The new album is out. I released it a week ago and you can buy a hard copy here or go to iTunes and buy it here. One of my projects this month is to get 50 reviews on iTunes, which will establish the album a bit over there so if you want to hear the whole album on My Space and then review on iTunes, feel free!

Projects keep me busy. I’m thinking about my second project, which I plan on starting when the new website is done. I’m thinking of calling it “100 Blogs in 100 Days” when I try and get 100 blogs of differing sizes and focus to get to write about me and the new album and see what affect it has on my own website/blog/career but it’s an idea I got while showering yesterday, and it hasn’t come close to fruition yet.

I have been playing tons of gigs and if you check out my show schedule, it’s busier than ever. That excites me. The band will be playing our first Barking Crab show this Saturday and it’s going to kick off what will hopefully be a great summer.

If the weather gets better today, I will do my first streetperforming of the year at Faneuil Hall, a task I have been putting off due to nerves from all that happened last year (see previous posts in April and May of last year).

I’ve also worked very hard putting together a good press kit and promo video to court potential college booking agents because I have so much to do that it’s tough to maintain my college booking anymore, but alas, things didn’t pan out like I had hoped. Luckily, I have a great promotional video, and I’m working on getting some artists together for a Co-op for NACA to try and work together to afford the conference.

The biggest thing that I’ve been working on is music publishing. I’m trying to get my music on television shows and film. That’s where the money is nowadays in music as well as the exposure. It’s a brand new world for me but I’ve been making some good headway and have been getting some good responses from music publishers. I don’t want to reveal anything too early but some good things have been happening.

That will catch everyone up to speed. I’ll try and write more even if the new blog isn’t finished yet. I can’t wait for it though.

Along with the new album, I’m in the midst of designing a new t-shirt and website under the skilled hands of Abby Getman of Go Go Getman design. With the new website will be an entirely new blog and a new posting plan (I’ll fill you in more soon). I’ll be writing more frequently and more structured and I look forward to carrying things out.

I’ve been booking shows and preparing for the release of the CD. I’m also doing a ton of work for publishing my music to get it in the hands of people to hopefully have some tunes licensed for film and television.

It’s nothing personal.

The last bit of news is that I will be playing a show with my band on April 25th. It will be in downtown Lowell at The Athenian Corner. You can find more information at the shows page!

I got the masters in my hands and sent them out the next day. Two weeks from now, I will have the finished product of my CD. Then, hopefully, I will start making my money back (I’m laughing out loud at that notion). I don’t expect that for quite sometime. I’ll be reinvesting everything I make back into this machine.

I just wanted to check in and say that I haven’t died and that I’m blissfully busy and that a new website, album, and a new world of music is coming soon.

I’m also working on an ambitious new business plan for the next few years. It was a combination of things that inspired me: the show the other night, reading about a couple music business success stories but I’m encouraged right now.

I’ll be posting in a couple days about the new business plan. I may be seeking out help again with the Northeastern Co-op department and a few friends I have in mind. Away we go! We’re playing tonight at Bentley College (without Max)

I went to the Paradise last night for the first time since JUNE. To think, I went there what seemed like weekly when I was in school but things have slowed down. The Paradise Lounge no longer has shows (we’re coming up on the one year anniversary…I remember playing the last weekend there, sigh) and a lot of the people I know that worked there have moved on. I went last night, however, to see Lisa Hannigan, who used to sing with Damien Rice. Well, she doesn’t anymore, and she came out with a solo CD in a similar vein stylistically, but one that is a lot more upbeat and hopeful. In fact, both Marie and I commented about how we couldn’t place the last time we saw a female headliner in a venue this large. Her show was fantastic and the band was top-notch.

I was extremely impressed/inspired by the superb opener THE LOW ANTHEM. They are a band I’ve heard kicking around the last couple of years but there are a billion bands kicking around locally so I didn’t take the time to check them out. I feel like I missed out on something. They’re Providence-based and into their third album, which I just bought on iTunes and am listening to as we speak, and they’re the type of band I wish I was in. So much collaboration and artistry, it’s really an awesome thing to say. I love my band but I look forward to moving out to San Francisco and starting a new band. I’m looking forward to re-inventing myself and all that stuff. 

Check out both of these artists for sure! It was an encouraging and energizing show. Huzzah!
