The painting belongs to Brigitte Bardot ex-husband, the photographer and playboy Gunter Sachs, and sold along with other art. Gunther Sachs (who committed suicide last spring) commissioned his friend Andy Warhol to make Brigitte Bardot's portrait, and later bought one the the Actor, Model and Pop artist's last self-portraits, "Fright Wig" Gunter Sachs first met Andy Warhol in St Tropez in the early 1960s. I always had Brigitte Bardot in mind as Angelique though, when I read the books. It is a classic love-passion and gripping adventure story.They're really good. Well-written and researched. Brigitte Bardot is a fan of Angélique and regretted turning down the chance to play their heroine in the French films.

Australian Activists Board Japanese Whaling Spy Ship

Three West Australian environmental activists have boarded a Japanese boat that has been monitoring an anti-whaling ship off the WA coast. The anti-whaling organisation Sea Shepherd says three men from the group Forest Rescue boarded the Japanese vessel Shonan Maru 2 in the middle of the night in waters off Bunbury in WA's south-west. It says the protesters went on board carrying the message "Return us to shore in Australia and then remove yourself from our waters." It says they are now being held on board the Shonan Maru 2. Sea Shepherd says the Japanese boat had been tailing its flagship vessel the Steve Irwin while it towed another of the society's boats, the Brigitte Bardot, to safety in Fremantle. The Brigitte Bardot was damaged by a 10-metre wave in the Southern Ocean. Michael Montgomery from Forest Rescue says the men boarded the vessel because the Federal Government is not doing enough to prevent the killing of whales

In December alone, tickets were selling like hot baguettes (too much?), raking in a dizzying 24.7 million in ticket sales. Unfortunately, things weren’t so rosy in America in 2011. Domestic numbers dropped off from 47.6 to 46 percent in the past year, and ticket sales reached 16 year lows. 2011 was the seventh straight year that box-office figures dropped. C’est la vie! The Shonan Maru 2 was still sitting off the West Australian coast Friday.

“The Australian federal government needs to be asking or telling the Japanese government that that ship is not welcome in our waters and it should not be shadowing the Sea Shepherd,” Senator Siewert said.

“It should be putting a boat into the water and sending a customs vessel down with the Sea Shepherd to monitor what the Japanese fleet is doing in our waters.”

While fighting heavy seas in pursuit of the Japanese whaling fleet, the Sea Shepherd scout vessel Brigitte Bardot was struck by a rogue wave that cracked the hull and severely damaged one of the pontoons on the vessel. Captain Paul Watson, onboard the Sea Shepherd flagship Steve Irwin, reports that they are fighting heavy seas to reach the position of the Brigitte Bardot some 240 miles to the southeast. It is expected to take 20 hours to reach the damaged vessel. The Brigitte Bardot is at 51 degrees 42 minutes South and 99 Degrees 21 minutes East, or 1500 miles southwest of Fremantle, Western Australia.

The Brigitte Bardot is at 51 degrees 42 minutes South and 99 Degrees 21 minutes East, or 1500 miles southwest of Fremantle, Western Australia.

Brigitte Bardot Captain Jonathan Miles Renecle of South Africa was pursuing the Japanese factory ship Nisshin Maru when the wave slammed into the port side of the vessel cracking the hull. The crack has been getting wider as the seas continue to pound the vessel.
Captain Renecle is confident that the ship will stay afloat until the Steve Irwin arrives. The Brigitte Bardot has a crew of 10: three British, three American, one Australian, one Canadian, one Belgian and one South African.
The Sea Shepherd ship Bob Barker will continue in pursuit of the whaling fleet. The Steve Irwin will assist the Brigitte Bardot, first to see to the safety of the crew, and then to escort the vessel to Fremantle for repairs.
“This is disappointing, but these are hostile seas and we have always been prepared for situations like this,” said Captain Watson. “Right now the safety of my crew on the Brigitte Bardot is our priority and we intend to reach the crew and then do what we can to save our ship.”

But hot on their heels is the Japanese vessel Shonan Maru No. 2, which this morning was still tailing both ships.

Captain Watson told The Daily Telegraph Online there were men on the Japanese ship were dressed in black, "like a bunch of ninjas". (news.au)
