House of St John’s is one of those venues that instantly feels special. Right in the heart of Bath, it has a beautiful Georgian interior that doesn’t feel overly formal. It’s elegant without trying too hard, and has such a warm, welcoming feel from the moment you walk in.

I always love photographing weddings there. The light, the interiors, and the charm of the building create such an incredible backdrop for a wedding day. Also, it’s right in the heart of the city so you can travel to the park over the road or The Circus for outdoor family photos or couple photos. It’s the kind of venue that works well in every season.

As a wedding photographer, I love shooting at the House of St John’s because there’s so much variety throughout the day.

The light inside the main house is beautiful, and it offers plenty of natural, editorial-style backdrops for relaxed portraits.

It’s a great second option if you need a wet weather contingency plan to doing couple photos inside.

It’s no surprise, then, that I absolutely adore it when couples ask me to be their House of St Johns wedding photographer!

If you’re having a smaller wedding in Bath then The House of St John’s has everything you could possibly want from a wedding venue. It’s a truly beautiful space, set in the heart of Bath, and it carries such a strong sense of character and atmosphere throughout.

What makes it really special isn’t just how it looks, but how it feels when you’re there. That’s largely down to the staff who are just brilliant.

THE RECEPTION

Where can you go after the ceremony? Kierston and Tom carried the celebrations straight out onto the grassy lawn, where they and their guests got stuck into the good stuff, including a bit of 3pm limbo (there honestly should be more 3pm limbo at weddings, in my opinion).

The House of St John’s is truly one of the most stunning wedding venues in Bath. I’ve shot weddings there throughout the year, and it never fails to wow. Also, turning most corners in Bath reveals a beautiful spot for couple photos and it’s also brilliant for guests with car parks nearby and plenty of accommodation.

A STUNNING VENUE FOR COUPLES WANTING A RELAXED YET ELEGANT SOMERSET WEDDING

Brympton House is one of those places that instantly feels special the moment you arrive. The first sign is that long tree lined drive that leads to the second long driveway. The main house is full of character, feeling warm, relaxed, and easy to enjoy. It’s elegant without being overbearing and it lends itself beautifully to weddings that feel personal and unforced. Every time I photograph a wedding here the team are brilliant, calm, welcoming, and completely invested in making the day run smoothly. It’s also a venue that looks incredible whatever the season.

As a wedding photographer, Brympton House offers so much variety. The large windows give the softest light, from getting ready photos, the bar area as well as the different dining room options. The gardens and sweeping views down to the lake, the staircase, the front of the house and back to that driveway. It’s a perfect spot for natural, editorial-style portraits. As the day moves into the evening I’ve seen conga lines leading down the drive way to the party house. People having fun with marshmallows over the fire pits and of course the epic dance floor options.

When it comes to standout wedding venues in Dorset, St Giles House is right at the very top of the list.

So you can imagine how happy I am whenever a couple gets in touch to tell me they’re planning their wedding there and would love me to capture it for them.

A BIT ABOUT IT

THE HISTORY

St Giles House is one of those venues that quietly takes your breath away. Tucked away in the Dorset countryside near Wimborne St Giles, this extraordinary house has been home to the Ashley-Cooper family since the 17th century and is the ancestral seat of the Earls of Shaftesbury.

With its origins dating back to 1651, the house has seen centuries of British history unfold within its walls. After an extensive and loving restoration in the early 2000s, St Giles House has been brought back to life in a way that honours its heritage while making it feel warm, welcoming and wonderfully intimate.

The result is a place that offers not just grandeur and elegance, but a real sense of story. When you celebrate here, you are stepping into generations of history, and that depth gives the whole weekend a feeling that is both meaningful and completely unforgettable.

CHURCH WEDDING?

If you’re dreaming of a church ceremony, you’re in luck. Right on the edge of the estate sits the beautiful St Giles Church, just a short stroll from the house itself. It’s as picturesque as they come, surrounded by ancient trees and steeped in the same centuries of history as the house next door. Walking from the church back to St Giles House feels pretty special too, confetti floating through the Dorset air as everyone makes their way to the party.

And if a church ceremony isn’t your thing, you can absolutely keep everything at the house. Angela and Joe’s New Year’s Eve Wedding at Ivy Lodge
Angela and Joe rang in the New Year in serious style with their wedding at Ivy Lodge. A beautiful new wedding venue that is already set to become a favourite. Their day had all the energy you would expect from a New Year’s Eve celebration. Elegant details, emotional moments and one unforgettable Land Rover photo!

Getting Ready Near Ivy Lodge
The morning began with Angela getting ready at a nearby hotel, just a short distance from Ivy Lodge. She looked incredible in her dress by Ellie Lowe. A timeless and modern gown that suited the setting perfectly. Hair and makeup were by Kate Kelvin, who I had not worked with in years and it was great to see again.

A Beautiful New Wedding Venue
Ivy Lodge is a stunning new wedding venue, full of light and character. It worked beautifully for Angela and Joe’s winter wedding. Hosting around 150 guests, the venue felt lively and full.

The ceremony took place at 4pm, making the most of the winter light before the sun dipped.

Flowers, Cake and Styling
The florals by The Flower Hut Tetbury complementing Ivy Lodge without overpowering it. Everything felt thoughtfully styled and cohesive.
The cake was created by Pip’s Patisserie, and it looked as good as it tasted. It was a real crowd pleaser and fitted beautifully with the overall look of the day.

Evening Celebrations and New Year’s Eve Energy
As the evening celebrations began, the energy ramped up even more. Tux Fizz kept the dance floor full, delivering an incredible party atmosphere that carried us through to the New Year celebrations.
A New Year’s Eve wedding brings something extra special, and Angela and Joe’s day was full of laughter and unforgettable moments right through to the end of the night.

K & M’s Wedding at The Roman Baths with a Celebration at The Ivy Bath
Some weddings just feel good from the very start. K & M’s day in Bath was exactly that. Relaxed, stylish, full of brilliant people and one unexpectedly life-changing side dish.

A Ceremony at The Roman Baths
Getting married at the Roman Baths is always special. There is something quietly powerful about standing in a place that has existed for nearly two thousand years and saying your vows. The golden stone, the flicker of torchlight, the steam rising from the water. It creates an atmosphere that feels both intimate and cinematic.
K & M looked incredible.They were the kind of couple who are just as fun to hang out with before the ceremony as they are in front of the camera.
After their ceremony, we wandered through Bath for a few portraits. The city always shows off and these two made it easy. Loads of laughs, loads of movement, nothing forced.

Drinks, Food and Dancing at The Ivy Bath
From there, the party moved to The Ivy Bath Brasserie for drinks, food, speeches and dancing.
If you are searching for a wedding reception at The Ivy in Bath, this is your sign. It was such a vibe.
Guests spilled out with cocktails in hand, the room buzzing before everyone had even sat down. The crowd brought great energy. Big laughs during the speeches. Proper cheers. The kind of group that is up for a dance floor before dessert has fully settled.

And then there was the broccoli.

I am lucky enough to be fed at most weddings. People are so hospitable and I’m very greatful. Now, I do not normally get this excited about vegetables. But The Ivy cooked broccoli, and put salt on it and it was memorable good. The best broccoli I have ever eaten. I found myself talking about it far more than is socially acceptable at a wedding. If you book The Ivy Bath for your wedding breakfast, order the broccoli. Trust me.

Once the speeches wrapped up, the dance floor filled quickly and stayed that way. K & M were right in the middle of it all. No disappearing for long posed photo sessions. Just soaking it in with their people.

Autumn Old Down Estate Wedding

An autumn wedding at Old Down Estate is always something special, and Anna and Simon’s day was full of warmth, personality, and a few unexpected highlights. From a heartfelt church ceremony in Olveston to golden sunset portraits and even a llama encounter, this wedding was the perfect mix of tradition and fun.

A heartfelt ceremony at St Mary’s Church, Olveston
Anna and Simon tied the knot at St Mary’s Church in Olveston, a beautiful village church that felt intimate and welcoming from the moment guests arrived. The vicar was genuinely lovely and set such a relaxed, joyful tone for the ceremony. It was one of those services where you could feel how much everyone was enjoying being there.

Anna looked incredible walking down the aisle, and Simon’s reaction said everything. There were lots of smiles, laughter, and a real sense of togetherness, which made photographing the ceremony a joy.

From church to Old Down Manor
After the ceremony, everyone made their way to Old Down Estate for the reception. Autumn was in full swing, with soft golden light, warm tones in the trees, and that crisp countryside feel that makes this venue so special at this time of year.
Old Down Manor offers so many lovely spaces for relaxed moments and natural portraits. Anna and Simon wanted their day to feel easy and unforced, and it suited the venue perfectly.

Personal touches and sporting loyalties
Anna and Simon’s personalities were woven into the day in subtle, brilliant ways. Anna is a big football fan, while Simon is all about rugby, and there was plenty of friendly banter between guests throughout the day.

Golden hour, sunset views, and llamas
As the day moved into evening, we were treated to a stunning sunset. The light at Old Down Estate was perfect, and we slipped away for a few relaxed portraits that captured Anna and Simon together, soaking it all in.

And then came the llamas. Meeting them was an unexpected highlight and made for some fun, memorable moments that summed up the laid-back nature of the day.

Kristen and Ash’s wedding at Berkeley Castle in Gloucestershire was one of those days that reminds me exactly why I love being a Berkeley Castle wedding photographer. Historic surroundings, emotional moments, unreal views and a dancefloor that properly went for it. This one had it all.

A Church Ceremony Full of Meaning
Kristen and Ash chose to get married in the church, which made their day feel even more personal and traditional. There’s something timeless about a church wedding that fits perfectly with the historic feel of Berkeley Castle and set the tone beautifully for the rest of the day.

Photogenic Getting Ready Locations Nearby
Both Kristen and Ash got ready close to the venue, and the getting ready spots nearby were incredibly photogenic. Natural light, calm vibes and plenty of space made them ideal for relaxed morning photos. These moments are always some of my favourites to photograph, as the anticipation really starts to build. Also because they were close to one another it meant I could see them both.

Berkeley Castle as a Wedding Venue
Berkeley Castle is an absolute dream for wedding photography. The inside of the castle is stunning and perfect for couple photos, especially if the weather turns, which it did briefly. The stone walls, historic rooms and cosy atmosphere create such a romantic backdrop.

We were treated to both sunset and rain on the day, which meant dramatic skies outside and intimate, atmospheric images inside. Also a rainbow or two! The views from the castle are amazing and give you that proper wow factor, while the interiors feel warm, characterful and very cosy.

Golden Hour, Rain and Everything In Between
Sunset at Berkeley Castle never disappoints. We managed to sneak out for couple portraits with that soft evening light before the rain rolled in. Then it was straight back inside the castle, which honestly worked perfectly. Rainy wedding days here still photograph beautifully and Kristen and Ash absolutely embraced it.

An Epic Party with Kieran Clarke Entertainment
Huge shoutout to @kieranclarkeentertainment for kicking off the limbo and firing those CO2 cannons. I now want one for Christmas. The energy on the dancefloor was unreal and it was great to work with Kieran again. The night ended exactly how it should, sweaty, loud and full of laughter.

Eastwood Park Wedding Photographer

Returning to Eastwood Park wedding venue always feels special, but this one hit a little differently. The last time I photographed a wedding here was almost ten years ago, so coming back for Lauren and Alex’s day felt like a reunion with an old friend. The sweeping views, the soft summer light, the peaceful grounds. Everything reminded me why this place remains one of Gloucestershire’s standout wedding venues.

Lauren and Alex started their day at Broadmead Baptist Church in Bristol, a beautiful and welcoming place for their ceremony. After they said their vows, we made the short drive to Eastwood Park. It was a typical summer Saturday with a touch of traffic, but nothing that slowed the excitement. By the time we arrived, the sun was already working its magic across the lawns.

A Day Filled With Warmth, Views, and Lovely People

The first thing that hit me again about Eastwood Park was the view. Rolling countryside as far as the eye can see. Every direction looks like something from a painting. Lauren and Alex had loads of wonderful guests, and the atmosphere was buzzing from the second we stepped out onto the grounds.

They were keen to prioritise photos, which meant we carved out time to explore the gardens and soak up the scenery. Honestly, these two made it easy. Relaxed, joyful, and completely present with each other. That is a dream for any wedding photographer.

A Sunset Worth Waiting For

The real showstopper arrived later in the evening. As the sun dropped behind the hills, we were treated to a spectacular sunset. It was warm, golden, and absolutely perfect for those soft, glowy portraits that feel timeless. Lauren and Alex embraced it with total enthusiasm, and the result was some of my favourite images of the year.
Eastwood Park really knows how to deliver a sunset. Every minute seemed better than the last, and the final frames were pure magic.

Cat & Matt | North Cadbury Court | Wedding

Spring wedding North Cadbury Court

I have been impatiently waiting for Cat and Matt’s spring wedding North Cadbury Court for some time now. Stomping feet and checking the calendar. I knew little about North Cadbury Court but I can tell you now it is in my list of favourites. A golf course on the roof. A silent disco in the basement. Bags of charm everywhere. It was a wedding photographers dream and such a great place to hang out on a wedding day. It’s in an unsuspecting village in Somerset so I was a happily surprised when visiting it for the first time.

Cat’s gown was from Stephanie Allen Couture and her shoes from Manolo Blank. They set the tone for the glamour to come and pretty much everything about their wedding styling. The main location for all events was North Cadbury Court in Somerset. A dizzyingly beautiful dream of a home in sunny Dorset. In the morning everyone got ready before we headed to the ceremony in the main hall.

During the ceremony they had readings from close friends and also made their own personal vows. In the meanwhile wedding planner Gemma and her team from Sincerely Yours worked her magic and made sure everything ran on time. Somehow my UK weather luck struck again, and the skies opened just before the newlyweds and guests went outside to celebrate against the beautiful backdrop.

We then headed inside for afternoon tea provided by local caterers Sausage and Pear – then ice cream and speeches in the beautifully decorated house. We managed to dodge a few showers before moving outside briefly for a few photos in the sun. Once the evening guests arrived my favourite band The Indie Killers played the night away in their usual high spirited way. I wish we could do it all over again…
