Also known as Wizards World… was a huge success for Breathers. So many people knew of the series and more than a few picked up a T-shirt! I mean, just look at how hard Justin is working…

Pitchfest

Well, I touched down in LA 5 hours ago and I’ve pitched Breathers non-stop. Its been very exciting and everyone has been so nice. The response to Breathers has been quite positive!

The next few weeks will tell the next step for Breathers. But for now, the possibilities are endless!

The Pilot is a Finalist!

The Breathers pilot is a finalist in the 2011 Script Pipeline’s TV competition! This is great because not only do we have a shot at winning some cash-y money to move this project forward, but we also get a chance to pitch Breathers to a number of studios! Out of over 3,500 total entries for both the screenwriting and TV writing contests we are one of twenty total finalists, and one of ten TV writing finalists.

We also get:

Circulation of the script and logline to appx. 200 companies, who have either requested to read the script based on the logline, or will read all finalist scripts regardless.
5-year Writers Database memberships
Additional assistance from the Script Pipeline judges and readers to help polish the script.
Free entry to the Secret Door Pitchfest where we will get a chance to pitch to 20+ Studios including WB, Universal, Lakeshore, and many others!

This is great news for Breathers as we enter the final push to finish the short film. Hopefully we’ll have a shiny new finished trailer to take out to LA with us. Breathers – The TV Show

In the slow months of post-production, my writing partner and I spent many a hour on a Pilot script for a weekly TV series based on Breathers. We have submitted it to a limited number of screenwriting competitions and are hopeful that winning some of these will help us garner buzz for the project.

So far the feedback from everyone on the script is super positive, so… Wish us luck!

Animator

In the final steps of post-production we welcome a new member to the team: Dante Tummello, animator extrodinare!

Dante lives in northern Lake County IL, about an hour north of Chicago. He loves cartoons like The Simpsons, The Venture Brothers, and My Little Pony- Friendship is Magic, to name a few.
When not animating, Illustrating, or building models he works part time at Starbucks. He plans on going to graduate school when he can scrimp together enough money.

Dante is working on creating the animated sequences that are included in the film. Though most of the film is live action, we are incorporating some animation to keep the Breathers feel and style that Justin created. Stay tuned for more as the animation process comes along.

Progress

The film is progressing, however slowly, but we are now in the exciting animation stages of the film. Our first step is to record the voices for the characters which will be happening in the next two weeks. Then we have very talented animators ready to bring the comics to life most literally.

Also in good news, I am currently collaborating with a L.A. screenwriter on a pilot for Breathers and we will be shopping that around shortly. Expect an update comprised totally of “!” should something amazing happen.

Episodes

I know it’s been a while, there has been a lot going on. Including a little thought to more episodes of Breathers. That’s right. I’ve had so many people ask if this would continue, that we are actually looking into the possibility of more episodes. I would very much like to, it just comes down to logistics and of course the root of all evil- money. But rest assured, if we can we will!

As for the episode we have already shot- that is coming along. We are fine tuning the edit and hope to have a screening in the very near future. So if you’re in Chicago and want to see the film and give some feedback, let us know. We’ll be sure to give you the info.

2009 Wrapup

It has been a hell of a year, and I am very grateful for everyone who worked hard on this project and brought it to life. The holidays have put us a bit behind our original ambitious schedule, but we will be heading into the new year at full steam.

For now, enjoy our new trailer and my hope is to put up short clips as soon as we have them (which may mean not fully sound designed and without certain special effects, but you’ve been so patient and I feel that should be rewarded).

So have a great new year and I’ll see you in the future!

Chicago Comics

For all you city dwellers that cannot make it up to Evanston to get your fix of comics- Chicago Comics (Just north of Belmont on Clark St.) in the city will also be promoting Breathers! I’m dropping the stuff off today so go hit them up for it.

And remember – getting yourself some cool stuff helps the film. So check them out!

I hope you’ve all made a trip up to the Comix Revolution and picked up a copy of the comics. If you haven’t, there’s still time of course.

Production is coming along so fast! Everyone is working very hard to make this film a huge success. We have all our locations locked, our actors cast- look for their bios in the Show and Tell section, and our hard working crew selected.

As we anxiously count down the days till the shoot (only 15 more days!)
