As I understand it, you become a member (free), and receive a box of samples every month tailored to you. You do have to text in to receive your box and that costs £1 (to weed out those who try to order hundreds at a time!). I was given a sample box to have a look at (pictured above) and was actually pretty impressed. The contents are:

2 DKNY Delicious Night Body Lotion sachets
2 DKNY Delicious Night Perfume press and pop bubbles (no idea of technical term but think fragrance should be available anyway in these dinky little portions)
La Roche Posay Toleriane Riche 5ml (plus a voucher to receive a travel size product if you complete a La Roche questionnaire)
1 Vial of Prescences de Bach; the fragrances made by the same people that do Bach Flower Remedies.

Samples vary from month to month. Everyone wins - the brands get their samples out to people who really want them (plus there is the obvious added bonus of not having to BEG at counter), and consumers get to trial products without an initial hefty outlay. Nice.

www.latestinbeauty.com

Bobbi Brown Brow Pencil

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 200px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_doMzGF0zZBw/S5kXLMkYyBI/AAAAAAAAC48/nNLLUZF816k/s320/BBB+recommends_V1_1(2).JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5447410705401169938" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 268px; height: 313px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_doMzGF0zZBw/S5kXFU0XqOI/AAAAAAAAC40/l6ZY1g_a9ng/s320/bobbieyebrowpencil.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5447410604536473826" />
I'm definitely a little lazy when it comes to my eyebrows - and break into a run at the sight of a brow bar (away from, not toward!), but one of my favourite products this year is this Bobbi Brow Pencil. I love all the innovative ideas that are coming from this brand but don't love that they forgot us Brits want to buy them too! The Palettes shown are Cream Face Kit in Chic and Shimmer and Eye Tint Kit in Safari Chic , but among the ten palettes available there are Face Tint Palettes and Lip Tint Palettes.

Edward Bess Update

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 180px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_doMzGF0zZBw/S5i6Euae66I/AAAAAAAAC4c/hYrFawNfUf4/s320/Ed+Bess+Shoot+Bergdorfs+Zuneta.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5447308339645967266" />
Ok, so Zu (www.zuneta.com) is in New York shooting two looks for her site and the forthcoming Edward Bess launch. Showing prices at the counter has been an absolute no-no for years....now I think about it, I can't understand why it hasn't been questioned before. There are very few goods that one is expected to have to make contact with a sales member to find out the price...and of course, once that contact has been made, the sales talk can begin. But, at last, someone influential has finally, finally cottoned on to the fact that if a consumer can't see the price of something, they may make an assumption that it is too expensive for them and literally walk on by. In trial stores in the USA where prices on the Lauder counters were readily displayed, customers were surprised that it was all far more affordable that they'd been expecting. Fabrizio also says, 'Women want to play with products without being disturbed by a consultant.' Halleluja. Someone.Finally.Gets.It. We knew for years that we'd like to look at a lipgloss unmolested, know the price before we fall in love and not be embarrassed into buying something that's really too expensive because it all gets a bit too hard to say no. Of course, if Fabrizio's plans roll out everywhere, other beauty brands will fall into an agony of indecision about whether they too should do the unthinkable - inform their customers.

But before we all fall upon Fabrizio as a lone voice of common sense, he's also got plans to axe 2000 jobs. Ouch. With profits at $256.2 million, I think Mr Freda, you don't really need to do that.

Wakey, Wakey YSL! Although I don't believe for a nano-second that using a metal ball has any effect other than a nice cooling feeling, the formula for this is said to increase hydration (15% after two hours, 40% after 8 hours), banish puffiness and reduce dark circles. Basically, the same deal as any of the other metal ball roller eye pens, but in way, way nicer packaging. More interesting to note though, is that it doesn't contain parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrances, synthetic dyes, pthalates, GMOs or Triclosan.

D&G My Collection

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 229px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_doMzGF0zZBw/S5ZdY0UhT8I/AAAAAAAAC4M/8lsXRi0UXw0/s320/D%26G+My+Collection+Creative+Packshot.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5446643480294150082" />
D&G's good looking fragrance anthology also comes in this mini-set - all five glass bottled scents within a D&G branded white pouch. Nice.

What Lady Gaga Smells Like...

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 200px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_doMzGF0zZBw/S5ZSZty3qbI/AAAAAAAAC4E/GdH8_oFh8pc/s320/gaga2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5446631401094359474" />
..Dragon's blood resin, blonde patchouli, jasmine and vanilla...seriously. In fact, it seems several PRs looking after high profile brands have been asked not to show products to beauty bloggers ahead of time, feeling that beauty exclusives should be for magazines, particularly weeklies and supplements, as tradition has dictated.

Although it’s being done more discretely than the obvious fashion journalists’ distress at their LFW being ruined by ‘liggers with laptops’ (their words, not mine), nonetheless, the message is still there.

As ever, I put this to the blogosphere for their words of wisdom, but my views are as follows:

Beauty blogging isn’t going away – if anything, it is going to get stronger, with more and more amazing beauty blogs jumping on this highspeed, driverless train;

The World Wide Web does exactly what it says on tin: information is so much more accessible to everyone and no amount of complaining is going to change that: if it’s out there, it’s ours;

Beauty consumers who read beauty blogs do so exactly for up to the minute information and unbiased reviews – beauty blogs feed a need and desire for instant knowledge and there isn’t a way to compete with that on paper;

Long after the copy of your magazine has made its way to recycling, blog news and reviews are there forever. For anyone to see, at any time – present or future.

Beauty blogs listen – and provide a place for beauty fans and consumers to talk.

The reach of beauty blogs is infinite.

This list could run on for pages really, but it is my view that insisting on exclusives in this ‘now’ world doesn’t do the brands and products justice – it’s a one shot, disposable hit that may bring short-term dividends, but long term, I don’t think so. I’ve said before that the last thing in the world I want to see is a ‘them’ and ‘us’ situation, but then bloggers aren’t insisting on exclusives and pettily refusing to feature at all if conditions aren’t met.

Ultimately, everything’s different now. Get used to it.

Shiseido Spring/Summer 2010

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 226px; height: 320px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_doMzGF0zZBw/S5UsnValjsI/AAAAAAAAC38/p1Rgp4z6RCE/s320/011Compressed.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5446308378649661122" />
Loving this image of the whole darn lot of Shiseido's Spring/Summer 2010 make up range. And just before we all start kohl-ing rakish lines over our upper lips, like all the other 'looks', I'd say this one won't 'translate to high street' either. Anyway, Frieda Kahlo did it years ago. At the same time, I discovered TokyoMilk do several lipsticks - each in a bullet with the bottom section imprinted with vintage imagery, and some gorgeous, gorgeous lipbalms. The solid fragrances are £22 but I got so carried away with the prettiness I actually forgot to smell them. It's part of the Dior Addict Ultra-Gloss range. It's non sticky (I tried it) and full of shine complex to give it va-va-voom glossiness. Split into three parts based on Dior fashion collections, the 18 Couture shades breakdown into Glow, Pearl and Flash. Needless to say, Little Red Dress is part of Flash!

Bobbi Brown Orchid Colour Strip

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 180px; height: 180px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_doMzGF0zZBw/S5Autjp-j9I/AAAAAAAAC28/lkPXolouy8w/s320/bobbiorchid.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5444903309691228114" />
BB Limited Edition Colour Strips have all the usual wearability of her signature muted tones, but each Strip contains one bright to liven things up. Not sure when these launch here, but they are already available in the US.

Elizabeth Arden Limited Edition Red Door Scented Candle

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_doMzGF0zZBw/S458LS3ZuMI/AAAAAAAAC20/VpuFz97H7jg/s320/stylejunkee.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5444425533022124226" />
Out in May from John Lewis, here's www.stylejunkee.com's excellent snap of the limited edition Elizabeth Arden goodies including the porcelein held candle depicting stylish New York ladies outside the EA building in New York. In order to give you a more accurate idea of shade, I've painted one hand in Grey Suede and the other in MK Hollywood Gold. At a glance, it is hard to tell any difference whatsoever, but there are subtle tonal and textural differences.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_doMzGF0zZBw/S454xfTe3TI/AAAAAAAAC2s/6XwTwVOrOwE/s320/mkrevlon+002.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5444421791149645106" />
This is Revlon Grey Suede, launching in June. Luckily, the site I found it on, www.rickysnyc.com will ship. I'd say this is one for the bathroom shelf just in case one of those spiky spring colds makes an appearance. But this is not a new idea: Sephora have already trialled the beauty vending machine concept in the states previously. There's a Nivea vending machine in Berlin (selling small tins of Nivea for 50c a shot)and I've mentioned before - last year - the Utique vending machine that caused a stir at Fred Segal, but don't think I've talked about what I think is the best one of all, Beautiful Vending's Straightener vending machine - pay your money and get a go with heated straighteners to re-perfect your do half way through the evening..or day. If I knew where and if these were located in London, I would definitely nip in for a quick sleek down - especially on a hideous frizz day, which we are having so many of lately. Can anyone provide a Central London Map flagging up the straightener locations....I'd like this in the back of my diary instead of the tube map which I don't understand anyway.

Armani Face Fabric Radiance - Scoop!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 214px; height: 320px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_doMzGF0zZBw/S4kHJxk9jJI/AAAAAAAAC1U/xuBdVwxOFfA/s320/Armani+Prive+3.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5442889489162538130" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 213px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_doMzGF0zZBw/S4kHDgnjAwI/AAAAAAAAC1M/awDjuFVUCAg/s320/Armani+Prive+Show.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5442889381530764034" />
I'm a big fan of Armani foundations, but have been slightly out of the loop of late. However, I'm completely loving their latest venture into the skin radiance arena. Face Fabric, £29, which launches in June, gives skin an ethereal glow - kind of silvery shot with pink - and totally keys into chiffon-y nude looks. It's supposed to give a pale glow - the opposite of what most glow-makers do: bronze glow, golden glow et al, so is a trend maker on its own. Like it. Out in June.

Speed Reviews: Bobbi Brown Johnson & Johnson, Biotherm, Estee Lauder, Jemma Kidd, Frederic Fekkai

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_doMzGF0zZBw/S4kC_Mim1xI/AAAAAAAAC08/TqDm0O_osUQ/s320/j%26j+002.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5442884909375346450" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_doMzGF0zZBw/S4kC4ux6uxI/AAAAAAAAC00/bY_typbVX_s/s320/j%26j+004.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5442884798307285778" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 244px; height: 244px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_doMzGF0zZBw/S4kCuuYHtkI/AAAAAAAAC0s/gq6luudytIg/s320/johnsons.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5442884626400392770" />
Johnson & Johnson 24 Hour Moisturiser Extra Rich Body Lotion
I've been SO lazy all winter about applying body moisturiser so when I went to the launch of this, it was a good reminder to start dealing with dry skin. Although I like luxier products, I was impressed with this in terms of non-stickiness, hydration and smell....it doesn't over power fragrance or any other scented products you might like to use (a real gripe of mine is over-fragrancing body lotions so the smell clashes with everything else...I never want to smell too much of melons etc) and a wake-up to me was the price - £2.99. That's a lot of moisturising for a very little bit of cash. I've also included a couple of pics of the launch - nice cakes!
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 130px; height: 130px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_doMzGF0zZBw/S4kAcAhC6sI/AAAAAAAAC0k/O9Ooq0qC-Ww/s320/biotherm.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5442882105828895426" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 270px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_doMzGF0zZBw/S4kAWSZMl4I/AAAAAAAAC0c/9QAOYJFdvsA/s320/biotherm1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5442882007548598146" />
Biotherm Huile de Gommage Oil Therapy and Biotherm Aqua Source Skin Perfection
I'm delighted to have a re-introduction to Biotherm, but it is something of a tale of two halves. On the plus, Biotherm Aqua Source Skin Perfection, £27, ticks every moisturiser box in the book for boosting hydration levels and making skin feel and look ultra-comfortable - and concetrating the equivalent of 5,000 litres of thermal spring water, it manages to keep skin hydrated literally all day. On the minus, the Gommage Oil Therapy (not yet in shops) didn't really give the surge of hydration that I was expecting. It absorbs easily, smells beautiful (containing oils of Passion Flower, Rose Mosqueta and Apricot) but still left my skin feeling a bit dry. It doesn't profess to be a body butter, so maybe I'm used to a different formulation (it comes out of the tube like orange jelly), but was disappointed none the less.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 298px; height: 298px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_doMzGF0zZBw/S4kEgbVoCkI/AAAAAAAAC1E/TgZHltFDdQs/s320/fekkai.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5442886579794741826" />
Frederic Fekkai Glossing Shampoo & Conditioner
Not a great deal to say on this duo other than at £18 each, you really need it to deliver. It does. It makes my naturally-curly-but-subjected-to-torture-under-straighteners hair shine, shine, shine like nothing else ever has.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_doMzGF0zZBw/S4j6ujg996I/AAAAAAAAC0U/bqcz4pfAIDo/s320/j%26j+005.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5442875827391690658" />
Estee Lauder Nautical Matte Eye Shadow (launching end March)
I'm a little bit smitten with this flat navy shade. I always need to use a primer (UD Shadow Potion) with it because nothing looks worse than dark and dusky shades that are creasing and wearing away (lighter shades are far more forgiving) and it doesn't quite last the day on its own, but it is gorgeous worn on it's own with a bit of black mascara and liner for really sultry eyes. As you'll see I've been attending the School of Rubbish Photography again...sorry!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 313px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_doMzGF0zZBw/S4j3frFm-8I/AAAAAAAAC0M/csPNztcJGZ0/s320/Bobbi-Brown-Cabana-Corals-Palette.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5442872273191500738" />
Bobbi Brown Cabana Coral Lip & Eye Palette
I am really enjoying using this palette which is perfect for my preference for neutrals with a kick. Six eye shades and four lip shades in the coral spectrum make a gorgeous natural look that you can rev up or down depending upon how you like it (although correctly speaking, I'm not sure you can 'rev down'!! Two colours are stand-out - Bermuda Pink - a shimmery coral pink, and golden Bonfire. The only thing missing is a creme blush, which I think would have been a better option than four lip shades - three would be plenty and a creme blush to complement the look would have made it more functional palette. £48.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 150px; height: 150px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_doMzGF0zZBw/S4j1M2REjFI/AAAAAAAAC0E/Juw721vB418/s320/jkblush.gif" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5442869750751595602" />
Jemma Kidd Make Up School Blushwear in Pawpaw
Because I wasn't a fan of Mineral Veil, I was a little bit sceptical about trying other items from the range...however, so glad I got over myself because I love this cream blush thats infused with skin loving vitamins. The colour is a perfect peach that goes on skin with milky backdrop - and the lightest touch. I like the buildability of this, as well as the blendability. All in all, a great buy if you're doing the coral trend. £13.
