Tornadoes - Why are tornadoes such assholes? Ruining perfectly nice spring days and destroys lives. You suck tornadoes!
Ants - Are there any redeeming qualities to ants? Why do they always manage to find a way onto my kitchen counter? Jerks.
People asking for news updates on facebook - Really? You're already on facebook, just close it and go to CNN. Would take you 1 minute tops.
Making dinner - Ugh... I hate making dinner. I never know what to make and what I do make isn't very good. And then I have to clean it all up!
Being thirsty at night - I don't know why but I'm always super thirsty right before I go to bed. Guess what happens a few hours later! Yep, me stumbling to the bathroom

Keeping Calm

I don't know if I've said this before but this has been the most insane, stressful year of my life. There have been many ups and many downs. We have moved to a state we have never been to before, had to find a job right away, moved in with roommates (ugh), dealt with layoffs, Evan started school, I was pregnant, had a baby born with a heart defect, endured 2 open heart surgeries, 1 bout with the flu, heart cath with a hospital stay, and many other things! Things seem to be settling down though, thank God! I honestly don't know how much more stress I can take. I need to do some yoga man. Alex only gives me so much "me" time every day. I have to use that time very wisely! I finally got to make a batch of soap the other night. It's been over 8 months since I've made any. I did it after Alex went to bed but he woke up like 15 minutes later and I just had to let him cry in his crib because I was in the middle of it. :/ He has been in a better mood lately. He will actually sit by himself for a little bit and play. I have to put stuff around him because he still falls over like a big sack of potatoes. His heart is doing great and I don't think of him as unhealthy anymore but I sure wish the oxygen machine would go away! His cardiologist wants us to keep it around just in case. blah. And now I am trying to find a job which is totally stressing me out. The job parts not stressful it's the daycare part that is worrying me. I just need to rely on God. He got me through this year and I'm sure I'll get through the next. I just hope it's a little bit calmer!

Dinosaur Ridge

I love doing touristy things in my own hometown and since I had my parents visiting from out of state I thought going to Dinosaur Ridge was a great idea. Dinosaur ridge is very close to me and I am so glad because I plan on going a lot. The ridge is right at the foothills. It's a very pretty spot once you get up the hill.

If you like history, dinosaurs, geology or hiking you won't be disappointed in Dinosaur Ridge. We parked out front by the dinosaur statues. Right next to the parking lot is a huge field that seemed to be filled with gophers. Having never really seen live gophers before I thought they were cute but I guess they are quite a nuisance.

Inside the gift shop they have some interesting items. Lots of crystals, fossils and minerals. I thought it was a really nice gift shop with a great assortment of items. They have a sort of gold panning area out front and you can buy a bag of sand with all sorts of minerals or fossils and go pan it. Evan did this and had a lot of fun. I was actually surprised how many things were in his small sized bag.

We all took the tour that goes up the mountain. Our guide was great. Really informative and interesting. All the way up the mountain there are things to learn and see. We would stop and she would explain the different rock formations or show us fossils or foot prints. There are over 300 dinosaur footprints in the sandstone! In one spot there were a ton of fossils that you could touch. Going on the bus tour is definitely worth it at least once. I think it's only $4 for adults. But you can also hike up for free which I plan on doing next time. It is so pretty when you get near the top. You can see the red rocks!

When we got back we went to the exhibit hall. It's sort of a mini museum. The guy inside was pretty nice and was great with kids. There was lots of information and fossils inside. Outside the exhibit hall they have a little sand pit that kids can dig in and look for fossils. Of course Evan loved this and found a gastropod. Not sure if it's real or not but he got to keep it.

I really liked going to Dinosaur Ridge. It is a pretty cheap spot to take visitors or to go as a family. If your in the Denver area it's not far at all and there's a ton of other things to do in the area. Until the end of May you can use these coupon for free admission to the exhibit hall!
