Taylor Tomasi Hill for Lane Crawford

Taylor took inspiration from her personal wardrobe to design a capsule collection consisting of seven pieces for Hong Kong store ' Lane Crawford', in collaboration with its Fashion Director Sarah Rutson. Known for making impossible fashion combinations work brilliantly, Taylor artfully pieces together her corseted navy dresses with black tulle, floral separates, subtle hints of metallic sequins and more. Whom better to model these looks than Taylor herself?

Hope you all had a marvellous NYE, and wish you all a very Happy 2012! Oh my, December sure was crazy here in the Brigadeiro household, with my sister/1 year old nephew (his birthday and birthday party were on Boxing Day)/parents/bro-in-law all visiting (plus more friends and family, as is usually the case at this time of year). So apologies for the lack of posts!

Of course, it goes without saying, that the outerwear was my favourite, especially that camel coat (and the penultimate navy coat pictured - gorgeous)! There was plenty of tweed, and jackets harder, extended shoulders and nipped waists, giving them a gorgeous silhouette:

Pre-Fall 2012: Vera Wang, Zero+Maria Cornejo, DKNY and Donna Karan

If no one told me Vera Wang designed this collection, I never would have guessed. Featuring colorful kaleidoscope print (which reminded me of Peter Pilotto) and bold colours, I loved the tailored jackets worn with wispy dresses:

The mostly 'business' color palette—black, navy, charcoal, and ivory was punctuated with gorgeous deep red, in this very practical collection:

Pre-Fall 2012: Thakoon and Thakoon Addition

Thakoon

This is one of my favourite Pre-Fall 2012 collections thus far! I was a bit lukewarm towards Thakoon's last collection, but am in love with this one! The palette featured delicious pastels, and neutral grays, khakis, and creams, with cool-weather fabrics like blanket-printed wools and fuzzy Mongolian lamb, cutaway blazers, cable-knit sweaters, and slip-on leather loafers. Panichgul drew our focus to the waist this season, amping up the volume with full-skirted frocks, which were fun and flirty but not overtly so:

Thakoon Addition

Thakoon described this collection as "flirty, cheeky military", combining little dresses with swing coats and parkas. Pastel in this collection was found in camouflage prints (some abstracted from floral prints). Uniform details like oversize cargo pockets and sparrow tails gave feminine pieces like A-line skirts and cropped jackets a military touch. As with his main collection, Thakoon played with volume, though here he really let the billows fly. A maxi-length romper had legs so wide even his showroom model mistook it for a dress.

Pre-Fall 2012: Glamour at Chanel, Zac Posen & Oscar de la Renta

I am sorry it has been so long between posts, I have been battling an almighty virus/flu for the last 2 weeks (as has Lil Brigs', which only seems to drain my already drained body further). I can't believe that in the meantime, the Pre-Fall collections are upon us already! Although I agree with Dries Van Noten, that fashion needn't be a 'revolving door' with 4 collections a year, I found that there are already some gorgeous looks for this 'season':

Chanel

Taking inspiration from India (despite never having visited the country), Karl's Pre-Fall collection for Chanel sported some gorgeous draped sari-inspired skirts and heavy embellishments:

Zac Posen

As a big fan of Zac Posen for years, I lost slight interest in his designs of late, but his latest collection seemed to go back to his earlier days somewhat. My favourite pieces were the simple white wool crepe sheath with anatomical seaming designed to diminish your waist, and those that featured his obsession with chinoiserie and the idea of creating European couture shapes out of Eastern fabrics:

Deja Vu - Charade with Burberry Prorsum

Two nights ago I was watching on my favourite movies: Charade, starring Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant. I kept sighing whenever this coat 'showed up' on screen, and realized it reminded me a lot of a coat that has been on my mind for quite some time, Christopher Bailey's Fall 2011 Burberry Prorsum coat:

To me the coat looked more orange on screen...

In fact, it wasn't only Audrey's coat I was swooning over, it was pretty much every and anything she wore in that movie...

Marni and H&M - waiting for 8th March 2012!

I must admit I was not remotely interested in the Versace and H&M collaboration, but when I heard/read that Marni was collaborating with H&M for a Spring 2012 collection, my ears/eyes sure perked up. Due in stores next year, 8th of March 2012 in 250 stores worldwide, I sure hope I am somehow able to get my hands on some of the pieces I spotted in the video below ('somehow' because there is no H&M here Down Under):

I have long kept an eye on Fashion blogger and stylist Peony Lim's style, but it was at the recent SS'12 Fashion Weeks that I really fell in love with some of her outfits, all glamorous and fun...and she is just too cute! And just look at her hair! Ok, enough of that, onto the outfits:

This one is my absolute favourite, the stunning print on that Anna Sui dress just makes me smile, the red pumps, the matching bold lipstick...all demanding anyone's attention:

I loved the oversized red 'flower' pinned to her side ponytail, matched by the Vuitton Epi speedy and cute heels (the denim smock is of her own design, and available in her store):

It's probably just me, but I must admit I did not 'feel' this outfit, I felt it was 'forced' and not the effortless elegance I usually associate with Olivia...Maybe it was the earrings? Not sure.

Apologies everyone for going MIA once again. Last weekend I traveled to Melbourne to meet up with my sisters (one flew in from London, the other from Sydney), and after a few days there we returned to my house for the rest of the week for a whirlwind few days filled with food (and 1001 celebrations for my younger sister's 30th birthday), friends and a spot of shopping (and no, I did not buy a thing!). I had brought my laptop with the intention of posting, and extending the Peut-être Magazine giveaway, but alas, I can barely remember having a moment to catch my breath! I was hoping to share some pics of the last week and a half, but I cannot find my camera cable anywhere!

David Szeto Autumn/Winter 2011 - A Touch of Hollwood Western Glamour

Ah, David, how I've missed you...

I had been checking your website and blog for the past few months, hoping for updates...and at last! It was definitely worth the wait...I love your Hollywood Western inspired collection. Ever present are the beautiful shirring, pleats and draping that I love, feminine pieces in jerseys, wools and silk cut on the bias, moving beautifully with the wearer (and I still cannot get over how inspired the 'moving model' is on your website).

Loved the narrow shoulders and looseness around the hips in the dresses, coats and jackets. As a fan of kimonos, of course I fell head-over-heels over the floral Japanese kimono prints, and the supersized scarves were absolutely brilliant as multipurpose shawls, ponchos and wrap skirts!

I'm so glad you're back!

This is one of my favourite pieces of the collection, the draped piece can be worn belted as shown, or thrown over the shoulder, love the contrasting colours and draping!

Love the contrasting white lining and buttons, the alpaca 'fur' sleeves afford beautiful texture to this coat, and the fabric itself looks so luxurious...

I don't know which colourway I love more, this gorgeous red or the first 'grey' (purpley grey to me), I'd love this red dress with a purple/grey belt!

Love that poncho/shawl and its trimming!

Look at that brilliantly interwoven belt (under and over the draping fabric pleated by the shirring above it). LOVE THIS!

Ah, this coat...love the zip trimmed hem of this coat.

The detailing on the shoulders, neckline and hem are just beautiful...

Ah, Giovanna! Pt 8 - Spring/Summer 2012 Fashion Weeks

Ah, my favourite...Giovanna Battaglia!

Colour

Never one to shy away from colour, not only did she 'own' this Marni coat, she managed to do so clashing it with an unexpected print and loafers/slippers!

How absolutely stunning is this Gucci shirt dress below? I am in love...the colour, the billowy sleeves, the collar...ah, gorgeous!

I was so happy to see these glorious yellow pants once again! Remember them in my previous post HERE? And that gem-encrusted striped shirt is just brilliant!

Neutrals

Although I am not a fan of the lace-up, I liked how Giovanna teamed this beige top with that cute printed skirt:

I like beige with bright yellow and red:

And I am all over orange at the moment (well, am on the search for a nice orange t-shirt and/or top/blouse), love it teamed with camel here, and such a gorgeous silhouette the 'wrap skirt' creates!

THE Equipment silk shirt:

When I first this picture below I was so excited, it looked just like the Equipment silk shirt I have had in my wardrobe for some time, and absolutely love. When I later saw the whole outfit, and that Giovanna practically had the same blouse as I did, I flipped (haha, yes, I'm easily amused). And how gorgeous is that jade Bvlgari purse?

Turns out Giovanna's Equipment silk shirt is slightly different from mine (hers is on the left, with a pocket and pointed collar), whereas mine has the rounded collar. I prefer mine without the pocket, but love the pointed collar on hers!

Signature Gaultier: various different trenches, pinstripe suiting worn with crisp, asymmetrical white shirts; and lingerie details and tattoo-print body stockings. I am loving all the pieces with a trench flavour (especially that languid cobalt blue trench shirt/coat dress, and grey sleeveless trench):

John Galliano

Bill Gaytten (who has been cutting patterns for John Galliano for a long time), stepped in to give his own touch to some trademark Galliano looks, resulting in a beautiful and wearable collection, the sheer floral print pieces were my favourite:

Paris Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2012 Pt 7 - Femininity: Sophia Kokosalaki, Rue de Mail and Anne Valerie Hash

As a long-standing fan of Sophia's draped dresses, this collection made me happy to see her 'back':

I absolutely adored these ink-and-watercolor prints, that were very 'chinoiserie' (to me), especially in that stunning shade of yellow:

Oh, how I love Anne Valerie Hash's stunningly beautiful tailoring...in this collection, evident in the double-waistbanded trousers and skirts, with one waistband hugging the natural waist, and the outer slouching diagonally from one hip, creating a beautiful 'wrap/twist' effect. Loved the colour palette too, from lingerie colours to vivid orange and cobalt blue.
