Learn to cook like you have lived in Italy all your life. Chef Ceil has a wonderful way of creating delicious food with seemingly little effort. You’ll start with a terrific farm salad of wild greens with apple wood smoked bacon, goat cheese and green lentils, followed by pesto basil gnocchi with sauteed prosciutto accompanied with grated zucchini side dish to the finale of a decadent ricotta cream pie topped with fresh fruit. 

Along the journey, you’ll hear stories from Chef Ceil’s travels in Italy. Ceil is an accomplished caterer and former Executive Chef for Waterbrook Winery, who brings her love for great food to her Walla Walla country kitchen.

Session #1: Exploring the Sleeping Vineyard

We’ll set out to explore the vineyard before it comes out of dormancy, seeking those first signs of renewal and enjoying the structural elements of a sleeping vineyard. Then we’ll head into the Tertulia Cellars winery where Winemaker Ryan Raber will take us into the cellar for a closer look behind the scenes. There will be great opportunities for amazing photos.

Session #2: The Awakening Vineyard

Every April, the vineyard comes alive with the promise of a great harvest. We’ll capture those first signs of spring and perhaps see some of the natural inhabitants who make the vineyard their home or their hunting ground, such as pheasant, quails, red-tailed hawks and deer. Then we’ll head into the cellar to shoot last year’s vintages resting in their oak barrels as well as explore the nuances of capturing the beauty of wine in your glass.

Each session runs from 10:30 AM- 1:30 PM. We’ll meet at a designated location for our photo session at 10:30 am. Please be on time and ready to shoot.

Class size is 12 ppl maximum and includes wine tasting and light lunch.

$65 pp per session.

What To Bring

Hiking boots or sturdy footwear for walking in vineyards and/or in a wet cellar.  Please dress appropriately for the weather as we go rain or shine. You’ll need your own transportation to photo shoot venue (directions and details given to you after registration).

Camera equipment should include len(s) from wide angle to zoom, a tripod, an extra battery and memory card.

Also participants should review their camera manual before to know how to locate Manual Mode, Aperture priority, and Shutter priority.

 About Don Fleming

Don Fleming is a freelance photographer and adventurer, who has traveled to all seven continents with National Geographic Expeditions. Over his 40 year photography odyssey, he has captured ‘the most magical places in the world.’ His images of the Amazon River depict the ‘solitude of the rainforest,’ and his images of the Africa and India, ‘capture the essence and beauty of the place.’

In 2007 Don, and his wife Susan, moved to Walla Walla where he enrolled at the Center for Enology and Viticulture at Walla Walla Community College to learn the fine details of the wine industry. He also offers a course on Digital Vineyard Photography at the college.

On his photographic field trips his goal is to bring out the creativity of his fellow photographers and help them ‘get the most out of their time in the field.’

Corbi Copeland

Corbi Copeland is a 29 year old self proclaimed Jane-of-all-trades who lives and works in the Walla Walla Valley. As a Reiki practitioner at Akasha Natural Healing Corbi enjoys helping people be more comfortable and relaxed in their bodies. As an artist she hopes to touch peoples’ hearts and spirits with her unique and whimsical mixed media creations.

Cynthia Hatch

Cynthia Hatch first took painting classes at WWCC after turning 50 and now divides her free time three ways:  her six chickens, motorcycles, and now painting.   She has found new inspiration after visiting the Picasso Exhibition in Seattle last fall and  has painted her self portrait in the Picasso style.

Erik Andrew

Erik Andrew is a self-taught artist who has eschewed formal training in favor of exploring his own rich, strange artistic world. This exploration has taken many forms: from photography, designing and building furniture, to music and songwriting, his main passions before he found painting. The spirit of jazz improvisation has informed his development as a painter; Andrew empathizes with Thelonious Monk, the jazz innovator who said that when he finished a piece, he’d step back and chuckle at what he’d done.

Lila Witt Locati

Gallery curator and resident artist Lila Witt Locati paints and sculps. “Impressionism was a wonderful period for experiments in color and self expression during the period Edison was inventing the light bulb.  Mary Cassatt would have been someone I would love to have had coffee with.  I am enjoying what wine can do for art here in Walla Walla.  It is becoming the NW “Sausalito, CA”.  This painting is from an old photo Norman Adams had of his grandfather, Adolph Schwartz here on Second St. in Walla Walla.”

Casa Girasol

Also sharing the tasting room space is Casa Girasol with an array of handcrafted pottery from Mexico in contemporary styling and colors.
