So happy to say that William has reached the fun milestone of standing up on his own! About a week and a half ago, I left him playing in his play pen while I went to put some laundry away. I came back out a couple of minutes later and found William standing up with a HUGE smile on his face! He was so excited! I had my camera handy and grabbed it to take a picture while he was still smiling happily at me!

For the past few weeks, when we put Will on his feet in his play pen he would stand there for a bit, but this was the first time he pulled up all by himself. Such a great moment! Mommy, Daddy, and big brother Zachary were very proud, and as you can see below, so was Baby Will!

PS- yes, I know this was blogged out of order. This is a pre-haircut photo :)

Check out this giveaway of the Mosaic book by Mixbook!

Just in time for Mother’s Day, I have a great giveaway from the folks at Mixbook!

Mosaic, their new album product, is an innovative photo book app created with photos on your iPad or iPhone. Simply select 20 photos to print on 20 pages for 20 dollars, and a hard copy photo album will be delivered to your doorstep in fewer than 4 days.

Mosaic is a great gift—it’s unique, quick, thoughtful, and stylish enough for your mother’s living room table. And hey, what mom wouldn’t want to receive a photo book filled with family memories and photos of her family? This is a great gift for Mother’s Day or any day!

Check out the video below:

I am in love with this idea because I’m constantly taking pictures with my iPhone. In fact, I have a special weekend planned with my mom for Mother’s Day this year, and I am looking forward to taking tons of great photos. After the weekend is over, I am going to select my favorites to make a Mosaic book of my very own.

If you can’t wait for the giveaway, create your own Mosaic by clicking this link on your device: http://heymosaic.com/ to download it to your iPhone or iPad.

I’ll be posting again with a detailed review after I review my Mosaic book, but in the mean time, you can enter below to win one for yourself!

US entrants only, 18+, the giveaway ends Thursday, May 16th at midnight Eastern Time.

A rainy, dreary looking South Florida sky.

I have about a million things to blog, but have been super duper crazy busy lately (as Zachary would say). The boys have been keeping me on my toes, but I promise I’m going to have some good stuff for you later this week, including a GIVEAWAY! YAY. And more photo posts, once I have a few minutes to export the images and organize them.

ok, so my WW post for this week is a picture of a dreary, cloudy sky, about to drop a huge downpour… since we’ve had a bit of rain lately, I thought it was a fitting image. There’s nothing in the world like a Florida rainstorm!

I hate doing instagrams for WW, but I haven’t been shooting much personal stuff lately. :( I need to really make an effort to get my camera out more often. I hate knowing that I am missing moments in my own life that I should be capturing.

Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. I received a Yogurtland gift certificate in exchange for the following post. All personal opinions stated are my own.

Living in South Florida, going out for frozen yogurt is kind of a must — especially during the summer time! There’s not much to do here outdoors in the summer since it’s hot hot hot so I like to find indoor activities to share with my kids. One of my favorite indoor activities is heading over to The Walk shopping center here in Coral Springs, spending some time with my kids at the bookstore, and then going next door to Yogurtland for some super yummy frozen yogurt. I absolutely love the different frozen yogurts that they offer – so much variety and many flavors I never would have considered. My son Zachary loves trying new flavors and picking out toppings on his own, too.

I love that almost every time I visit a Yogurtland shop, they have something new for us to try. Yogurtland‘s new globally-inspired flavors include: Maqui Berry Tart from Patagonia; Tiramisu from Italy; Polynesian Vanilla from the French Polynesian islands; Spiced Chai from India; Crème Brulée from France; Sticky Toffee Pudding from England; POG Sorbet from Hawaii; Bananas Foster from New Orleans; Mexican Hot Chocolate from Mexico and Black Sesame Vanilla from Japan. Their search to find the best flavors and ingredients has been chronicled in a series of videos, including the travel and taste adventures behind Flavor Quest.

Yogurtland will offer these global flavors over a three-month period while giving guests a chance to earn free yogurt by scanning the QR codes of the Flavor Quest destinations posted inside the stores. After scanning five new flavors (only one scan per flavor and one scan per day), fans will earn 5 free ounces of yogurt. After scanning all 10 flavors, guests receive 10 ounces free and will be entered for a chance to win free yogurt for a year. Guests can also use the app to name, describe and share their frozen yogurt creation through social media outlets.

Yogurtland’s new mobile app complements the Flavor Quest promotion and has a Flavor Finder feature that allows guests to find their favorite flavor at the Yogurtland nearest them. The app has three ways to search flavors. First by searching the flavor name, second by using a location to search flavors nearby, and the third way is to the find the location of the nearest Yogurtland and see what flavors are currently being served. To find the app, search Yogurtland in your mobile app store.

Want to win a Yogurtland Gift Card so that you can try some delicious Spiced Chai or Bananas Foster yogurt for yourself?! Fill out the giveaway below for a chance to win!
THE BIG WEDDING, a fun romantic comedy, is in theaters on April 26! Come check out the movie poster and learn about my biggest wedding pet peeves from a wedding photographer's perspective!

With an all-star cast led by Robert DeNiro, Katherine Heigl, Diane Keaton, Amanda Seyfried, Topher Grace, with Susan Sarandon and Robin Williams, THE BIG WEDDING is an uproarious romantic comedy about a charmingly modern family trying to survive a weekend wedding celebration that has the potential to become a full blown family fiasco. To the amusement of their adult children and friends, long divorced couple Don and Ellie Griffin (De Niro and Keaton) are once again forced to play the happy couple for the sake of their adopted son’s wedding after his ultra conservative biological mother unexpectedly decides to fly halfway across the world to attend. With all of the wedding guests looking on, the Griffins are hilariously forced to confront their past, present and future – and hopefully avoid killing each other in the process. Screenplay by Justin Zackham. Directed by Justin Zackham.

THE BIG WEDDING has some of my favorite actors in it, and it sounds like a fun date night movie…. now if the whole thing happened in real life, I bet it would be a wedding photographer’s nightmare! Oh, the drama!! I thought I would take this opportunity to share some of my wedding pet-peeves from a wedding photographer’s perspective.

1. Bad Scheduling. This one is a huge pet peeve for me since most weddings seem to be scheduled right at sunset. What good is that, when the ceremony finishes and you don’t have any light left to take beautiful natural-light photos of the venue that you’re spending $10 or $20,000 on? It doesn’t make sense to me! If you don’t plan to take any beautiful photos in natural light at your venue, then why spend so much money on a fancy venue? Either schedule your ceremony MUCH earlier so that you have plenty of time for photos, or get over the antiquated tradition of not seeing each other before the wedding, and do a First Look (The first look is where the bride and groom have a special, private meeting to see each other for the first time before the ceremony, mainly to take their portraits and take advantage of the light).

2. Too many guests taking photos at the wrong time. By all means wedding guests should be able to enjoy taking pictures. But they should NOT be jumping in the middle of the aisle to take picture during the ceremony, knocking the photographer out of the way, purposely getting in front of the hired photographer so they can grab the KEY SHOT before the hired photographer, or walking around and acting like a professional photographer during the day. Especially in key moments, their flash (which is no-doubt, mounted to a professional grade camera that they just bought but do not know how to use, and have set to “Auto”), can absolutely destroy major shots. Wedding guests should be enjoying the wedding and celebrating with the happy couple, not walking around working and hoping to improve their wedding photography portfolio. That’s MY job.

3. The Bouquet Toss. Well, more specifically, what happens after the bouquet toss and the garter toss. When they have the girl who caught the bouquet sit in a chair and the guy who caught the garter is basically forced to put the garter on this poor unassuming girl with his teeth – or even just using his hands, to put it all the way up her leg, with the crowd chanting loudly that the higher it goes, the more successful years of marriage the couple will have. I’ve seen this several times and it is incredibly embarrassing to me. I can’t imagine being the girl who caught the bouquet and then being forced to do that, not realizing what she was getting into. I’m pretty sure I would just get disgusted and walk away, ruining the whole moment. I keep waiting to see someone do that, but it never happens. Typically the bouquet catcher sits there absolutely mortified just waiting for it all to end!

Make sure you go see THE BIG WEDDING on April 26th!! Do you have any wedding pet peeves, whether you are a wedding guest, a bride/groom, or a fellow wedding vendor?

We are so excited to learn about Disney•Pixar's newest movie announcement, Finding Dory!

Disney•Pixar’s “Finding Dory” to Dive into Theaters November 25, 2015

Disney•Pixar have announced the sequel to the hit movie, Finding Nemo, and brilliantly, it is centered around the Dory character! We could not be more excited! Let’s see what Disney has to say about the next installment in this fun family series:

When Dory said “just keep swimming” in 2003’s Oscar®-winning film “Finding Nemo,” she could not have imagined what was in store for her (not that she could remember). Ellen DeGeneres, voice of the friendly-but-forgetful blue tang fish, revealed details today about Disney•Pixar’s “Finding Dory”—an all-new big-screen adventure diving into theaters on Nov. 25, 2015.

“I have waited for this day for a long, long, long, long, long, long time,” said DeGeneres. “I’m not mad it took this long. I know the people at Pixar were busy creating ‘Toy Story 16.’ But the time they took was worth it. The script is fantastic. And it has everything I loved about the first one: It’s got a lot of heart, it’s really funny, and the best part is—it’s got a lot more Dory.”

Director and Pixar veteran Andrew Stanton takes audiences back to the extraordinary underwater world created in the original film. “There is no Dory without Ellen,” said Stanton. “She won the hearts of moviegoers all over the world—not to mention our team here at Pixar. One thing we couldn’t stop thinking about was why she was all alone in the ocean on the day she met Marlin. In ‘Finding Dory,’ she will be reunited with her loved ones, learning a few things about the meaning of family along the way.”

According to Stanton, “Finding Dory” takes place about a year after the first film, and features returning favorites Marlin, Nemo and the Tank Gang, among others. Set in part along the California coastline, the story also welcomes a host of new characters, including a few who will prove to be a very important part of Dory’s life.

You may not know it, but I am a huge fan of (the new series of) Doctor Who! My husband got me into it maybe a year or two ago, and since then, I’ve been pretty much hopelessly obsessed.

This weekend, Doctor Who starts back up again on BBC America after a couple months break, and we’ll get another handful of precious episodes! I cannot WAIT to find out the mystery of Clara Oswin Oswald! Anyone else???

So in honor of Doctor Who, one of my absolute favorite shows of all time, I thought I would do a little post today featuring some of my favorite Doctor Who images that I’ve found on Pinterest. I have no idea who made any of these! Some of them are seriously beautiful, and some have wonderful quotes. I can’t guarantee they will be spoiler-free, so if you’re not caught up with the series, you may want to scroll down with caution!

This one is so romantic! Pretty much what any girl who has ever seen Doctor Who has ever dreamed, at least once upon a time.

We <3 <3 daleks around here! They’re the original Doctor Who villain. Even my 4 year old loves to run around the house shouting EX-TER-MIN-ATE!

A little preview of one of the summer movies that we are looking forward to experiencing with our four-year-old!

Did you know that a new Disney animated film will be coming to the big screens this summer? If you and your kiddos loved the Cars movies, you are bound to love Disney’s Planes! I showed my son the teaser below, and he’s already excited about the movie and asked if we can go see it in the theater!

From above the world of “Cars” comes “Disney’s Planes,” an action-packed 3D animated comedy adventure featuring Dusty (voice of Dane Cook), a plane with dreams of competing as a high-flying air racer. But Dusty’s not exactly built for racing—and he happens to be afraid of heights. So he turns to a seasoned naval aviator who helps Dusty qualify to take on the defending champ of the race circuit. Dusty’s courage is put to the ultimate test as he aims to reach heights he never dreamed possible, giving a spellbound world the inspiration to soar.

Joining Dane Cook, who provides the voice of Dusty, are Stacy Keach, Brad Garrett, Teri Hatcher, Cedric the Entertainer, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, John Cleese, Carlos Alazraqui, Priyanka Chopra, Gabriel Iglesias, Roger Craig Smith, Colin Cowherd, Sinbad, Oliver Kalkofe and Brent Musburger. Adding some high-flying flair from a classic feature film are Anthony Edwards and Val Kilmer.

Inspired by the world of “Cars” and directed by Disneytoon Studios veteran and aviation enthusiast Klay Hall (“King of the Hill,” “The Simpsons”), “Disney’s Planes” is an action-packed 3D animated comedy adventure. The film takes off in theaters in 3D on Aug. 9, 2013.
The results of my Operation Rehydration test, using Eucerin cream to help fix my dry hand problem.

A few weeks ago, I posted about my horribly dry and awful looking hands.

I decided that I was going to use a tube of Eucerin PLUS Intensive Repair Hand Creme for about a week to see if it would solve the problem. My little test to see how good this stuff is. I ended up running my experiment a bit longer, since I ended up coming down with a horrible cold that lasted two weeks, and my skin really reacted to it. I wanted to end up with what would be a semi-normal result.

Three weeks later, after using the hand cream typically once a day or more, my hands do look a lot better. Not fabulous or perfect, but certainly better than they did before. While the Eucerin cream was my primary hand cream, I also had other types of creams/lotions touch my hands which may have assisted in helping them out. I use Aquaphor AND coconut oil on my legs since I have a serious dryness and eczema issue. Both of those are also very moisturizing and healing, so they may have helped in addition to the Eucerin.

Let me remind you what the “BEFORE” picture looked like:

UGH. Gross. My palm looked shriveled and my fingers looked like they belonged to a zombie. Disgusting. I was really embarrassed to have anyone see my hands.

Now let’s check out what my hands look like today… the “AFTER” picture…

…of course now that I’m posting these pics, I realize I photographed my right hand at the beginning of the month, and today I took pics of my left hand…but I’m not redoing it. LOL.

So… my hands do look much better!!! I have to admit that at first, I was not happy with the Eucerin at ALL. It was good that I ended up extending this little test, because for the first week or so, I didn’t notice much of a difference. The changes came about more slowly. I think the Eucerin helped more in the area around my fingers/nails than it did my palms, as I still have some tightness in my palms, but not as much as I did a few weeks ago.

My nails actually look healthier, the shriveling in my palms/fingers is a bit more minimized (though not by much, honestly), and my cuticles no longer look like they were being munched on by zombies. You can see a lot of peeling, dry spots around my cuticles and nails, though, so my hands definitely need more work. I’m going to continue to use the Eucerin while trying out other methods of moisturization, such as coconut oil and other types of lotions.

I would rate this cream a 2.5 out of 5. If you need a hand cream and your hands aren’t severely dry, this is probably a good option, but for someone that needs a real major fix like I do, it’s probably not the best option.

Thanks for following along. If you know of anything more heavy-duty that will really help knock out out this dry skin problem…. especially dry and peeling cuticles… please let me know!

A little bit about why I love NASA, in honor of NASA Month and Author Beth Revis' contest.

As if I didn’t need MORE reasons to absolutely love Beth Revis, one of my favorite YA sci-fi authors (she wrote Across the Universe, A Million Suns, and Shades of Earth) who happens to be a sci-fi junkie and a self-proclaimed Whovian Browncoat – props to you if you know what that means.

Beth is hosting a giveaway on her blog in honor of NASA Month. Every weekday in March, she’s been writing about NASA and how freaking awesome it is, and she is inviting her readers to do the same (and possibly win some amazing book swag in the process). I knew as soon as I read about NASA Month that I wanted to participate, but I wasn’t sure how. Do I write about some of the shuttle launches I’ve seen? Nah, I’ve done that. Stuff we love that was inspired by NASA? I’ve done that too, sort of. Favorite NASA inventions? Ehhh, too many to list, and probably too boring for most people.

It wasn’t until last night when Adrian put on a couple episodes of one of our favorite shows ever, Star Trek: Enterprise, while he was working on his computer, that I realized what I wanted to write about. Hearing the show’s theme song, “Faith of the Heart” by Russel Watson, made me remember what I love the most about NASA…

IMO, never has one organization (especially one that receives so incredibly little funding from our government, only 0.5% of the total US Federal Budget) been able to bring about the kind of unique, visceral reaction from people that NASA does. People are passionate when it comes to space. As for me, I always loved Star Trek and sci-fi as a child and thought astronomy was kinda cool, but it wasn’t until I saw my first Space Shuttle launch in 2001 that I became an evangelist. I even took an astronomy class in college that I was totally unprepared for (I’m a geek, but I’m actually quite bad at math and science – haha).

NASA and the space program gives us hope that we can do anything, imagine anything, be anything. If you watch the video I embedded below, the opening theme of Star Trek: Enterprise, you’ll see a timeline of human accomplishments over the past few centuries. To me, it is like a mini-tribute to NASA, an acknowledgement to the fact that as a species, we have come so far in so little time, reaching forward towards the amazing dream that we can go even farther. That is what NASA is all about, to me: Invention. Imagination. Achievement. I love science, and I love NASA, and I am awed and amazed by everything NASA has done over the past 55 years.

NASA inspires me to imagine an incredible future. Perhaps by the time NASA reaches 100 years (when my little Zachary is 50 years old!), all that we’ve learned from NASA will allow us to cure cancer, settle on Mars, and even develop a way to create our own “warp speed” space ships.

But for now, we’ll just have to dream.

Another edition of Geeky Friday, what happens when I photograph my son's toy dinosaurs left in random places around the house...

I can’t believe I haven’t posted in a week. :( That’s what happens when your ENTIRE FAMILY gets REALLY SICK. I have, however, been instagramming a bit. Make sure you follow me at @karenlisa if you aren’t already!

I decided to do another edition of “Geeky Friday” since I really enjoyed last week’s post. Zachary, Adrian, and I have been really into the iPad/iPhone game, Jurassic Park Builder. We’ve always loved dinosaurs, but the game has really expanded on that, and we’ve been spending a lot of time learning about all of the different types of dinosaurs and what they eat (herbivore vs. carnivore — or as Zachary says, leaves or bacon, LOL).

Zachary has been playing a lot with his dino toys, and this week, I’ve noticed that he has left some of them in strange positions around the house. I decided to photograph them wherever he left them. Here’s the result of my little experiment:

Proud to be raising a wonderfully nerdy/geeky family!

One of my friends posted this to a mommy message board I’m on. I couldn’t help reposting to my FB wall since I loved it so much. You may or may not know it, but I am 100% geek!

Yes, I love me some Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Lord of the Rings. Some of my favorite TV shows came from the SyFy Channel. I read an inordinate number of fantasy novels growing up, and some of my favorite “fandoms” are Doctor Who, Star Trek: TNG, and Firefly. I also loved playing games — whether it be Mario Brothers or Zelda on my NES – or online, starting with Gemstone III when I was barely even a teenager. Any other Gemstone fans out there?? :)

As for Adrian, well, he could probably write an entire blog post of his own detailing his geekery! Thank goodness he found me! We are truly a perfect match, with the same interests!

We are raising our boys to have a healthy love of everything and anything nerdy, geeky, techy, and scifi. Zachary adores Star Wars, can tell the difference between a Goomba and a Koopa, and can do a pretty good imitation of a Dalek (EX-TER-MIN-ATE!). No doubt, William will follow in his big brother and his parents’ footsteps.

So, it’s not surprising when things like this happen at our house:

ZACHARY SKYWALKER TO THE RESCUE!

Amy and I had a great time last night seeing Matchbox Twenty for the millionth time! Check out some pics from last night and a little nostalgia :)

You guys. I have been so sick this past week! We all have, actually – me and the kids. Adrian was lucky enough to avoid the sickness. Those of you wondering how my Operation Rehydration challenge turned out, I’m giving it a few extra days since I’ve been sick and extra dehydrated. Anyway.

Yesterday was really the first day in a few days that I felt good, which I’m so thankful for, since I had tickets to see one of my favorite bands, Matchbox Twenty, with my best friend, Amy!

Here we are right outside Hard Rock Live at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood:

And here’s a shot from the concert. That glowing figure is the fabulous Rob Thomas, who was in top form last night!

Amy and I have seen MB20 and Rob several times. For me, the count is only about six, but Amy has seen them 12 times! We’ve both been backstage and cherish those memories!

Back in college, when I wrote and did concert photography for the UCF Independent (yes, I attended the University of Central FL for two years before moving up to UF), I got press passes for a set of Matchbox shows and was able to photograph the band for my review. You can read that review, here on my blog: Matchbox Twenty Sets Florida on Fire. Hard to believe I wrote that article 12 years ago!!

I couldn’t help digging in the garage and finding some of my old concert photos from my MB20 concert weekend in April 2001. I was NOT a professional photographer back then (I was just a college freshman!), but thanks to my press passes, I was right there with the big guys, shooting with my little Olympus Zoom Point and Shoot camera! I spent a small fortune on film that weekend, but it was totally worth it, and an experience I will absolutely treasure forever.

Before I finish my post about last night, here are some pics of Rob from 12 years ago, since I don’t have any close ups from last night. Note, bucket list item: get press passes to another Matchbox show again, so I can photograph it with my big, bad, professional camera.

Anyway — back to yesterday’s concert! I always enjoy seeing shows at Hard Rock. Stadium shows are ok, but I like a smaller venue and unless you’re seeing a band at a club (let’s face it, those days are probably over for me since all the bands I like now have pretty much made it big now, lol), the smallest venue we have here that is decent is going to be Hard Rock Live. The sound is always pretty good, it’s not far from my house, and we can usually get pretty good seats.

As for our seats last night, we were not on the floor, but might as well have been since we were in the first row of the risers in the back. I was pretty thrilled with where we were sitting!

Amy and I were so happy with the set list. Lots of our favorite songs, both old and new. Here it is, 3/13/13:

Parade
Bent
Disease
She’s So Mean
How Far We’ve Come
3AM
Real World
Girl Like That
If You’re Gone
Overjoyed
All Your Reasons
Long Day
I Will
Unwell
Radio/Stay With Me
So Sad So Lonely
English Town
The Way
Bright Lights
Sleeping at the Wheel

Encore:
Put Your Hands Up
Back 2 Good
Don’t Change
Push

Some standout moments for me were the little 1996 interlude starting with 3AM and ending with If You’re Gone. Rob sounds just as good as he did back then! Also loved Kyle singing on Stay With Me and The Way, and I loved the new coffee house style arrangement they did with Unwell. As always, Long Day is one of my absolute favorites live, as was Push, and I simply adored hearing So Sad So Lonely and English Town. To me, those songs were just really good live.

It’s also so much fun just listening to Rob talk about the songs – one of the songs in particular, the whole venue was just buzzing listening to him speak, the song “Radio.” Rob talked about how back in the day he’d listen to the radio for hours and hours, finger hovering over the play and record button, just waiting for his favorite songs to come on the radio, then waiting for the annoying DJ to just shut up so he could start recording the song… and once his favorites were all recorded, he’d compile a mix tape of his favorites. It was something we all could totally relate to and brought us all right back to growing up in the 90′s.

Towards the end, Rob announced that they’d be touring this summer with the Goo Goo Dolls, another of my and Amy’s favorites from back in the day. Yay, another concert to look forward to!

Come check out how I did styling my hair with my first ever curling iron!

Can you believe I made it to 30 without ever purchasing a curling iron?! I know! I love curly hair, too, so it’s kind of ridiculous.

I bought the Bedhead Curlipops Conical Styler. After checking out a couple of them on YouTube, I decided I really liked the look it gave – tighter curls on top, looser waves on the bottom – and picked it up at Ulta the other day.

I love the blue color.

This was my first try. I know I’m totally frizzy, but I didn’t plan on doing my whole head, just wanted to try it out…. however, once I started, I couldn’t stop. ;) Next time I’ll do it properly so I’m not so frizzed out! I love the pretty waves, though. Can’t wait to do this again!

Today's Wordless Wednesday includes photos from our little Everglades detour on our mini road trip across Florida last month.

On the way to the Florida Gulf Coast for our week-long vacation at the end of February, we stopped at one of the Wildlife Management Areas in the Everglades. It was beautiful and very off the beaten path. It was super cold outside, but the sky was brilliantly blue and clear! Perfect for some photos, which I was very excited to take.

The Everglades is called “The River of Grass” and it’s easy to see why. It’s very serene and definitely one of the most ecologically interesting and beautiful places in the United States (and the world)! I would love to go back one day to one of the serious bird-watching and wildlife-watching areas without the kids and actually photograph some wildlife with my “real” camera. My inspiration for that kind of photography is my friend Nora, who is an absolutely incredible wildlife/animal photographer here in Miami.

Anyway, here are my favorite shots from that afternoon – all Instagrams. I should also mention that FULL credit goes to my wonderful husband, Adrian, for finding this great location for me to jump out and take pictures!

I have horribly dry skin on my hands and around my nails, what a nightmare! Over the next week, I'm going to try to fix that!

For a while now, my hands have been dry. Not just a little dry, but ridiculous. Unfortunately, I’ve gotten into the BAD, BAD habit of picking at my nails again, and yes, sometimes biting at them, which is awful considering I actually quit biting my nails about a year ago… but due to a little stress, have picked up the habit again, occasionally… and due to a horribly infected cuticle on one of my fingers last week, I couldn’t polish my nails, use hand creams, etc, since I had to use antibiotic ointment and let my finger heal. I’m ready to get back in action making my hands look nice, and I want to start by rehydrating them so they look pretty again when they’re polished.

While I am not really an over-washer, my hands do get wet a LOT – definitely a lot more than in the days before I was a mom, that’s for sure. I feel like I’m constantly doing dishes, washing out baby bottles, wetting rags so I can clean the baby/high chair/whatever, bathing someone, using cleaning products, and lots more activities that are harsh on my hands. I also tend to use a lot of hand sanitizer when I’m out and about, which is very drying. It’s so crazy how putting your hands in water actually seems to suck the moisture right out of them!

I found a tube of this Eucerin PLUS Intensive Repair Hand Creme this week while cleaning up my makeup drawer in my bathroom, and I want to try to use it up this month, since it’s half finished.

I’m going to start by doing a week of really focusing on rehydration and using the hand creme as much as possible to see if it helps my dry skin situation. I’ve always been a fan of Eucerin and its sister product, Aquaphor, and for some reason I always have tons of tubes of both laying around my house, so let’s see what this can do for me!

Let’s hope that it does help, because here’s what we’re dealing with as far as my horrible skin!

I can’t believe I am actually posting this on the internet… I’m sure my husband is horrified!!!! Ha ha. Yes, it’s gross. But I know for a fact that I’m not the only one out there, and I’m curious to see if this little experiment works, and also would love to hear from other dry-skin-sufferers.

The skin on the palm of my hand is starting to even shrivel a little bit because it is just SO dry, and let’s not even talk about my nails and the area around them. It’s a nightmare. Seriously a nightmare. You’re lucky you did not have to look at that photo in high-resolution like I did!!!

My goal is to try to remember to use the Eucerin to moisturize as much as I can after exposing my hands to harsh situations. I’m going to keep the tube at home so I don’t lose it, so if I’m out of the house, I’ll just moisturize once I get home. I’m not changing ANYTHING else, like my diet or water consumption or anything – just using the hand creme. I can’t wait to report back in a week and share my results! I officially started YESTERDAY (even though I didn’t get a chance to post until today) and I do think I see a difference already!

What are your favorite hand cremes? Have you tried any that completely didn’t work for you or made things worse?

Note: This is NOT a sponsored post, just a fun personal challenge in an effort to rejuvenate my skin. I didn’t get paid by Eucerin or receive this product for free.

So, last week we were on vacation (more about that later this week), and apparently in my haste to post my Snapshots from last week… I completely missed half of January while browsing through my Flickr account. LOL. So, instead of a traditional Wordless Wednesday post, I’m again going to do more snapshots. Because these are too cute not to post. :)

Good morning! it’s a happy baby! I was so exhausted the morning I took this picture, but William was too adorable :)

<a title="My little morning person. Ugh. Too adorable to be upset with for waking me so early, even though I'm simply exhausted!!
Here I am before heading out to shoot a wedding with my friend Stacey! I love doing my makeup before a wedding day. I don’t leave my house some days, so getting dressed up to go shoot is fun!

I had to pick up some dog food for Maya, and Zachary was entranced by the snakes at Pet Supermarket. Even though he thought they were gross!

<img class="aligncenter" alt="Checking out the snakes at Pet Supermarket....
William and I went on a shopping trip to Publix while Zachary was at school one day. Publix gives out a free cookie to every child. Of course I would allow my seven month old to have a cookie – at least a bite :) He loved it!

<img class="aligncenter" alt="The best part of a trip to #Publix...
Later that day, we headed to the park… the kids had a great time together!

<img class="aligncenter" alt="I love my boy.
William teething… no fun :( I think I took this picture just a day or two before his second tooth cut through the gum.

Aunt Amy came over to visit and Zachary showed off all of his dinosaurs. We all walked over to check out the line of lizards, and this picture was created!

<a title="We had a #guest today. Aunt Amy came over to play & eat dinner.
