The loveliest new arrivals have sprung up at Anthropologie this week. Sadly the Sunburst Midi Dress, which I was so hopefully awaiting did not make it to our shores. Ordering it from the UK would be sheer madness since it might not fit and I would have to send it back. Sigh...

This Monday morning I am feeling so very rotten. An evil virus took over my body and I want to crawl out of my skin. Last night I told husband that if I die, he should please always be sensitive and gentle with our kids. Granted most people survive the flu or whatever the heck I have, but you never know. He responded that he can't promise anything and so I better not croak. Yup, that's my baby-daddy. So what does a woman who's in bed with a fever and who's not at all reassured about the future of her kids in the event of her untimely demise left to do, but drawn her sorrows in Anthropologie sale shopping? Another very legitimate excuse that I have is that after the baby I can't fit into any of my clothes. It's very depressing, but it's easier to buy larger sizes than to loose weight. As my kind and sensitive husband put it, "give up on loosing weight and just sell your skinny wardrobe". Slightly off the subject, but to top things off for me, my darling firstborn daughter has declared that I'm not a fun mommy. I asked her if she would rather have a different mommy and after ten seconds of consideration, she said "yes, but don't get upset".
So as you can imagine, this is not one of the happier Mondays for me. Well, let's see what can be scraped up in today's sale.

When Anthro Dissapoints

We all know, that when ordering from the Anthropologie website, you may receive an item coming from one of the stores, rather than a warehouse. Sometimes the items have been previously returned or tried on in the store and may occasionally have an odor or other imperfections. Personally, I'm ticked off by this. Most major clothing brands only send brand new merchandise to online customers. If items are out of stock on-line, it should be my choice, whether or not I'd like to do a store search for an item, knowing that I may get something that is not perfect and willing to take my chances, especially for a sale item. However, I think this choice should be offered to me and it's completely unacceptable for a huge brand like Anthropologie to send me second grade goods that were ordered at full price. This has happened to me a number of times in the past, and with two of my latest orders in a row. I have not had this experience with any other brand.

My second to last order, I purchased a cardigan that was on sale. Though I ordered it on the website, it clearly came from a store and smelled! Ewww. I called customer service to try to order a replacement, but it was completely sold out in my size. The customer service rep offered me 15% off if I wanted to keep it and because I really liked the style, I agreed reluctantly. Still, there is a sense of disappointment. Even on sale and with additional 15% off, the cardigan was still pricey in my opinion and having to invest in dry cleaning before wearing it is most annoying. In all the times I bought Anthropologie clothes on eBay, I have never received anything that smelled. Yet, I'm getting a smelly item straight from Anthropologie.

My last order was a dress which I purchased during the 20% off dresses promotion. This dress is now back to full price. When it arrived in the mail, the inner plastic bag that items are usually sealed in was ripped and crudely scotch taped back together. The dress did not have any tags attached, leading me to believe that it was someones return. If I was keeping the dress, this might have been OK, but since it did not fit and I would need to return it, I hope I won't be given the third degree for the missing tags. Once again, I feel like I've just shopped at some closeout store and not Anthropologie.

On a separate note, the dress I'm planning on returning is the Bottlegreen Dress. Everything about it seemed to be so right, but the fit is just all wrong. My regular size is too tight in the chest, yet gapes open at the neckline and too full in the skirt. If I went up a size to fit the chest better, the neckline and the skirt would look even worse. I can't even see how the neckline issue can be fixed by a tailor in an inconspicuous way. In the catalog picture, they've hidden the neckline with a necklace. It's really too bad because this dress is quite beautiful. Oh Anthropologie, why must you disappoint?

Big News And A Big Sale

You might have noticed that things have slowed down somewhat on this blog lately. Due to lack of available time and extreme sleep deprivation, I failed to share the good news with you sooner. On February 6th, I gave birth to our third child, a boy! He is the cutest, most delicious boy I've ever seen, and I'm not just saying it because he's mine. Trust me!
From now on, I'll be referring to him on this blog as baby B. And so, baby B is the uncrowned prince of our household. We don't sleep, eat, and definitely don't blog without baby B's approval and more often than not, he has other plans for us. Any activity that does not include baby B is vetoed by him. But that's OK, because we're just happy to bask in his royal presence. At this very moment, he is stretching and whining in his sleep, as if to say "don't you dare blog, I'll be requiring your boob any minute". And so, I will have to cut this post short.

Last Day For 20% Off Dresses

Today is the last day to get 20% off full price dresses at Anthropologie.
I'm still undecided whether to take advantage of the discount and order the Bottlegreen Dress. I almost never purchase Anthropologie items at full price, unless it's something I'm completely in love with and I'm sure it will not make it to sale in my size. The Bottlegreen Dress falls into that category. It's my favorite color and I love the broderie detail. What annoys me is that even with the 20% off, after shipping charges are added on, the dress goes back up to pretty much it's original price. So, do I wait till it goes on sale and hope it might still be available in my size, or do I order it now against my better judgement? I have till the end of the day to decide.

Anthropologie Home and Dinnerware SALE

A selection of items from the home and kitchen departments went on sale today. In addition, Anthropologie is offering a 15% discount of all dinnerware for a limited time.

I love Anthropologie dinnerware and kitchen items for the bright colors and unique, whimsical patterns. Even if you can't afford an entire dinner set, one or two pretty bowls really dress up the table. I have the Flame Leaf Bowls and get compliments on them every time I have company. Plus, they make me smile.

I drink my morning coffee out of the Cadiz Mug, which I'm completely addicted to. I had to replace it a few times because eventually the handle breaks on me, but I cannot be without this mug! Cute pattern aside, it's the perfect size and shape. I love that it's shaped like an over-sized tea cup. Plus, it's made of bone china, unlike most other Anthropologie cups, which are mostly Stoneware or Earthenware. Bone China weighs less, yet it's more durable. I think I'll take advantage of the 15% off and stack up on few back-ups.
