			<title>Creation of Cycle East Sussex Fundamental Principles</title>
			<link>http://www.bricycles.org.uk/index.php?option=com_content&amp;task=view&amp;id=163713&amp;Itemid=52</link>
			<description>
A set of principles have been compiled by local cycling groups and in consultation with their members. They are intended to give basic guidance for planning departments to follow when planning or changing existing infrastructure. The objective is that there can then be a more sustainable approach to planning projects, and opportunities will not be missed that could have facilitated cycling. They provide baseline guidance which can be adapted in each individual situation. The document can be accessed here (index.php?option=com_docman task=doc_download gid=248) or in our Relevant Documents (index.php?option=com_content task=view id=95 Itemid=76) section.

Brighton and Hove Friends of the Earth (BHFoE) are requesting signatures to their petition on the redevelopment of the Royal Sussex County Hospital. While they support the redevelopment (which has some good aspects to it), BHFoE are calling for the hospital trust to invest as much (or more) money in walking, cycling and public transport as it is in car parking. Please help us by signing our e-petition (http://present.brighton-hove.gov.uk/mgEPetitionDisplay.aspx?ID=283).

			<title>Brighton cycle lane extension plans scrapped</title>
			<link>http://www.bricycles.org.uk/index.php?option=com_content&amp;task=view&amp;id=130525&amp;Itemid=52</link>
			<description>
The Argus has reported (http://www.theargus.co.uk/news/8823063.Brighton_cycle_lane_extension_plans_scrapped/) that plans to extend a seafront cycle lane from the cliff top path at the east end of Marine Parade to the Palace Pier at the Western end have been scrapped due to safety and budgetary concerns. Local cyclists had requested the route's feasibility be investigated, however the Aquarium Roundabout was considered a barrier to the scheme, given the expense of incorporating it safely into the proposed cycle route.
