Chester - 26/05/2012

Chester, Saturday 26 May 2012

The Stewards held an enquiry into the use of the whip by Matthew Hopkins, the rider of RED ALL OVER (IRE), unplaced, from 2 furlongs out. Having heard his evidence and viewed recordings of the race, they found him in breach of Schedule (B)6 Part 2 in that he had used his whip when out of contention. The Stewards suspended Hopkins for 5 days as follows: Saturday 9, Monday 11, Tuesday 12, Wednesday 13 and Thursday 14 June.

The Stewards held an enquiry following a report from the Starter that THE RECTIFIER (USA), trained by Jim Boyle, refused to enter the stalls and was withdrawn. The trainer’s attention was drawn to the restriction incurred under Rule (B)44 and informed that the horse could not run until the day after passing a stalls test. This being the second occasion within the previous 12 months that THE RECTIFIER (USA) had been reported, the Stewards informed the trainer that if the horse were reported for a third time within the same period, THE RECTIFIER (USA) would be prevented from having a stalls test for 6 months.

The Stewards held an enquiry into possible interference inside the final furlong. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that interference took place between MABAIT, placed third, ridden by Alice Haynes, and ETON FOREVER (IRE), unplaced, ridden by Neil Callan, but the interference was accidental.

The Stewards noted that I’M SUPER TOO (IRE), unplaced, had interfered with IULUS, unplaced, which in turn interfered with CALAF, placed fourth, which then interfered with DHAULAR DHAR (IRE), unplaced, approaching the winning post on the first circuit, but after viewing a recording of the race they were satisfied that it did not involve a riding offence.

The Stewards noted that there was interference on the first bend between LEGAL EAGLE (IRE), placed fourth, WAKING WARRIOR, unplaced, and VIZEAN (IRE), placed third, but after viewing a recording of the race they were unable to apportion blame.

Goodwood - 26/05/2012

Goodwood, 26 May 2012

The Stewards held an enquiry under Rule (B)11.6 into possible interference on the run to the line. Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race they found that the winner, LIFE AND SOUL (IRE) ridden by Hayley Turner and GRUMETI, placed second, ridden by Ryan Moore, had interfered with ITHOUGHTITWASOVER (IRE), placed third, ridden by Silvestre De Sousa. They found the interference was accidental and had not improved LIFE AND SOUL (IRE)’s or GRUMETI’s placings. They ordered the placings to remain unaltered.

The Stewards noted that THE GOLDEN CHEONGSAM (IRE), placed third, had interfered with STRONG CONVICTION, unplaced, approaching the final furlong but after viewing a recording of the incident they were satisfied that it neither involved a riding offence nor improved THE GOLDEN CHEONGSAM (IRE)’s placing.

The Stewards wished to hold an enquiry into the use of the whip but were unable to do so as Silvestre De Sousa had left the course. They adjourned their enquiry to Goodwood on 8 June 2012.

The record of vaccinations in the passport of HOTDIGGITY (FR), trained by Peter Chapple-Hyam, did not comply with the Rules of Racing. The Stewards found the trainer in breach of Rule (E)18 and fined him £140.

The Starter reported that RASH JUDGEMENT, trained by Stuart Kittow, refused to enter the stalls. The trainer’s attention was drawn to the restriction incurred under Rule (B)44 and informed that the gelding could not run until the day after passing a stalls test.

The trainer’s attention was drawn to the restriction incurred under Rule (B)44 and informed that the filly could not run until the day after passing a stalls test.

The Stewards held an enquiry to consider the apparent improvement in form of the winner, TIS ROCK ‘N ROLL (USA), ridden by Ted Durcan and trained by David Lanigan, which had never previously been placed. They interviewed the trainer who stated that the colt had strengthened up over the winter.
