Nathan Cleverly weighs in for Saturdays Big Fight in Cardiff

Nathan Cleverly weighed in today for his WBO light-heavyweight title defence against Tommy Karpency on Saturday night, coming in just under the required limit 12st 6lb.

The Welshman makes his long awaited homecoming at Cardiff’s Motorpoint Arena in what will be the third defence of his belt.

And the 25-year-old is an expectant winner, as only one of two current British world champions and should do the job against the unheralded Karpency on his way to a potential summer showdown with Bernard Hopkins, should the old man of boxing defeat Chad Dawson on the same night.

Lee McAllister in tough European title challenge against Shafikov

Lee McAllister faces the toughest test of is career tonight when he takes on Russian Denis Shafikov for the European light-welterweight title at Aberdeen’s Exhibition Centre in Scotland.

The Aberdeen Assassin, who has 34 wins, two defeats and no draws on his record, will need all the home support he can get against southpaw Shafikov, who is unbeaten in 28 fights, with one draw on his record.

McAllister knows that the undefeated Shafikov will be a tough opponent but also feels that he may be taking him lightly after agreeing to come and face the Scotsman in Aberdeen and not in Russia and Finland, where he is based.

But McAllister says he does not fear the 26-year-old southpaw - who beat veteran Italian Giuseppe Lauri in his previous contest.
And he has vowed to end Saturday night with the European belt in his grasp.

"Hopefully he is underestimating me," McAllister said. "That way he'll probably underestimate my punch power and my speed and my strength, and he'll get a shock when my right hand's in his jaw and he'll drop.

"He's undefeated, he's got the title and I'm only interested in that belt. Every time I go to bed dreaming about it; it's my title and it's my time to shine."

McAllister hopes to eventually fight at the home of his beloved Football club Aberdeen FC and has already earmarked a couple of potential opponents.

"If all goes to plan on the February 25, my dream one day is to be fighting at Pittodrie and get a big name like (Erik) Morales or (Amir) Khan - if he beats (Lamont) Peterson.

"Hopefully I can take them to Pittodrie and do a number on them."

Jason Cook Aiming to Finish His Career With a Bang

It is hard to think of an unluckier figure in British boxing than Jason Cook. Over the last few months the 29-4-1 (15) Welshman has been linked with Frankie Gavin and Curtis Woodhouse twice each yet - for a variety of reasons - has seen all four fights fall through.

With the clock ticking on the 36 year olds career he can ill afford another year of postponements and frustrations. It must have been an incredibly trying time for the former European and IBO lightweight champion.

“It has you know. It’s got me down a bit and I just lost interest in it in a sense” says Cook. “I’ve just started back training and the diet began after the weekend. I’m just looking forward to having a fight really. The thing with Curtis Woodhouse couldn’t be helped with his brother going into hospital – I hope he gets well soon – but the Frankie Gavin thing just really cheesed me off.”

Gavin returns to action on the undercard of Nathan Cleverly’s WBO title fight with Tommy Karpency in a bout with Kevin McIntyre. There were strong rumours that the former amateur star would be stepping back into the ring against the danger man from Maesteg. Rather than dig around for rumours and half truths, the best course of action is to let Cook himself explain why the fight fell apart.

“They wanted the fight one minute then they didn’t” he sighs. “Then they’d say ‘well you were offered the fight last year, it could have happened then’. Yeah, on five days notice! People say Frankie Gavin then looked good against Michael Lomax but Lomax had two days notice for the fight for Gods sake. Anybody can look good against somebody like that. That’s what happened to me. When they first phoned me I think I was 11 stone 13lbs. I wasn’t training and was in my bedroom on a Sunday night and they asked me to fight on the Saturday. Originally it was at 10 stone 10lbs. I got down to 11 stone by the Wednesday and they said they wanted a British title eliminator at 10 stone 7lbs and I said it’s not possible to do it. That’s what Frank [Warren] wants. He wants you to fight on four or five days notice.

“If I had five weeks to prepare for Frankie Gavin it would have been perfect. I just don’t think he wanted it personally.”

Money – as always – also appears to have played a pretty big part in Gavin’s decision to sidestep Cook.

“He got offered £10,000 but he wanted £40,000 to fight an eight rounder against an old man. Dean Powell spoke to my manager and said that Frankie had told him personally that he wanted another fight first because it’s a tough fight to go back into. Money does talk in boxing these days and forty grand is quite a lot of money for an eight rounder I think. He thinks he’s a superstar but he hasn’t earned it yet. I wasn’t getting anywhere near that for fighting at European and IBO title level.”

Cook may now be a bit longer in the tooth but he still retains the ambition – and power - which took him to those titles. It seems his will is still every bit as stout as his famous left hook.

“It’s my last year anyway whatever happens. I’m 37 next week! It’s a young mans sport and always has been but I’ve proved I’m capable but I’ve just become a bit disillusioned with it. I’m taking time off work which is costing me money and I just can’t keep doing it. There are 20 year olds coming up and I think I’m old enough to be their father! They probably look on youtube and think ‘Woah! He was good!’ and I was probably fighting for the British title when they were preparing for the junior ABAs! I’d like to have four fights if I could. I don’t wanna fight journeymen though, I want four decent fights. Obviously I’d love to have one more crack at the [British] title. I’ll try my best to get a title shot and John Watson is the ideal fight to come back to.”

Watson impressed when stepping up from lightweight to reach the semi finals of the recent Prizefighter light welterweight tournament. Having tortured himself to make the lightweight limit, he seemed to have rediscovered himself and displayed the verve and power which had been missing from recent performances. The pair are scheduled to meet on the undercard of Tony Bellew’s British title defence against Danny McIntosh at Liverpool’s Echo Arena on April 14th and Cook acknowledges he is in for a hard nights work.

“I’ve been around the game a long time and just think that whilst John’s a nice lad, hopefully my experience will tell on the night. I don’t say ‘oh, I’m gonna go and win no problem’ because I know it’ll be a very hard fight, especially in his own backyard. I can’t take many fans because it’s the same day as the Grand National and all the hotels are booked! He’s a good lad. He’s a throwback fighter in a sense. He can box and he can fight. The extra 5lb will mean he can hit a bit harder I think.”

Watson is a popular fighter in Liverpool and is sure to have a large, vocal following on the night. As much as it would suit Cook, he doesn’t expect the 28 year old to get caught up in the atmosphere and become involved in a brawl.

“No. He’s got a good manager in Dave Coldwell and no doubt a good team behind him. I was there in Cardiff when he fought Gavin Rees [Watson lost via 11th round stoppage] and he was unlucky there. He boxed really well. I know how good Gavin is because I’ve trained with the boy and fought him myself although it was only over three rounds. I think it’ll be a cracking fight and if he tries to get involved he knows he’ll walk onto something. I think he’ll come to box and be cagey for the opening couple of rounds and try to box from the middle rounds onwards. That’s what I’m expecting but I’m just gonna train hard for eight tough rounds. I’m not gonna say ‘I’m gonna drop him in two rounds’ or anything. I did say to Dave Coldwell that I can’t see it going the distance, one of us will go. Hopefully it won’t be me but I’m capable of stopping him and he’s capable of stopping me.”

It must be good for Cook to have a new foe to focus his attention on as for months his name seems to have been inextricably linked with Driffield’s Curtis Woodhouse. The former footballer shot to prominence after pushing Gavin all the way in a spilt decision loss and the scheduled ‘war’ between the pair was eagerly anticipated by the boxing fraternity. Unfortunately medical problems forced Cook to withdraw and the rescheduled fight was postponed after Woodhouse’s brother was hospitalised. It seems fair to say that Cook would still love the chance to tangle with improving 31 year old.

“Curtis Woodhouse talks a lot of crap over the internet and on facebook and other things and he wanted a fight with Ashley Theophane but he doesn’t deserve his shot” claims Cook. “If my shot comes I’ll take it but I’m not looking for my shot. I don’t talk my way into title fights. I earned my shots. That fight’s been called off twice now. It’s never gonna happen I don’t think. I spoke to Dave Coldwell and thought we’d be fighting in Liverpool. He said he wanted me to fight John Watson. If John hadn’t gone well in Prizefighter then it would have been David Barnes over in Manchester. He wants me to box Woodhouse in Sheffield because he’s a good ticket seller. How has Curtis Woodhouse worked his way up to where he has? You’re a footballer Curtis and weren’t a very good one. I respect what he’s done in coming over to another sport and he’s done really well but he’s lost to journeymen like Jay Morris and Peter McDonagh”.

With a limited timeframe to work within, Cook is aware that a British title shot could prove hard to come by. Cast him in the role of journeyman at your peril though as he has another target in mind should a third crack at domestic glory fail to materialise.

“The only title I’ve never fought for is the Commonwealth. I’ve never had the chance to. Normally with the Commonwealth, people hand pick opponents and you get these Kenyan’s and Ghanaian’s over who’ve had four or five fights. How did Lee McAllister get the shot at that title? I’d love to fight for the Commonwealth belt.”

If – as the year progresses – Cook finds all possible paths are blocked then there could be one final route to glory. It is however one which would mean Cook trading on past glories. As an aging former champion with a marketable name, Cook becomes an attractive voluntary defence. It involves a lot of ifs, buts and maybes but should the British title change hands when Ashley Theophane eventually faces Steve Williams, Cook might just be given a chance.

“I spoke to Steve in Cardiff, I like him and his people, and we said we’d get it on with each other” says Cook with relish. “I think that’d be a great fight. I think we’d stand toe to toe for five or six rounds and that’d be as far as it’d go. I think that Theophane will win. Obviously he used dirty tactics against me with the low blows and [I feel] that’s what beat me personally. He’s trained with Steve Williams and I heard the sparring was very competitive. I’d like to see Steve win. If Theophane wins I think he’ll give it up. [Adil] Anwar’s gonna be fighting Lenny Daws in an eliminator and I think the other eliminator is Woodhouse against Dave Miles.”

Those are matters for the future though. Jason Cook first needs to concentrate on beating John Watson and ensuring that his final charge at glory doesn’t end before it begins. Whatever happens, he seems keen to make sure that his career ends with a bang and not a whimper.

“All they’ve gotta do is pick up the phone, give me some notice and I’ll take anybody on. It doesn’t bother me.”

Jack 'Kid' Berg

British Hall of Fame Boxer Jack 'Kid' Berg boxed between 1923 and 1936, had 192 professional fights, winning 157 of them. His record was 157–26–9. Fifty seven wins were by knock out.

In 1931 he moved to the USA, where he won 64 out of 76 fights there. He became British lightweight champion in 1934 by beating the holder Harry Mizler, and he lived to be the oldest British boxing champion. During his bouts in America, he was trained by legendary boxing trainer Ray Arcel.

In 1930, Berg defeated the great Cuban fighter Kid Chocolate in ten rounds. In 1930, he knocked out the American champion Mushy Callahan to take the Light Welterweight Championship in London. The National Boxing Association had stripped Callahan before this fight and Britain did not recognize this division, so only the New York State Athletic Commission recognized Berg as champion after this fight. The NBA only recognized Berg as champion after he beat Goldie Hess in January 1931.

Berg fought as a lightweight when he put his title on the line to meet with Tony Canzoneri in Chicago on 24 April 1931. He was quickly knocked out in three rounds, falling on his face and stumbling to get up before giving in and collapsing into the ropes. Berg, contending that he lost at lightweight and not at light welterweight, continued to claim that he was champion. Most of the boxing world recognized Canzoneri, however.

After the Canzoneri bout, Berg continued boxing with mixed results. His last notable win came in 1939 against the up-and-coming prospect Tippy Larkin.

After retiring from boxing, he worked as a film stunt man, joined the Royal Air Force, and owned a restaurant in London. Jack died in April 22, 1991.

The kid will always be remembered as one of the greatest of British boxing heros.

Cleverly 25, is planning on bringing the glory days back to Welsh boxing when he faces Karpency in the latest defence of his belt in Cardiff on Saturday night.

This will be Cleverly's first fight at home in almost four years, and the bout marks the first time a world title contest has been held in there since Joe Calzaghe's super-middleweight unification win over Mikkel Kessler in 2007.

His upcoming ‘War of the Roses’ battle with Matthew Hatton on March 17 will give him an opportunity to shine in front of his home crowd at the Sheffield Arena. ‘Magic’ Matthew Hatton is an experienced contender, and his meeting with Brook will mark his 50th professional appearance. An underdog in the eyes of many observers, Hatton went the distance with Mexican warrior Saul Alvarez last March, who was unable to put the strong Lancashire prizefighter away. Errol Christie 'Chisora and Haye should face Maximum Penalties'

Former boxer Errol Christie was one of the most gifted British amateurs to lace on the gloves.

He won an European amateur belt as the captain of the England team from 1980-83 and was hugely touted by most as destined to be a successful professional and future world champion.

But the paid ranks were not as kind to the Coventry boy, who was born in Leicester. He was hit by leg-muscle problems and too many tough fights, not least the infamous loss to Mark Kaylor at Wembley Arena in 1985, put an end to his aspirations of reaching the top.

Christie like the rest of us, watched with an open mouth of disappointment and sadness the events that un-folded at the post fight press conference in Munich last Saturday night, when Dereck Chisora and David Haye came to blows.

My main concern is for all of you out there running ABCs and making so many sacrifices to help young people. You deserve better than this." - Errol Christie

The fracas has been witnessed on main stream TV around the world, and our sport has been dealt a blow, in terms of Pugilism being a disciplined gentlemanly sport, neither were shown by the two British fighters, and to do it in Germany, was surreal.

Christie who is an ambassador for boxing now and does great work in encouraging and working with youngsters and getting them into boxing and out of in some cases violent surroundings and lifestyles. So when two of the most famous and recognisable faces in our sport, act like they did, it upset Christie, who feels like the hard work and dedication that he and many other amateur boxing coaches and guardians do to promote, encourage and help kids, as been knocked and been given a bad image.

"My name has been mentioned in some of the coverage about the Chisora and Haye bust up so I want to make my position clear." said Christie.

"I’ve visited lots of amateur boxing clubs over the last two years and met some great people trying to keep kids off the streets and away from gang and gun culture. - I’ve been in to schools myself to teach kids how to box but also keep their noses clean. So what sort of an example are these two setting to today’s kids? - And what kind of an image does this leave the sport with?

"Oh but Errol, some might say, you had a bust up with Kaylor? Let me be clear. I’m not proud of that day back in 1985. But there were black v white tensions that don’t exist like they did back then." added Christie.

After being retired for 17, Christie published his autobiography in 2010, 'No Place To Hide', a best selling and griping book written with Tony McMahon. It covers the ups and downs of his career and the fights that were to have a lasting effect on him as a man. It also charts the appalling racism he experienced as a child growing up in Coventry, one of eight children of immigrant Caribbean parents.

"My fight was just a month after the Broadwater Farm riots – think about that. There’s no reason for these to have taken swings at each other. No reason at all.

About Ben Doughty

I had my first amateur fight in 1981 and my last in 2004. I was all set to go pro with a guy called Harry Burgess in 1991 when I radically lost focus and drifted away from the gym. During my lost years I travelled and played in bands before stumbling into Gleason's Gym while living in New York in 2003.

I quickly got the bug and again boxed as an amateur out there while also sparring with various world champs like Mailignaggi, Harris and Braithwaite. Upon my return I boxed for Angel ABC and then went on to become a coach at the Angel before moving to Repton where I assisted Tony Burns for 4 years.

Have had my pro trainer's icense since 2008 and in that time Ihave trained Yassine El Maachi, Lician Bot and Choi Tseveenpurev. I work closely with Spencer Fearon and his Hard Knocks company.

Spencer and I are looking to create a charismatic, knowleageable magazine show that goes out weekly and will feauture, Boxing debate, reviews, previews interviews and spotlights on classic fights.

This video footage was shot by members of the www.britishboxers.co.uk team who were attending the fight in Munich Germany last Saturday night.

The footage we shot, is here un-edited and show's the build up to the Vitali Klitschko and Dereck Chisora, plus ring entrances, ring introductions from Michael 'Let's get ready to Rumble' Buffer. Also includes the first round of the fight that Klitschko eventually won by decision over twelve.

The video then takes us to the media press conference attended by both teams and a certain Mr David Haye, who had flown in to attend the fight and do some live analysis comentary work for British TV company BoxNation. - But it seemed Haye had a plan, and was keen to get in the post fight press conference, seeing it as a perfect PR move to get the ball rolling on his mission to goad Vitali into the ring in June.

Rumours from our source in Germany, are that the fight between Vitali and Haye for this summer had already been agreed, and maybe Haye gatecrashing the presser, would add fuel to fire and get a potential fight build-up underway, before the worlds media in attendence at the post fight gavering.

But if there was a script of some kind, (and I'm not sure there was) then Dereck Chisora had not read It. Bruised and battered, hungry and angry, having just gone twelve hard rounds with Klitschko, he was not in any mood for some more digs to his already dented ego, after Haye turned his vent on him.. - Haye mocked 'Del Boy' pointing out that he had lost his last three fights, and even got beat by Tyson Fury. - Chisora's blood visibly boiled and he was ready to do what he know regrets. Chisora is now probably kicking himself that he just didn't stay in his seat.

What happened next, no one expected, Chisora rose from his chair, took off his towelling night gown, and proceeded to walk over to where Haye was stood. - Then all hell broke loose as both came to blows, including Chisora's coach Don Charles who went for Haye, and the pair both landed heavy shots to each others heads.

Following the extensive media coverage that my WBC World Heavyweight title challenge against Vitali Klitschko in Munich at the weekend has attracted, I feel I must wholeheartedly apologise for my part in the regretable scenes both before and after what was to be the biggest night of my career.

Whilst my behaviour was inexcusable, there were many things that went on behind the scenes that ultimately caused my frustrations to boil over, however this is of course no excuse. I cannot go into the specific details at the moment as quite rightly the British Boxing Board of Control will be investigating this matter and also the altercation that took place between David Haye and myself where I was struck by a bottle.

Despite all of this, the bottom line is, I have let my family, my team and worst of all the sport I love down. I acknowledge that my actions were totally unprofessional, with or without provocation. Now, with a cool head and the benefit of hindsight, my actions at the weekend were regretable to say the least and I am deeply embarrassed at the scenes reported in the media.

I acknowledge that I have a duty as a professional boxer to conduct myself properly at all times, especially with boxing being a sport of controlled aggression. I have let lots of people down on Saturday night, including myself, and for that I am truly sorry.

In Munich I fully cooperated with the German authorities and as a result I was released without charge.

I will be making no further comment at this stage and will wait for any formal hearing to take place.

David Haye's Full Official Statement

It is with regret that I feel I have to issue this statement to clarify certain matters, following an unfortunate incident that occurred on Saturday night (February 18) in Munich, Germany at the Vitali Klitschko vs. Dereck Chisora post-fight press conference.

I was in Munich to watch the WBC world heavyweight title bout between Klitschko and Chisora and provide punditry for BoxNation, and accredited as such.

During the post-fight press conference, I was stood at the back of the room. It wasn't until Bernd Bonte said my name and involved me in the press conference that I commented. I was then happy to banter back and forth with Bonte and Klitschko, keen to ascertain whether he (Vitali) would stay true to his word and reiterate his desire to do what his younger brother couldn't do - knock me out. I felt as though the public would want to hear more information about this potential bout and that we could both start beating the drum ahead of a showdown later this year.

However, at this point Chisora began firing insults at me from his position on the top table. In fact, he has recently made a habit of saying derogatory things about me in the press.

Moments before declaring he wanted to go face-to-face with me, Chisora assured the gathered media that he would give me 'two slaps'. Chisora had, of course, already been shrouded in controversy that weekend.

Despite this, Chisora climbed down from the top table, removed his robe and then walked towards me, entourage in tow, in an aggressive manner. I held my ground, but, unfortunately, he caused a serious disturbance to occur, something which threatened to damage the reputation of the sport we both love. Regrettably, some members of his entourage also encouraged the chaos.

Nevertheless, Chisora and I soon separated, brushed ourselves down and moved in opposite directions.

The confrontation then reignited, however, and both Don Charles and Adam Booth became involved in the mess. Adam suffered a cut to the head.

Thankfully, it didn't take long for the ruckus to again settle down. It was then that I heard Chisora say he planned to 'shoot me dead'.

I decided to leave the venue and return to my hotel, a move which I hoped would diffuse the situation. However, Chisora's team were staying at the same hotel as me and, in light of the threats Chisora had made in front of the world's media, it seemed far more appropriate for me and Adam to leave the hotel as quickly as possible.

Consequently, I left Munich on an earlier flight on Sunday morning and have been thinking about what happened ever since, as well as replaying the incident many times via YouTube. It goes without saying, I am bitterly disappointed to have been a part of what transpired on Saturday evening.

I realise I am no angel - and don't mind a bit of professional trash-talk to help raise boxing's profile - but, during my 21 years in the sport, I have never been involved in, or even witnessed, such a serious fracas. If requested, I shall happily assist the boxing authorities with any investigation they wish to launch and, ultimately, hope that all lessons learned from this incident will be implemented.

Kid Galahad outpoints Jason Booth to win WBC International belt

Kid Galahad won the WBC International super-bantamweight belt, after scoring a unanimous points win over the Jason Booth at the Magna Centre in Rotherham on Saturday night.

Sheffield's new kid on the block Galahad had to pick himself up off the canvas in round one, when an over-hand right from Booth caught him flush on the temple and wobbled the 21 year old, prompting a standing eight count from the referee. - If Galahad thought he could take his time getting into a fight with experienced veteran Booth, he had another think coming.

The crowd at the Magna were stunned, but Galahad recovered immediately from the visit to the canvas, and proceeded to take control of the fight. - His combination punching was fast and accurate and he shown all the slips, tricks and movement synonymous with an Ingle bred pugilist.

The knock down spurred on Galahad and he caught up with Booth in the fourth with a good left hand that really hurt the 34 year-old. His legs went from under him and he dropped to the floor. Taking the count, Booth regained his composure, but it was looking like the youngster had too much zest for the Nottingham man.

By the midway point, Galahad was now starting to take the fight to Booth and was landing accurately to head and body, as Booth slowed. Never having gone beyond the seventh round, Galahad entered uncharted territory, but if Booth was thinking the younger man might run out of ideas or would tire in the second half of the fight, he was mistaken. - Galahad in fact increased his work rate and looked fresh as the fight wore on and Booth began to look a shadow of his former self and a stoppage looked almost likely if Booth was to take any more flush shots. But the former British and European champion, shown again his true grit and fighting spirit to stay in the fight.

Galahad had the raucous Rotherham crowd on the edge of the seats in the seventh. He unleashed several flashy combinations, as Booth struggled to cope with the excellent variety and accuracy of his work. A stoppage looked on the cards, but Booth gritted his teeth and once again regained his defences and his composure.

Booth who has been a credit to boxing inside the ring, continue to bite hard on the gumsheild and tried to land his own shots, but any zap in his punches had gone. Galahad, growing in confidence stayed in control and shown a good range of skills and maturity to keep Booth on the end of his unorthodox shots.

In round eleven another big right hand hurt Booth, who now bleeding from his mouth and it was a session that took almost the last dregs of energy and resolve the proud Booth had. But this fighting warrior came out for the final round and although his legs gave way again, more from exhaustion than a telling shot, he made it to the final bell.

Galahad was a clear winner on the judges scorecards taking all three votes, 120-109, 118-111 & 118-110, and the new championship belt that was formally held by Manny Pacquiao a long while back.

Galahad is a work in progress but shown enough in his first twelve round championship fight and only his 11th contest, that he is one British prospect to keep an eye on. His hero was Prince Naseem Hamed, they both came from the same steel City and it was the Prince who encouraged a young 'Kid' to go down to Brenden Ingles, Wincobank gym and train. - If Galahad is going to try and follow in Hamed's boots, he may just have an hard task to follow. - But Kid Galahad is a boxer with his own natural qualities and sits in the British super-bantamweight rankings nicely now ready to fulfil the potential being bestowed on him. The Kids got talent and can go along way.

As for Jason Booth, (now 39-9) and having lost his last three fights, it looks like old father time as had its say and at championship level that Jason as campaigned at for so long, his finest hour is well behind him. no one wants to see Booth cannon fodder for young up and coming prospects and should now consider calling time on what has been a remarkable career. - Maybe one last fight to go out on a win, he deserves that. Then maybe 'Jason Booth the Auto Biography' could be ready to be scribed! - With a tale or two to tell in and out of the ring, it would be a riveting read. Good luck Jason what ever you decide to do. And onwards and upwards for the newest star from Sheffield's boxing conveyor belt Galahad.

Chris Eubank Jnr. won his second professional fight by outpointing Doncaster's Jason Ball over six rounds by 58-56.

Eubank, 22, had suffered an hand injury and had to withstand a late rally from Ball, but he had done enough good work early on, be it with one hand at times, to win a competitive learning fight.

Former British light-welterweight champion on the comeback, Lenny Daws beat Chris Truman over eight rounds 79-75.

Dee Walsh beat Lee Noble on points over four rounds 39-37 for his second pro win.

Unbeaten now in three fight Leigh Wood beat Pavels Senkovs over four rounds 40-37.

Karl Bell beat Simeon Cover for a second time back to back, outpointing him over four rounds.

In his second pro fight Jason Cunningham beat journeyman Delroy Spencer over four rounds 40-36

Leo D'Erlanger and Ryan McNicol fought to a four round draw.

Haye vs Chisora - The Fight Video from Munich Presser

We were at the Vitali Klitschko vs Dereck Chisora WBC world heavyweight title fight in Munich Germany, but didn't expect to also see an Haye vs Chisora fight after the main event!

Chisora left his presser seat and confronted Haye, after an exchange of words. Haye then appears to strike Chisora, as they come face to face. The pair get into a brawl and fall to the floor.

Haye then gets into a fist fight with Don Charles, Chisora's coach, and they trade heavy blows. - Haye picks up a camera tripod and launches it at Charles. The tripod strikes Hayes own coach Adam Booth, which likely caused the cut to his head.

Tell David we can do it inside or outside the ring. You let me know how you want to do this, because I want him. If David doesn’t fight me, this is God’s honest truth, I’m going to physically burn him. You tell him I said that. You make sure. I’m going to find him.” - Chisora to Adam Booth

Peace was eventually brought to this charade, which incidentally was not a great advert for British Boxing. - But a fight between Haye and Chisora has suddenly become the one people will want to see, hopefully in the ring though. - Although Chisora promised to shoot Haye and burn him, settling their differences in the ring, will hopefully be the option they take.

Haye and Chisora fight at Munich press conference - first picture

Twelve rounds against Vitali Klitschko were not enough for Dereck Chisora, when he decided to confront fellow British boxer in attendance David Haye at the post fight press conference.

At an heated press conference in Munich, things turned nasty when Chisora left his seat to confront Haye, who had been goading him. As the pair exchanged words, Chisora said. 'Do you want to say it to my face, I'm coming over there."

Chisora walked over to Haye and then the pair began to fight each other, rolling around on the floor, with bottle and all sorts flying about. Haye's manager and trainer Adam Booth was caught by a bottle and was badley gashed on his forehead, and looked visibly dazed.

Then Haye and Chisora's coach Don Charles began to fight and exchanged some very hefty digs on each other. Haye picked up a camera tripod and launched it at Charles. - There was no security to break this brawl up and things had well and truly got out of hand.

David Haye says he has agreed to fight Vitali Klitschko in June

David Haye has revealed that he is on the verge of a possible fight with Vitali Klitschko in June should the WBC champion defeat fellow Brit Dereck Chisora tonight in Munich.

The former WBA champion quit the ring in October after his loss to Wladimir Klitschko, before having a change of heart. Haye told talkSPORT about a possible fight with the Ukrainian this summer.

“I’ve agreed all the financial details and rematch clauses [for a fight with Vitali]. That was all agreed in December, he told Kick Off.

“I kept a low profile. Our guys were talking to the Klitschkos. We got it all agreed, we were waiting for a contract to come through, but no contract came through.

“Obviously he made the Chisora fight, that didn’t really bother me. I know Chisora hasn’t got a chance of winning that fight.

I’d love to fight him. I’m ready to fight him. We agreed a date in June for him to fight. I agreed to go to Germany, I agreed to all the typical Klitschko clauses." - David Haye.

“Then all of a sudden he starts making noises that I was demanding too much money, yet the money had already been agreed. I agreed a purse that was probably one of my lowest heavyweight title fight purses I’ve ever had. It’s a strange situation.

“His excuse was that RTL had cut his money so he needed to slash my money more than what we’ve already agreed.

“I’d love to fight him. I’m ready to fight him. We agreed a date in June for him to fight. I agreed to go to Germany, I agreed to all the typical Klitschko clauses.

“What I truly believe is the problem is, is that he’s been very vocal about knocking me out. He has said he is going to knock me out. He also wants to be the Prime Minister of Ukraine, or something like that, he’s getting very political.

“If, for whatever reason, he fights me and doesn’t knock me out it won’t look good for him. It would mean he had lied to all his Ukranian people.

“What happens if I go out there and beat him? I guarantee if I beat him his political career is completely over because he uses his boxing career as a sort of power to show the world that he is a force, not only in politics but as a man.”

Londoner Dereck Chisora tried to unsettle heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko at the weigh for their heavyweight clash on Saturday night, by giving the Ukrainian champion a slap, as the pair came face to face for the final time before they meet in the ring.

It wasn't the best PR move by DelBoy and it didn't go down too well with most, in-fact the stunt as landed him with an apparent £31,000 fine, but Chisora in no mood to play games, tried to justify his actions afterwards when he said;

I'm in a fight mood man, what you think I've come here to play games? - I'm Mr Nice, when it's nice I can give you what you want, I haven't come here to play games. - I've come to fight." - Dereck Chisora.

Klitschko visibly shocked by the attack did not retaliate as the two boxers were pulled apart by their camps, but the champion vowed to take his revenge in the ring in Munich.

"He hit me not like a boxer but like a woman, with an open hand," said the World Boxing Council (WBC) champion.

"If he wants to fight properly, he must do that with his fists. I'll be hitting him back tomorrow, in the ring."

Chisora lands the first blow on Klitschko at the weigh in for Saturday Nights Heavyweight title fight

Chisora, 28, is a big underdog going into the fight after suffering two high-profile losses in his last three fights.

Ukrainian Klitschko, 40, added: "He's not all there. Dereck is full of nervousness and I feel he is afraid, otherwise he would not have jumped back like he did.

Chisora's trainer Don Charles said his fighter's actions were "totally unacceptable".

"I'm speechless," he said. "I'm with him 16 hours of every day and I didn't see that coming. It's totally unacceptable."

Jose Sulaiman, president of the WBC, described the slap as "unacceptable" and suggested that Chisora could face a heavy fine.

He told BoxingScene.com: "This is definitely a lack of respect for the sport and completely unacceptable.

"It was a cheap shot and my message is that there is a fine so he'll feel it.

"He's no gentleman at all and he's failed in what we expect from boxers.

"He wanted Vitali to lose control but Vitali will make him pay for this in the ring, definitely."

Chisora insisted on Thursday he would take Klitschko's title.

"I will end the Klitschko reign and cause a massive upset," said Chisora. "It is the end for Vitali, I promise you."

Promoter Francis Warren, representing his Dad Frank's company, said: "We're all scratching our heads about it, to be honest.

"You always expect something from Dereck - he's a character - but it's usually something that winds people up or is a bit jovial.

"So for him to get physical and aggressive, unprovoked, is surprising. But I'm sure there's method to his madness and we'll find out if the madness has paid off tomorrow night."

"I'll sit down and have a chat with Dereck about it but at the moment we're focused on tomorrow night.

"Dereck is obviously a fiery character and that has got him to where he is. He can react like that to situations but he is a boxer, a fighter. Let's focus on the fight." added Warren.

Chisora weighed in at 17st 3lbs, just a pound heavier than his lightest weight for a professional bout. Klitschko came in at 17st 6lbs.

Nottingham's Jason Booth and Sheffield's Kid Galahad both weighed in ahead of their WBC International Super Bantamweight title fight which will take place at the Magna Centre in Rotherham, on Saturday night.

New kid on the block Galahad weighed in at 8st 9lbs 10oz, just a 1lb above veteran Booth, who hit the scales at 8st 8lbs 14 oz

The fight is to be broadcast live on Channel 5 from 10am.

Also on the bill is Doncaster’s Jason Ball (11st 9lbs, 2oz), who believes boxing fans will be in for a treat when he takes on the much talked about Middleweight sensation Chris Eubank Jr (11st 8lbs, 4oz) - who is hoping to follow in the footsteps of his dad, the former British boxing legend.

Interview with Dereck Chisora from the final public workout in Munich ahead of his world heavyweight title challenge against formidable WBC champion Vitali Klitschko on Saturday night at the Olympiahalle Stadium.

During Chisora's public workout at a Mercedes Benz showroom in the city, one interested spectator in the audience was the champion Vitali, who together with his team watched the Englishman go through his final warm down routines for the waiting press.

Chisora has predicted he will win the WBC world title by knocking out champion Klitschko out in the eighth round of their heavyweight title fight.

The Londoner coming off two defeats gets the unlikely opportunity to shock the boxing world when he steps into the ring with Klitschko on Saturday night in the hope of becoming the heavyweight champion of the world.

DelBoy is a big underdog to pull off what would be a massive upset, Klitschko is unbeaten since 2003, when another British heavyweight beat him, Lennox Lewis, be it on cuts. Klitschko's other defeat was also a injury loss, so in effect the hugh Ukrainian is unbeaten. In his two premature losses he was leading in both fights before they ended.

Chisora is no doubt up against it and victory would be up there with the best efforts of a British fighter winning abroad. Delboy has never been short on confidence and, despite the odds being stacked against him, has predicted a knockout win over Klitschko.

"In number eight Klitschko goes down," Chisora said.

"He knows that he's got a young fighter, hungry, looking to take his title, and he's going to have to bring out his best game ever, you just have to be excited,"

"You don't have to come with a game-plan. Enjoy what you're doing in the ring and everything will come into play. "If you try and look for anything you find yourself struggling." added Chisora.

Britishboxers will be ringside in Munich to bring you a fight report on Dereck's performance and also follow the progress of Liverpool's featherweight on the comeback, former British and Commonwealth champion Stephen Smith, who meets Hungarian Arpad Vass, in a warm up before next month's vacant WBO Inter-Continental super featherweight title.
