Stieglitz, Kessler, Ward, Froch, Dirrell and Abraham to mix it with if he is to geniunely challenge for world honours, however he is a fighter to definitely keep an eye on.

ANTHONY CROLLA is determined to avenge the first defeat of his career and get straight back into the ring to fight British Champion Derry Mathews, and will even offer to make the fight in Liverpool to tempt Mathews to accept.

Crolla lost his British Title in an epic battle on Saturday, in a voluntary defence of the title he took from Willie Limond in November.

Despite starting the contest perfectly, a sweet uppercut from Mathews turned the fight and a spectacular chain of events unfolded, with Crolla being knocked down in the third round and suffering a nasty gash above his eye in the fourth round.

It is understood Crolla is offering to take the rematch to Liverpool, where Mathews would be fighting in front of his home town fans, likely being held at the Echo Arena.

Crolla’s camp hope this big money rematch in his home town will be enough to tempt Matthews into a second fight.

Joe Gallagher told Manchester Evening News: “This was a voluntary defence for Anthony, we gave Derry Matthews a chance and hopefully he will repay the favour.

“We’ve done it in Manchester, now let’s do it in Liverpool.

“This has got the potential to be a great series in the manner of Jamie Moore and Michael Jones.

“It was a fantastic fight and I’m sure television would want to see it again – this time in an even bigger arena.”

One thing is for sure, Crolla is a warrior and has already proven he was happy to mix it with the best. There are too many fighters that coast through their careers being matched with below-par opponents.

Crolla was happy to travel to Scotland to defend his title and had even accepted a bout with ring legend Erik Morales and Crolla will definitely come back stronger off the back of this loss.

There are plenty of world champions that have “lost their 0″ during their careers and frankly, fans would prefer to see an epic battle like they witnessed on Saturday in Oldham, rather than a boring mis-match to protect a fighter’s unbeaten record.

Undefeated middleweight contender Peter “Kid Chocolate” Quillin plans to crack Ronald “Winky” Wright’s defensive shell, in addition to possibly becoming the first to knockout the four-time light middleweight champion, June 2 in their 10-round Showtime co-feature at Home Depot Center in Carson, California.

“I love crabmeat,” Quillin said. “It’s in a shell and you have to crack it to get to the meat. That’s what I’m going to do to ‘Winky’; hit his arms, body, all over – take no prisoners!”

The 40-year-old Wright (51-5-1, 25 KOs), naturally, has a tremendous experience advantage over Quillin (26-0-, 20 KOs), who was seven years old attending grammar school in Grand Rapids, Michigan, when “Winky” made his pro debut in 1990.

“Winky” hasn’t fought in three years but he has had significantly more fights (57-26), rounds (394-97), and years as a pro (21 ½ – 6 ½) than Quillin, who, of course, hopes to be the first non-world champion to defeat Wright, as well as stop the defensive southpaw for the first time. In a class comparison, Wright has a decided edge having defeated all-time greats such as Felix Trinidad and Shane Mosely, while Qullin’s most notable win came against Craig McEwan in his last fight and HBO debut.

“I understand the risk,” Quillin commented. “I fear no man and I’m so confident because I’m working hard, six days at week, at Wild Card Gym (trainers Freddie Roach and Eric Brown), and with (strength-and-conditioning coach) Brad Bose. I’ve dedicated my life to boxing. ‘Winky’ is a future Hall of Famer. Beating him will give me respect. He’s a good defensive fighter and I need rounds. None of my last five fights have gone more than six rounds (19 total).

“I’m not taking him lightly, even if he’s 40 and has been off for a few years. I am challenging myself to see if I can be the first to stop him. I worked five weeks with Freddie Roach, soaking up everything he said and showed me, to learn about becoming a more complete fighter. This fight is make-or-break for me.”

Team Kid Chocolate believes the risk of fighting an experienced, potentially dangerous Wright is well worth the reward.

“We feel Peter is on the threshold of becoming a special fighter,” explained John Seip, who co-manages Quillin with Jim McDevitt. “He is fighting a future Hall of Fame fighter who still possesses a lot of boxing skills, knowledge and experience. This fight is a good test for Peter. We take one fight at a time but are confident and ready for ‘Winky.’ Peter is training hard and he is not taking anything for granted. He is focused and prepared. This will be the beginning of a very exciting year for Peter. The middleweight division has become a very interesting weight class and beating ‘Winky’ will position Peter as one of the top middleweight contenders in the world.”
