After yesterday’s Buckyball Google doodle, the Google homepage has been once again changed to enable internet users another way to while away their idle time at work. This new Google doodle is a series of colourful balls that make up the Google logo that, when mouse-overed, dissipates the balls all over the screen.

Google has been known for changing its logo of the years to honour certain anniversaries, national events, holidays, breakthroughs in science and charitable causes but lately has created a number of interactive logos coded in java.

Probably the most famous of its recent Google doodles is the Pac-Man game that allowed visitors to the site an opportunity to play a full featured version of the seminal video game with the game maze spelling out the Google logo. This won widespread praise but also antagonised a number of users who demanded that the default sound be turned off. People also noted that users spent 45 seconds more on the Google homepage playing with the Google doodle.

Today’s simpler Google doodle is unlikely to be around for too long and is unique in that this one doesn’t have a meaning or cause attached to it. No doubt tomorrow we may return to just the simple Google logo, but for now have fun with the balls whizzing around the screen.

Harold Yong Park, 31, surrendered to authorities without incident after a patrol car with a plate recognition system identified his vehicle at a traffic stop Monday.

He is being held without bail for murder at the Lomita sheriff’s station jail. He had “multiple pounds” of marijuana when he was arrested, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Park is believed to have fatally shot three men Thursday in an apartment along North Kings Road. The victims were identified as Bernard Khalili, 27, Pirooz Moussazadeh, 27, and Shahriar Moussazadeh, 38.

Investigators are still determining the motive but they suspect robbery was involved. According to the sheriff’s office, Park may have taken the marijuana he was carrying from the West Hollywood home after the murders.
