This is my slideshow of the Mule Ears Spring Trail in Big Bend National Park. The hike to Mule Ears Spring is about 4 miles round trip. It is an intermediate trail that crosses several arroyos and winds its way through a rock corral on the way to the spring which is marked by large cottonwood trees. Throughout the hike the Mule Ears, which are exposed dikes of volcanic ash, are visible along with breathtaking vistas of Santa Elena Canyon. The small stones piled at various points along the trail are markers.

As reported last week on our Facebook Page, the current iteration of The Brian and Joe Radio Show has come to an end.  It was not an easy decision for Joe and me, but it was the right thing to do.  We are living in two very distant cities and leading extremely busy lives.  Despite our obvious on-air chemistry and the fun we had producing this show, creating entertaining and informative content is a challenge that takes a great deal of time and effort.  But even as we turn our attention elsewhere we will continue to maintain this website with all forty-four of our past episodes.  And don’t be surprised if we post some new content from time to time.  Version 3.0 of The Brian and Joe Radio Show could be as little as a year away or maybe as many as ten years!  Who knows?

Many of our listeners know us quite well and may be aware of our other endeavors.  Joe is a journalist in Cincinnati and I am a technical support specialist in Austin.  Yet we also are involved in a great many projects.  We urge you to check back frequently for personal updates.

Starting with version 1.0 of The Brian and Joe Radio Show in 2005, we’re very proud of our body of work which includes some great interviews with notable figures and personalities.  I think we took the concept of community public radio and showed that it was possible to do much more with the airwaves than is commonly done in the commercial media.  I believe our guests enjoyed our honest and casual approach, and that our audience knew we respected their intelligence.
 
On behalf of Joe and myself, I’d like to thank everyone for their support of The Brian and Joe Radio Show.  This is not the end, just an opportunity for us to return after a while with some fresh ideas and a renewed energy.

A couple of weeks ago today we were preparing to record our first episode from the 11th Annual Texas Renewable Energy Roundup and Green Living Fair in Fredericksburg, TX.  As we setup our temporary recording studio Ronnie Day, a Texas resident and Roundup volunteer, stopped by to take our picture.  You may notice a bit of nervous anticipation on our faces.  At this point in the event we had yet to line up a single guest and were still uncertain of the outcome.  Well as it turned out, this was the start to a terrific weekend.  We put together four great episodes on renewable energy and sustainable living.  Our thanks to the many people who participated in the show and helped to make it all possible!

By now it’s no secret that we’ll be in Fredericksburg, TX this weekend for the 11th Annual Renewable Energy Roundup & Green Living Fair.  This informative, and family-friendly event continues to grow in popularity in Texas and throughout the region.  The Brian and Joe Radio Show will be setting up a booth right next to the beer tent which last year (and hopefully will this year too) featured varieties from the New Belgium Brewing Company in Fort Collins, CO.

The Roundup lasts three days (Friday-Sunday) and features a great number of authoritative speakers active in business, government, and education.  We’ll be reporting the entire weekend and will be recording interviews for future episodes.  Throughout the weekend we will keep our audience informed with frequent updates on our website, Facebook, and Ustream.

11th Annual Renewable Energy Roundup and Green Living Fair!In preparation for our onsite coverage of the 11th Annual Texas Renewable Energy Roundup & Green Living Fair in Fredericksburg, TX, we have purchased a new banner to display in our radio booth.  We’re very excited to be reporting from The Roundup and to be meeting many of the progressive and expert speakers and visitors who will also be attending this event.
